I find it very strange in a game where we are suppost to be able to build our characters the way we want to suit our playstyle, and fulfill any role, that the only really viable builds are defensive tanky ones.
Although there are some damage focused builds that are used by certain players, the majority of the forums seems to be saying stat water or you will die instantly in spvp.
To me this just seems wrong for this particular game. If someone wants to rely on raw damage to destroy enemies instantly, at the cost of being super squish that should be available. Currently however, they will usually be put down before they can even make a dent in another players HP.
Im not trying to complain I just find it odd that elementalist, with such a wide range of skills is being narrowed into one or two particular builds in order to even stand a chance.
I hope it gets looked into eventually. Just my two cents

I also have 1 other issue I would like help with. I click my skills. I know its bad but i do this for 2 reasons:
1 im female and have very small hands, i cant reach the f1,2,3 or 789 with 1 hand unless I leave my char standing still like a pint of milk.
2. Two of my fingers on each hand are ‘bent’ inwards (they look like they are broken) making it difficult to feel for keys without looking at the keyboard. I was born like this :P
Am i doomed to forever be at a disadvantage because of this? And is there any way i can get around my need for clicking skills?
HI, I am a new player and yesterday I tried sPVP with my elementalist. I pretty much got my kitten kicked. I will be the first to admit that I am not a pro player but I am really struggling to make my D/D finish enemies.
Unless I had a team mate to work with me I could not 1v1 an opponent. I was simply not doing enough damage to put him down before he healed.
I am looking for advice on which particular skills to use, in general against 1 or 2 opponents so that I can actually kill them
Additional notes:
I tried 1v1 my friend in a ‘dual’ type situation. He is a ranger. When he was using sword, I simply could not kill him. We tried 6 times and he won every single time.
I am mostly lookin for skill combinations I should use, including which utilities, to quickly put down opponents before they destroy me lol
I have tried 2 builds.
20 water, 15 earth, 30 arcane, 5 air
and 30 fire, 20 rock, 20 arcane
I prefer no videos as I find the skills are activated too fast for me to see in detail specific combinations.

I put forward this idea as I hate autoattack in games. I find it boring which is why I like elementalist. Just my personal opinions but I find complex combination attacks are alot more fun to plan out and practice than standing and spamming one basic attack
I like the 70% water boost idea but I feel there needs to be more options. It seems very restrictive (and boring) to only have one or two set ways of achieving the high damage possibilities. I feel each build and play style should have more combos, which are difficult to achieve to max out damage.
To me its a better way of improving the class that simply giving every single skill a damage boost, which many people on the forum are asking for.

I think elementalist could do with more skills similar to flame grab.
Instead of an overall damage boost, adding skills that do greater damage when a certain condition is active.
This could also work across elements, for instance, if a target is bleeding (earth) then lightning attacks to more damage. It encourages people to stance dance, and makes every attunement viable.
This means that the ‘higher damage’ skills also take more player skill and attention to be pulled off, adding an extra challenge.
I also think there is a need for a utility skill that improves defence at the cost of lowering attack. A constant 33% defence boost at the cost of 50% attack seems a fair trade to me, where the player could toggle the skill on and off. Currently the ‘armor of earth’ skill has a far too short duration. This is because it also breaks stun and adds stability. I feel there is a need for a weaker version with longer duration that simply grants defense.

I was ready to give up on this class. Then some kind people taught me how to play and im finding it much easier. I do agree some skills need a damage boost and D/D need a better healing skill, other than that though, its not as bad as I originally thought.

Yes I was hoping to get lightning flash and armor of earth to improve my defenses later.
Does anyone have any AOE combos for staff or scepter/dag that can help deal with large groups of enemies, as this is where i die the most.

I honestly don’t like any earth skills on any weapon. I know they are useful but i cant seem to make myself enjoy using them.
Churning earth has a long channel and im usually dead before i can finish.
Im new to gw and have a level 14 char elementalist. Just moved on from plains of ashford and I find myself dying at least once every 10mins.
I’m mainly a dual dagger ele. The skills I tend to use are :
begin with Drakes Breath for the burning
Fire grab
Burning speed
Then i will switch to water if im hurt to heal and spam vapor blade
or switch to lightning if im not hurt and use whip/updraft to finish them off
I find this works OK against 1 or 2 mobs but any more than that and im instantly dead. Ive tried using all glyph summons but that hasn’t helped.
If there is a ranger and a warrior mob together i really cant survive for more than 1 min.
I honestly don’t know what im doing wrong. I’m switching as much as possible and moving around as much as my endurance allows but I still die constantly.
Do I just suck? and should i switch to warrior or something? Please help :S
