Condition damage is overpowered. 90% of professions playing PvP are condition damage based. Raiding is all about condition damage, high level fractals want condition damage. Everything is about conditions.
Welcome to Condi Wars 2, where you can buy the expansion Path of Burning.
Why power builds are at top dps atm then?
Because that feedback comes from training dummies and training robots, with no toughness, no evades, and no damage mitigation. Such mitigation does not exist with conditions, because of game concepts and design.
With overpowered conditions there are 2 choices: cleanse or die. That is it.

It does not really matter how we rate it. If a profession can play condition damage, then it will be top, if not… well… we know where it will be. Condition damage is all that matters nowadays.
You should help one another. Let the players do their dailies and get their 2 gold. In the end we all voted for SoloQ a while ago. There you have it: afk players, all kinds of players, and fast SoloQ for dailies.
Toxicity in PvP is 80% ArenaNet’s fault.
Ranked is played with a friend of your choice in best case scenario, but even under those circumstances 60% of your team is not under your choice, or under your communication. To this, add typing on keyboard, because by the time you finish a few words, you are dead, because the game is very fast. To this, add that most players do not have any voice chat (Discord, or Teamspeak, or Skype) or do not have a working microphone.
To diminish toxicity in matches, we need to be allowed to enjoy the game with friends, and guild mates, in voice chat; not with some random unknown people given to us by ArenaNet, with the purpose to carry them and promote their game product. Toxicity in matches comes from players, but it’s roots come from developer teams and marketing teams, because they listened to children wanting fast rewards and SoloQ.

Depends on what you want. There are a lot of dedicated PvE guilds, some of them completing hard content.
There are a few dedicated WvW guilds, but here depends mostly on your server choice. WvW will have no new dedicated content in Path of Fire expansion.
There are no dedicated PvP guilds, because ranked PvP is played in maximum 2 players party, on a 5 man team (60% of team is unaccessible). PvP will also have no new dedicated content with Path of Fire expansion.
There are also PvX guilds, doing everything and everywhere… but you do know how such things work out.
Weaver 1/10
Spellbreaker 7/10
Deadeye 7/10
Scourge 8/10
Soulbeast 9/10
Yea would take that with a bunch of salt 1-50 employes right.
Ever heard of outsourcing? Do you know where this game is designed?
A stick is still a stick, no matter how much you sharp it, or add metal to it, it is still a stick, and will remain a stick. Stop asking to make weapons look the same and behave the same.
The whole world around us is built on diversity, games should have diversity as well. Let the developers use their imagination and not transform this game into an uniform thinking with no tastes.
I kindly request from ArenaNet to NOT remove armor repair. It was already nerfed more than enough by removing it’s costs, and now armor repair is for free, like every NPC is there to serve us for free.
I wonder when ArenaNet will give a whole expansion for free just because we press “F” and request it. Removing armor repairing is like ArenaNet sends us, to our home, a free copy of every expansion just because we bought the game and failed to complete the previous expansion. I know the examples are a bit off, but this is how I feel.
MMO games should not be easy, should be hard. Armor repair is extremely important, at the very least at a psychological level to value the game (like it is now, for free).
Condition Damage is a problem in this game. It’s a never ending discussion between people that defend it (to not be nerfed) and those that complain about it (want it nerfed). One thing is for sure: I will continue play condition damage during PoF. It’s overpowered, it’s lazy, it’s easy, and it is rewarding.
For those worried that it will be nerfed because of complaints… stop worrying. It is too late to balance things now (2 weeks till release), and PoF needs to sell to all players, especially the many ones who love conditions and keep raiding while doing hard PvE content.
My advice to all (not that it matters anyway) is to play Condition Damage build. This is the direction of the game throughout PoF. As a side note: Path of Fire implies fire = burning, doh!
I love this glider. I love all those effects. Thank you very much ArenaNet, and please add more items like this to the game because I will buy them all.
I have an HD graphics card capable of showing special effects. I also play a modern MMO called Guild Wars 2.
I love all flashy effects, and I like all particle effects. I kindly ask ArenaNet to give me more special effects, and provide me with more CGI because I will buy them all. This is why I play this game.
As a side note: I like the name “Path of Fire”, and I strongly expect more “fire”. Please do not let me down.
/facepalm
Bank tabs are enough as they are. Some players really need to think on space management, and stop futile hoarding.

+1 for that hair style. I like that too.
No, thank you, I shall not participate. I am just a client, not an employee.

I must agree with this. Titles are way off lore. There is a huge lack of imagination here. For example “Elonian Envoy” from PoF prepurchase, what does it even mean? Why not Fire Envoy, or Flame Envoy, or Scout of Fire (because we are PoF scouts, and beta testers, and stress testers, and feedback providers). Those titles would have been way better, but this is just my humble opinion.
Let’s see if I get this right… Guild Wars 2 players are wanted to get into game on 31 August 2017 and use demo accounts, spend hours in Path of Fire, just tot test PoF product.
Will I get payed? Will I get any rewards? Will I get anything for my time spent on testing your product or content?
From what I understand I get nothing from testing other virtual content. The demo account will be erased, and I won’t get any reward or attention from my time spent there, in that expansion. Why should I do that?! There is no fun in wasting valuable time that will be erased and forgotten later. Every second of life counts.
I am sorry, but like Benjamin Franklin said: “Time is money”. I shall not help you with my time unless you pay me.
In a few months it will be 50% off on official website, it will be 50% off in stores on Black Friday. What it’s worth is indeed subjective. I am a PvP player mostly, and for me it does not worth anything, because there is no new PvP content (except new specializations).
I encourage PvE players to buy it. But I can’t encourage PvP players and WvW players to buy it on full price just for some new specializations, and please note this is just my humble opinion.
Feel free to do whatever you want, in the end it’s all about what you like and what you enjoy most in your life.
Instead of: “PvP Abandoned, You have been remove from matchmaking and tournaments”; that message should state: “PvP Abandoned, this game is no longer focused on PvP starting Path of Fire”.
My biggest fail was hoping for better content in PvP and WvW.
I am not even sure to buy the expansion, because there is no PvP content and I can’t say that I love mounts (everything will be around mounts).
I still remember the good old days when PvP was played in teams with small tournaments, just for fun and some PvE skins unlocks, no other rewards provided.
Yea, but outside of mists we were poor like rats, having 10g was alot (its like now 1000g if you only pvp).
But still, that was all a PvP player needed: one team, one communication, one match, and some skins to unlock.
<sarcasm>
Topic should not be closed. Champions deserve their rewards. People will sing songs about today’s glorious deeds.

It’s all about taste. Every person likes design in their own way. I personally like most designs created so far. I also have a few dislikes, but it’s all subjective to each person. I am very sure that Guild Wars 2 designers like every single outfit and every single piece of armor or weapon.
Happy Anniversary to all players. Happy Anniversary to ArenaNet. Today Guild Wars 2 celebrates it’s release. Thank you all for the great time spent together.
I have nothing against wings. I don’t like them, but I don’t dislike them either.
However, as a player I do notice a huge lack of imagination. I want to fly on a firefly, or glide with a helicopter, or glide behind a thermonuclear rocket that explodes on impact , or a paper plane like the one I created in childhood, or be carried in claws of a pigeon like a paper message. There is not enough diversity in gliding, but this is just my humble opinion.
Unfortunately this discussion is opened too late. Heart of Thorns expansion (that introduced gliding) has reached an ending. I fail to see any good reason for gliding redesign now.
Birthday gifts are a bonus. It is not ArenaNet fault that you, as a player, have all dyes and you do not miss anything in your account.
This game is made for the hard gamer and casuals too. I am a casual player, and I try to obtain only what a like. For me the new anniversary gift did not provide something I wanted, but I still managed to find a dye that I like a bit, so it’s a nice bonus.
In the end this is just a bonus, and from the bottom of my heart I thank ArenaNet for it. It shows that ArenaNet values me as an old player and thinks about me.
Thank you ArenaNet, and Happy Birthday for your 5 years of entertainment of Guild Wars 2 game!
No. There will not be new professions with PoF. Also no PvP and no WvW content. This is good, because new specializations need an insane amount of work to balance and make the game stable… on the other hand who knows, money come first.
Elite specializations of PoF felt completely not suited for basic concepts behind each profession. We have 2 trait lines dictating basic tactic for a given profession, and then comes a PoF trait line forcing something completely different from basic concepts.
I though HoT specializations were strange when HoT was released, but I am starting to appreciate those more. Unfortunately, I do not like PoF specializations at all.
Clunky is a word widely used throughout this feedback post. In fact “clunky” is the word that defines PoF specializations as in “awkward”, “heavy”, “clumsy”.
Weaver is unplayable. It is way too complex and not rewarding. There is no time to wait for cooldowns to access a specific spell fast enough. Using a spell (on right) to block the weaver dual-atunements (on left) is not a solution, it’s just a shortcut denying the whole purpose of weaver for a few seconds.
Weaver is broken. The idea was great initially, but the way it was implemented with all those cooldowns and low damage, ruined this great idea.
In my opinion all cooldowns of atunements should all be completely removed, it would make weaver somewhat playable, and flexible as intended.
New specs are not overpowered at all. They are working as intended, to sell the expansion.
This is simple marketing.
New elite specializations will be overpowered, because they must sell, the expansion must sell. Having an expansion release in mid season, will make the whole meta shift around PoF, therefore you will no longer be strong if you do not have PoF.
PvP players will have to buy PoF, otherwise all their wins until that point will be for nothing. In my opinion this season is not about PvP dedication, it’s about milking a skinny cow that already gets no food in this expansion.
The whole expansion is around mounts. Traveling is much harder without mounts and is much easier to get killed by some veteran. Meanwhile, waypoints are really scarce. If you die, you must start over from a long distance, forcing you to use the mount and get back on tracks. Also, without mount you can’t jump over canyons or other obstacles.
It seems like this whole expansion is around mounts, and how to force players in using them. I do not blame Anet though, I blame all those players who requested mounts and wanted this game to be like any other game.
Kinda unplayable in pvp.
Why exactly would you want to play PvP? Are you that bored? Do you have some health issues or something?
Congratulations to all great players for figuring out how to “use” this game. Miaz may be a GOD, but let’s not forget how small this PvP community is. Let’s also not forget how small this community will be when Path of Fire is released, because it has only PvE content.
I do not wish to destroy your statements and thinking. He/She may be a GOD, but we are talking about a Puny God, with an extremely small number of believers.
Voice communication was asked many times, by strong competitive teams, and by PvE and WvW guilds. It was a very interesting idea, but I don’t think it matters anymore:
1. there is no content for Path of Fire, reducing PvP community even further, making voice communication redundant.
2. Voice communication would only increase costs, because of bandwidth requirements, server requirements, design requirements.
I will stop playing PvP. There is a PvE expansion coming, and 2 days ago (in latest patch) they already nuked down PvP builds in preparation for PoF. Path of Fire will not have any PvP content, so that you can understand the official thinking of how important it is.
I made some gold, but I already used it for PvE. I am currently trying to learn more PvE because PvP is no longer an option. PoF comes with no PvP content, so there is no point in playing PvP anymore.
Here we are, talking about the balance of professions. It’s nice, but I don’t think it matters. There is no Player Versus Player content in Path of Fire. It’s normal to bring down all professions so that new expansion will sell better.
As a PvP player I have no incentive to buy the next expansion (Path of Fire). However, I feel very happy for all those PvE players that will receive new content and new specializations.
Didn’t Ragnaros come with the Cataclysm expansion which was well after GW1 launched?
No. Ragnaros existed from the beginnings of WoW. It is the representation of fire element, final boss of Molten Core, since Vanilla.
Thank you for this great marketing idea.
PoF is released soon but there is no PvP and no WvW content. So players from PvP and WvW can now use their gear by changing their stats and use new PvE maps from PoF. This is pure marketing.
This is an interesting way of making WvW players and PvP player buy Path of Fire expansion for it’s PvE, without actually delivering any specific content designed for their WvW and PvP.
So I bought PoF already and I am really regretting it after having read this. This is just a little too much for me. They sell GW2 as “no gear grind,” but I consistently find myself having to fix builds due to their insanely heavy-handed approach. They were so close to actual BALANCE in PvE, that I was actually getting pretty excited. I think I’m going to switch games now….
/end whining
The real question I was asking is… the game isn’t out yet, how do I go about getting a refund? Do I just cancel it from the side of PayPal?
Why buy it so early? there’s still upcoming beta weekends to get previews first.
Would think people would take some lessons from the HoT launch and wait till last minute to buy it if anything, see what major changes come with it, like all the trait reworks and condition revamp with HoT, it’s not like there’s limited supply lol.
It seems people never learn. They took a hit on HoT, and now they can’t wait to take another hit on PoF. I will wait, and wait, and wait. Most likely I will not even buy PoF because I am a PvP player and there is nothing new for PvP… but who knows… for 30$ I might try PvE… whatever… I will wait a long time before taking another hit. If there is one thing I learned from the past, it is to never ever trust them and their promises.

Im a little surprised how many people say they dont wants mounts after seeing so many posts about it for the last 5 years in the forums
There is a huge difference between asking and wanting. Indeed, for the past couple of years players have been asking about mounts, and that because many came from other Massive Multiplayer Online games containing mounts. They asked of this mechanic to see if it exists in this game, but this does not mean they wanted mounts here, nor does it mean they needed mounts here.
This game has waypoints, mounts are redundant. ArenaNet introduces mounts with purpose: reaching locations; and all of a sudden mounts are no longer a mechanic as we know it from other games: fun traveling from point A to point B and C (especially when we must unlock masteries to upgrade mounts).
That is why we now have a problem. Reaching higher and higher could have easily been achieved not by mounts, but some character travel spells (Dry Top?). All that time spent to design mounts and mechanics for mounts, could have been better spent in other PvE content, or adding some diversity to PvP with new game modes, or adding some new mechanics to lure players in WvW and not leave it deserted.
Seriously. Deadeye, sniper, can mark targets, attacks at longest range/from stealth.
And after the sniper identifies a target from large distance, the closest engineer launches a thermonuclear rocket towards the location marked by sniper.
As a long time MMO player mounts are nothing new for me. And, I confess, I love mounts. But, there are a couple things that bring concern with the fact that it is Anet that is implementing them. First, I hope that they are not hidden behind silly insane grinds. Mounts, for me, are fun, enriching, and just a very large QoL addition to any game. There are some that should be extremely easy to obtain (the functionality) and there should be some that must be pursued. Second, I hope that they are not used to gate content. And, this is a large fear because Anet. I don’t want to need a particular mount to do particular content. I don’t want to encounter anything in PoF that remotely resembles a bouncing mushroom. I don’t want a required mount in order to do platforming. I want them to be for travel and for fun. It would be hugely disappointing if they gated content or were a platforming tool. (From the video this may already be a lost cause.)
Those are the main concerns. Additionally, I would like true flying mounts at some point. This is largely for the view of the game world they would provide. GW2 is such a beautiful game I would love to see it from every angle. There are some who believe this would be antithetical to exploration but I disagree. There are areas that I quested through in WoW with flying that, because of the questing, I stood on just about every square inch of the zone. And, I know those maps like the back of my hand because of flying not in spite of it. Anyway, my thoughts on mounts.
That is my problem too. Mounts have gated content behind them. A player would have to unlock masteries in order to upgrade mount and reach a given location.
People complained about conditions since HoT release (especially PvP players). Now, after 2 years, they listened, because they once again need our money.
Sorry, not this time. 2 years ago they tricked me into it and I received 2 years of conditions. You will not get my money anymore, then trick me into it. I learned my lesson.
People have been asking for option to return to same location multiple times. But clearly this is not extremely important, because players buy those passes like crazy; there are always many people in those area, meaning those passes sell well.
To design such option of returning to same location, then that would mean all zones would have to be instance zones, and the work with design for every such zone would not worth it.
Regarding “Lily of the Elon” pass, I strongly don’t think it will ever be available for 1000 gems, but it will be included with every deluxe upgrade bought with gems. So this item will be available to all players upgrading to deluxe at a later time.
