To start, no single update should ever be encompassed around a developers pet project.
Oh god this. EotM would have perfectly fine to simply introduce as a new area of the mists that had been discovered. Shoehorning Scarlet into everything is really unnecessary.
Anets response: “Hey this guys still playing a necro! Wow, I thought we got rid of those? Oh we didn’t? Just nerfed em into the ground? Outstanding!”
I initially liked Majory and whatshername. It was quite sweet. Now the coquettishness of it is annoying me.
Yay! I posted in the thread that marked the slow decline of GW2!
Lol Mag. The thing is, you’re probably proud of yourselves doing what you’re doing.
BUT YOU’RE STILL LOSING, so the joke’s on you.
4-5k on a CYCLE is not impressive damage. 2k on a rotation? I’m not one to exclude classes from group play but before you knock a zerker, make sure you’re even playing in the same league of damage. Let’s not knock a player who’s dropping your entire two “rotations” worth of damage in a single hit.
Ikr, don’t blame the necro though. For a while I thought my hybrid necro did great dmg in pve (cos I wanted it to be true). But after a lot of testing, I’d have to say pretty much all my other toons leave my necro in the dust. Kinda sucks.
I can see why people think that anet don’t play their own game. Only anet would claim that removing the ability to suicide on the buttons made the fractal easier, lol.
Scarlett is so bad that in a lesser game, I would just quit playing.
Totally. If this was a TV show, it would’ve been cancelled several months ago. Or at least, the studio would’ve fired the director and bought in someone new.
The funny thing about this is that even George Lucas learned enough from Phantom Menace to remove or tone down Jar Jar Binks in the next 2 films.
This is like he never took that criticism on board and put Jar Jar in everything.
Anet – for the love of GW1, you don’t have to use her for everything!!
Yes, they do because….
Spoiler Alert!!!
SCARLET IS ALL OF THE DRAGONS!!!
Not quite. There’s a certain damage threshold you need to pass to qualify for drop. Now, of course, there’s a finite number of players that can pass that damage threshold before mob is dead. For example, if the threshold was 2% of mob’s total hp, then obviously only up to 50 players could receive loot. The number is not set, however, for several reasons.
First, we don’t know the threshold. It may be 2% (so max 50 players). It may be 1%. It may be something else. Additionally the number changes if: some players deal more than their due, boss heals during fight, or condi damage is used (condi damage often doesn’t count for threshold, but does decrease mob’s hp). Scaling (both up and down) during fight can also mess with this heavily.
So, short answer: yes, there’s a finite number of players that can get the drops. No, it’s not 50 (or any set number).
When you put it like that, it kinda makes sense actually, cheers.
You didn’t do enough dmg to be entitled for the champ bag.
With event champs like Maw it gets rather difficult to tag if you are not there bashing it from the start and/or using gear that has lower DPS. (being in a party also helps)
If I was running around with a level 15 blues-wearing ranger at Maw, then sure. But this is a level 80, full ascended zerker ranger using Brazil’s (non-eugene) ranger build.
It just doesn’t seem very likely when my silly condition necro can turn up at the end of the fight and get a champ bag just for auto-attacking.
Thing is, if anyone would know it’d probably be this guy since he’s a very efficient champ farmer. I just didn’t know whether this is one of those things that the playerbase just takes for granted that I hadn’t heard of.
It would certainly explain why I occasionally don’t get champ bags, since I sometimes ahem hit auto-attack and go afk. Hence I’m probably not doing my best dps at an event where there are 100 odd people; e.g. maw.
Any chance of a dev weighing in please?
Was wondering why my warrior didn’t get a champ bag from the Shaman at the Maw event and a guildie said that champ bags are limited to 50 per champ in the event, so if you weren’t one of the top 50 DPS players hitting the Shaman, then you don’t get a champ bag. Is that correct?
cough salvaging rares and exotics gives 0-3 ectos, not 0-6.
Yeah OP, unfortunately the pinnacle of WvW open field is guard/war/necro blobs in pvt armor.
Something simple, like gold per each fractals level lost, would go a long way.
Yep, or an extra daily chest per level vis a vis the WvW reset. That was a very graceful way to manage the WvW recalculation.
For those that don’t know, when the WvW level system was revamped, those that had levelled in WvW before the change received an extra chest when they went up a wvw level. You got a number of extra chests equal to the progress you would’ve made if the system had been in place from the start.
I bought a car for 50,000 dollars. It’s now 20,000 dollars and comes with more stuff. RABBLE RABBLE I WANT A REFUND FOR MY HIGHER EXPENDATURES AND I WANT A FREE CAR WITH ALL THE NEW BELLS AND WHISTLES FOR MY TROUBLE!!
No.
Its more like having the bank casually change your bank account from $10000 to $7000 without asking you and when you ask why they don’t give you an answer, they just say “Going forward, everyone will earn 0.0001% percent more interest!!!”
You would be happy with that?
Anet – maybe I should record some of the chats I see in dungeon groups so you can see how much trouble this is causing. They usually go like this:
Player A: “why u not use pot?”
Player B: “they’re bugged dude”
Player A “lol ur a scrub wateva” kick
I’ve seen 3 of these in the last week. Other conversations don’t get that bad but because it isn’t even an anet confirmed bug, when I refer people to this thread they say “until anet confirms it, i’m just gonna keep using em”. In short, it’s causing damage to the dungeon running community.
Any chance of bumping it up the priority list please?
In a regular fractals party, my zerker thief always draws Mossman aggro but never draws the Shaman aggro when using pretty much the same tactics. Basically the only conclusion that I’ve drawn regarding aggro is that bosses seem to give different weighting to aggro factors.
My opinion is that they wanted increase guard dmg in PVP but they forget a little for PVE here.
This is probably true. I wish they would just balance separately for PvP and PvE and be done with it.
What worries me is staff change. I said why in this threat already .I hope they will reconsider it. Maybe they mean it as buff but actualy it is big nerf for everyone who use staff for faster traveling. And that is probably majority of staff users (i said probably, so i can be wrong. It is just my experience) Guardian already has low mobility, with that change he would have nothing to sustain good mobility. Waiting for full swiftness duration is counterproductive as complaining on buffs :-D
Personally I only use staff for wvw and/or mob skipping in dungeons and in that case I always have “retreat” slotted anyway. It’s an odd change but not a dealbreaker.
Guard has much better mobility than mes or engi (soon to be just mes). My mes is a horribly slow compared to my guard.
I’m cool with nerfing or buffing classes in a balancing patch, but I have to ask: why on earth did guardians get buffed?
I love that my guard got handed an extra 5% sword dmg free (free because there are no competing traits in that tier) but the dmg seemed great already so why did it get bumped up? Its not like parties were struggling on whether to bring a guard along in a dungeon, lol.
Also, I love that you dropped perma vigor from ranger, thief and engi but not from guard, hee hee.
Necro on the other hand, forget it. It’s already a joke in PvE. Now you’re just whipping an undead horse.

I agree with everyone saying the reanimator change is a game changer. It’s amazing.
Just remove dumbfire already…
“We are hearing everything you guys are saying and after careful consideration, we’ve decided to remove Dhummfire. Also, we really want to enhance the necromancer’s ability to be a tank, so we’ve increased Deathshroud by 1000% and reduced dmg across the board!!!”
Thanks for being an idiot. We don’t want to be impossible to kill. What we want is to not be overly reliant on a single trait because everything else has been getting nerfed to compensate for it. Removing Dhuumfire would promote build diversity, because as it currently functions, it simply cannot be balanced.
I was joking dude. I realise removing dhuumfire would actually be a positive thing but Anet in its current mood will remove it, then plonk a 20% dmg debuff on top of it, then buff our tankiness just for giggles.
Necros are impossible to kill? That’s interesting. You really must tell me how you survive 3v1 sometime.

It’s like ANet telling us: “For god’s sake just reroll a guard or warrior already”.
Well, they’re definitely telling us something. I’m not sure it’s that polite.
So the only thing SOS really accomplished this week when they were in conclusion with JQ, was make JQ players have it more easy than they would have had.
Was this really smart? Did you enjoy making it easier for them?
SoS has a lot of history with and respect for JQ. Whereas it seems you guys go out of your way to be jerks, on the forums at least. I know who I’d rather ally with.
Its kind of nostalgic seeing MERC on JQ, in a horrible wave-of-red kinda way, lol.
I personally feel Arena Net is being a bit too cautious with the necromancer.
I agree, but actually its kinda true of all the classes. They give class A some big whack of damage, act surprised when the forums go nuts, nerf it and get all gun shy about making further changes, citing that instance as the reason for caution.
Good to see your list includes having necros nerfed back into obscurity. Complete waste of a class.
I like the intent OP, but no. This would be exploited to hell by wvw guilds.
In pve, I see a lot of people using teleportation hacks at farming nodes but haven’t seen anything like this in wvw for a looooonnnnng time.
Maguuma doesn’t play for PPT we don’t care about the score board we have some of the best guilds and roamers in all of NA and you guys are all a bunch of mindless zergers anyway you hide behind arrow carts and stuff and that’s stupid blahblahblah
Dunning-Kruger FTW! lol
I was actually happy that we were matched with them this week as I thought I’d learn a few things from a top server. And wow did I learn… Unfortunately not about WvW but about political kittens.
The metagame politics is as much a part of the game as the actual fighting bro. Roll with it I say!
This dungeon is so faceroll easy I soloed it by having my cat dance on the keys… in 10 minutes!
I look forward to the next instalment of the living story where we find out it was ALL JUST A DREAM.
…or was it?
Of that list, I think I’d only filter on gear and only if its kittentastic greens or yellows in a hard dungeon. I think teamwork and knowing your class are more important.
I’m sure we’ve all been in groups where everyone was geared to the hilt but for one reason or another, it just didn’t work. The individual players may have been great but they all had different ideas about how things should be done.
4 HOURS DUNGEON!
This kinda sounds like bad news for necro pvp?
Yes, the sooner we get rid of this silly lazy condition meta the sooner we can get back to a silly lazy direct damage burst meta.
Why do you say mesmers are not viable OP? They look plenty effective to me from my position on the ground dead, lol.
I’m just saying that we don’t need to insist that sub-par specs be instantly brought to top-tier viability, because that’s a good way to get imbalance.
So bringing sub-par specs up to par with other specs creates imbalance? What an interesting argument.
I listen to the lonely island/Ylvis and spam lyrics into map chat.. no one ever knows what’s going on.
Holy kitten! SNAP! lol
Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Also, it’s super funny and chilled out to play PvP to Billy Joel. Just picture yourself stomping someone…

Hackgate used to solo towers all the time! :P
DoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOm!!!!!!
Invulns on a necro huh? You must be talking about a different class, or a different game maybe?
It seems what you are asking is for every possible build to have a method of pushing a button to beat their counter, at which point, why does having a counter matter?
Sil lives in a weird reductive world where all characters should have an answer to all other characters attacks. This will apparently lead to a utopia where we have the greatest possible variety in builds and fights will only be determined by “personal skill”.
And this game will be called “Pong”.
The message kinda got lost in there for me. I generally got “Everyone hates the meta just because” and “Everybody hates conquest just because”. He’s got some potentially interesting points but he needs to lay out his argument. Just stating it in different ways isn’t presenting an argument, it’s preaching to the choir.
Exactly! Necros should have access to a plastic spoon ONLY and be made to stand immobilised during matches so burst warriors and thieves can kitten on them easier.
And also, take away fear from necros. Fear is annoying because I have to use stability.
