Tomorow is April Fools’ Day.
What will this day bring in 2016? Is there any info?
Traps are the most annoying, for 3 reasons:
1. easy cast to place damage and crowd control.
2. their damage can not be dodged (cancels your dodge reflexes).
3. their fields can not be seen (unlike necro fields).
I consider this the best PvP season ever.
There is one problem though: I do not PvP.
The MMR takes profession into account. But at higher ranks how this matters? If you play Engineer for the first time, even if you are Diamond, you will still get your team backwards.
The example with 5DH vs 5Reapers is interesting, but highly unlikely. Now imagine 5DH main profession VS 5Reapers playing for the first time, all in Diamond. This right here is the big problem I am trying to underline.
I kindly request from ArenaNet to introduce Ranks by Profession, not by account. I request this because most players reach a certain rank with one main profession, and then they change professions for testing purposes (or because they get bored), bringing loss to team.
Right now ranks are per account in season. In future I would be glad if ArenaNet would consider setting ranks per profession in season.
This would reflect the skill of a player on that specific profession. This would also reflect how overpowered is a profession, by how many players reach Legend rank, with that specific profession.
1. Remove PvP from the game.
2. Cancel the idea of eSports.
3. Improve Mass PvP such as WvW because at least it sometimes works.
4. Let people see the other players builds and gear.
5. Make HotM a map for duels (so it’s not deleted); let’s face it: PvP is a complete fail and kids enjoy 1v1 nowdays.
After this season, most likely in mid April 2016.
No, the places are in Core Tyria so you have to go back to HotM to queue.
Thank you.
I kindly ask for an answer from someone who has such passes, please.
I would not think so; why would the Terrace or Airship pass have anything to do with that?
Because these cost 1000 gems for ultimate convenience (except PvP?). I wish to buy this, but I am a PvP player, therefore it would be worthless to me.
This is why I am asking if you can queue for PvP while in Royal Terrace or in Captain Airship, without being teleported to HotM. I keep an eye on these items, asking this question whenever I see a modification in patch notes regarding these items.
Yes. But can anyone confirm if you can queue in PvP from those locations, just like in HotM?
According to official announcement:
“The Captain’s Airship Pass and Royal Terrace Pass can now be used from the PvP lobby, WvW, dungeons, and raids. Using these passes will cause you to lose your progress in those instances.”
Question: Can you queue in PvP from these locations, or it teleports you to Heart of the Mists?
Crowd Control is bad, extremely bad, very very bad for PvP balance.
Crowd Control is interesting, entertaining, especially for kids when they control other players.
Because of these opposing reasons, PvP should have a very small and well thought out dose of crowd control.
But, most likely all this is just my opinion, because this game does not have a small dose, but a huge dose, in just a few professions.
Guardian traps are overpowered. It’s insane ground CC, with damage, and large area of action. Stacked together these hold in place not one player, but all players caught, for a long period of time. Combine these together, add power creep damage from other players, stack some conditions to them, and they are all dead soon, after being held in place. Why?! Because they tried to not loose points.
CC will one day kill this game PvP (as small as it is), just like it killed PvP in WoW (where Blizz still works on removing another huge amount of CC) or other MMO games. If you do not believe me, ask their players, or check their forums, or watch their videos of PvP.
All DragonHunters feel free to comment. I understand you, I am glad you have fun with your builds, but try to see things the other way around. This is not balance. This is not esports.
This is just my opinion, feel free to love me, hate me, or ignore me.
Yes. That is exactly the challenge. Try to play something, anything, without meta builds, or without the elite trait line, and see what happens.
The challenge is to create your own build, something completely different, but not meta. With that in mind you can see how “beautiful” the balance is, and how they do “not love” money while “not making” you to buy expansion.
PvP is all about advertisement. Bahahalance patchs have only one goal: to make pro league entertaining to watch, certainly not entertaining to play. In a pay to play model, anet only needs to sell the game to win. It doesn’t matter if victims shortly notice this game is full of rubbish.
Companies these days go for short term benefits. It may not seem wise at first but if you look closer to the gaming industry, the offer is more and more overwhelming. Average players don’t invest much time into a game before switching to another.
I may be wrong somewhere, but that’s what it looks like to me.
Indeed, you are right. There is no long term vision and only short term profit matters to them. Slowly, in time, the product will fade away. History of many other games confirms it.
Yeah, communications were quite poor. It’s almost as if they’ve already given up on the whole pro league concept and are just following through on some commitments at this point.
They gave up because players gave up; players gave up because the product was not stable enough; product was not balanced because they did not care enough.
hype train…Alllll aboaaaaaard!
There is no hype.
Hype was last year before releasing HoT, and that was for PvE, not PvP.
Probably is just my opinion, but there is no E-Sports for GuildWars2. For example I do not care. First we must have a good product, and only afterwards advertise it.
You ask for more advertising… advertise what exactly? How many players like PvP and love the balance in this game? From those players, how many like to watch streams and have passion for PvP tournaments (not just legendary backpack crafting)?
Like I said, something changed. Elementalist is no longer a concept like advertised on main website.
Main website information about Elementalist (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/elementalist/) should be changed:
“Elementalists are multi-faceted spellcasters that channel elemental forces, making fire, air, earth, and water do their bidding. What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack sustain and the ability to keep themselves alive while providing some healing support.”
To all those for Cleric Auramancer… go ahead and have fun with it. I will not.
I strongly hope to meet you guys with Cleric Auramancer and demolish you, while you are trolling 5-6 seconds waiting for an overload.
Note: Do not tell necros Regeneration can be converted into Poison. I want to kill you without their help.
With this topic in mind, here is a quote from movie A Few Good Men:
Staff: I’ll answer the question. You want answers?
User: I think I am entitled to.
Staff: You want answers?!
User: I want the truth!
Staff: You can’t handle the truth!
Who knows? Probably is hard to balance an ele, wearing light armor, with so many spells, to adjust in regards to other 9 professions and their abilities.
I think elementalist was not built to be a healer or bunker. The concept behind this profession was to deal huge damage. Somehow things changed.
The following is taken from official website: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/elementalist/
“Elementalists are multi-faceted spellcasters that channel elemental forces, making fire, air, earth, and water do their bidding. What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack.”
I love seeing threads complaining about the overpowered mesmers and the underpowered mesmers on the same page of the pvp forums lol.
Indeed. Simply awesome.
Customers have no clue what they want. ArenaNet can never make everyone happy.
The suggested build is bad, it does not work. That is not a support build at all.
Yes, it removes conditions with shouts, but the cooldown on shouts can not provide elementalist the status of support.
Choosing Cleric or Mender amulets can not provide status of support to ele, because all that healing (from major stats) goes mostly to self healing, not party healing, therefore… no support in healing.
In best case scenario (build provided) an elementalist is a selfish bunker with 29 useless spells for himself to troll around on a point.
Have fun.
Wrong on so many levels…. Just w8 till the league finals, I’ve already talked to many top-players and they all said that their team is definitely gonna run a D/F clerics-ele.
We shall see about that…

I am glad I am not the only one having trouble, so this idea can be shared.
I would love a cape, red cape.
Superman to the rescue!
Elementalist has many spells, and he/she needs to combine them from survivability to damage, from disengage to crowd control.
He needs time to survive, time to damage, time to wait atunements recharge, time to disengage properly, time to wait overload before activating it. So many spells, so much time required to cast them all. With elementalist, there is no 123 tactic to kill an opponent, no one shot macro, no 7.5K damage in a single spell. And here is the problem.
Celestial builds gave elementalists time to survive until that moment when they tried to kill the opponent with might. Now there is no celestial.
All those 29 spells are awesome to have, but they can not be focused only on damage, to play like a thief and burst the enemy fast in 123; they can not be focused on healing and support to play like a guardian with traps for CC and support.
Elementalists now have 29 spells (20 basic, 5 special, 4 overloads) but all of them are useless with so many condition stacking, so much CC and so much burst from enemy, all those casted in 123 macros.
Elementalist right now is a concept issue, a big mistake, proven because last season Elementalist was the least played profession, and now in ESL is the least chosen profession. Numbers and statistics do not lie.
Let’s not forget this is the game. Sometimes your main profession is on top, sometimes is on bottom. This is the worst time to play Elementalist. It’s better to wait for better times.
Mounts are not needed for 3 reasons.
1. I have waypoints all over the game.
2. I have gliding to fly all over the game.
3. I don’t want to see mount excrements and dirt everywhere.
I know this may sound silly, but I strongly think interface in game should be able to change by players. Instead of having changes like Inventory “Compact” option, we should have strong changes like opponent section location (from up center to anywhere else), team location (from top left to anywhere else) and buff-condi location (from down to anywhere else).
In my opinion these changes are important, because the game is extremely fast, and your eyes struggle to look all over places; examples:
- from up (see opponent condis) to down (see your condis).
- from center down (health bar) to up center (your opponent health), and center screen (how to disengage if required).
- from spells (if you do not know them all) to your opponent (up center) to see their effect in action, or center screen to see if he has invulnerability or some damage mitigation.
- from left side (team) to right side (minimap) so you can corelate if team needs help (if you play without teamspeak (or any other form of voice chat)
I attached a screenshot of how it should look like.
Please note: this is not my idea, I only remember these options from World of Warcraft game, where I used addons like: Interrupt Bar, Gladius, GladiatorLosSA and so on.
I know this game does not support addons, that is why I feel I need the options to change locations of those interface elements to where I feel is better and more confortable.
In my opinion Wings of Love is not something new, because this item looks exactly like Hawk Wings, with a different dye (pink).
You can buy Hawk Wings if you desire, but I am not sure if you can change their dyes.
As for the wings. Pretty nice effect. Clearly not made for me.. but they got style regardless. Maybe next time something mechanical? Ya know.. a chopper rotorblade with an engine or something like that? Would be cool to have imo. Other then that 8\10 would use if i would be into stuff like this for sure.
Great idea. I would love to fly with a smoking chopper, or with a burning plane, or being carried by a space ship. Mechanical idea is awesome and full of imagination.
When I read what what OP wrote, this is what came to mind.
That image is murder. I can not give it enough +1. Good one.
Moving “X” button from up right to down right – would this require 1 month or 2 months of programming? I am curious if we will get this next month.
Yes. I love it. This option is such a great, long, and awesome work.
I also love the new Wings of Love glider. It looks almost the same as Hawk Wings Glider, but I am quite sure a lot of work, sweat and fatigue went into design, to change dyes and add those falling hearts effect.
Thank you again Anet. These are awesome additions, especially with Valentines day coming soon.
Conditions and CC are killing this game.
This subject is extremely sensible, and should be well thought.
Developers should remember CC killed a huge part of WoW and many many players left it for this simple reason, even if it had Diminishing Returns. In 2012 this was exactly why Anet win (WoW had huge CC by going in arena as healer just to get CC, while GuildWars2 had no healer and far less CC).
Right now they removed bunker, but added lots of healing, plus more CC. I have a feeling history will repeat itself: lots of CC and players leaving games.

No love event yet as it seems.
This is my opinion.
Feedback: this is one of the worst updates in this game because the game is still not balanced, for many reasons. I can’t even dare to think what is wrong in mechanics, concepts, CC, and so on.
Solution: give balance to players. There are competitions with prizes (such as ESL). Get those players to provide you suggestions for balancing, and implement these. Winners clearly love PvP, and would be able to provide feedback for you, especially if you pay them for it (gems, gold, money, products, whatever).
So, I am probably the only one interested in love events.
Shouldn’t there be a Love event now? In 7 days is Valentine’s Day.
I think right now we should have available season items: love outfits, love armors, and love weapons like Lovestruck, for Gem Shop and Tickets.
I also think we should have love quests, love achievements, love jumping puzzles, love boosts, and even a PvP love arena with flowers.
Possibly this is just my bad opinion, or staff do not like Valentine’s Day with love promotion, or players do not taste such content. I have no idea why this is not in game right now.
Want to play elementalist again? Well… Elementalist is not good to play at the moment.
My advice: create a character reaper, name it “Best Elementalist” (or something like that) and have fun with your Elementalist.
Enjoy.
Start from scratch? They do not have time and they do not want to.
And where does ArenaNet officialy say this game will become ESport?
Anet has absolutely no idea what is coming at them. Right now many many good thieves lay low, waiting for the next season to start (because no balance patch can be made during seasons). When that second season starts, Anet is in for a very big surprise.
After Season 2 starts, I am curious to watch a game designer face in Guild Chat on twitch.tv/guildwars2 just to see how worried they are.
I wish a lot of good luck to ArenaNet, because they will indeed need it in Season 2.
Confirmed. This is a bug. I am also experiencing same bug.
Sometimes, investments are made like this: 20% in product quality, 80% in marketing and advertising.
In my opinion, Anet should take back those money announced in prizes, to invest in design and balance.
On long term it is much better to have daily competitions for small prizes (like 2000 gems) than large competitions with thousands of dollars, and no polished product to promote.
Like I said, most people are satisfied, otherwise they would not play this game.
Think of it this way: only about 7% to 9% of players read the forums checking what is new or good to read, and from those only a small fraction is commenting or opening discussions. From this small fraction, only extremely few customers comment in PvP and profession balance (likely because they enjoy pvp).
So yeah, forums are already satisfied, because people complaining are very very few.
