Can you explain the reasoning why we have to level up now to get our old ‘looks’ back?

This is the way it is in PvE and WvW, we just brought PvP in line with the rest of the game.
You can level through PvP only. You will receive tomes of knowledge from reward tracks, along with other rewards.

I don’t follow what you mean. You will only be missing some cosmetic only gear, this should not be a barrier to entry in any way.

Progression must be enabled for the custom arenas, but solo arena and team arena should always reward progress. Team arena rewards the most progress, followed by solo arena, and then by custom arenas. You receive more progress for a win than a loss.

Have you visited the Black Lion armorer? I believe that is how some things are being converted. Also, you may need to log into other characters if the items were equipped.
level 11~ pve required now to pvp ( no shouldpads exist below level 11~)

We can’t please everyone.
10 characters means I cannot outfit them all, yet I was pvp’ing for nearly 2 years.
We’ve made sure transmutation charges are awarded early and often as part of reward tracks. While you’re right you can’t outfit them all right away, you should be able to in very short order.

May be related to the surge in concurrency.

Unfortunately, there’s a bug where if the Shadow Behemoth is defeated while the portals are active, they will get stuck on the next iteration. We are working on a fix.

I want to give Blu and the guys from Mistpedia a huge thank you for organizing and hosting this tournament. I also want to give a big thank you to all the members of the community who stepped up to volunteer to help out. This tournament was able to expand from 16 to 64 teams per region due to the efforts of Mistpedia and these volunteers. Helping each other out to make events like this even bigger is what community is all about.
As much as we all wanted to accommodate all of the teams that signed up, the logistics of handling a 128 team tournament, when we originally planned for 16, would be too much to execute within such a limited timeframe. We will be working to make sure future events are able to take into account sign-ups of this magnitude.

We have identified and resolved the certificate issue that was preventing the Black Lion Trading Company from loading in the Mac Beta client. The certificate was reissued by our data asset manager as part of the Heartbleed bug prevention. ArenaNet, LLC was not infected by Heartbleed and your information remains secure.
For some players, the BLTC is still not performing consistently.. While we are tracking on this issue, unfortunately we are not able to provide a timeframe for when it will be resolved.
We have made this patch to GW2 Mac Live and have removed the workaround previously mentioned.
Speak to Black Lion Armor Trader in any of the home cities to have clothes you were wearing (or in inventory) converted to wardrobe.
We’re aware of the issues; we’ve been trying to post, too. They’re working on getting it sorted properly.
To be clear, Guild Wars 2 does support surround, if you have speakers and hardware to support it, like what nuggant has.
The problem StinVec is referring to is if you set the game to Surround but only have 2 speakers, you will lose sounds since it’s trying to route the audio to speakers that don’t exist.

If you submitted a ticket early you’re fine. If we sent a reply along the lines of “write us back on the 15th” just reply again and it will wake your ticket up (unless it closed and/or you sent feedback). If we did not send that reply you’re all set.
All duplicates of the named dyes will be replaced. So, if you have 4 toons with Blacklight (for example) you will get 3 Blacklight sent to you automatically.
For refunds “In game issue ? Trading Post/Gem Store” is correct. If you put it in another category we’ll get to it and it shouldn’t add much time to your wait. Please do not submit multiple tickets as it will slow us down and you will not get help faster. Duplicate tickets are simply closed.

I once had this issue, but if you create a shortcut of gw2.exe and add -/clientport 80 after the “…” to the destination, then you should be able to login. it should look like this: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -/clientport 80

This happened to me and I just want to quickly high jack this thread to commend ANet on how quickly it was sorted.
I bought 800 gems accidentally twice and emailed their support team immediately. Within 2 hours the extra 800 gems were withdrawn from my account and I was refunded.
Thanks for posting that, JayMack. I know it helps other players to know that these issues are dealt with as swiftly as possible!

I do not foresee that we will set up a system for display name changes for the very reasons suggested above: Having a display name that remains constant (save those that present a security issue or breach the Naming Policy) is a way for players to not “dodge their own reputations” after bad behavior. For instance, we don’t allow “naming and shaming” on the forums for people who scam other players, but there are ways that players let others know what happened. If BadScammer.1234 gets to change to NicePlayer.9876, his or her reputation can essentially be wiped clean, and that’s not good for players watching out for particular issues or specific individuals within the game.
Display Name changes may come along — I cannot answer definitively — but I can state that if they ever are offered, they will be restricted and handled with care.
TL;dr: There’s a reason that there is “red tape” and for the vast majority of requests, and that red tape prevents a nefarious individual from doing a “reputation reset” and reduces the calls on Customer Support so that they can focus on genuine issues.
