Please support this game mode.
Thanks!
As a fan of dungeons, I feel your pain. Even though I have avoided Stronghold like the plague.

I’d be interested in learning more! At what times is your guild typically most active? Are there some specific professions you feel light or heavy on?
Our main activity is roughly 6pm Eastern through around midnight Eastern. We have people who play outside those times, but as a smaller guild, it’s somewhat limited. We’d love to expand on those hours, but if you aren’t available during those times, it can be hard to get to know everybody.
As far as professions go, we have a bunch of multiclassers, so rarely do we find ourselves without something we need. (And for dungeons, let’s be honest, it barely matters what people play.)

Hey everybody! We’re still looking for folks who are hoping to learn and run dungeons and fractals!
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Thanks to everybody who’s applied so far! I’m just about done processing the first set of applications. We’re still looking for more candidates who want to learn/do dungeons and fractals!

Look. All we want, is consistency.
2 Iron Ores > 1 Iron Ingot
2 Silk Scraps > 1 Bolt of Silk
2 Thick Leather Sections > 1 Cured Thick Leather Square
2 Hardened Leather Sections > 1 Cured Hardened Leather Square
3 Softwood Logs > 1 Softwood PlankPlease fix it, thank you.
They really cant fix that because the players decide how many ingots, bolts, and squares are in the game. They don’t actually drop on a loot table.
The raw has more value than refined because the raw materials can provide crafting exp by producing the refined version. So people leveling crafting buy the raw version more often.
I think “>” here is meant to represent the recipe/crafting process, not a comparison of value. Think of it as “→” instead.

Hello friends! I’m Karaoke, guild leader and punintentional comedian extraordinaire from MEGA, a 4-year old social guild. We’re a small guild (~50 members with 5-15 online most evenings) and like it that way. We’ve been around since launch and have shifted our focus over time… we used to be incredibly casual, but then we shifted into dungeons, fractals, eventually raids… and now most of our members are ready to slow things down again.
Most of us are playing GW2 for the social aspects rather than anything particularly competitive and we’d love to have a few more friends to join us. We want people who:
- Will get on Discord and talk to us
- Are interested in doing dungeons and/or fractals for an hour or two at a time
- Aren’t jerks, trolls, really super opinionated, or angry about random stuff
- Are reasonably comfortable with the game and its mechanics (but if you’re new to dungeons, we’d be happy to teach you)
- Like pictures of fluffy cats and dogs
- Play regularly in the early US evening time, roughly 6pm-12am Eastern (3pm-9pm Pacific). It’s cool if you play in addition to those times, but if you’re never available in those ranges, you’ll be missing out on most of us.
I’ve tried to show these things in graphical form… click here for a social/skill chart. Our logo represents the approximate range of player we’d like.
We have a recruiting website with more information and a link to our application.
We’re not a 100% rep guild, so it’s cool if you have a WvW guild, raid team, etc. that requires rep for certain events.
Feel free to ask questions in the comments. Hope to hear from some of you! #getunicorned <3

I’ve just had a two hour in game conversation with the OP via whispers and quote "being the “nice one” typically doesn’t get you anywhere in life". On responding to me asking him why he thinks its ok to be a kittenbag, he responded with “why wouldn’kitten it works more often for most cases on aand off game”.
I tried giving an example of him getting a new job with no experience and being the guy that tells his boss that he can do his job better than the boss and he replied back that he’s done that and it provides new perspective to his boss.
The entire conversation summed up to him saying not playing friendly with people and being a jerk is more productive and meta builds aren’t good to him because he personally didn’t test or come up with them and he doesn’t wan to run them.
If anyone want screenshots of the conversation, I’m willing to provide.
Literally none of this surprises me.

So many people completely ignorant to the point of this thread and instead harp on about meta this and meta that. trying to assault for for disliking mindless meta drones. Whatever
I’m done with this thread, I’m obviously not going to get through to you people.Hopefully things change and the toxic players move on. I’m dissapointed at the people in this community.
Such a shame so many homed in on meta and ignored everything else like I wounded them deeply because of my dislike of meta. Pathetic.
Your point was washed away by a torrent of insults and insinuations.
Next time, try a more neutral approach.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
im starting to believe hes a good troll.
we got baited?
Probably. Surprised the thread’s lasted this long.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Had you actually been constructive instead of homing in on meta and defending it like a mindless sheep then maybe we could have gotten somewhere constructive.
I’m not defending the meta at all. I’m explaining why you’re a high-risk player based on your attitude.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Ask me to drop a skill or take an alternative? Like the shield or legend? Sure no problem. What matters is the attitude and mindset. Do not ask me to adopt meta clone, I will not do it. When met with this, I meet hostility.
The term for this is “high-maintenance.” As a raid leader, I can’t trust you to do the right thing automatically, nor can I just tell you what I want. Instead, I must tiptoe around making sure not to offend your sensibilities.
I would not invite you back to my groups and that is why. You’re too much work. I can’t devote that much energy to you while still successfully leading the group.
I’m sure you won’t like that answer, but that’s me keeping it 100.
Wrong. It’s just your mindset. I happen to do perfectly fine on my own or with a team, you just have the mindset of everyone is incompetent and must follow your directions or they will not perform to standard.
I do not get offended easy. What I am offended by is the terrible sense of community when it comes to raids, it’s sad when someone cannot enjoy content because people who have attitudes and hostility happen to had time to get into positions first.
I don’t think you’re incompetent, I think you’re a poor team player, difficult to manage, and likely to lead to group drama. This thread is a good example. You don’t mesh well with other raiders… and worse, you don’t seem to care about that. Or you think it’s our problem.
If you can’t play well in a team, it’s not crazy for the team to decide you don’t belong.

Btw timmyf, are you lokikaraoke?
I’m /u/lokikaraoke on reddit, @mega_karaoke on Twitter, Super Mega Happy Fun Time Guild on Youtube, and Karaoke on a few random sites (gw2wvw.net, northernshiverpeaks.org). Everything else is probably an imposter! ;-)
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Because it’s ignorant thinking. You seem to expect people to understand and perform to a level you like immediately when they are new to something. Unrealistic and ridiculous.
My issue is with thinking like yours. You don’t understand the point of this thread.
The community is too hostile to even get to the point you are talking about, you are pulling an unrealistic situation out your kitten that is irrelevant to the topic at hand, one cannot even get to the point you are on about because of hostility from “leaders” in these fields.
Except I don’t. I happily run training sessions for my guild members. I just expect a few things in return:
1) Exotic or better gear and appropriate food, runes, sigils, and build
2) A good attitude and willingness to adjust if I ask
3) A commitment to run for a two hour session (which includes breaks)
We haven’t talked about #3, but you meet #1 by my standards. The issue is #2. You freely admit to not knowing about raids, but you’re incredibly hostile about changing your build. Those of us who do know have tried to explain it, but you’re just slinging insults instead.
To my eyes, it looks like you can’t distinguish between things that are appropriate or inappropriate during raids.
During the raid, it is rarely (if ever) appropriate to be discussing builds, composition, or strategy. This is limited to times when something is clearly lacking and must change for success. This happens more often during progression when you are learning the encounter than during training runs or clears.
If you want to be in a group with a leader, you must be leadable. You’ve given ample evidence that you’re more interested in arguing than listening. There are literally dozens of people I could grab at any moment who are interested in listening to me, not arguing with me.
As a raid leader, why would I accept the person who’s shown only hostility toward me and players like me?
You don’t go in a job interview and tell the company they’re idiots. Not if you want the job, anyway. Represent yourself in a more positive fashion and you may see better results.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
When you understand that I’ll address you again.
Is it going to be my turn soon? Because I explained to you why you’re a liability to any raid team, yet you seem to just want to pick fights.
But I guess that’s the point of this thread.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
What I have said is I will change to fit a roll using my own experiences and thoughts, not just copy/paste a build because it’s demanded of me.
As a leader, I can’t put myself in a situation where I’m arguing with my raid members about traits, skills, or weapons. That’s the fastest way to dramatown there is.
If I’m leading a group and I ask something of my members, I need them to do it. Without question (during the run, afterward is fine.) Period.
You seem unleadable, at least in high-pressure situations. No leader has the time to explain every single choice for 9 other people during a run. (And you certainly don’t deserve special treatment.)
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Eh, his build is probably alright except for Hardening Persistence potentially drawing aggro. That’s really not the issue. He’s 95% running the meta build.
But for somebody who’s 95% meta to have such a negative attitude toward the meta? It’s likely a sign of large attitude issues. Huge red flag.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Begins the conversation with insults. Wonders why people refuse to take him into raids.
OP, in case you don’t realize it, calling people “meta clones/drones” is not exactly the way to get them to help you. Based on the attitude you’ve shown here, I wouldn’t welcome you into my guild or my raid.
You can keep saying “it’s not about me,” but it is about you. It’s about your bad attitude toward the rest of the community.
That attitude wasn’t built by a failure to find a raid group. You ALREADY had it when you went looking. It’s easy to identify and it’s the reason you’re having issues finding people to play with.
When you’re ready to be a part of a team and you communicate that out to others, you’ll find more success. You need to drop the defensive attitude and open yourself up to the team strategy.
I look at it the same way I view team sports like basketball or football: there’s lots of winning strategies, but you can’t have each player picking their own strategy. You need one single team strategy and all the players have to buy in to that.
You might be Lebron James, but if you can’t play on a team, you can’t win.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Yes, change it to the male variant.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
I’d recommend the Soothing Mist trait over auramancer. SM ticks for like 1k+ and can be maintained on the whole raid.
Use Geyser to heal poison carrier if needed, don’t run with them so you keep SM up.
Build is super easy to play and very strong. Just run around and make sure you tick everybody with SM.

I strongly dislike both AR-gating as well as the instability system. Will Fractals fulfill my 5-man end-game content desires?
(I know the answer to this, I’m just pointing out that there are reasons to dislike Fractals beyond just the encounters. The systems used in Fractals range from “mostly ignorable” to “relatively unfun.”)
As far as instabilities, they’re updating them and will be removing some of the dumber ones and replacing them with better instabilities. I asked them this during the most recent AMA and they confirmed they have plans to improve instabilities substantially.
For AR, it’s really hard to say. AR was such a non-issue for my personal experience in Fractals that I’m surprised that so many people feel so strongly against it. It is certainly a difficult to grasp system, but the gating itself is very easy to overcome if you actually play the content and progress. By design, you are not intended to be doing 90+ out of the gate.
By my understanding, all of these things will get better with seasonal patches in the future. Fractals now more than ever are the supported end-game content for 5-player groups, and the team is hard at work ensuring that they actually do get more enjoyable for a wider audience.
I definitely appreciated the updates they’ve done so far.
The main problem with AR is that it creates a barrier for 1) playing with newer players and 2) class-switching. While it’s no big deal for me to have multiple toons with the AR necessary for T4 fractals, that’s a pretty huge expense for newer players, especially players who don’t have full ascended.
And since it’s nearly impossible to get ascended drops from Fractals outside of T3+4, there’s no good way to work up to it.
Furthermore, all of the current incentives are to ONLY do T4 fractals (lol @ the two lower-scale dailies), so it’s hard to talk people into doing lower scales to help people earn tokens to buy AR.
Anyway, it’s sort of off-topic, so I’ll leave it at that. I do hope they find ways to improve the system.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
I still think that I would have more fun with a super challenging 5 man content than the current 10 man raid. Even if I prefer the 10 man raid, than no challenging content like before.
For reference, the Fractals team has been interfacing with the Raids team with the eventual goal to convert every Fractal into a much more compelling experience with greater depth of difficulty at high scales. We saw this first with the Cliffside revamp, and will continue to see it in more Fractals in the future.
Fractals are ANet’s intention for end-game 5-man content, whereas Raids are the end-game 10-man content. Once everything gets to a good place with Fractals, it should fulfill your desires there.
I strongly dislike both AR-gating as well as the instability system. Will Fractals fulfill my 5-man end-game content desires?
(I know the answer to this, I’m just pointing out that there are reasons to dislike Fractals beyond just the encounters. The systems used in Fractals range from “mostly ignorable” to “relatively unfun.”)
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
tl;dr the chance of getting an ascended box from running three daily tier 4 fractals is a lot higher than the chance of getting an ascended box from running the Master’s tier daily before the patch.
Sure, but here’s the rate I really care about: now versus the pre-HoT 40+50 runs. This is a rough estimate, but I find my old 40+50 runs didn’t take much longer than the three T4s now thanks to everything being horrendous bags of HP. Instabilities, previously ignorable, don’t help and greatly reduce my personal fun factor.
40 had about half the droprate of 50, so my gut feeling is that it’d end up being better than the current T4 chain. And imho way more fun.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
[KING]’s data is what I was referencing. Previously, doing your dailies gave you about a 16% chance to get an ascended chest. Now, doing them gets you about a 24% chance for one.
I know it’s RNG/small sample size and whatnot, but I’m not seeing anywhere remotely near those drop rates. If this were the case, you’d expect an ascended drop most every run. (If my math is correct, with 5 players and a 24% chance of an ascended chest, 75% of the runs would have at least one ascended drop?) Does that feel like the case to you guys? Because it definitely does not to me.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
I just want to chime in here and add in a reality check
This is very true, but if you go back and read, each one of us included those caveats in our post. I don’t think we were being particularly misleading in saying “an hour or two per wing once you’ve spent the weeks/months learning the fights,” to paraphrase.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
My group is experience, with good build, foods and players that killed each boss at least 10 times each. We complete both wings (6 bosses) in less than 2 hours when everything go well. We have less experience with matthias, I bet we could complete all 6 in 90min eventually. But it also took us 12 hours to kill VG the first time. So ya, it all depend on the experience of your group.
Our less experienced group can complete the 1 wing in 2 hours.
I’ll second this. My guild of very mixed skill (we have some pros and some not-so-pros) is able to clear both wings in roughly 2 hours. That includes breaks, mistakes, and random stoppages.
That said, it’s taken us months to get to that point. We previously would take about 2 hours to clear a single wing. And that was only after weeks of learning the bosses.
We’re about to start training up a new group of people, I’m very curious to see what our run times look like with 2-5 new players…
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Then he finally wrote: sorry my first time here……
Stupid elitist checks – gear pings, LIs, etc – don’t come out of nowhere. It’s not like most people wake up in the morning and think, “How can I be a complete jerk to strangers today?”
(But yes… those people do exist…)
Instead, all this “elitist” stuff comes from HORRIBLE experiences with people, usually many times over. Eventually you get tired of it and try to find some way to avoid it.
I’ve heard Fractal pugs are really hit or miss lately, but guildies have definitely shared stories of picking up pugs who clearly don’t have AR in high tier Fractals.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
We’ve gotten a great response so far, thanks everybody! There’s one area where we’re still a little light: casual players (open world, leveling, dailies, that sort of stuff) in the late NA (10pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific and later) time frame. We’re still taking applications from all player types, but that role in particular could use a boost. Hope to hear from you!
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
If PvE isn’t fun to you anymore, stop playing it. And stop getting into arguments on forums about things you don’t enjoy.
I can’t make you do these things, ofcourse, but since you’re very high on your 17 years of life experience I thought I would add some helpful life advice from my experience. You’ll be happier in the long run if you limit your interaction with upsetting things.
This advice can be hard to follow, but it’s good advice. I try to tell myself semi-regularly, “It’s okay to not have an opinion on this. Or to have an opinion, but to not feel strongly about it.”
It’s weird how the internet seems to push all opinions to the extreme. Like, if a friend told me chocolate ice cream sucked, I’d say, “Well, it’s not my favorite, but it’s good. I don’t think it sucks.”
But on the internet, that would turn into a 300-comment thread that ends up as a discussion of something completely different.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
It doesn’t surprise me that STIHL doesn’t understand how a good player can carry a raid team or how a bad player can ruin it… You’ve not even killed VG, right?
We have a chrono who makes sick plays. Like hitting a 1s distortion share when a player is about to get flamewalled. I’ve made a few great plays myself with Transfusion on Matty G, pulling 3 downed players out of wells.
You’re criticizing something from a position of ignorance and it’s obvious.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Yeah because you can compare the fail rate of raids with dungeons and fractals. Haha nice joke.
The only joke in this topic is that people think Raids are special or hard.
Well they require double the people and require fixed roles, so it takes longer to start. And if somebody rage-quits, you get 9 people standing around waiting (an often long time) to replace them.
It’s not that they’re hard, it’s that they are a considerably larger organizational challenge.
WHEN PUGGING, it’s best to ensure competent players to keep from people getting upset and leaving.
With guild runs, friendslist runs, whatever, it’s much easier to be forgiving. I don’t mind taking extra time helping guildies learn the content because they’ll run with me again in the future. I’m INVESTING my time in their development.
I don’t necessarily care to do that for strangers.
If that makes me toxic, then fine. I’m toxic.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
However, let me ask you a question. Why should I go through the effort to learn Wing2, if I already feel that the Raid game mode inspires a toxic community, and because of that, is not something I want to support?
It’s nobody’s responsibility to convince you to do the content. If your attitude is going to be “why should I bother, you’re all toxic” then I’d just prefer you not be in the raiding community.
“Hey you stupid toxic kittens, convince me to play with you” isn’t really the way to go about it.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Thanks everybody for the interest so far! We’ve got a few invites out already with some more coming soon. Feel free to PM me for your application status, I’ll try to check in here daily.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
I think some people are really forgetting the important point here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0la5DBtOVNI
If you’re not interested in spending 10-20 hours learning a challenging fight, raids probably aren’t for you.
If you’re not interested in overcoming the challenges of forming a coordinated, skilled group of 10 players, raids probably aren’t for you.
If you’re not interested in having to gear additional characters, switch around your builds, try stuff out, fail, and then adjust, raids probably aren’t for you.
And as the video says, it’s okay to not like things! But don’t be a kitten about the things you don’t like.
Also, to the biggest complainer who says nobody wants Viper Reaper, my guild runs 2 every single week, so I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Hey Zach! My small, social guild is looking for people, though we tend to do a lot more voice chat (on Discord) than in-game chat. Check us out, though! Our recruiting site is getunicorned.com.
Best of luck in your search!
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Hi everybody! I’m Karaoke, guild leader for MEGA, a small-ish primarily PvE guild based on NA servers. For all the information you could possibly want, you should check out getunicorned.com, but here’s a few things you might want to know…
- Our voice chat is on Discord and we use it heavily. If you’re the type to hang out on voice and yap, there’s a good chance you’re our type. <3
- We’re looking for players with a pretty big range of skill, everything from casual open world players to raiders. We like to try to maintain a mix!
- We have a number of players who like to teach content, so if you’re looking to learn dungeons, fractals, or raids, we might be a good choice. (And if not, that’s okay too!)
- While we have players who participate in WvW, PvP, etc., if that is your primary focus, we’re probably not your best choice.
- We strive to avoid being an “lfg” guild where players simply use the guild as a way to fill parties. We want to get to know you! (And you should want to get to know us!)
- Our goal population is 15-20 active players on during our main hours. We’re below this now (hence the recruiting), but we are not looking to have hundreds of active members. Large enough to have people to play with, small enough that everybody knows everybody, that’s the goal.
- We love all gamers. If you can’t be respectful to women, LGBT gamers, or people of different politics/faiths/races, please do not apply.
Questions are welcome in the comments, via PM, or via in-game whispers/mail (Loki Karaoke – timmyf.1490).
More info and apply at getunicorned.com. Hope to hear from you!

Question(s) for you, Mo. These Legendaries have seemed to take an absolutely exorbitant amount of time to create. Is that primarily due to the precursor crafting elements of them? Despite being happy with the final result, do you think the labor required to create these expansive collections has been way too high for the “playable content” most players experience?
Basically, any lessons learned from the journey?
(For what it’s worth, my questions are a bit leading because I don’t see collections as “content” per se, just a system that makes you do other content. It doesn’t really make the game world bigger, it just serves to drive you toward specific things. This game, to me, has a huge lack of new content, and shifting six people from building collections to building new content is a change I support.)

What they were saying was still hurting ANet
If negative comments about ArenaNet or their content get you kicked from partner programs/raid testing/whatever, I think there’s a long list of people who apparently got exceptions (and continue to get them regularly). And if being salty, offensive, or childish gets you kicked, I can think of a handful of streamers ArenaNet regularly promotes who deserve the boot.
This seems inconsistent with ArenaNet’s past actions and specific to either a) raids or b) DnT. In the end, ArenaNet gets to make their own decisions about who to include or not include. No problem there. But the public shaming on the forums, including leaving the post open for comments (and then almost certainly abuse) seems out of character for them and (imho) rather distasteful.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Wait, is this all because of a hashtag?
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
If you want to consistently run fractals in a particular way (clean and non-exploity) you’re going to need a dedicated group or guild for that. No one is forcing you to run with PUG’s, but there are catches if you decide to do so.
It says a lot about the state of instanced content in this game that the expectation of pugs is that you’ll exploit. And that if you don’t want to exploit, you better find a dedicated group or guild.
Especially since the content is so easy.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
A very non-negligible portion of the playerbase enjoys instanced 5-man content. … These players are being told that they can’t make money playing their favorite content. It’s a real shame.
This. I don’t really enjoy open world stuff. I do enjoy instanced PvE, WvW, and occasionally some sPvP. I guess I just don’t enjoy enough of the game to deserve to make decent gold anywhere now?
I’m looking forward to raids, but it’d be nice to still have a more casual option as well.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
raids which have been stated to have a 15% chance drop rate for an ascended box per boss (so ~2 group members will get ascended loot per boss per week). Even at it’s height, fractals were nowhere near that rate.
I just looked up KING’s droprate research. I’m seeing 4.2% weapon, 11.9% armor, 11.7% skin.
Now, you can definitely argue that a Fractal 50 takes a lot longer than a raid boss – or at least once people figure all them out and start farming them – but let’s not be misleading about the droprates in Fractals.
I thought Anet had said 15%, but 4.2% and 11.9% are significantly higher than anywhere else in the game so my point still stands. That said, how did he do his droprate research? May I see the link?
EDIT: I thought you were talking about raids, but KING’s research is for fractals. If the 15% is for raids, my point still stands in that raids have the highest drop chance in the game up until now.
FRACTALS had 4.2/11.9%. That means FRACTALS had 16%. If raids have 15%, that’d basically be in line with old Fractals.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18IHVJao5j85KOp6lBTOgO8qs4VYD3Xty-jKPZo8o-Q4/pubhtml#
Edit: haha that ninja edit!
Percentages don’t work in a cumulative manner like that, so no, fractals did not have a 16% chance.
Who taught you math?

I thought Anet had said 15%, but 4.2% and 11.9% are significantly higher than anywhere else in the game so my point still stands. That said, how did he do his droprate research? May I see the link?
EDIT: I thought you were talking about raids, but KING’s research is for fractals. If the 15% is for raids, my point still stands in that raids have the highest drop chance in the game up until now.
FRACTALS had 4.2/11.9%. That means FRACTALS had 16%. If raids have 15%, that’d basically be in line with old Fractals.

Edit: haha that ninja edit!

I don’t think Anet will lock this behind HoT by requiring the Maguuma Mapping gift
They locked it behind HoT by requiring masteries to purchase collection items.

raids which have been stated to have a 15% chance drop rate for an ascended box per boss (so ~2 group members will get ascended loot per boss per week). Even at it’s height, fractals were nowhere near that rate.

I’d like to have fun and earn decent gold while I do it. I was hoping that the updates to Fractals and Raids would allow that. For now, it doesn’t really seem like it?
I’ll pick fun over rewards 95% of the time, so if raids are fun, I’ll still happily do them. Would have been nice to get a bit more gold from them, though.
Well luckily Anet has found a solution for people like us! For a small fee, you can buy gems and turn them into gold!!!!!
You don’t have to bother with dungeons and fractals since they nerfed them to kitten. Now all you have to do is pull out that plastic and get your gems now!
I’m not really this cynical. I think their updates to the rewards systems are to encourage players to directly gather the items they’d like rather than earn gold or mats at the fastest available rate and trade what they don’t need.
For example, if I need charged lodestones, the old way might have been run dungeons a bunch and buy them on the TP from people who got them as drops but need gold instead. The “new way” they want us to play would be to figure out which map has charged cores/lodestones as a map reward, go there, and do events and stuff.
I think it’s a concerted effort to get players back into all the open world maps. You can make your own call about whether this is good or bad for you/the game, but that’s what I think is happening. Not a push for more money for gems.
