Really just breakbar CC while still doing some quickness and alacrity, Chronos make too much of it so they can afford to swap an elite.

Mesmer needs an entire revamp in general. Too wonky and their skills are either “this is stupidly gamebreaking” or “so pointless to use”.

I don’t main my mesmer anymore for the sole fact that Anet has no idea what they want mesmer to do anymore. It’s permanently stationed in the mists now. No point in playing pve with mesmer since it makes no sense to spam half my skillbar to kill 1 or 2 trash mobs when I can hop on my Ele and spam staff 2 every few seconds or go to my necro and spin in one of my poison fields for 16 aoe poison stacks just with 2 skills.

There is no good power build for mesmer. Best way is to run full stealth to get the HPs while using staff 3 phantasm to do actual damage on bosses based on other people’s conditions.

I’m sorry for the bad vibes but when a solo ranger pet is doing more physical damage than a mesmer and 3 phantasms something went wrong somewhere.

My backpiece and all my armor were broken when I finally finished the guy off. If I had to guess a number then maybe 8 – 12 deaths total. How did you fare with the class with the lowest damage? Be honest please.

On a serious note blink is an auto include in everything because every other utility is just absolute garbage in the game modes that mesmer is in, only blink is ok in most game modes.

Wasn’t this the same source that leaked the April patch notes? Those were extremely accurate, accurate enough to have been leaked by someone who actually works for ANet. So if it is indeed the same source then I wouldn’t rule it out completely yet.

How do you deal with large groups of enemies as a mesmer? Simple! Play condi. Condi hits everything in the area, you apply 2 conditions that the enemy will always take full damage from and you’re not dependent on a phantasm to do damage.

And by the time your condis have killed the enemies, all other classes with a power build have already killed the next two packs.

He asked for a way to deal with mobs like pocket raptors with higher health and armour. I gave an answer that is perfectly viable but you know, eat me alive why don’t you. I’m not the one who has problems in PvE.

I haven’t tested it yet but the theories in it seem sound to me. Seems like it would kill pocket raptors real good too.

That’s not what I was asking for nor what I care about. My original question was how is mesmer supposed to survive upcoming living story episodes and manage the achievements for those episodes. You take that trash build that you linked and go redo that Egg Chamber room featuring an infinite minion spawn kill box room and clone killing aoe. There are two achievements that you have to get which states that you cannot have the shield go below 50% and you cannot die in the chamber once. Dying and letting the shield drop removes the chance at the achievements and you have to redo the entire episode again. Better yet, go ahead and take that crappy build and attempt Glint’s Lair too, which has mechanics so infuriating such as bosses don’t take any damage from phantasms. Record and post both videos here.

Same goes for you Obtena, you haven’t given me anything, yet you still blatantly lie on other class forums on how mesmer needs to be toned down. Shame.

Hold off on making a build right now, half of these forums are panicking because we have no idea how bad anet is going to screw up as usual with these balance changes.

I’m not sure why people are obsessed with the idea on wanting an offhand as a main hand. It is really irrelevant what weapon they give Mesmer because they don’t necessarily follow conventional mechanics.

When people say main hand focus all they’re talking about is dual wielding their “The Anomaly” skins which they never use that they made with their 150 gold. If that skin never existed nobody would even think of mh focus.

If Chrono’s Time Marches on trait upsets you so much, don’t you dare look up Natural Stride. Literally the exact skill word for word, except with mesmer it’s 25% more move speed and condi reduction and with druid at 33% movespeed and condi reduction.

I’m sorry if your vision only includes mesmer in its “to hate on” view range when there are other, more broken elites and skills in the game.

So here’s what’s likely to happen. Boon stacking will be nerfed such that it will be impossible for 1 mesmer + rev to maintain reliable quickness uptime. Therefor, groups will drop the rev and take 2 mesmers instead. This will have the side effect of also nerfing thief, because when both groups have permanent alacrity, thief falls behind ele/necro/non-hammer guardian for dps.

I dislike the Anet balance team as much as the next guy (probably more than the next guy), but I prefer to keep my complaints solidly within the boundaries of reality. You appear to have no such compulsion.

Tbh I’m just repeating what the reddit posters have said about guardian replacing either mesmer or revenant. You can ignore me.

I play t4 fractals every day, and in the time I’ve spent playing I’ve seen Mesmer maybe 4 or 5 times in the high tiers. In high tiers it isn’t more about dps, it’s about trying to stay alive with all the bullcrap oneshot instabilities that happen every couple seconds. With the upscaled enemies mesmer is also pushed off to the side since it cannot kill things fast enough and it cannot tank them either.

Full zerker and scholar runes to scrape a 1/3 of what Ele can do in PVE. There really isn’t any other option.

Take this with a grain of salt as usual when it comes to leaks, but it looks like Mesmer is getting an elite called the “Mirage” featuring a main hand axe.

Remember that Mesmer weapons usually do the opposite of what you think they do, for all you know the axe skills might all have ranges of 900 or more. Axe doesn’t necessarily mean a physical damage spec nor a condi other than confusion and torment spec. Elona was the confirmed place for the next expac so that will have an influence on what Anet will give us in terms of weapon skills and class mechanics.

Downed skill 2 is probably the worst downed skill in the game. You even know which one is the mesmer since the clone always gets revealed first and the player second. Always.

“Restart from checkpoint” spawns you back in the room with full health but doesn’t reset the boss mob’s HP. So that’s how I did it.

The very first time you enter the egg chamber you get a persistent effect/buff on your taskbar. Dying once in the egg chamber will remove that buff, there is no way to get it back. I’ve tried. You need that buff to get an important achievement at the end of the LS episode and to complete the achievement set for rewards. You will need to restart the entire episode again to have another chance at having the buff and staying alive.

Just to prove my point, the latest Living Season episode featured a kill room where waves upon waves of normal mobs and then a boss that spawns infinite waves until you kill it. You had to defend yourself and the object. If you died you failed the achievement and you had to replay the entire episode all over again.

How are mesmers supposed to deal with this?

Anyhow to be constructive about the whole open-world PvE thing, I’ve gone through a lot of Mesmer setups and because I tend to always spend most of my time between raids / wvw / whatever in open PvE just running around and doing events while chatting to people, here’s the setups I thought worked really really well:

• Dom / Illusions / Chrono with heavy shatter focus and zerker gear. Kills this ridiculously fast, and the constant barrage of clones running in to blow themselves up means you will most of the time auto-rally. Also like all neat PvE specs includes Master of Fragmentation for that extra reflect and the cripple on F2 if you want to run away.
• Insp / Illu / Chrono with heavy phantasm focus. Kinda annoying to play at first because phantasm-spec, but you spawn them fast enough so it’s not a big deal, especially with all the CD reductions and the free ones on dodge/block from Inspiration. The upside is that this spec cannot really get downed independent of how many mobs are streaming into a group of AFK players.
• My current one, Chaos / Illusions / Chrono, because I figured if I already have pieces with +boonduration, I might as well be a boonslinger, too. Only the inspiration part with the spreading is kinda meh (for personal survival I prefer to equip Gravity Well, anyhow), so I picked Bountiful Disillusionment instead, coupled with might on shatter and all the extra clone/phantasms from Chrono leads to a lot of boons flying around. Pretty neat, and can still run past virtually anything.

How about I take my zerker staff ele and put fire 2 on auto attack and auto target then match it off against your whatever mesmer abomination you came up with. We can do a timed trial to see how many mobs we can kill in a minute.

I’ll even take off my accessories as a handicap. Chances are you crash and burn.

How are Mesmers supposed to keep up in PvE? Already there are calls to increase the difficulty of enemies on the upcoming maps and more. Mesmers only do sustained damage on one target only, what happens when another enemy like pocket raptors are introduced with more health and armor?

How are we supposed to cope with the Living Story bosses and achievements like at the end of LS2?

I hear time and again we have the lowest personal dps but through supporting others we do the dps of 2/3/4 extra players.

So whenever I do Living Story I’m supposed to drag along with me 2-4 extra players just because I’m a Mesmer? So their dps counts as my dps? Do I see their numbers in my damage box? I suppose you think that those 20 people that you made a portal for in WvW roaming count towards your dps too? What about when you are a commander? All those people count toward your total damage?

Has 10 Mesmers in a single raid group ever been done before? Every other class has gotten the multiple class treatment for every boss and by prominent raid guilds too.

There’s a serious balancing problem at hand if Mesmer is the only class that can’t handle a 10 Mesmer raid.

Mesmer’s highest DPS is about a third of what all the other classes can do, and I’m not exaggerating. Though you might not want to rush to go play WoW just yet, they are revamping the combat mechanics to the point where everybody has 9 skills total.

Depends on what you are planning to do, but overall Chrono is in a rather good spot for open world, definitly better than Druid, Guard, Rev and War.

Ever played condi mesmer? Pistol 5 oneshots 5 mordrem…. just make sure the menders and together, use it, and watch everything vaguely close die instantly…

The Exalted Trial took me 4 tries alone because I couldn’t kill the dragon minons fast enough. In full zerker gear.
