In my earlier MMO experience, I used to have several addons that can tell me combat statistics like how much dmg/heal caused/received etc.
Are there any in game options available in GW2 that can tell me that ?
Also in a related note are there any addons available for GW2 ?
My ranger is level 11.
a) At what level will I be able to tame ..currently I have bear but would love to tame a leopard
b) I heard it is possible to have two pets at the same time. Is this true ?
Just curious…which spell/ability has the highest base damage output across all classes (assuming without talent enhancements/potions etc)
My guardian is a char and he looks pretty awkward in his animation
I would like to know whether I can purchase a wardrobe/costume appearance either in trading post or via gems that can make my toon like a human (or humanoid)
Is this possible ?
I have never played a guardian before.
I would like to know which weapon combinations are best for solo leveling via quests from level 1 ?
I am currently leveling a Thief also (lvl 17).
Most of the mobs dont even last a single Unload (P/P).
P/P is really good for leveling so far but as you can see it gets boring after a while.
I used to love playing DoT classes in other MMOs.
As such I would like to know which classes in GW2 has a strong DoT potential ?
Which professions are the most fun & challenging to from level 1 ?
Ranger has been boring for me as my pet takes care of almost everything for me.
@Turk.5460
I assume you are talking about “Pistol Whip” right ?
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
In the sim it does shows crazy dmg..
Let me check it out
As the question states can someone tell me which ability hits the hardest for low level thieves ? (<lvl 60)
I am a beginner to GW2.
Whenever I level a toon from level 1, I get the following upgrades
a) Minor Sigi of Bloodlust/Force etc
b) Food buff
Lately I have been hearing about how I can get a “rune enchant” also.
Can someone tell me what that is ?
Just curious to know which professions (do mention the weps also) has the highest dps potential while leveling up from 1 to 80.
My warrior currently has rifle (ranged pull + dmg) -> gs (finishing off the mob).
He is doing great (atm..lvl 20) as I keep on visiting auction house every few levels.
I would like to know which other weapons provide higher dps/dmg while leveling.
As a new player to this game, I would like to experience the content from level 1-80 via one character.
I have played almost all the classes like 10 but I am not sure how they pan out at high levels.
Among all classes (except ranger as I dont like that prof) which has the following
a) Should have a ranged pull so that I don’t have to run to the mobs
b) Should not be squishy (thief was a bad experience and even clothies like ele lose lot of HP when mob comes in range)
c) Should have good dmg so that I can down mobs fast
d) Should not need a lot of micromanaging just to play your character when you are intent on solo leveling via quests
e) Since this character is mainly for experiencing GW2 I am not bothered about the end game aspect for this character.
Newbie questions
a) How hard is solo leveling a thief from lvl 1 via quests ?. Any particular weapons i should go for ?
b) Do thieves get permanent stealth in GW2 or is there a specialization or something that gives them permanent stealth ?
In my previous experience with MMOs end game consisted of raiding dungeons, dailies ,events,PVP etc.
a) Do we have similar things in GW2 ?
b) Apart from Ranger which profession is best suited for max level solo play.
With my noob words : “Less Buttons to Push or less need to micro manage resources to do my stuff”
I know all professions are equal but some are more equal than the others
Wouldn’t you say so ?
A quick question from newb.
Among all melee classes which has the following..especially with respect to solo leveling ?
-> Best dmg so that quest mobs are killed faster
-> Best Survivability so that I dont die often
Newbie Question : Which prof is the most sturdy while able to do nice self-healing ?
Just curious to know …of all the professions in GW2 which one shines the best at high levels ?
Aka…it should be horrible in earlier leveling but once you ding past a certain level you just fell in love with it.
thanks guys.
i am currently maining a ranger and I really love his playstyle (pet tank..while i dps)
i am just worried whether gw2 will remove this boost if i dont use it for a long time.
that is the only reason for which i want to use it asap
I am a very new player to this game.
So far I have played around with all classes for sometime (only like level 10 though).
I would like to know which class I should use my boost ?.
I am thinking of choosing Mesmer/Necromancer/Thief for my boost as I believe they are all a lil too squishy (have played them only till like 8 or so).
Do any of these get better at 80 or they stay squishy even at that level ?
WoW has parental controls.
Do we have a similar control available in GW2 ?
I too have the same problem.
It takes around 2-3 min to complete the loading which can easily be mistaken as freezing.
My machine is a brand new machine and can crunch through lot of new games.
Only GW2 has this issue
My main in WoW was a prot pally and I loved playing and leveling that toon.
While going through the professions’ descriptions I find Guardian to be near-comparable to a prot pally.
I will be using a 1 Hander and a Shield (as anything else does not give me that ..“tank”..feel : ) )
I do not care how long it takes me to kill a mob as long as I stay alive.
Also I am in no rush to reach the max cap..just want to enjoy my questing with a 1H/Shield.
How durable is this profession for solo leveling/questing ?.
Which spec in this profession is the most tankiest ?
In your opinion, which classes are fun and interesting… for leveling and exploring the game content and which professions are most boring ?
I am interested in the fun aspect of a profession while leveling to 80 more than the dmg output or how the OP the profession is
Thanks in advance
Unlike WoW which is subscription based, GW2 is pay per game with no sub fees.
And you have already bought the game so why the kitten Arenanet cares if you threaten to quit ??..LOL
Sacrificing utility/survivability and considering all possible combinations of weapons which profession has the highest the DPS potential for
a) Single Target
b) Multi Target
Mesmer imo. Most of its powerful abilities arent unlocked early, and it does low solo damage. Plus you can’t facetank damage.
Thanks Coxy
But after leveling to max level do you have the feeling that everything was worth it ?
If you have played WoW during WOTLK you would know how painful it was to level a pally.
And you get Divine Storm at 60, then everything changes.
Like that will you feel satisfied with your dmg output/utility at max level with Mesmer ?
I am just returning back to the game after like 6-7 months break.
This forum now resembles WoW forum with respect to the number of complaints and stuff.
Whats going on ?
Which professions are challenging to level but feels rewarding once leveled ?
Guys,
I am newcomer to GW2.
While leveling my ranger I equipped a Greatsword on my fledgling ranger (lvl eight) just for kicks and giggles.
Surprisingly I am starting to like the melee aspect of ranger.
I never expected the melee aspect of ranger to be good in downing mobs.
I am loving especially the bear-hug (button 2 skill) which is awesome in animation and in damage.
Just wanted to know whether the melee aspect of ranger is a viable leveling spec all the way to 80.
Thanks for your time.
Can someone give their inputs on these following thief questions for new GW2 player..:)
a)
I have heard that unlike WoW a thief cannot be in stealth mode indefinitely.
Is this true ?
If this is true, can someone tell how long will I be able to stay in stealth mode ?
b)
I am leveling a thief and he is at level 4 ATM.
At what level will I get this stealth ability ?.
c)
Which spec/skills I should dump while leveling to create a playstyle of a thief similar to “Subtlety Rogue” of WoW ?.
For those unfamiliar with WoW, I am looking for skill/build where a thief creeps upon his target, unleashes heavy damage and escapes before he gets into serious trouble.
Because of this very “hit-n-run” nature, this type of rogue is comparatively squishier than others which I am okay with.
Which among the following classes is uber fun for you ?.
Revenant
Warrior
Ranger
Thief
Mesmer
Necromancer
1) Slightly easier for beginners to GW2.
I have been playing with MMORPGs for several years as such I am sure I will pick up the new lingo like conditions/signets etc in the near future but I am now looking for a class which does not expect me to be knowledgeable with all of these GW2 specific terms even for leveling.
2) Should have decent survivability.
Being squishy is fine.
Imho developing your gaming skills a little bit to alleviate your class’s squishiness makes a class uber fun.
But the class should not be pathetically difficult to survive against 2 mobs of same level.
3) Should have nice damage.
As I am a casual whose intent is only exploring the game and solo experiencing the content I really don’t care about being to down a mob 0.5s than the other top #1 class.
But the class should not hit like wet noodle against mobs when leveling.
4) Which is your personal favorite (entirely subjective of course) among the 6 mentioned above ?
Thanks for your time
I am new to this ranger class and GW2 in general.
This class is really exciting and with my little research I have been told that there are more than 50+ builds.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/New-Builds-List-50-builds-All-modes
It is little confusing as I am not familiar with stats/skill points of Ranger.
I am looking for one of these 50+ builds which has the following
a) Heavy Ranged Damage by the Ranger kinda like machine gunning.
b) Pet acting only as tank and holding all the aggro even though I pump insane dmg on the mob
c) Casual or solo PVE as I am not at all interested in PVP or dungeons etc
For those players who have played WoW i am looking for a spec similar to Marksmanship with spammable deterrence on pet to hold aggro.
Appreciate all inputs
Thanks Donari.
Appreciate your response.
Can you also tell me which weapons/build is good for solo leveling a thief ?
I don’t have prior GW2 experience.
I am currently leveling a thief.
Can you guys tell me how long it will take to reach to 80 (only solo playing via quests n stuff) ?
Its not like I wanna rush through the content and I will spending enough time in “smelling the roses” ..just want to get an objective estimate that it will take to level a thief class toon all the way to 80 just playing quests.
PS : Also would appreciate if someone can tell me which build/weapons is good for leveling a thief
I am new to GW2.
I am assuming that Black Lion Trading company is comparable to AH of WoW.
Q1) My black lion trader disappeared (Norn area ..near the lake…where the kids throw snow at you)…Is he on a spawn timer ?
Q2) Is there any way for me to get my purchased AH gear than searching for this black lion dude ?
Q3) I could see numbers in gear in Trading section. Some of the gear have very high numbers like this pistol which can be used at level 1 with values like 1306 etc. But its stat is comparable to same level blue item…Whats up with that ?
Q4) Apart from Sigils I am assuming there is no way to improve your dmg or character..am i right ?..I have about 4000gems which i can convert to gold if needed. Which should i buy first ?…Never been a fan of skin purchasing and cosmetic goodies though
Appreciate all response and thanks in advance
I am also trying dual wielding pistols…they are more fun imo….how pistol/pistol fare with respect to solo leveling ?
Not sure why it is showing as “kitten” when i meant as assassination
a)
I have played kitten and Sub Rogue extensively in WoW.
Can i expect a similar playstyle here with this Thief profession ?
b)
For a beginner what is the relatively easy path to level a thief ?
tx for your time
Didn’t care for Ele or Ranger?
The professions that can use a shield are Warrior, Engineer and Guardian.
Perhaps, Warrior or Guardian will suit you. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply.
Elementalist..I leveled up to 8 and found it to be squishy…
Ranger : Is nice for leveling and I will keep playing it for my “need relaxing” moments
The melee class is for those days when I have a lot of energy and would like to experience raw thrill of mashing up my enemies instead of pewpewing from range and allowing my pet to have all the fun
“Also, if you have HoT, the Chronomancer and Herald. "
I will try warrior and guardian both.
Can you tell me at what level for both of these classes where I can start to feel the uniqueness and/or the power of them ?
Also I do have HoT but I dont see these two choice (Chronomancer or Herald) in the character selection screen ?
Prefering a dental surgery without anesthia than playing WOD, I jumped of the sinking ship of WoW (after playing it for like 9 years) and onboarded into GW2.
Anyways..:)
I am looking for class..oops..prof suggestions
Q1 )
I am looking for a profession with the following characteristics :
a) Melee
b) Kinda like barbarian
c) Dual wielding if possible..if not i would prefer heavy dmg with 2h weapon
d) “In-your-face”,“mash-you-up” factor etc
e) Adrenaline pumping
f) Decent survivability
g) Havin a charge spell (like in wow’s warrior)
h) Need not be plate wearing only…cos I also loved my enh shaman and rogue also before
Q2)
Also I am looking for profession which can wear shields and which is quite decent in survivability
Thanks for your time
Appreciate the response Clumsy..tx
I stay in Sydney and I have chosen Sea of Sorrows server.
Is this a PVP server or PVE server ?
I am not a PVPer as such I would refrain from playing on a pvp realm where other players can kill you wantonly.
I know this sounds like a frivolous question but I am not able to find answer to this
I very recently migrated from WoW and I am looking for a pet class which is friendly with respect to leveling/questing etc.
Can someone tell me which pet is considered super friendly for leveling ?.
I am kinda looking for a pet that keep the mobs away from me while allowing me to stay at range while the pet can keep the mob’s attention.
I really don’t care about my dps or something…just wanna relax and enjoy slowly while absorbing the ambience
PS:
Before someone screams “baddie baddie gtfo out gw2”…don’t you worry i will not join in any LFG or Battlegrounds etc.
Basically I am just a very old player who at the end a super hectic workday wants to spend an hour or so in this game relaxing
I am very new to this game.
TBH my total playtime in this game is about 30-40 mins.
My elementalist level 4 human.
I have been told that staff elementalist has high dmg..but I am not sure when i will be able to get this specialization ?.
Can someone tell me at what level I will get this spec on my elementalist profession ?
I am a newbie to this game and when I purchased I got 4000gems.
In the game I received a mail saying that the 4000gems will be deposited into the account within 72 hours.
Can someone tell me how to use these gems to boost my character with respect to the character’s damage etc ?.
Also do we have any concept of “wow’s heirloom” weapons in GW2 ?
Or Trading post is the only way to get better gear ?
Hi All,
I am brand new to this game.
Would appreciate a lot if someone can help me out with these questions.
I bought 99.99 edition and it came with a lot of goodies + 4000gems.
a) Which class is the best ranged damage class in GW2 with heavy dmg + reasonable surivivability ?.
I am currently at level 4 with elementalist profession (human)
Is my choice correct ?
b) Which class is the best solo class for playing and leveling ?.
I am currently at level 3 with sylvari ranger profession.
Is this prof good solo class ?
Is this prof comparable to hunter of wow (pet taunting/tanking+hunter dpsing) ?
