I wouldn’t mind if they did this but i kinda see it as a non issue personally. It doesn’t take much time at all to complete the tutorial. IMO it would take too much effort for something that would have a minor impact.

trying to funnel everyone into the same build is not being a good guild leader by far. Especially if his people lack the ability to survive in zerker, or find damage builds to be boring.

Except he is not trying to funnel people into a build, he is trying to teach them how to play the game well, and explaining why certain gear stats matter for this and them giving them the opportunity to follow his advice if they want. Having a variety of builds just for the sake of it isnt good.

I never said that you insulted them. All I’m saying is that you promoting zerker will probably make them feel bad sooner or later. Especially when you put up such a statement on the forums. So if you’re unhappy with them, you might as well give them away to guilds that have absolutely no problem with who runs what.

This guy is actually being a good guild leader by trying to inform his guildies how to improve their builds and play skillfully. They have no reason to feel bad since they aren’t begin forced to do anything, just begin told simple facts of how this game works and given the knowledge of how to become better if they choose.

If he kicked them out the guild and told them to join a more casual one, that would be far worse than what hes doing now.

Lol I do 10-19 without AR with no problem all the time. It’s not that big of a problem, except when a group pretty much tells you “hey do this thing that is guaranteed to stack agony on you.”

Sounds more like a lack of communication and an unskilled team that anyone having a crappy attitude.

They did have a crappy attitude, trust me. I wouldn’t say they did if they didn’t.

You havnt given us any information about what they actually said to you so its hard to take your word for it. Anyway unless they specifically raged about your support build to you, I still dont see how this has anything to do with zerker vs support.

The main issue was that you lacked the necessary AR for the group strategy.

Did you let the group know at the start of the frac you had no AR?
Did you make sure you met the requirements of the LFG?
Did you communicate to them, when they told you to stack on the boss that it was an unfamiliar tactic to you and your current specs didnt allow you to do this?

If not, then its your fault. If you did then yes they were kittens for ignoring you.

Anyway 1 bad group is no reason to stop playing a character. The really simple solution is to just get the recommended AR for the frac level. Then you can adapt to any group strategies and avoid all the unnecessary conflict.

I really dont understand this. You say you want to play a support guard and then complain when your group asks you to support? This would have happened regardless of your gear stats.

And honestly, the group sounds to be very unskilled but in that situation I would have done the same. If the group was unable to finish the fractal due to too many deaths then kicking the person without the reccommended AR , who kept dying seems logical. Replacing you with someone who can eat the agony with no dmg would likely let them finish.

Sounds more like a lack of communication and an unskilled team that anyone having a crappy attitude.

For general dungeon pugging, is it acceptable to use scep/dag to stack 18 might before entering combat, then switch to staff and run in?

My aim is to maximize dps while still providing might stacks to groups. I try it in zerker pugs where most bosses are dead within 30seconds.

Using staff dps traits with str runes and beserker gear.

Scep/focus might stack or staff dps. Which build is preferred in an average pug running zerker with little synergy.

At the moment I tend to run scep might stack if might is low and use staff otherwise. However I’ve seen people in this forum saying how much they hate seeing a scep ele in fractals ect and am unsure if I’m using the correct approach.

@Ardenwolfe if everyone just went to another map and didnt put in the effort to progress maps, there would be no maps in the first place. Someone has to do the work from the beginning you suggestion to move maps doesnt really work if everyone follows it.

Also the metal detector analogy doesn’t really fit. If you had to spend 1 hr setup before you could metal detect each time, and kids kept arriving spoiling it after you had spent that hour, I bet you would be more annoyed and alot less willing to just go somewhere else.

You think its acceptable for this player to have his 1 hr effort wiped and have to spend another hour gaining it all back because chest farmers cant be considerate?

OP im totally on your side. Its not a reporting issue, they aren’t technically doing anything wrong, but they are being inconsiderate kittens and I think its a shame they are happy to ruin peoples time and effort and not care.

If they just stuck to 0% maps, which are easier to get into anyway, then both playstyles could continue happily without getting in each others way.

I doubt its a simple as resetting the storyline. Rollbacks are never easy.

You have to consider if you will get rewards again the 2nd time around..if not that requires coding..if yes is it fair to other players.

How far back will you roll the story? What about the achievement progress..does it stay or go.

Is the code to unlock order armor activated when choosing..if yes thats more coding to reset it.
I dont know much about code but it seems complicated for a minor issue.
Hopefully you can understand why Anet doesnt do these kind of rollbacks especially just for individuals.

Suggestion - Trials of Mordremoth

zombyturtle.5980

Possible Additional suggestions – Some further ideas I thought up to make it more fun and challenging

Competitiveness. Adding a leaderboard and scores to the content could create PVE competitiveness. For those who have played gw1 it could work on a similar basis to the challenge missions. Points could be awarded to teams based upon
- time taken to complete trials
- number of conditions applied to foes
-number of Knockdowns avoided
-amount of direct damage dealt

Bonus points could be awarded for teams who enter with 5 different professions, or 5 of the same profession to increase variety and again, make it more re playable.

Players could choose to add handicaps similar to the queens gauntlet. Would reward more bonus points. Not sure if it should add more rewards.

Issues – Players might skip living story, mitigated somewhat by adding it only at the end of a season. Could also be solved by adding requirements of having completed living story episodes before entering or add a currency cost of badges from silverwastes to enter.

Competitiveness may lead to trashtalking, elitism ect.

Balancing issues – some classes will just be better at clearing it faster and always gain more points. I tried to avoid this with the suggestion to reward bonus points to more unconventional teams.

Reward balancing – would have to be worth players time. If average time of completion is ~20minsutes then 1 gold minimum reward would be necessary. Any longer and more gold would be needed for players to find it worthwhile.

Suggestion - Trials of Mordremoth

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zombyturtle.5980

zombyturtle.5980

Issue – Living story has little replay-ability. Too dialog heavy with no skippable cutscences. This leads to a reluctance for players to repeat content once they have completed achievements.

Suggestion – At the end of each living story chapter, a new instance would open. This instance would be a culmination of the best encounters throughout the living story.

How it would work – 5 players would be teleported into a small locked off chamber taken directly from part of the living story. E.g the Pale tree chamber. A 10 second countdown would begin. Then the shadow of the dragon boss would activate. Players would have to defeat this boss. A portal would then open to the next room. This could be for instant the small cave area where the players fight the terragriff boss. This would repeat for 5-10 bosses.
There would be no WPs. Players could resurrect team members but a full party wipe would result in players being teleported out.

At the end of the trials players would receive a chest with a choice of a small gold reward, some t6 mats or some bolts of silk. The trials can be completed as much as a player wants but rewards are only given out once per day.

This would hopefully add replability to existing well developed living story content without taking too many resources to implement. It would also create repeatable content that would feel rewarding on a daily basis. The living story would still be valuable for providing background lore and ensuring single players can continue to experience the same content that groups can.

Love this idea. Id really like to see a fish collection too. I think it would justify adding fishing a little more as it adds a form of horizontal progression and gives those who enjoy completing goals something to do.

Id like a bug collection too where players obtain a unique jar like the one in the bug catching heart in diessa plateau, that unlocks the collection, then the player can go around scooping the ambient fireflies ect in the world.

I think farming would fit better into player housing. If they gave us a few options of customizing where we place the nodes we receive from achievement metas or gem store we could have a nice little garden.

Having a disability and the new dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

zombyturtle.5980

Not to attempt to put color blindness in the same boat as cancer, but Anet can’t even be bothered to throw in a colorblind recoloring option for for cursors and (way more importantly imo) ground effects and similar.

I wish it were otherwise, but if they care about the disabled population, its at the level of token sympathy, not actions.

But they did make changes to aid colourblind people..
They firstly changed the damage circle indicators from a solid red line to a wiggly red line so they were more movement based rather than colour.
Then they changed it again to a more solid block which should stand out better rather than a thin line.
I think both of these changes were suggested by colourblind people, at least the movement of the red circles was and anet acted on it.

Phage I would advise you to stop being rude to everyone who disagrees with you. They are entitled to their opinion as you are entitled to yours. This issue, as far as I can see was that certain zones were empty most, if not all of the time. The new daily ensures that at least part of the time these zones will be filled with players.

I also disagree with your opinion. There is nothing at all in the game that requires you to to complete the wintersday or regular daily other than a few AP.

If you are not willing to put in enough effort to just WP to a different map or try one of the other 9 other daily options then I dont think you should get AP. I think its a good thing that players can no longer get AP for essentially doing nothing every day and Im enjoying the new system more than the old.

I agree it needs work, in particular scaling in low level maps, but I definitely don’t want to see a full reversion to a generic ‘do events’ daily again.

Almost everyone who played GW1 seems to want a cantha expansion for GW2 based on how great it was for GW1.

Ive been playing gw1 in my spare time over the past few months, just recently finished cantha and it just don’t get it?

Not trying to say it shouldn’t come back, I would just like peoples opinions on why they feel its so great.

I honestly found it worse than nightfall and eotn. 2/3 of the map were ugly. Kaineng city graphics seemed poorer quality compared to the rest of the game. The story itself was OK but ruined for me by the voice acting and irritating ‘protect master togo’ missions.

Is it simply because I missed the hype and newness of the game when it was first released? Or the fact Ive been playing with heros rather than real people?

whats the best and worst sigils?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zombyturtle.5980

zombyturtle.5980

As far as I can tell, sigils that boost damage the most are favored in PVE so
Bloodlust, Night, Force, Strength. Its because you dont really need extra heals or other support in order to complete most PVE content so you might as well max dmg and complete it faster.

Least favoured seem to be the ones that boost dmg against a specific enemy. I assume this is because they have a such a niche use its not worth having a weapon take up an inventory slot just to dedicate to them. Especially for the ones that have no corresponding dungeon. e.g ogre.

I dont really pvp much :|

Why do you think that players need to be “encouraged” to take part in content? If the content is fun for them they will do it. And there is no “talk to an NPC” choice (from what I’ve seen) so I don’t know why you bring that up.

The reduction of choices is a continuing theme in GW2 lately that is a problem for many players and which could turn into a problem for Anet if players are unhappy enough to leave.

As i said before I think people should take part in all wintersday content if they want the rewards.

The festival achievements already cover every activity, why do the festival dailies have to require them as well?

To keep people returning to the activities and to reward participation in actual wintersday events.

Why should you be rewarded for wintersday activities when you refuse to take part in half of them?

Winterday Feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zombyturtle.5980

zombyturtle.5980

Last year I got the rewards because dailies contributed to the meta. This year I cannot get the upgraded title (to the one I had), and a second mini (to compliment the one that I already had), just because they changed the daily system.

And somehow this all makes me lack skill and I should be punished for that? Because there is something invalid about wanting to ascend to another tier of something that you had already completed the year before.

PROBLEM: Broken dailies. SOLUTION: Shun everyone without “skill”.

Such wisdom from this forum lately!

You can get the mini and achievement without doing a single daily.

If you find the bell choir difficult you can choose the lower tier and play the very first song once a day. This is the easiest and has very few notes. If you are still taking damage then here is a video which shows when to press the correct notes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeFHhoIwGtE

Give it at least 3 rounds of practice. You should find it a little easier.

This thread wasnt really about the dailies not contributing to meta though. It was about the choice of dailies themselves.

I do agree with your suggestion that complete could be changed to simply participate, although many posters in the other thread indicate this is already the case if u hang around long enough.

Someone in that thread answered that they believed doing this resulted in the “Participate in an Activity” non-festival daily being satisfied with this action. I went in-game and stood in the Jumping Puzzle until it was over to see what happened. Only the “Participate in an Activity” daily was completed. It did not complete the Wintersday Festival JP Daily. The Bell Choir Daily did not complete either when I stood in it until the end.

Apologies for that then. I never tested it myself. I did agree with the suggestion to change to participate but I have stated my arguments why in my opinion more dailies isnt a great solution. Im sorry if people get so upset that i disagree with them but im not doing it out of spite or a sense of superiority.

Not only does it give them a reason to at least try some activities they might dismiss out of hand because its a game mode they havnt enjoyed before (snowball mayhem) but it also keeps the activities, well active lol so they dont die out within a week of release.

If doing 1 of these activities is so unfun and awful for someone then they can easily ignore the daily and try again the next day. Its not like they lose anything other than 1 laurel which can be got simply by logging into the game now.

Id be more inclined to agree with you if there were unique rewards tied to the daily, but there arent.

Theres a limited amount of wintersday content thats repeatable. I think its reasonable that for the wintersday dailies you have to participate in the main wintersday content aka the activities. A choice of two seems completely reasonable considering theres only 5.

Less choice in my opinion is actually a positive thing as it encourages you to take part in wintersday content rather than take the easiest options such as talk to an NPC then leave. It just happens that today was bad luck for you who cant manage to complete 2 activities. Try again tomorrow there might be 2 activities you enjoy and can do then.

I disagree with this suggestion for the reasons people have already mentioned

You can already switch gear if you put in effort and acquire ascended. I think its good to reward people for their short term effort with extra convenience long term.

Exotics are already quite easy to come by, making them account bound gives people 1 less reason to repeat content and actually play the game.

It would horribly affect the economy, making most drops even more worthless both through devaluing of exotics on the TP and inflation of gold due to 1 less gold sink. (ok it might be small but its there nevertheless)

Really festival daily isn’t that hard. If you cannot manage to complete either the JP or 1 song on bell choir then you don’t deserve the rewards. You have to accept that you are not skilled enough and either try and improve or give up and not get that laurel.

Almost every other game in existence withholds certain rewards if you cannot complete certain content and IDK why people expect guild wars 2 to be any different.

Wintersday JP - Why is it set up this way?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zombyturtle.5980

zombyturtle.5980

Wintersday JP is part of content known as ‘activities’ aka Mini Games.

Because some of these activities are competitive and pvp based, such as the snowball mayhem mini game, Anet uses the PVP code and structure for them.

Unfortunately, to save time and money presumably, they made it so ALL activities, even non competitive ones use the same basic code.

Therefore in activities like wintersday JP you see aspects of PVP like the timers, scoreboards and enemy players.

I would love to see non competitive activities work on a different structure, mainly so we can enter as groups, but also to avoid the problems you listed here, but it doesn’t seem to be high on Anets priorities so we just have to live with it.

Maybe stability changes are necessary but really is it that hard to delay their implementation a couple of weeks to ensure there is no resulting negative impact on other parts of the game.

I recently made a topic suggesting all activities should be entereable as a party and now the only activity where this was doable has been reverted…lol

Activities should be available to parties

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

zombyturtle.5980

With the third wintersday about to release I thought I might as well bring up a topic that has been bothering me since day 1 release.

Activities such as snowball pvp, bell choir and other non Wintersday activities should be playable with friends. I know from my perspective half the fun is sucked out of what would otherwise be fantastic content as I cant enjoy it with my friends.

It has been suggested time and again to allow 2 different modes of entering these activities, one for solo players and another for groups. This would work similar to how pvp tournament queues work and ensure balance and fairness in competitive activities.

Im actually getting quite tired of seeing this same suggestion made over and over again and feel something really needs to be done as there is alot of wasted potential in many activities already in game which a fix could greatly improve.

Im aware that its far too late to change anything for this wintersday but I feel its time to start working on a fix for this. Anyone agree or disagree?
