Speaking of, here’s PvP for Beginners Part 0 – Introduction / Get a kitten Build
More coming soon, hopefully this week!

<3 Arius. Xivor and I were just chatting last night about how we’d love GoM and DH to make it up to T3 for an NSP-GoM-DH matchup. :-)
You’re forgetting the massive T2 issue at hand still for that to become close to possible.
It’ll sort itself out eventually. The question becomes how. I think one server will end up getting selected as The One That Must Die and get double-teamed constantly.
Of course, I don’t know much of the T2 servers and their politics, so maybe that won’t happen.

The only real way to solve the problem is to turn WvW teams be created like EoTM color schemes; not individual servers but collections of servers, and simply create larger maps and have dynamic queue scaling to accommodate for more players.
Then on the back end, keep track of things like kills and claims by guilds based upon server, and use the data to create new team compositions for the next week to be more balanced. This creates a constantly-shifting experience and prevents bandwagoning to mid or lower-tier servers while emphasizing server loyalty – the bottom of the bottom will be raiding alongside the best there is, keeping things interesting for pretty much everyone involved.
Let’s bring the “successful” “WvW” “experience” of EOTM to WvW and kill the game mode for good!

This problem would not exist if everyone who has ever transferred up, had transferred down instead.
This is a silly comment. Then the servers would just flop around again. Temporary imbalances can’t be cured by a mass migration to low tier servers. They can be cured by migration between near-tiers.
The ideal Glicko ramp is gradual and smooth. We have too many cliffs. That’s why it seems so pointless.
The players created the cliffs by transferring up.
Players created the cliffs by transferring up poorly. I’m not sure why you think transferring down will work any better.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEW TAYLOR SWIFT SONG IT’S SO GOOD

Instead of mindlessly bumping this post, I thought I’d come back and reiterate how badly we’d like somebody to take our WvW footage and cut it in a video to “Shake It Off.”

As for other posts in here, I can vouch for MEGA also being a very good, nice, and friendly guild as well. (From when IMPS and MEGA were on an old server together.)
Likewise, we’ve always really enjoyed our time with the IMPS folks. <3

Hey Matt. First off, the copy/pasta is here if you want to see all that. I’d recommend reading it and checking out our website / Youtube as well.
I run a small-ish guild (current actives are probably about 15 during our peak, sometimes 20) called Super Mega Happy Fun Time [MEGA]. We’d like to add a few more and you seem like you could be a good fit. We aren’t noobish, but we do regularly bring in new players and have a number of casual players who can only play a few hours per week. We don’t necessarily care what your skill level is, but if your attitude is “I don’t know, but I’d like to learn/try/do!” then you’ll be a good fit.
If you’re more of a “hey, I am what I am, please don’t try to help me improve” type, we may not be as good of a fit. We’re always trying to help people learn new content, improve, and do more.
I’ve been especially interested in finding video makers! I try to put stuff together for our Youtube channel, but it’s mostly quick-and-dirty guides. I’d love to have additional content with higher production value.
The main issue is that we’re over on NA, so we can’t even hang out a bit to see if it’s a good fit. If you’re interested, though, ping me in game or here and I’d be happy to answer any questions. You’re also welcome to just join us on Teamspeak for a bit to see what we’re all about.
And if we’re not a good fit, no hard feelings, and good luck with your guild search!
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
And yea lol getting people to stop using pve builds in wvw
For the record, if anybody out there is interested in WvW but doesn’t know the first thing about it, we’d be happy to help! We even have a bunch of videos on YouTube meant to assist.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
I hope xivor isnt going nuts with whats going on over there, really hope it works out for your server and tier.
Xivor’s pretty busy and doesn’t get to play as much as he’d like, but we’re hanging with some guys from FIRE right now. We’re all pretty happy with the move. It’s tough right now, but this will pass. It’s better than spending all my time begging people to get on Teamspeak and stop using their PvE builds in WvW.

Thanks for the kind words, XTD!

Super Mega Happy Fun Time [MEGA] is a Northern Shiverpeaks-based social PvX guild. Our guild does not specialize in a particular type of content and we welcome players of all levels of experience, time investment, and skill.
We are a medium-sized guild looking for players who are looking for friends, not just party-members. A MEGA member should be mature, friendly, and social. A little irreverent, but always respectful. Interested in both growing as a player and teaching other members to do the same.
Our guild primarily communicates through Teamspeak, not guild chat. While we do not require voice comms for most guild activities (guild missions and WvW raids are the exception), you may find yourself a bit lonely if you don’t join in on TS. If you’re uncomfortable talking, you can always just listen in! (Especially if you like puns. Oh boy, the puns.)
Our population is primarily based in the 6pm-12am Eastern US time, but we are looking to expand both earlier (EU Prime) and later (late night Pacific US) in this recruiting drive, especially if you are interested in WvW during these times. (Note that we are not a WvW guild and typically do WvW a few times a week. Less at the time of this post given the T3 matchups lately…)
We ask that all potential members be able to accept the identity and choices made by other members as we believe all gamers should be entitled to a safe gaming environment. We have members who span the spectra of possible genders, sexual orientations, races, creeds, and political beliefs; we ask that you be tolerant of those with whom you differ. In addition, while we all swear a little, we have some younger members and frequently play with guilds who enforce family-friendly language, so we ask that guild chat be kept family-friendly and any TS channel with the (Clean) tag be kept so as well.
Our guild is especially interested in recruiting streamers, LPers, artists, and gamers willing to help build our YouTube channel. We’ve been working on putting some stuff up on the channel and would love to have more players interested in the double-duty of playing and producing. Here’s some stuff we’ve done so far…
LPs: Echoes of the Past / Tangled Paths / Seeds of Truth / Point of No Return
Guides: I Hit 80, Now What? / Ascended Crafting 400-500 for Cheapos
Just for Fun: Spelling with Peanut: Elder Dragons / Spelling with Peanut: Human Gods
If you are interested in joining, you’re welcome to leave a post here or message me in game with questions. New members are typically given a trial period so we can kitten whether it’s a good fit… and that goes both ways! If we’re not your type, no hard feelings. We’re not very focused on finding lots of players, but rather, we hope to find the right players. Hope that’s you!

Here’s a solution. 20% of SoS please go to NSP, 20% go to IoJ, and the rest stay put. That way T2 and T3 stay in balance. I think I can speak for all of FA when I say we really are not enjoying this week. We’re not getting good fights, and NSP and IoJ are certainly not enjoying being on the receiving end of our frustration.
Why should SoS be the one to fall into T3 alone? If you asked me, I’d say that each of the four T2 servers should send away a guild. 4 guilds leave, 2 each to NSP and IoJ. See how the matchups go for a bit and then balance more from there. I think it’d be better to have T2 and T3 be closer (for example, T2 is ~1800 Glicko and T3 is ~1700 Glicko) than just keep the wide gap between the two.
If FA doesn’t like this week… and I know SoS doesn’t like it when they’re in T3… and hey, DB and YB don’t like stomping when they get moved down… the solution isn’t to just cripple one of four. The solution is to cut a bit from each.
At least that seems like the most obvious solution.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
20 man groups are considered small fights in T1. Many people in T1 leave in search of those 20v20’s and are sick of the massive leg infested 60v60 blubs or not finding opponents to fight against who aren’t running 40+ on pin. Not sure what’s considered “large” and “small” in other tiers.
I believe the main issue stems from the lack of a GvG game mode. Many guilds move to a server so they can fight against specific guilds in that tier. This eventually causes an imbalance and you are left with the current T2/T3 situation.
I haven’t been in T1 since last year when SoR fell. I’d heard it was more 20 and 30 man groups now, but I guess I heard wrong?
Anyway, there are people who genuinely like the smaller skirmish stuff, and I don’t hold it against them. No reason to not have lots of different styles of WvW.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
If NSP and IoJ recruited to reach the size of FA/SoS/DB/YB, that’d likely imbalance a lot of other tiers.
Do people play on tier 7 or 8 for balance? 8 tiers might be too much to fill with the current WvW population. But people keep posting how healthy it is down there so maybe not.
I think the main point that a lot of T1/T2 folks miss is this: some people like the smaller scale stuff. Some people don’t want to run in 20 man groups and get into big fights.
I think it’s fine to have tons of people in the high tiers and less in the low tiers. Population isn’t necessarily the same as balance.
What I think everybody wants are close matches, matches that still matter on Wednesday and Thursday. Right now, you’re getting that in a lot of tiers, but T3 is just a joke.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
You left out buying guilds and recuiting in the community corner.
If NSP and IoJ recruited to reach the size of FA/SoS/DB/YB, that’d likely imbalance a lot of other tiers. Perhaps it’s just because I’m on NSP, but I think the real solution is for one of those 4 to decide it’s dropping to T3 and send a couple guilds to each of NSP and IoJ.
But given that has approximately a 0% chance of happening, I won’t hold my breath.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
It’s true that “casual” means different things to different people. And no, I don’t ever expect that EVERYBODY will take the time to learn their class well, run effective builds, and care about winning or not.
But I got the feeling that a lot of people on SoR weren’t just saying “I do not personally care to try to perform better as performance is a metric that does not matter to me” (an opinion that is perfectly fine to have), but rather “you are a bad person for trying to help players who choose to join you be better.”
My own personal breaking point on this was seeing GSCH members laugh at us for running WvW training events. High-ranking members. People important to the WvW community on SoR.
Anyway, I’m glad to see Fog taking a more active role in WvW lately and it looks like it’s doing a lot of good. I keep hearing about how much fun you guys are having over there, so I’m glad you found your niche, even if it’s a niche that is entirely uninteresting to me.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
From the PvE side, I think if you had:
- One toon of each profession with appropriate gear sets for both PvE and WvW content
- The ability to play all 8 in an effective manner
- A strong understanding of all builds, game mechanics, encounters, and strategies
- The ability to explain the above to other players in a way that they can understand and helps them be better
…you’d be among the absolute best players in the game.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
This is almost certainly a problem with the game outputting surround sound but you only having two speakers. If you have a surround sound system, check to see if there’s a Matrix option – this mixes left and right channel audio to form a center channel audio… but with the effect of silencing the intended center channel.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
It makes zero sense to have TDM in a Conquest queue. I have no issues with the map, but I’d rather not get thrown into TDM when I’m running a Conquest build and be a liability for my team.
The suggestion above to add 2 more TDM maps into a separate queue is a very good one.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Hi Sputmeister! Since you mentioned WvW as an interest, what server are you on? Also, what times do you typically play?
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Fantastic.
We had to move this idea to another table, but you should be happy to know that it is still on a table.
I couldn’t stop laughing at this one, and all of the table-themed statements.
Too bad some people dont have sense of humor and just removed it from reddit…
Or maybe somebody is kind enough to remove it after finding out that Rubi just lost a pet and maybe today isn’t the best day for an entire thread making fun of her?
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Again… Mouse Keys to use the + key to double click is technically 1 button press for 2 occurrences.
The standard has been one out of game action = one in-game action. One button press = one in-game double click. I’m 100% confident Mouse Keys are okay.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
In an ideal world, you’re right: we could all spread out and self-balance so there are good matchups across the board. You’d still have a difference between top and bottom tiers as some players prefer larger-scale fights than others, but the Glicko range would likely be smaller and the scale would be less bumpy. It’d be more of a slope graph and less of this… (see attached.)
That said, it’s not a perfect world, and you also have to consider the outsized egos of players on these servers. People get into fights, have differing strategies, and decide to change servers. Large guilds quit. Guilds that quit come back. etc.
So while it’s a nice idea, given the dynamic nature of servers and the extreme cost of transferring, it’s not going to happen.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Reminder: you can convert luck drops to exotic lucks using Artificer, greatly reducing the number of clicks required.
Don’t use an autoclicker, but feel free to set up Mouse Keys so you can press the + key to double-click instead of having to double-click on your mouse. Given that it effectively halves the number of presses, that should help considerably.

I own a G602, not a 600, and love it. It doesn’t have all the buttons, but I use my SteelSeries Merc keyboard for that anyway.
What I wanted to chime in with is this: everything I’ve ever heard about Razer mice is that they break. They don’t hold up. They’re poorly built. This comes from both anecdotal evidence (people I know) as well as reviews.
On the other hand, Logitech mice seem to last forever. I usually go 5+ years between upgrades, and even then only because of fancy new technology, not because the mouse broke.

You don’t understand the system.
You get laurels for logging in. You don’t need to do the dailies to get laurels. Finishing a daily awards a chest and three dailies awards 10 AP.
Laurels, Mystic Coins, etc are awarded for logging in. If you “miss” a day, you don’t miss out on that day’s reward. You get it the next time you do log in.

My impression of T3 is that it’s mostly guild groups of 10-25 with a couple pugs that join in. I primarily play during NA prime, so I can’t say what it’s like outside those hours. (And I’m new to the tier having transferred recently to NSP, so I’m working on just a few weeks of experience.)
No names? Just 10-25 different guilds with each other?
NSP’s main guilds seem to be GS RAID Os PB ZoS. Those seem to be the guilds routinely running 10-20 mans. There’s a ton of smaller havocs. Again, I’m pretty new to NSP, so apologies if I missed anybody.

Gray, I very often have to pay more for my internet. Or TV. Or a channel I like is moved to a different package, so I have to change which packages I have. I literally just changed up my TV/internet service a month ago for this very reason.
Change happens. If you can’t deal with minor changes in your life, especially in something like a video game, you’ll not be a very happy person.
Now, I understand games are an escape for many, but that doesn’t mean the basic rules of reality don’t apply.

Hey Addison! My guild is about to start recruiting again and we’re mostly Eastern US prime (6pm – 12am EST is our core group.) Just a few questions to help myself and others determine if you’re a good fit:
1) What server are you on? Server doesn’t matter for all that much anymore, but since you mentioned leveling in WvW, I figured I’d check. We’re on NSP.
2) What size guild are you looking for? Size is a pretty good way to narrow the pool: 5 -10 / 15 – 30 / 30 – 50 / 50+ actives in your time zone are all viable options but very different guilds. We’re about 10-15, but I’m hoping to bring that up to 15-20 with our next recruiting drive.
3) Any special requests? As an example, my guild uses voice chat (Teamspeak) heavily, so if you prefer to stay off voice comms, you wouldn’t be a great fit. We also tend to police behavior more than most guilds to help create a safe gaming environment, so if you don’t like to be “censored,” it’s probably not a good fit. Think of those intangibles and be choosy! The more detailed you can be, the better of a fit you’ll find.

Tier 3 is a mess
This is true, but it doesn’t necessarily have to stay that way. NSP and IoJ are pretty evenly matched, it’s just the rotating 4th place server from T2 that’s beating up on us. If a few guilds transfer in to NSP and IoJ, that’ll make the tier more competitive.
Of course, it’ll also help if one of those T2 servers would fall apart…
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
Luckily he got a level 20 exp scroll and fixed the issue that way – but honestly – whoever is giving good feedback on the NPE must be very strange.
My guild has a handful of new players – mostly LOTRO players who were bullied into getting GW2 by old clan-mates. They all have nothing but positive feedback about the systems so far. I haven’t heard a single complaint about leveling taking too long or being boring. They’re just enjoying the game.
You can assume they’re “strange” because you disagree. I prefer to think that veteran players are not the target audience of the NEW player experience.
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
So the NPE. I once made a character and started leveling it to try things out. For the most part I don’t like it, but it did do some things that I like. To this day I have not tried leveling a new character in order to avoid the NPE.
Usually the best feedback comes from people who have done something A LOT, not just a little and quit.
You wouldn’t take a GW2 review seriously if the reviewer only made it to level 17, right?
www.getunicorned.com / northernshiverpeaks.org
It would be better for T2 and T3 if you moved to NSP or IoJ. If a few guilds move into those two servers, T3 can perhaps become competitive and we’ll have three interesting tiers at the top.
Now, I’m partial to NSP, but we should all consider the overall server balance. Additional stacking on the 4 T2 servers is a bad idea.
Good luck with your move wherever you end up!

Legendaries have nothing to do with guild content. And no, they shouldn’t have a stat boost above Ascended.
As far as guild content goes, yes, there should be more. More variety in missions would be nice, but Guild Missions take about an hour once per week. I’d rather have fun things I can do with my guild the other 6.5 days of playtime.
