You will have to create a new character.
Good luck.
Ugh, that completely sucks!
Is there a way to change race? I was looking at the make over kits on BLTP but it seems none of them list being able to change race.
Is it possible or do I have to completely reroll?
So I probably only have a solid month of play time on HoT expansion and I’m just starting to get back into the groove of things. My main focus has always been WvW, but I haven’t yet found a group to run with, and I’ve been doing a lot of PvE trying to catch up on gearing.
Currently, I’m running a power build for PvE. However, I’m getting into the higher level fractals and I’m looking to start raiding (still doing open world stuff on the side) and I can’t help but feel like my DPS is in the toilet.
I’m running the chillromancer for WvW when I do play and I can’t help but feel completely useless lol
So my question is, am I doing this wrong? prehot I always ran power pve and condi wvw builds. Seems like it might have swap itself around now?
Appreciate it! Specs now listed
Hah, crap! I need bloodstone for backpack
_It’s all a matter of perspective… objectively I agree with that listing. However, I run Bloodstone Fen most frequently by far of all (for currency, unbound magic and even for wood and mithril farming). Simply because I enjoy it the most. I love the design and the gliding puzzles.
You will also have noticed that you will have to do Ember Bay AND Bitterfrost Frontier for your accessories, since you need two different accessories slotted (with the same prefix). These two maps are so far the only ones giving “Ear Ring” items. For Backitems, Amulet and Rings you have several choices.
Crap! I forgot ascended were unique pieces. I was just farming the one area thinking I could get them all from the same place _
Okay, because that transluscent bar at the bottom looks about the size of the Windows Taskbar. Are you playing Windowed Fullscreen?
Full screen, not windowed.
It’s about twice the size of the start bar.
Kind of yes. Within the lower 1/2" of the screen. Looking at the screen shot I took wasn’t the best. It’s usually worse I’ll upload another.
Bitterfrost is the fastest. I typically did all maps at once when I was getting my sets. Avoid Bloodstone Fen as that will be the longest.
Fastest to slowest:
Bitterfrost
Draconis Mons
Ember Bay
Lake Doric
Bloodstone Fen

If you have Windows 10 Creator’s Update, (That installed automatically for me last night ;;), and use Afterburner, make sure you update these programs, both Afterburner and Rivatuner, or every game is going to crash with it.
Rivatuner in particular needs version 7 http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/rtss-rivatuner-statistics-server-download.html As it is in beta, it doesn’t get found when checking for updates.
I’m still on afterburner 4.3, doesn’t show there a newer version yet.
Is this just for Rivatuner? I don’t use it…
I’m trying to acquire a full set of trailblazer’s trinkets for WvW (back, amulet, rings, accessories)
Which map currency is the fastest to farm?
Currently been in Draconis mons all week only have 43 fire blossoms, at this rate it’ll be faster to just to the PvP reward track for an easy 50~ a day.
I’m getting this weird artifacting on the bottom of my screen near the mini map and skill bar on the new draconis mons map.
It doesn’t happen on any other map or any other game.
Anyone know what the issue might be?

This was my first video on my favorite power tank build.

My next videos are all same build but diferent runesets for fun
Appreciate the reply, but I’m using Condi gear.
I like how you have converted all your gear to trailblazers (which is what, 30g per insignia?) and then asks for a build, lol.
Power reaper is obsolete in WvW until they change deathly chill from PvE->sPvP balance. There are metas available on metabattle.
If I recall my own build correctly (which isnt quite meta), I run viper+dire/rabid, 1/2/2 (reaper), 2/1/1 (curses), 2/2/3 (soulreaping). Staff is a given weapon, dagger/focus as secondary (immobilize are killers). Skills vary (CC as heal because conditions are being thrown out like candy today, usually a couple shouts when roaming).
Its not a tank but I find it tanky enough. Trailblazers is just so much expensive cheese.
Well I’ve always played condi in WvW, so I figured Trailblazers was just a given.
I’ve checked metabattle. For whatever reason, the builds just don’t seem to click with me. Chillromancer looks like it may work out, but I’m wondering if there is a way to make it more sustainable.
(edited by Aeniklast.9283)
do you have hot?
Yes
Hey all,
Just now jumping back into WvW since pre-hot expansion.
Previously I ran a condi / terror build with dire armor and rabid weapons + trinkets.
Terror was nerfed into the ground so I’ve converted all my gear over to trailblazers, since it seems to be the new go to.
I’m looking for a build with massive survivability.
Mostly solo / roaming. I do however, like to jump on the zerg train now and again.
Hello all,
Just installed a new SSD.
Before installation I copied the GW2 folder onto my HDD storage drives.
I can’t remember where the folder was located originally, does it matter where I place the folder? If so, where is the best place lol
Trying to avoid downloaded entire client agian…
Good evening all!
I’m going to be building a new rig this week and I’m having trouble deciding on if I want to build a 1080p or 1440p setup.
Is gw2 optimized for 1440? I’ve heard things like chat UI elements not scaling well and being hard to read.
My previous rig was a 4th gen i5 and dual GTX 760s. Reading up on current hardware a 7600k and a GTX 1060 will out perform my old setup and is very cheap to build. However I’ve been thinking about getting a GTX 1080 with the recent price drops but I don’t want to shell out the extra cash and not have a pleasant gaming experience.
Any input on how this game preforms at 1440p?
Haven’t played sPvP since preHOT.
Terrormancer still a thing? Or anything comparable ?
Sorry to bring it down to you, but staff is a terrible weapon, only useful in pvp. If you truly care about performance, you will swap to dagger/focus + greatsword. Staff may also be the cause of your problem with LF generation.
Totally understand, but I like the aesthetics of a Staff very much and refuse to give it up. I also hate being cornered into a melee class, even though axe is still ranged I just prefer the look of a staff.
So looks like general consensus is switching to Valkyrie gear will render me worthless without a group? I know I won’t have many buffs / debuffs playing solo, I just figured I’d still be able to hold my own in solo content. It’s usually just fluff I’m fighting anyways.
I’m currently doing general PvE to earn mastery experience. Solo events, META events, Teq, low level Fractals.
I’ve been told several times in game I should convert to Valkyries gear to increase HP / LF pool without sacrificing damage output. I’ve found several guides and tutorials on YouTube explaining how it works better (example brazil videos)
I was told to swap out blood magic for soul reaping for better survivability via staying in shroud longer and building LF quicker.
Really the only thing I’m not interested in changing is swapping Staff out. I wish to retain that no matter what build / gear I decide on.
I just feel that currently with Berserker’s gear I have a ton of precision that’s not needed and feel the points could be better allocated into vitality.
What is a good ideal base crit chance for a Power Reaper?
I’ve been running full Ascended Berserker’s gear on my Reaper and I’m about to convert it all to Valkyrie gear in the Mystic Forge. As suggested my many players in game and on several YouTube tutorials (Brazil for one example)
I’m using this Reaper build (build input also welcome) I was advised to drop blood magic for soul reaping for higher uptime on shroud for better survival without sacrificing on damage.
I know I’ll defiantly have 100% chance in shroud, but I’m worried about non shrouded crit chance with Gravedigger skill.
Is an ideal level of precision I should be aiming for? I don’t want to convert all my gear to Valkyries only to find out I’m not able to get those wonderful 30k+ crits anymore.
Running general PvE to farm mastery experience. Mostly solo play, some META events, Teq & a few low level fractals. Not interested in swapping Staff out for Axe. That’s pretty much the only thing I’m not open to change.
Appreciate any advice!

Remember to load up on the various XP bonuses too
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience#Experience_modifiersAlso the new LS3 maps give a fair amount of HoT experience. Not sure how active Bloodstone Fen is recently, but I remember getting a good amount of XP by repeatedly taxiing into Jade event maps.
Anyone know what experience boosters stack?
Haven’t played WvW since pre HOT.
I had loads of fun playing on a condi-terrormancer support build. (0/6/4/0/4)
I have full set of ascended gear Dire armor with perplexity runes and rabid trinkets / weapons.
Is this gear setup still viable? Or should I spend my time farming a new set with different stats?
I haven’ messed around with the new trait system to see if I can still do a build like this, wanted to see if this gear is still relevant at all…
Appreciate any advice!

Hello all,
What is the best way to currently farm experience for mastery’s? I need to farm about 11.1 million experience to get my elite spec ascended weapon. Currently I’m doing AB meta and dragon stand meta once a day.
What else should I look at doing? Can I do AB / DS more then once a day? Is it the same experience every time or does it get lower after each time?
Hello all!
I’ve just obtained a Ghostly Infusion, I’m wondering if the aura will stack with my current poly luminescent refractor?
Thanks!
Appreciate the replies.
I don’t think I’m enjoying reaper at all. Feels sluggish and fragile.
I prefer to use the class as a ranged class I guess.
Maybe I phrased my question wrong.
What can I do that rewards equal to or greater loot then the Teq event.
Prior to expansion I would run Teq, Fractal, and SW meta once a day, every day.
Ok. I assume by Personal Story you mean both Core and HoT.
You can look up the Current Events ‘quests’ in the Wiki and see if they interest you.
I can’t really tell by your posts what may or may not interest you; you can check the plethora of collections to see if any of the rewards are something you desire.
Not sure how long you’ve been gone; you can check the ‘Releases’ page and/or Game Release Notes for all the new content.
Again, good luck.
Correct both core & hot story lines finished.
I’ve pretty much got my characters look the way I want it, with the exception of perhaps the legendary staff Nevermore.
Are these “current event quests” just reference to achievements?
I guess I’m more or less looking for an idea of what things I should defiantly try to do everyday. World bosses, META events, dungeons, raids, fractals?
I usually do Teq for the daily chest thing and a fractal if its in the daily. Are there other events I need should be doing on a daily basis?
Well, you can unlock all/part of Masteries.
Have you finished all other parts of the game? Completed all Current Events? All collections? Acquired all Ascended gear? Completed Season 2? Elite Specializations for all Professions? Obtained Elite Specialization Gear? Completed the Raids?
There is a lot of content in the game; what interests you?
Welcome return and good luck.
I’ve been gone too long and I’m not sure what the “must do” events/activites are. I still do Teq daily along with completing 3 of the daily quests that pop up when you login, other then that I’m just sitting idle in LA or grinding out mastery levels aimlessly somewhere.
I’m not a fan of collections, unless it rewards something I want. I only have 1 character and I have two sets of full ascended gear from where I left off. One PvE berserker’s set and one PvP set.
I’ve completed all personal story, along with LW1-3. Elite spec is unlocked. I have not yet raided.
Hello all!
Picked up HoT recently and I Just finished personal story, unlocking elite spec, and all LS3 content.
What should I be doing now? Feels like mastery grinding is all there is?
Hey all!
Returning player working my way through HoT content. I’ve just finished personal story now I’m working my way through LS3.
Looking to change up my build a little. Currently running a power minion build I found a little while ago great survivability and DPS but I’ve grown a bit bored of it so I’m looking to try out a reaper build.
I’d like to find something that works with the current gear I have until I can afford to switch it up.
I have a full set of Ascended Berserker’s gear with Scholar runes and I’m looking to use my Ascended Staff / Great Sword as weapons.
Anyone have recommendations as to where to start? Any guidance is much appreciated!
Returning player trying to work though HoT story.
In what order should I go about leveling masteries to complete the story. I keep getting gated by not having something leveled or unlocked.
After completion of story, what would you prioritize?
Appreciate any guidance!
Hello all,
Returning player having difficult time.
I’m looking for an exotic back piece that can be salvaged (so I can get it back if I find something better down the road)
I’ve finally acquired a Poly-luminescent Undulating Refractor from the Halloween event but I can’t for the life of me find anything I can socket it into!!!!!
I’ve been looking through the wiki for days trying to find a comprehensive complete list of exotic back pieces but I’m failing hard.
Does anyone have any recommendations?!?!
Thanks for any help or guidance!
Appreciate the replies!
So am I to understand that Condi is now the way to go for PvE?
So much for the full set of ascended berserker gear I spent all that time farming

If I wanted to stick with a power build what would you guys recommend? Still berserk / scholars?
What about traits?
Hello all!
Just picked up expansion and I’m currently working through grinding HoT story line.
I have a few questions:
1) Berserker’s gear still best stat for necro PvE? When I left it was pretty much the go to.
(currently running DS build)
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBmQDbkhGaqxWawmGYvxRuQBDgGYFk3wW/10yYNaWA-TxRBABXt/wDXUBAeSB4p7BLlfLqE0S1f+GQAMEIIIECh1atWrGChQIIFwA7sA-e
2) Unfortunately I’m not enjoying the reaper spec and would prefer not to use it. How much am I going to suffer if I don’t use it? Is it an absolute must have or am I fine without it?
Hello all,
I have a question about black wings and glider skin.
A few years back I purchased the black wings skin for my back item, and I’ve recently picked up HoT and see that they are selling the black wings for the glider skin.
Do I need to repurchase the wings from the gem store? Or will the skin from the wings I bought a few years back be able to be used on my glider?
Thanks all! Figured I’d ask before spending another 700 gems
So what exactly do mastery levels do?
Once u figure out how to get mastery points for lvls.. u begin to farm for them. Once u learn how to farm for them, u begin to realise why u need them. Once u realise why u need them (e.g. mastery exp/pts.) u begin to farm for them with greater enthusiasm and interest. Once u start to farm for them with greater interest, u begin to realise how hopeless it all is and how u want to stop grinding and just unlock ur masteries alrdy so u can stop sucking and falling face flat on content that comes natural to everyone else. Once u realise how hopeless it all is, u get better at farming for said masteries. Once u get better at farming for ur masteries, u feel good about yourself since life is alot easier for u. Once u feel good about yourself, u start to feel bored and unmotivated as u realise how most of the masteries are largely useless, like how no I don’t wanna run faster in cities since it doesn’t stack with swiftness anyway. Once u realise how masteries are largely useless, u will either choose to max them out because u are basically being forced to or focus on something more worth ur time and effort (e.g. specialization unlocks and other content).
This post makes me not want to even log in.
So what exactly do mastery levels do?
Gliding and Auto Autoloot are among the more popular features.
Nice to see you decided to take the plunge, after all.
Good luck.
Thanks for being constructive and positive!!!
So what exactly do mastery levels do?
Hello all!
I’ve just picked up GW2HOT and I haven’t played in a few years.
I have a level 80 Necromancer, and was in the process of getting full ascended berserker gear when I left and currently have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing / working towards lol
Previously, I would complete dailies, run a few fractals, run tenq when available and speed most of my evenings doing WvW.
I currently don’t have a gaming rig and I’ll be playing on a low – mid end laptop (i5, 8gb ram, integrated GPU) and WvW doesn’t seem to be treating my FPS good so I’m going to avoid that until I can get a new rig built.
What are things I should be doing or focusing on until I can get back into my WvW grind? Stuff I can do solo or in a small group that won’t tax my system too bad.
Any direction is much appreciated as I’ve just been running around lions arch jumping in circles for the past hour
Thanks for the replies, appreciate you guys clearing it up.
Hopefully the offer the expansion without the original game. Sounds great for new customers, but it’s a slap in the face for someone who spent money already on the original game.
I feel kind of indifferent right now lol… maybe I shouldn’t invite him to play
I got an email about pre-ordering the expansion the other day. I was chatting with my roommate about it and he decided he was going to pickup a copy of the original GW2 and give it a go before the expansion released.
He hopped on his computer and was unable to find the orginal game for sale, but rather a new package deal of the game + the expansion for $50. Which isn’t a bad deal considering he would get both games.
The problem is he wasn’t ready to commit the $50 on a game he might not stick with. I told him I thought it was around $25 which he was okay with.
So a few questions:
1.) Is there no way for my roommate to purchase ONLY the ORIGINAL game? Or will he have to drop the $50 on the package deal?
2.) I jumped on my computer and logged in to prepurchase the expansion for myself. However I’m unable to find where I can purchase just the expansion? It seems the cheapest thing they’re selling is the expansion + original game for $50? I already own the original game and would rather not pay for it twice. Am I unable to purchase just the expansion?
This game was on sale a couple of times pretty recently for $10. Now it seems like they are trying to get $50 no matter what you want? Or are we completely missing something?
Trolling forums / reddit today I’ve noticed a lot of rage in the necro community.
What changes are they making? I’ve been looking but can’t seem to find a list or anything
That’s crazy on that little G series. I can’t get any close to that even with everything on LOW.
I’ve tried your settings but my FPS has tanked with render sampling on super.
I just realized, you never included a screenshot with GPU-Z main window.
that shows the PCIE bus link speed. It should show x16 v3 @ x16 V3 While GW2 is running. Make sure that it is.
When i first rebuild my 4790K (it was a 4670K before), I had a x1 v1.1 issue that caused the game to run at 30FPS no matter the settings.
I had to reseat the GPU 3 times to fix it. I think the Slot had dust or something in it from my 280x (upgraded to dual 290’s). After that both GPUs were at x8 v3 specs.
see what yours says with GW2 in a window.
Here ya go, I’m running SLI.
This is with all settings lowest possible with super sampling on. Can’t even get 60 lol
that really just doesnt add up.
Do me a favor, pull the 2nd card from your system and rerun that last screenshot. I want to see if you jump to x16 verson3 and if your FPS does anything different.
Also are you using the SLI bridges with your cards?
I can’t pull the cards as I’m running a water loop.
Prior to going SLI it was running x16 properly. Yes I’m using an ASUS SLI bridge.
with out pulling the 2nd card its going to be hard to isolate it down to the PCIE bridges, SLI bridges, Power supply, or just a faulty card somewhere in there.
But all your status are correct, from what I can tell. Did you drop down the GPU selection on GPu-Z to verify both cards are at 8x btw? thats the only other thing I can think of.
Every other game I play has zero issues :/
I have an 850w Corsair PSU Gold cert, bridge is brand new with second GPU.
Prior to water loop I had zero issues with my first card. I also ran the second card by itself for almost a week to ensure stability.
Both cards are running 8x
I honestly have no idea what is causing it to perform so bad

I don’t see any big issue, but the game runs like that at such settings. Try reducing these:
- Put Frame limiter to “Unlimited”.
- Put reflections to “Terran & Sky”.
- Shadows to “High” or even “Medium”.
- Put Character Model Limit and Quality to “High” or “Medium”.
- Check Effect LOD.
- Uncheck V-sync.Also I advise you to not to use FXAA. It blurs the game one of a hell.
I’ll give it a go, I just find it weird that my hardware isn’t being ran at its optimal levels and I’m still not getting 60fps idle
There are 2 BIG settings that screw with performance on even the highest end of hardware
Character Limit
ReflectionsThose are both heavily CPU bound and will cripple even a 5ghz i7.
I usually run character limit on Medium and Reflections on Terrain and sky only.
that should give you another 20-30FPS.
Yeah I’ll give it a go. I can probably deal with the blur and loss of resolution at a distance. I just hate seeing floating names and pixelated textures up close.
Shouldn’t be a blur in the distance. Name plates yea, in zerg content.
ALso if you are using FXAA turn it off. it does nothing for the game. Super Sampling then forcing higher AA in your GPUs control panel is a much better option over the crappy FXAA in game.
One thing about reflections :-)
There is a GIANT pool of water under MOST of the zones in the game. The surface of that pool is reflected when you use ALL for reflections. This kills performance due to this, so setting it to terrain/sky is the work around to this issue.I tested this in WvW when you could teleport under the ground and swim around. Setting to terrain and sky removes the reflection from the under ground water :-)
I’ve made all the recommended changes above, but haven’t noticed an FPS improvement.
What AA would you recommend using in the control panel?
Also, what other settings could I lower that have little visual impact?
