Haha even horizontal progress is too much for some people.
Level a new character or play a new game if the only reason you log on is to kill sparks for 1 hour.
edit – even before the couple of ascended pieces came out there were people complaining that GW2 was pay to win because you paid to get the best looking gear which is how you “win”.

Why should people who don’t want to group and people who are bad at games (mechanically) be less favored? Most players are pretty bad.
The most shocking memory of mine from WOW is being the first paladin on my server, probably, to figure out how to use the… boons? i guess they were called, to maintain mana on our casters fighting Ony. This was a top tier guild. But the horrifying reality was that most players were just warm bodies. Our top rogue regularly did 2-3x the damage of anyone else. Our top hunter did not sleep (maybe 2 hours a day? because of a medical condition). And every class had 1-2 people like that, but to fill up a 40 member raid required bodies.
Basically the core group completely outclassed the warm bodies as mmo players. Any type of legendary that is based on skill would, should, go to those types of players and that would kitten off 99% of the community that isn’t that.
As it stands right now it is a long climb but you can make constant progress. Except precursors, but I’ve already stated that I’m open to that being changed.
Most of the additional content you don’t need to group up. Some of it you do. Why should solo content be so important that people who like to group shouldn’t get anything?
No. There is no such thing as “skill-based” in an mmo. If it required group coordination then the forums would be flooded by people complaining that they don’t want to group with other people.
If it tested individual skill than the complaints would be about how “this is too hard” and “i’m the best player in the game but I can’t do this!” or some such nonsense. Or there will be a youtube clip that clearly outlines what to do and then everyone will have a legendary, thus defeating the entire point.
All of that being said, I would like the precursor mechanism to change. The Gift of Fortune is an enormous enough time/money sink, as are the lodestones for the weapon specific gift (on some weapons).
With any luck by the end of the month the only people playing engineer are technically minded. That would be ideal. DPS kittens can go play whatever else.
Not with grenades, no.
edit – that person is posting it as if its proof that warriors are significantly better with rifles than engineers are but nothing in that video is indicative of that.
“We want the Warrior to be capable of good melee damage in a sturdy body. They can still do some decent damage at range.”
ANET is so far off in balancing the classes its amazing. There is no way you can justify the nerf when there are classes out there that are astronomically better.
wait, i don’t get it, what was special in that video?
edit – do you want me to track down and kill that dude? i’m pretty sure i’m fighting blackgate atm.
It’s an extremely rare drop.
It’s going to be a pain to update my healing set with the new stats but I am absolutely overjoyed by the new stats.
No healers, no tanks. Don’t ask for stuff that would ruin the game.
LF2M healer and tank for hours and hours and hours and hours, no sorry, no.
Instead : LF3M Fractal 23, Fractal 15, Fractal 11, Fractal 3, Fractal 45.
The dungeon finder system is a separate issue from party composition. I don’t understand how this argument keeps being thrown out as to why the trinity wouldn’t make a difference.
If somebody doesn’t care about anything but maxxing their own DPS that person is probably not a good player. I guess if all you are doing is zerging DE’s that is fine but otherwise…
Maybe there are groups with 5 glass cannons running fractals 20+? I doubt it though.
edit – i say this though i’m currently playing with an engineer at 0/30/0/20/20 with full zerkers armor and full knight accessories, but that’s because i’ve been running 0/0/30/30/10 for a while in full healing armor for dungeons and i wanted to a change of pace for a couple of days.

Using the mystic clover recipe at 10x I’ve gotten 10x lodestones at least twice. Destroyer and Molten, I believe. I’m at 54 clovers now, just waiting for the monthly to keep going. I hope that eventually they put in other uses for Mystic clovers because, quite honestly, it’s been one of the most profitable ventures for me even with the kittenty ancient bones (up to 257… yay i guess).
Well ok, you can be a support elementalist, engi or guardian etc and do a lot of group healing.
But it’s not a dedicated healer, and will not keep alive dps who stand in fire etc.
Engineer will.
You can pump out 1500hp/sec if you try on an engi.
Ok, I’ll bite.
How is this done?
Elixir gun 5, Super Elixir, heals for about 400hp/sec base with no +healing. With Kit Refinement (10 points in tools tree) when you switch to Elixir Gun, you put down a Super Elixir.
The Super Elixir spawned by Kit Refinement stacks with the regular super elixir of the elixir gun. That’s 800hp/sec, again with no +healing.
Combined with the toolbelt skill of the elixir gun – 10 seconds of regeneration, (Which is about 170hp/sec)
That’s 970hp/sec.
Super Elixir scales very well with healing power. I’ve gone to the PVP room, and put on 1400 healing, and been able to heal for around 650+650+300 HP/sec with double elixir + regen.
That’s 1600 health/s for 10s. Now obviously unless you REALLY want to heal, that much healing power is a waste, but I think 1000hp/sec is a pretty kitten respectable number, and you can get that with <200 healing power.
Interesting. Doesn’t sound sustainable though. Maybe I’ll give it a go and see how it works!
That’s actually still short of your full potential.
Between the two ways of dropping the healing field it is possible to keep it up 100% of the time, and as you say at ~600 hp/s with the right gear. You have two tool sets to further increase AOE healing/mitigation which is the elixir gun’s regen field and the AOE mechanics of your chosen healing skill (turret or elixir pot). The regen will be another ~200 hp/s, stacking duration.
If you have a full set of water runes using your healing ability will be another 1000 hp in an aoe.
Then there are healing bombs which hit for another 250 hp an explosion. Then there is the supply drop which also lays down another heal and the associated healing pots.
Then with the bomb kit and a pistol equipped you have 2 blind mechanisms.
Then you have the elixir to get allies back up in a fight.
In a pinch the engineer can provide a lot of mitigation (blindness) in combination with a tremendous amount of burst healing.
As for on the engineer himself, because of how certain skills work you will often find yourself with >1 min of regeneration on you at the end of an extended fight. Using a kit with the right traits you also get another 125 hp/s.
The end effect is that I force a group through almost any content in the game. Even soloing alpha because kit switching isn’t disabled by the crystal so I can keep healing and laying bombs through the disable.
They clearly changed the drop rate of X because today I farmed for Y and the results were Z so there is proof.
The medium TA set is surprisingly pretty once you figure out how the colors work.
But overall, medium armor got the short stick.
That’s a bug.
The way around it is to lure him into the side room (there is a room on the right from the perspective of entering the encounter). You fight him there. He drops the hammer, you run into other room, kill a mob from the side, break the seal, and run back into the side room to continue fight. You will get a few adds but not the unreasonable infinite hell spawn.
Rinse and repeat.
No, seriously, change this boss back or get rid of the encounter.
I don’t care if your group is capable of doing this, this is kittening brutal assholish kitten to put in a game. Change the platforms to stairs or something if you are so in love with this kitten encounter.
I have legit never had any issue pugging anything in this game until this encounter after your last patch.
edit – oh look one of the players on the laser is being spammed with KO aoes, that’s kittening wonderful.

At Anet’s office there are three pillars. On each pillar are six golden rings of varying outer diameter. When Guild Wars 2 launched the rings were arranged at random by NCSOFT. Each day the head developer moves a ring very ten second. When it comes to pass that on each pillar that the golden rings are arranged by size from largest on the bottom to smallest on top of all three pillars, then pears will no longer be account bound.
legit the worst encounter in the game and you made it worse.
(as in boring and tedious)
sPvP automatically gears/levels your character to 80. WvW and general PvE does not. That is why there are two tasks. Nothing to do with pvp vs. pve.
it doesn’t improve your chance of ectos…
Yes it does.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Ecto-Salvage-Stats-Spreadsheet/first
And like everyone has already pointed out, BLKs are a luxury item, you don’t “need” them.
that was <200 salvages. the main difference between mystic and black lion kits was that the black lion kits hit the 3x ectos an extra couple of times.
it doesn’t improve your chance of ectos…
There is no reason to believe that the official GW2 forums are any different from any other game’s forums. Which means that not only are you a minority, but in fact live in a parallel universe in which your only goal is to scream to favor the things you like doing.
Karma and dungeons and wvw tokens can all be used to get max stat gear.
edit – also, a run of fractals gives me 3 ectos mininum. in the last week i’ve collected up to 60 ectos (i know it’s been a week cause my ecto supply outstripped my mystic coin supply significantly from fractals and the tipping was last sunday).

A lot of people are angry that their exploit got fixed.
No. A lot of people are mad that ANet hotfixes and “jumps on” various exploits like these (well some of them) but ignores dungeon bugs that prevent players from completing them cough Explorables/Fractals cough.
If the bug fixing crew had the same strength as the exploit smashing crew these dungeons wouldn’t have these problems.
maybe some people are but most are just upset that their way of making the most money per hour has been trashed. which is understandable, but wrapping yourself up in some fake kitten about how dungeons have never been improved and are always being nerfed is an absurd lie.
A lot of people are angry that their exploit got fixed. You understand that if one method of grinding makes 2x-4x more money than any other that any player that doesn’t participate is being punished, right?
The odd thing is that, at least for me, since fractals came out I have been getting significantly more globs per day than ever before.
Hopefully I will be finishing mystic clover this weekend so that I can start saving 250, but I honestly believe I’ve had in the order of ~100 ectos drop for me in the last week and a half.
edit – try to do level 8 and level 10 every day cause i just want to get my ascended backpack before climbing higher. i’m at 900 relics right now).

Exploiting content counteracts game breaking bugs and time lost to them. Why should I only accept the negative impacts?
As stated above it is a videogame, nothing is ever legendary in it.
If they actually made hard content for legendary gear then all of you would be whining about how hard it is, how you should be able to solo it if given enough time, etc.
edit – oh, i’m sorry, since the majority of forum users are what they are, replace “hard” with “annoying”. it’s so “annoying” to get the timing down on boss fights and to do so repeatedly. It is so “annoying” to have a timed jumping puzzle.

While 100-120g a week is a bit unbelievable it isn’t difficult to make money in this game. If you are losing or breaking even running fractals you are doing something wrong.
Hints:
A. Sell your green and blue items.
B. Sell your salvageable items
Edit – I mean seriously, I keep my ectos, but I get ~3-5 per run of a Fractal. Doing my daily level 10 fractal and my daily reward yesterday took <1.5 hours.
I don’t really mind the failures
BUT
Why are ancient bones so common as a result for me? It is ridiculous how many ancient bones I have gotten. I have 250 of them and <50 of the others.
The forums greatly exaggerate useful and not useful things.
For instance, did you know in sPvP your only stats on your accessories so grenades were doing naturally more damage so they lowered its damage in sPvP to be more inline with the rest of the game? Looking at these forums you sure wouldn’t!
Just want to give a recommendation for this type of build.
Since fractals released I have gone full support to force people through them, but this was a lot fun to run.
It is reset weekly.
Plenty of groups are for 1-3.
You are being dishonest or ignorant.
That player was awful. Nothing to do with MF.
They reset weekly afaik
Holy kitten this is a good dungeon. Oh my god.
Freed the Giant
Beat back the Dredge
and fought through the Ice Blizzard
All bosses had interesting or even escalating mechanics.
Do Not Run These With Idiots
Sanctum of Roll bugged
You mean, do I want to keep repeating over and over when I hit the agony threshold, hoping to get the random ascended gear drops?
To get to the higher levels in order to need the equipment you need to run the dungeon, which will give you that gear. You can’t magically appear in a higher level than you belong unless you run with a party where the majority are above you.
I don’t understand what you are saying.
And is there anyway to choose not to go as far as your progress allows? So if I don’t want to deal with ascended armors and infusion – I’ll progress to the point I can’t go any farther, and then never be able to run the dungeon again unless I get enough unprogressed friends to scale me back?
There are three ascended items coming out this patch. You will get them by running the dungeons. You will get infusions by running the dungeons. By “not wanting to deal wtih” do you mean you will trash all the ascended gear/infusions you get?
If yes, then you want to play with shallower and you will be fine.
By the time you hit the very high difficulty levels of the dungeon you will have the gear available to do it. Those very high levels will drop better infusions to allow higher levels. If there wasn’t the stat increase involved in the gear (just infusions for agony) it would be a perfectly infinite gear grind with no impact on those who choose not to participate. The fractal element means that they can add new content without without major changes. It’s a very pleasing system outside of the stat increase (again, why do that?).
If there were a leader board for who has progressed deepest that would be just fantastic.
The way they will handle “deep” players doing it with “shallow” ones is concerning. However, there are other elements at play. When you go deeper things like potions and foods will become more relevant. Using team builds that rely on teamwork will become more important. This is something you do with a set group of people after a certain point because there will be no pubbing at that time if this is done correctly.
However, there will be a bunch of people still complaining (Even without the stat increase involved) that they can’t go into the deepest levels at level 1 because of a gear gate or whatever. I have no axioms in common with such a player and thereby we can never have a discussion on the matter.
Right now it looks like there will only be rings from the dungeon and a backpack from the MF.
I’m sorry for starting a new thread, but I’m not here to complain or moan but to simply offer a possibility.
The way the preview makes the dungeon look, the three random fractals, the increasing difficulty, it seems that this will be an “infinite grind” type of dungeon. In a good way. In essence as you get better gear you can progress higher in the difficulty of the dungeon. The ascended gear is there to allow you to move up this curve, though at some point that will limit out.
That that makes me think is that the ascended gear will only be better in the context of the fractal dungeon. In essence a lot of people here complained that they wanted a hamster wheel in which you do harder content, get better gear, to do harder content. You can find these posts, it is a player type, so they made a end game mode specifically for those players.
But, that ascendant armor will only be better in the context of that dungeon. The infusions are things that will be released so players can progress further. The “fractal” element means that they can add further events into the dungeon over time.
They are releasing a hamster wheel for people who are quite happy being hamsters, but I really doubt the stats will be better for WvW or other purposes. I personally welcome it as it makes me think it will be a long form Killing Floor type format of escalating gear and skill vs escalating challenges.
Or I could be completely mistaken and this does kitten over doing anything other than it for gear because Anet decided they wanted to remove any desire for anyone to ever do the other Dungeons (for exotic gear that will function appropriately in the greater world), and thus waste thousands of programming hours they put into the existing dungeon and throw away their entire philosophy behind the game.

The hunter does change how grenades look.
Add me.
Grenade Engineer full exotics
I got some good luck Sunday morning and made ~20g in the MF.
I didn’t realize that the Mystic Clover recipe can drop 10 lodestones. I also put some rare crafted weapons into the MF and got back 1 rare exotic. I don’t quite understand the mechanic of the mystic stones yet, but I am starting to believe they serve a higher function.
No, seriously, you shouldn’t have armor breaking from falling to your death. If that is happening that is a bug. Not in the puzzle, not in a dungeon, not anywhere.
edit – I have never had my armor break from falling, anywhere.
