I’m getting similar results on my system although not quite as bad (5-10 fps less than what I’ve been used to). One of the patches they released in the last few weeks seems to have a negative impact on performance especially in large wvw battles
agreed. the anti spam system is obviously flawed and needs to be reworked.
one of the devs mentioned that you will be able to request a refund for the piece of equipment you have bought twice.
I love the idea behind the mega server concept. hope you guys can iron out the kinks and fully implement the system as soon as possible.
So much crying over nothing. Set your WvW options to “low” or “very low” depending on your CPU speed and you won’t have any problems.
Is there any information if is an instanced zone or non intanced zone event like the player arrive the Crown Pavilion?
I’m pretty sure the speech will be instanced just like the previous content.
To me it shows that she can’t be trusted (Have you ever met a women that doesn’t like shoes?)She’s either an alien from outa space or someone in disguise.
I fear most of the players still there are the extremely serious farming players.
This.
Elitist hardcore players who think that gold is the only thing this game is worth playing for. Avoid at all costs.
I’m sorry… Really? This game is as casual as it can possibly be. I think Liadri may be the most difficult PvE element they’ve added and even that just takes a little practice, a little effort.
I had no idea people were complaining about personal story but having solo’d my personal story up until the final mission on several classes, I can safely say it’s doable for virtually any class. (Personally done it on Guardian, Warrior, elementalist, Mesmer, and thief.)
It may just be that you’re too casual… For even the casuals. There are a mere handful of challenging fights in this game.
Learn to play, the game was made for casual play, and apparently some can’t even manage that. It’s sad.
You obviously have no clue what casual means in gaming terms.
We all know that this game isn’t going to make it if we don’t get some real expansion, and with the upcoming new MMO’s that are coming out ANET and NCSOFT should be very scared.
Speak for yourself plz. Why would you want to wait 6 months for a big update when you can have a constant flow of smaller updates on a biweekly basis?
As for the upcoming MMOs that you mentioned, which ones are you refering to?
That video has a lot of misinformation in it. There is no “magic” way to boost your FPS in GW2.
I suggest you check your hardware first since 15fps average FPS is extremely low even for a midrange computer (Use Prime95 and Furmark). If the issue isn’t related to heat or faulty hardware, you should start running benchmarks like 3dmark to determine how fast your computer is compared to simliar configurations.

The setting adjustments you can make currently will expand beyond just WvW, and simply be a game wide setting you apply for culling rules. For most folks, this means you can adjust the settings to actually improve your performance over current performance if you wish, since fallback models and name-tags are cheaper than full model renders.
If you do want to turn everything up to insane, you also now have that option to see an extremely large number of people in all their graphics glory. The choice is entirely yours!
Can’t wait for the update.! I’d rather have a few fallback models and nameplates than <30fps in large Zergs.
If you’re an ATI user, do not use this driver, as it causes FPS drops/slowdowns in GW2. Keep using 13.4 or one of the 13.6 Beta drivers instead.instead.
As others have already stated, your CPU is too slow for GW2. I recommend upgrading to a cheap i5 2500k or an i7 4770k if you want >=30fps in huge WvW and PvE Zergs.
Well, hopes that these things would improve with experience is proven once again to be wishful thinking. IMO, this is by far the worst event in the Living Story chain to date and, yet again, another waste of developer resources.
You’ve taken a very free form MMO with a massive game world and reduced it to a stage on which to host the worst example of Theme park trash one could imagine.
The Queen’s Pavilion? Each piece of the pie is just a variation of a theme park exhibit of everything that is wrong with MMORPGs. Apparently, difficulty is supposed to make up for the complete lack of any redeeming design qualities, but it just makes the content as frustrating on a play level as it is on a design level.
I have to disagree. You’re basically complaining about temporary theme park content in a theme park MMO. As for the difficulty level, I think it’s perfectly fair to have content for both casual and core players. Zerging Legendaries using VIT/Toughness builds doesn’t require much skill and can be enjoyed by all players.
I’m pretty disturbed by the watchknights in this update.. I find it hard to believe that a Jenna, a confident, powerful female leader would endorse these glorified ‘fem-bots’.
I think it’s one thing for player’s avatars to be able to represent multiple facets of a particular gender (being living, sentient characters there’s an implication of personal choice, which i totally advocate), but an engineered construct that is overtly feminine (they even have high heels!) and overtly sexual (part of the art on their “anatomy” implies nudity) is worrying because they are representations of women with no agency of their own made to obey, whilst being thin, tall and busty, and worst of all silent. They are obedient, objectified women designed to serve.
I think I would less concerned if there was equal gender representation, but I’m yet to see any male watchknights, meaning that it’s a clear choice on the developers behalf. I dunno, I just don’t like it. It’s perhaps a small thing but I think it’s lazy and simplistic, particularly from a game that I think has some very compelling and engaging content that promotes collaboration, community, cooperation, compassion and a real sense of collectivity.
Interested in others thoughts.
I want those Watchknight High Heels on my female toon. That is all.
Also, more importantly. When in the world are they going to fix support w/ nvida cards?
I have two 560Ti OC in SLI and my performance in the game (especially wvw) is unacceptable. I overclocked my 3.3ghz quad core i5 to 4.0ghz quad core w/ 0
improvement. I also run the fastest possible 8gb DDR3 ram set and SSD hard drive.I know for a fact that a team on nvidia engineers went to your facility a couple weeks back to help you guys fix this, what is the ETA on this as well? Again, 2012? Q1 2013?
I think we would all like to know, because in its current state this game is not possible to play at 60FPS in every situation (and thats not even on your ultra or high settings).
I’m sure Nvidia would love to put in their infamous The way it’s meant to be played “support” but fortunately this game’s engine is not build around Nvidia drivers alone.

It’s a well known fact that GW2’s PVE is horrible.
Speak for yourself.
It’s a MMO…. What did you expect? Put them on your ignore list and report them for harassment. Case closed.
Not interested in any more town clothes, but I’d definitely spend money on armor & weapon skins.
Agreed. Clock Tower was fun but the camera needs some work.
It’s the same thing over and over again. People need to realize that the large majority of players are not power players and don’t care about forums and community websites. A friend of mine has been playing GW2 from the start and has just reached lvl 60. Granted, she’s a casual player who only plays for about one hour a day, but again, the majority of GW2 players are like that.
Personally I’ve been lvl 80 for some time now and I’m still exploring low level zones to get 100% map completion since I spent most of my time leveling up in WvW. The lower level zones may not be quite as populated as they were during launch but that was to be expected wasn’t it. In my opinion there are still enough players to interact with no matter where you go.
I just wanted to say that this event has got to be the best holiday event I have ever seen in a MMO. It even blows P2P Content Updates out of the water.
and these weapons can be sold to other players correct?
Yes.
Anyone got a picture of the Severed Dagger Skin?
I’ve been leveling almost exclusively through WvW. Obviously you will be at a disadvantage for a while, but as you unlock more and more skills and get better at playing the game, you’ll find that skill and coordination is way more important than exotic lvl 80 gear.
lvl 80 Thief
9/10 Apart from some minor issues, this is the best Themepark MMO since Vanilla WoW.
45-60fps in Lion’s Arch
50-60fps in PvE and sPvP
25-60fps in WvW
Resolution: 1080p Fullscreen
Refresh Rate: 60hz
Frame Limiter: Unlimited
Animations: High
Anti-Aliasing: FXAA
Environment: High
LOD Distance: High
Reflections: All
Textures: High
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: High
Shaders: High
Post-Processing: High
Best Texture Filtering, Depth Blur, High-Res Character Textures and Vertical Sync set to enabled.
specs:
Win7 64-bit SP1
i5 2500k@4.3ghz
8GB Dual-Channel DDR3@800mhz (9-9-9-27)
Asus P8Z68-V Pro
AMD Radeon HD 6970 2GB
7200RPM Raid 0
G35 Headset
750W TX 750
That 560 is slowing it down I think. Can’t expect a budget-midrange card to run new games maxed. Turn off best res/character res, and lower shadows/LOD/reflection down a notch if you have to.
The 560 may not be the fastest card available, but it doesn’t explain the low fps.
Your fps are way too low for that system.
Have you tried running 3dmark 11 (http://www.3dmark.com/3dmark11/) to check if there’s something wrong with your setup?
BTW: Your GPU can’t handle supersampling so make sure the renderer is set to native resolution.
Esrever is right. You don’t need a z77 mainboard if you’re getting a i5-3470. I’d rather buy a i5-3570K and a decent Mainboard with UEFI bios and oc that CPU to 4.3ghz (make sure you get good third party cooler)
Keep in mind that even though the game is heavily CPU bound in WvW, that doesn’t mean that you don’t need a good GPU for the PvE or small scale PvP content.
I don’t think there is much to discuss here. Fact is Vizunah Square has a lot of dedicated PvP players that are active during the night while the other servers do not. This results in unbalanced WvW during the week while it’s balanced during the the weekends.
Anet has already mentioned their stance on WvW imbalance and long queues: Transfer to another server.
When will the European servers be moved to Europe?

Like someone has already mentioned, there are two data centers for GW2. the Americas data center is located in Austin, United States and the EU one is located in Frankfurt, Germany.
Authentication servers are all located in Austin, United States.
For some reason, however, the ping to the EU servers is fluctuating. For example: My ping to the data center in Frankfurt is 30ms but the server ping fluctuates between 40 and 230ms, which is really bad.
I just started guild wars 2, and i did a Charr warrior, but all the gear looks crap, so i was wondering to buy the Primeval armor to my warrior. But i don’t know how this gear works, is it like Heirlooms wich makes you level quicker? Or is it like gear for level 80, and are these items only 1 time use? And can i use it on level 1?
The armor skins are available at level 1 and are purely cosmetic meaning they don’t have any stats. Each piece of armor can be applied once. If you want to keep wearing it, you have to use Transmutation stones in order to upgrade the armor.
When you buy stuff in the gem store you will be asked whether or not you want to save your credit card information for future purchases.
I’m having the same problem. Since the last patch, the game also crashes shortly after the sound glitch.
I don’t think the armor is too expensive. In The Secret World a new armor/clothing set costs you about 12€ that’s almost twice as much. And that’s a subscription based MMO.
Yep. But unlike here , you can actually reuse it.
All you have to do is use transmutation stones once you find a new piece of gear.
I think it makes perfect sense to compare GW2’s pricing to other MMOs.

Uhm I’m dumb maybe but, I just install this, that’s all?:P
All you have to do is run the installer and restart your computer.
I assume all you guys are running a Crossfire setup. If you aren’t you’re not going to see any performance improvement as the CAP updates are for Crossfire setups.
If you need to clean the drivers I suggest doing a full clean with ‘Driver Sweeper’ and then re-installing just the 12.8 WHQL driver.
Please stop spreading false information.
I’m running a HD 6970 2GB and noticed a small but noticeable performance increase.

CAP updates work for all AMD cards, Crossfire or single GPU. (http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33961798)
And yes, the latest profile (12.8 CAP 2) improves performance in GW2.
I am having the same problem (Logitech G35).
