It would be easier if you submit a support ticket that way I can get a bit more information from you. As it stands, this could be caused from a number of different things and I think we could assist you much more quickly and efficiently if we can assist you one on one rather than on someone else’s thread.
Also, if you could provide us with a Game Advisor report as well as the exact error messages you’re seeing, this would help as well. There should be a sticky that details how to run Game Advisor and contact our support team.
Thanks!
You’ll want to make sure you put a space between the target line and the argument. So it should be this:
“C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset
And not this:
“C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”-prefreset
Hope this helps!

Hi Varitok,
First, if you are experiencing crashes that are prompting you to send a report to ArenaNet:
1. Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.
2. Paste in the following line: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
3. Click “Ok.”
4. Locate the “Arenanet.log” (If present) and attach it to the thread for review.
Hey all,
First, please check to make sure all TCP ports necessary to play Guild Wars 2 (80, 443, 6112 and port 6600) are fully open both inbound and outbound.
Next, please check to ensure you don’t have the following applications running on your system as they are technically Spyware and known to throw this error: Relevant Knowledge and Premier Opinion.
Should this not resolve the issue for you, the instructions below will change the way Guild Wars 2 connects on your network. In short, this will force all inbound and outbound data to use port 80. Since port 80 is a very common port, it usually has the least amount of issues with transmission of data. To do this:
1. Locate the file “GW2.exe” and right-click it, selecting “Create Shortcut.”
2. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Port Test.”
3. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
4. Edit the “Target” line to include /clientport 80 at the end. Note: Please make sure /clientport 80 is outside of the quotes.
— Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” /clientport 80
— Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe /clientport 80”
5. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes. If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try Step 4 again.
6. Double click “Guild Wars 2 Port Test” and try connecting again.
Still not able to connect? Please submit a support ticket!
Regarding grandmaster traits Harmonious Mantras and Empowering Mantras being swapped – this is intended. Apologies for the missing release note.
Confirmed this change with Karl – the swap is intended. Our sincere apologies for the missing release note.
Hey there,
I would like you to try a command line argument we have seen resolve this type of issue.
Please go to your shortcut for Guild Wars 2 and right click it and choose properties.
In the line that says Target, add a space at the end of whats there and then -prefreset
It should look something like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -prefreset
Click apply and then ok.
Once the above is done, try launching the game and logging into the character you are having issues with. If this resolves the issue, go back into your shortcut again and remove the -prefreset line.
Should this not resolve the issue for you, please submit a support ticket so we can further assist you.
Plz help Connection Error(s) Detected.

Hi Lipzz,
Can you tell me the name of the file you’re launching Guild Wars 2 from? Is it Gw2.exe?
A thread was already created for this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/List-of-Mega-Server-Maps/ Please post in this thread. Thank you.
Closing thread as a duplicate.
Hi RageQuit,
You will probably find a faster response from the playerbase in the Mac Beta forums, but I would like for you to delete the Guild Wars 2 folder located within your Users library folder. You can do this by following the instructions below:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the Finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the Finder menu bar. A dropdown will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” dropdown.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will create a new version of the folder that you deleted.
Please launch Guild Wars 2 and see if you are able to log in and play without issues.
Thanks to Lishtenbird for the link. Since a thread already exists, we’ll close this one.
Evan Lesh cleared this up on the PvP forums:
There is a reward track progression cap in custom arenas, but none in solo or team arena. Unfortunately this isn’t clearly messaged. We’re discussing ways to resolve the confusion.

Sadly, that information is not in the Knowledge Base. It only refers to Toys. Perhaps, it could be updated, and save a lot of distress. =)
Although, it is clearly stated in the Patch Notes. =)
Well, there ya go! I didn’t know that. Hmmmm… I hope we will be able to expand the KB article to include more detailed information. I’ll send an e-mail about that now and see what we can do! (Thanks for pointing that out, Ic.)

Out of curiosity – are you still getting gold for completing matches?
Thanks, Brother Grimm. It’s important to keep in mind that if you get an e-mail from us — or allegedly from us — we’re happy to answer questions about it. Remember, too, that aside from contact initiated by you (like authentication authorization, e-mail change, etc.) we will not ask you to click a link to “verify your account” or “check your status” or do any of the other things that would-be phishers want you to do to gain access to your account.
I got an e-mail today from a social media site. They said they were not affected by the Heartbleed bug, but that they wanted me to change my password anyway by clicking the live link they provided. There is no way in The Underworld I am going to click their link, even if they foolishly did send me that e-mail. I will go to their site and change my password on my own, NOT through a provided link that may or may not have come from that site.
And that’s what Guild Wars 2 players should do. If you need any assistance, you generate a ticket for us to respond to, and we will help you, based on that contact. That way you’re not getting weird, maybe-nefarious “Hey, here’s how to secure your account” mails with live links that lead to Grenth-knows-where!

We know that the huge, mega-big, amazing April 15th Build has raised a few questions here and there. Just to point out, our Knowledge Base articles may answer this sort of question. Just click Support above and put in a few key words to get to those articles.

It is correct that with time your account will recognize the IPs and not require authorization. But really, I’d rather authorize every single time than run the risk that someone is getting access who should not — and I seem to be required to do that “every single time” authorization, actually
-- so I’m looking on the bright side about authentication!

I agree that a check would be good before the order is processed. (I guess I wasn’t aware that you could process more than your account can accommodate!) Can you make that suggestion in the Black Lion Trading Post forum? That will be more likely to catch the eye of a dev.
Thanks.

Yes, that is the case, Ic, but even more importantly, you cannot log in using a display name. The info you provided is helpful, but the critical thing is the name issue, which I am pursuing yet again to try to address on our side with an interface change.

I’m sorry you’re unhappy, but Lilith’s response is correct. The crystals are charges and you can use the charges for the precise reason that you made the initial purchase. You’re welcome to continue to discuss within your support ticket, but I do understand why you received the response that you received and the forums is not the place to debate decisions of this nature. A debate seems to case here because you’ve not even included the ticket number in your post but simply outlined your position against the decision that was rendered in your case.
I do want to assure you that our CS Agents read your requests with care, not simply the first sentence. Humans can make errors, but I don’t see that as being the case here. However, as I said, you can discuss in your ticket.
Thanks for understanding.

Ah, I think I see the issue. Your account name is your e-mail address and not your Display Name, which I see placed in that form. I believe if you just input your e-mail address, things will progress just fine.

Are you playing in custom arenas, ArenaNet hotjoin servers, or tournaments?
Good morning mesmers,
Going to touch on a few items that are still being reported as issues post 4/15.
- Portal: This utility was given a skill-fact for range (5000). I personally like the suggestion of mini-map markers, and I’ll bring it up with the team, but I don’t think that was ever planned for this release. Sorry for the confusion.
- Illusionary Elasticity: I’ll have this looked at again.
- Illusionary Warden: We made some changes for Illusionary Warden for 4/15. Can you guys elaborate on how its behaving now?
- Illusionary Counter issues with MS/IC: These issues are still open in our tracker and did not make it into this release.
That’s all for now. Feel free to respond with any additional issues you guys discover post-patch.
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I’ve merged multiple threads about daily achievements not being available and dungeon/fractal/WvW/World Boss chests not spawning. We’re aware a bug of the Achievement system that is the root cause of these issues. We don’t know when exactly it’ll be fixed but are working kitten a fix.
Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks DanyK, I’m glad you are enjoying it!
Try it now. Only until Wed 23:59 PST
If you really don’t want the tonic, check the trading post prices before deleting them.
Quaggan hat, if you have the skin item you should not need a transmute for it . You will see 0 cost for the first apply to a helm. then it will function as a head item for the armor slot with all the same equip and unequip rules as helms.
Quaggan hat should absolutely still be dyable.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that prevented some players from using chat.
- Fixed a crash when interacting with the hint UI panel.
- Fixed a bug that would complete Guild upgrades prematurely.
You get 1 outfit unlock for each peice of the old set.. (just in case folks didn’t keep the whole set). Once the outfit is unlocked on your account the rest of the copies in inventory can be discarded as they don’t have further use.
(except maybe they allow you to quick-equip? I didn’t try that)
Translation vent until you eventually realise it is futile and cough up them gems
Hah. You need better translation software.

I thought everything could be done in PVP according to Devs in Ready Up? Why do we need to go to PVE? Why do we need to level up for cosmetics when PVP is completely seperate?
This is a migration issue, not a regular thing.
Ok, what about the levels? If I make a new character I am not going to level him up for hours just to put on a kittening shoulder piece.
Just play PvP on any custom arena that rewards progression, or play solo/team arena. It will happen without you doing anything different except double clicking your rewards.

Thanks for the well-composed feedback and civil conversation everyone. The effectiveness of stolen items is something we’ve talked about internally as well. With the lower recharge on Steal, we’re monitoring the effectiveness of a few of these abilities and continuing to collect your thoughts on the topic.
Cheers,
-Karl
Their should be one in every major city. I believe there is also one at Vigil Keep near Evon Gnashblade.

And what of all those character slots we purchased for the sole intention of pvp’ing? Multiple characters of the same profession that we need to unlock traits and level?
I can’t really add anything more to what has already been said, but feel free to continue posting feedback in one of the threads regarding character-bound unlocks. We are listening.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
Thats true, I didn’t think about that, but that now means I have to spend a lot of bank space or character space holding different item skins if I’m someone who likes to swap skins when I feel like it.
I liked having the huge storage I could put everything I had and could swap with whenever I wanted.
If the game had free skin changes like DCUO or LOTRO this wouldn’t be an issue, but why should we have to pay for it?
I can’t speak for that design decision, it goes beyond just the PvP team and also involves the economy folks. I do believe there are a lot of very good arguments for it, but honestly I’m ignorant and haven’t been following the internal discussion.
I will say that we made sure that you are able to receive transmutation charges from playing PvP alone because we know there are players that like to switch often, myself included.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
Justin, how about weapon swap? That unlocks at level 7 correct? I had a guild member who only does sPvP (level 2), but can’t buy shoulders or swap weapons.
Let me find out.
Talked to the gameplay peopleguys, they said it works, you just need to equip the second set. You should ask them try equipping the second set from the PvP build UI.

Hi All,
We realized late in our release cycle that today’s wardrobe changes broke the “name” field for some of the items coming back from /item_details.json. I am working on a fix for this which should be out soon in a subsequent hotfix. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Which I assume is also why PVPers aren’t allowed to freely change their skins now without having to get charges now.
You apply skins to weapons and armor, after you apply it you can still keep them in your inventory and swap them for free.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
How about the missing armor sets? Without a list available to me from old version How am I to know all the armor sets now missing? Thanks for stealing from me.
:edit
They were gem bought sets.
You can see your entire skin collection from the bank, it’s a new tab. You should check out this thread for better answers and discussion.

Could you at least tell us WHY you did this change? It seems so pointless.
