My own theory is this:
Most of the leylines extend out from the Dragons. Rather than assuming that the dragons fells at the ends of these leylines, I believe that when the dragons were first defeated and put to rest, the leylines grew from them. Remember, these creatures feed on magic, they are basically giant batteries. The leylines acted like power cords spreading throughout Tyria. The sentient creatures could detect this power, and built their cities on top of them.

So as well as know the Pact finally decided to show up in Lion’s Arch with one airship. They apparently only came once it was made clear that a dragon was awakened. My question is this: why? The pact knew that the Aetherblades had stolen their ships, and so they should have known something was up. Also why would Trahearne just sit by and let one of the most vital cities in Tyria get destroyed? Is the pact that occupied? Or were they so weakened by their fight with Zhaitan that they could only afford to send one airship?

I mean I knew Canach wanted to finish serving his sentence, but this is just kind of ridiculous….

I wish GW2 posted more lore articles. With their current way of doing the living story, it seems almost impossible that we will see all of these characters in action again, but if they hired someone to expand the lore on them, it would be very interesting.

I like the move by the devs. It makes her a more interesting character, and is a nice representation of a hero with a disability who isn’t bothered by it.

I just love how everyone complaining about how bad rangers are never actually play as rangers. the Ranger class can be good, but due to the devs absolutely screwing the class over, there is no real knowledge about the class.
Samuel Stormwalker
Not to be mean or anything, but they give you five character slots for this specific purpose.

Is it possible to use a transmutation stone on cultural armor to make it account bound?

One thing I feel like is missing from this community is a good sense of humor, so I want to hear everyone’s jokes about this beloved game. Give me your cheesiest, lamest, and most hilarious jokes. I’ll start:
Why do Sylvari Rangers hate having Fern Hounds?
Because their bark is worse than their bite!
Samuel Stormwalker
short answer: nope
longer answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
WvW is the redheaded stepchild of GW2, it receives least love compared to the other two parts, and things like the league went….not as expected in terms of rewards.

The thing is we have no idea when tanks were even developed in the gw2 universe. They seem like a very recent invention, and so the charr could be still working on developing them. As far as we know only the Iron Legion had them, and who were they fighting before? That’s right, the fortress of Ebonhawke. Because of this, it seems only logical that their tanks would be more like artillery pieces. The Pact seems to have only had the tanks for a few months at most, and because they seem to be only a charr invention, the other troops in the Pact probably didn’t know much about them.

A pretty vague topic I know. Are Spirit Rangers good? Like, compared to other builds how good are they generally? I know after the Dec 10 update they are getting a boost, and I am curious as to whether I should start running one. I do mainly wvw and pve. Thanks!

I like the Kodan, but they seem too scattered for any real military alliance and seem stuck to their icebergs. I would rather have a force that can move around than one which is stuck to their home. The Quaggans don’t seem tough enough (I still love them though) overall due to their societal views on fighting. Overall I would have to say the Tengu. They seem smart enough and powerful enough to ally with. My second choice would the the skritt, due to the fact that they seem to not hate the other races as much as others, and when together are an effective force.
Samuel Stormwalker
Because I like the feel of an epic war and being able to have some control over what is going on in the world of the game.

How I feel walking into this thread:

So they know that one of the core mechanics for the Ranger has a flaw, but they don’t want to touch it? At this point I’m not even surprised.

Tougher fights?
I have been on Kaineng when it was tier 8 in order to finish my map completion for my legendary. During the rest of that week that I was on that server my eyes were definitely given a whole new perspective on things.
Lower tier servers can’t even compare to top tier servers in terms of strategy, cooperation, willingness to fight, and just overall obedience.
Sorry, join a server like BG or JQ for a couple weeks than join the last place server. You’ll see how nonchalent the players in lower tiers are.
I think one of the reasons for this is that we just don’t have the manpower. From what I can gather top tier servers have scores of dedicated players, while lower tier ones have much fewer players in them, and so have much less strategic potential.
And I completely understand that.
I am not trying to belittle your server in any way. In fact, I made a lot of friends pretty quick in the short time I was on there. Smaller classrooms = stronger relationships.
Its just the misperceptions like the OP have in terms of coverage > skill is a flat out lie.
Take TC for example, they have little to ZERO overnight coverage, but yet they are tied for 3rd place. Why? Their NA coverage is honestly one of the best, if not the best.
Don’t blame lack of coverage.
I think you are right. The problem is a lot of skilled wvw players left for the top tiered serves once they could before the season started, and so all of the lower tiers lost all of their best wvw players. Lower tiered servers like Kaineng aren’t used to fighting top tiered servers. Just look at the times we made it to T3 or T2, we couldn’t compete with the other servers there because we weren’t experienced enough.

Running supply yaks can be the bane of many a WvW match. Many players don’t want to take the time to guard a yak as it drops supplies off at the various towers and keeps on it’s route. Maybe, if the players were to get a reward for guarding yaks, this would change. Basically what I am saying it, players deserve to be rewarded with exp, coins, or whatever for guarding yaks. It’s an integral part of wvw, and should be recognized as such.

two vs one has been around practically since wvw began. It’s a completely viable tactics that practically every server has used at least once.
Samuel Stormwalker
Well, that giant HoD zerg in EB was certainly fun to play against. I think we retook our keep from them just to have it taken back at least 5 times. Well played

I am voting for BG. I am from Kaineng, so I’ve only fought them once before, but their reputation as one of the toughest servers to fight is in my opinion well earned, and they definitely deserve it.
I think though that any server that continues to fight after other guilds left them (can you tell I’m a tad bit bitter?) deserves congratulations for putting the time in every day. While not the best server, anyone who puts the time in to making the WvW experience fun deserves a thanks.
Samuel Stormwalker
Okay, thank you!
Samuel Stormwalker
So when is this going into effect? Is it at the end of the season?
Samuel Stormwalker
Honestly, it is that big of a deal?
I’m a guy, and it doesn’t bother me at all. Marjory and Kasmeer are two awesome characters, and I want to see more of them. Trahearne is a huge character in the game, and I am glad gw2 is showing more female characters.Oh god you’re here “With my last breath I curse Zoidberg”...now look to signature and realize irony
muahahaha…
Samuel Stormwalker
2 weeks, but more like Flame and Frost where they are closely linked.
Samuel Stormwalker
This topic is simple. I think that the developers should keep the two around. Marjory is a character that a lot of players have responded to positively, and we have been growing to like Kasmeer. Thoughts? Do people agree/disagree/not care?

The fall of Abaddon from Godhood is not in Guild Wars 1. It predates GW1 prophecies by 1000 years, in fact 1079 years.
Then petition for a full-fledged dungeon about it, instead of a 10-minute Fractal that you MIGHT get on a run.
GnashbladeAbaddon supporters seem to be hardcore GW1 fans that are just chomping at the bit for any piece of lore from their “hayday.”How are you going to do a full fledged dungeon that took place 1300 years ago? The fractals makes sense because fractals ARE time travel, you’re reexperiencing events in history, such as the Searing.
The Fractals actually are NOT time travel, they are instances that appear in the Mists. Some are inspired by historical events, but Devs have confirmed that they are not the actual events.

To elaborate on my earlier point about DR, in one of the personal story quests we find out that there are tunnels in the Seraph headquarter dungeons, and they presumably lead outside. If those tunnels are there then there would have to be ones in the throne room for the Queen’s safety. The Shining Blade as bodyguards for the Queen could more than buy enough time for her to slip out through a tunnel.
Samuel Stormwalker
Simply because they couldn’t pull it off. Maybe they could get the Grove, but there is no telling what special magic the Pale Tree has up it’s sleeve in case of an invasion. If Hoelbrak was taken, the Norn would just turn to guerrilla fighting, which is how they beat the Charr. With the Charr, they are way too militaristic for any invasion to work. I mean in your home instance there you can see 3-4 TANKS just waiting. With Divinity’s Reach while the gate is close to the throne room, it is still guarded by the Shining Blade, who would definitely have a plan in place in case something happened. As someone said above Lion’s Arch is also very well armed.
Samuel Stormwalker
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if people knew what the armor was for the Shining Blade and for the Ebon Vanguard/Fallen Angels (heavy). I’m trying to do some RP with my character and this info would be very helpful. Thanks!
Samuel Stormwalker
So I was in Maiden’s Whisper recently and Willow now has dialogue about going to Lion’s Arch. I was wondering if this has anything to do with all of the recent updates, and what it means lore wise.
Samuel Stormwalker
The problem I have found with us is that we have bursts of movement where we can take back most of the map…and then we all have to leave for work/sleep/class and it all gets taken back. So far though I am happy with this match-up, Maguuma and Yaks are worthy opponents of us!
Samuel Stormwalker
What kind of build are you going for?
Samuel Stormwalker
There is no way they would be completely removed. They are such a huge part of the game play, and they are practically everywhere. It would also completely take away from Orr, unless we got some new big baddie to come in.
Samuel Stormwalker
Definitely, I know there are already some Dynamic Events for the Orders that are open to everyone, but those tend to get old after playing through them a few times.
Samuel Stormwalker
It’s because the Norn have no real army. The Wolfborn are the police/army, and they already have to deal with the Sons of Svanir and defending Hoelbrak.
Samuel Stormwalker
The main reason is that nothing really happens with him. He is very mary sue-ish in that he becomes leader and then everything goes perfectly (well, mostly perfectly). It seemed like the game ended once we completed his wyld hunt, killing Zhaitan just seemed like the epilogue to me. Basically once we finished our Order storyline it felt like we transitioned from our personal story, to being in Trahearne’s personal story.
Samuel Stormwalker
So one problem I have in the game resolves around the Orders we all join at some point. Once you complete the main mission you don’t really do much with them…at all. I mean you can earn the Order weapons and armor, but that’s about it. Because of this I would like to propose a way to fix this:
Missions given out from your Orders.
They could be similar to the Guild Bounty mission currently out, but customized for your order.
Thoughts? Am I crazy? Or is this something that should happen?
Samuel Stormwalker
I will say this, BG has been doing a very good job at pushing us off of their borderlands…
Samuel Stormwalker
The Order of Whispers have a giant floating globe thing in their headquarters that shows all of Tyria, if this helps.
