season 3 reapers has been nerfed and is much more balanced now than season 2 reapers.

also, if you focus the reaper in team fights they will go down rather quickly.

I play a MM reaper as an alt in PvP and while they have a ton of tricks, they die in seconds if you focus fire. On my team, we always target the reaper first and then the fight is really easy. Also, if you have an Ele, they can pretty much ignore all our condition skills.

@ OP:

Do you have a suggestion on an armor combination without the trailblazer stats for ascended? I simply don’t have the ability to craft them at this point. I assume dire stats might work?

Same with me. I’ve failed on my last 3/4 times to even maintain a connection.

Just wondering, is anyone else having problems with random crashes in PvP or failing to even connect to the game? I logged into PvP a bit ago and it seams that many folks were getting multiple connection errors or the game would simply lock up on them. This has been happening to me since last night.

So I started playing a minion master a few days ago and absolutely love it! My build is somewhat different than most as I try to focus more on team support and survival and thus far, it’s been working rather well in ruby. For weapons, I was running the dagger/WH but lately, I’ve been thinking of changing to the hybrid build below.

Basically, this is a concept that I’m not sure will work all that well but it looks like it may balance well enough. My hope was to dish out more damage instead of just being able to survive forever.

Can you all take a look a this and tell me what you think?

So I’ve been playing a minion master in PvP and it’s crazy fun to see how confused people get when trying to kill you. They are just so nasty! Anyways, I was wondering if they are viable in WvW and if so, can you all post a link?

I currently have a full set of zerker ascended armor saved up and ready to go but before I invest in the character, I wanted to check and see what you all thought.

Ugh… Just played the class in several modifications and it pretty much sucks. So sad because I loved my old D/D ele back in the day. Now she’ll just go where old characters go prior to the xpack – the shelf.

This will sound kinda sad but I’m working on picking up my 3rd class that I can use in PvP in order to, yes, get the achievements. I do very well on my Warrior and Druid but was thinking of picking up an Ele to mess around with as well. Back before I left the game, I played my D/D Ele all the time in PvP and found it to be a nice little class for not only helping the team as a whole, but also decent enough to go 1v1 against most people.

Since coming back, I almost never see a D/D Ele anymore at my current level (ruby). Are they still decent PvP or is the D/F pretty much the way to go these days? Also, I’ve read through the meta site and to be frank, I typically use it as a guide for ideas. I don’t run meta builds most of the time as, let’s face it, they are predictable.

Anyways, below is a build I was playing around with for PvP and was wondering, do you all think this is something that would work or is just not worth the time:

D/D Tempest

Even with the new(ish) tempest trait line? D/D was always so much fun to play. I’d be sad if it wasn’t viable anymore.

That was the one! I actually finally just killed the chak to get the enzymes like you suggested. Talk about frustrating though.

Perhaps I’m just not all that smart but I’m pretty close to finishing the personal story and I’ve had so much trouble trying to find the starting points for each section that I’m just about at the point of quitting the story all together. I basically come up on an area where I’m told to go and the location is x feet above where I’m at with no way that I can find on how to get there. I spent a few hours last night and this morning just trying to complete this one quest where you have to go open up the way to the hidden Asura city.

Thus far, this expansion has been more frustrating than fun to play and a dramatic difference to how things were in the last part of the story.

Being able to fly around is fun but Anet needs to put out some detailed directions on how to actually find your way around.

Folks, I’ve not done much with the HoT story until last night and started having some trouble with my typical GS/Rifle zerker build. I forgot how mobs here can actually do damage.

Just wondering, what is a good PvE build I can be using to make questing in this area easier? I switched over to my power druid and it’s almost a joke it’s so easy. /sigh.

Yeah, well there are plenty of options for you and very little for players who don’t want their female characters to have revealing armor…

That is simply not true. There are several female armors that show no skin at all, not even the face, and more that show only the face.

This is the case for my female warrior – her armor is very modest. Of course, I think that’s pretty easy with heavy and medium armors. Probably not so much for light.

Or use it to invest in a deep-fryer and have an Asura cook out?

That’s probably going too far though I suppose. Poor little rat-goblins…

Are you planning to stick with the condi build or would you consider a LB/GS power build? I use a power build for my druid and quite frankly, PvE is kind of a joke with how easy it is and the amount of damage my druid is able to dish out.

I’m not sure if this is much help but I play a survival/condi build on my Warrior in WvW and (most of the time) in PvP as well. For weapons, I run sword/torch and mace/shield. While my mobility is somewhat limited with only have that 1 leap, overall I find the build of this Warrior to be VERY effective in most 1v1 and 1vX situations.

Basically, I’m able to have so much sustaining condi DPS combined with my regen that most classes can’t survive long after they get through my initial bomb due to the constant pressure. Also, I often run a + health regen food so combined with the adrenal and the normal healing signet, I’m constantly healing a large portion of the damage they try to do to me.

I wouldn’t think the build/play style is for everyone but I really enjoy it and find it just funny when players panic. Oh, and as for ele’s, well, with all those condi’s plus about 10 or more stacks of confusion, they pretty much just explode themselves.

A perspective from a returning player – for what it’s worth:

I left GW2 right after Black Desert Online (BDO) beta was released and never looked back. BDO was the “new” MMO with amazing graphics, a real combat system, extensive character creation, etc, etc.

In truth, the game’s positives are overshadowed by the ever-persistent negatives of no real end game, and endless grinding.

GW2, while has problems, is so much better than most other games out there because there really is a TON to do. As a PvP player, I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent on theory-crafting some new build idea for my character. None of this can be done in other MMOs to the extent you can in GW2.

The grass is always greener on the other side until you get there and quickly notice, there isn’t any grass.

I saw a report that your chances of such a winning streak are about equal to winning the PowerBall lottery. Padre, I suggest you go buy a lottery ticket today…

I actually play a warrior as my main character and while I’ll change between a zerker GS/Rifle build and my hybrid condi, I don’t have too much trouble. I will say that w/o the weapon swap trait, I’m dead.

The hybrid condi version I play is a bit more forgiving of mistakes and does well against 2v1 but it’s also not the most exciting build to play.

I don’t suppose anyone has made a character to look like Commander Shepard from Mass Effect have they? I just can’t get the armor to look right.

Anyways, loved the guide you made and how you explained your build and play style. I quite playing my ranger alt long time ago as the hate is strong in PvP against them. Perhaps this will change things again!

Just wondering on your thoughts – for ascended items, will it make a significant problem for me if 2 of my armor pieces are valkyire instead of zerker? If so, should I just get some exotic zerker items for now?

I would suggest Shattering Blow over Outrage any day, unless you’re running RR (which you’re not).
Also, I switched from LB | S+T to M+Sh | S + T and I’m having much more fun. But since you’re used to running LB from before and you’re enjoying Furajir’s build, I won’t go into it.

Your post got me thinking a bit and reminded me of a hybrid build I used to play that ran perplexity runes. This, and after watching a LB ranger eat a warrior alive, I thought about giving this a try. Perhaps I’m wrong but in the last dawn I’ve been playing this, the LB just appears way too slow and predictable. It’s good for group PvP but otherwise, I find it lacking.

Could you link the build you’re using for the Sword/Torch + Mace/Shield?

Both. Most builds from the core class are obsolete to the specializations. And also the build is dead since the removal of celestial.

After just coming back to the game this week, I noticed that I almost never see my favorite D/D ele anymore in ranked PvP. Is this build just dead these days or is PvP so based upon what the META is that there isn’t a place from them anymore?

I just came back to the game this week and am trying to find a fun alt to play for PvP. While I love my warrior, I’ve heard the corruptionmancer is very effective and something that most teams want. However, I haven’t played the class all that much and was hoping to find a guide that explains the build and skill combo’s.

Do you all know of a decent guide out there that can walk me through the basics of this build for PvP purposes?

For sure man, mostly just rotating your fields, I mostly play power. Theres about 10 diff ways to setup combos with that build.

1) Flames of War on Torch 5, Savage leap
2) Combo field for LB/might stacking and huge burst is F1 and LB 3

Pretty much rinse and repeat, LB will be your major condi cleansing tool since the primal bursts always lands. Between might stacking, corruption sigil etc, youre looking at well over 2.1k condi dmg here. The damage potential is there.

Ok, so I modified that build just slightly with some gear and used it for WvW and PvP. Pretty darn amazing!

After just coming back to the game, I’m trying to remember some of the builds I used to use in WvW other than my traditional zerker GS – A/S build. One of them was this S/S – LB condi build that had pretty decent mobility and good sustain. I also used something similar with a S/WH – LB but I honestly don’t remember too well. Right now I have a crap-ton of ascended items in the bank so it would be easy to build either way.

Below is “kinda” what I was using back in the day and was wondering, can you all give me your thoughts or suggestions on a good mobility/condi build? Zerker is fun but I also like playing something that people won’t expect.

I’m currently on a WvW centric EU server and was wondering, with the mega-server concept that GW2 has now, do is really matter what US server I transfer too? Thanks for the reply! I’ll go check that build out. I also used to use a sigil on my weapons that every time I did a swap, it caused blindness. It just really ticked off melee classes.

I just returned to the game after being gone since right before HoT came out and was hoping one of you might be able to help me recreate the build I was using in WvW. This was a hybrid build that used the GS + Scepter/Torch but I can’t remember if I had PU or not. Also, I used all zerker armor and condi trinkets. The idea was that I had just enough toughness and condition damage to really mess with people while the raw zerker damage would finish them off. I used this build for ages and loved it because almost nobody else expected it.

Any suggestions about what it might have been?
