i love my backpack on my engineer
they know i am about to camp them for 1month
and they know i am packin heat
and they don’t know what type of heat we’re packing.
How useless are engineers underwater now?
Did they at least stealth buff the harpoon gun auto attack to fire more than once every 5 seconds?
just a worthless as everyone else.
Only worthless if you aren’t using it right. To be honest – most people just don’t know how to fight under water. They forget they are now fighting in a 3d area instead of 2d. (you can go up/down in water, but you can’t just fly or go below ground).
My asura engineer doesn’t look bad. Alot of it is finding dyes that match the appearance you want. Most of the gear I’m wearing at level 80 is actually low level gear you encounter early on in the game. It actually fit my engineer pretty well with the backpack as an “adventurer type”
I would equip toolkit for WvW just for this sole purpose. Personally, I think It just makes SENSE to be able to do that. we already whack at the turrets, why not siege equipment? It will make a difference in battles yes – but not that much if siege is targeted by another siege. Especially considering alot of them deal heavy damage which can usually outright kill an engineer.
Could they at least get the traits working properly? Nobody can really say which classes need boosting until the traits work right.
yeah I agree. Be nice if the traits worked, was merely commenting on the mortar etc.
Not surprised – any chance to the engineer class other than fixing bugs needs far more extensive testing than other classes. it comes with the territory of being jack of all trades.
The flexibility of the class is what draws me in. The class centered around not what weapon you use, but your utility skills is refreshing in my opinion. I enjoy the fact that I Get to throw grenades, plant bombs or light things on fire with the flame thrower kit.
the class WAS the one thing that made me purchase guild wars 2 hands down. If It wasn’t for this class – I wouldn’t be playing guild wars 2 at all.
Facebook is cleverly programmed but at the same time, it’s much like Vista. As a programmer, it needs an hacksaw taken to it. I avoid it like the plague as well.
thats harsh lol, vista wasn’t that bad. far better than people think, it got a bad rep because it was a hungry little swine and companies like dell/hp/compaq the list goes on sold them with insufficent hardware to do the job and thats their fault as they were told a long time before what the requirements were.
those that had at the time overpowered computers didn’t have any issues with vista, ran it for 5 years and not a single crash that i didn’t cause of my own stupidity.
No the problem of why vista was horrible was it’s complete lack of user control over security programs (UAC for example), it pinned you with bloatware kitten you didn’t want, and the companies like Dell and HP had to put it on machines that were low end because that’s what customers could afford. Microsoft made a product that was about 6 years too advance pretty much. Microsoft made the mistake – not the computer companies.
Also when most IT companies tosses your product out the window – you know it was kitten.

A few weeks ago a friend asked me to help him out around the starter level. We played quite a bit, the whole morning from level 5-20ish.
Now I wanted him to have the full experience, so we did story, DEs, a bit of crafting and I showed him around. Now, he was teleporting about and I followed. For him it was less than 10c to do so, while for me it was over a silver.
I actually made quite a loss that morning. The scraps sold for few coppers and the rest of the drops were bad. I didn’t find anything useful, or worth selling, so I salvaged most so I could level crafting a bit. I maybe died here and there when I got kitteny and an veteran with too many adds got me, or a huge boss battle, but my repairs weren’t a lot. The waypoints got me, and all in all I lost over 50s.
I’ve never helped a low level character after that.
It’s understandable but to be honest… why did you way-point everywhere? Level 1 thru 20 on my alts I barely use way-points except to divinity’s reach for a number of times. You waypointed at least 25-35 times during that time. I dunno what area you are in – but that’s an fair guess at the number of times. My suggestion if running with a lowbie – plan out your trip a bit more carefully next time. you already been thru the zone – if I’m leveling with a lowbie for example in queensdale, I know exactly what hearts to hit in what order and what waypoints are worth taking and when.
I agree the waypoint cost fee is a tad too high in lower zones sometimes. But you can’t be waypoint happy either. Waypointing is a waste of your money if it’s only 1-3 minutes of travel time.
I find I spend MORE money in zones that are my level. When you go to a lower level zone you are more powerful if you drop levels down, as opposed to actually being that level, that lets me zerg more stuff, pull multiple mobs, die much much less with less if any repair costs. Travel costs still stink, but that’s something I’ll never understand. It is nice to be able to solo champions and such in lower level zones and not have to worry about other players being on when you can solo a DE.
I do agree though that the rewards need to be looked at.
You’ve just proven that the downscaling system doesn’t work…
the down scaling system works… it’s meant for you to help a friend along who is leveling. Plain and simple.
and I say it’s meant for a max level player to go out in the world. Your guess is as good as mine…
If you’re helping your friend by being too strong, you’re boosting him.
That’s not what they advertised.
The only way to be truely level 20 for example would be the removal of extra traits or whatever and elite skills. Yes it puts you slightly above par the zone level.
Also it wasn’t a guess. It was stated during the beta weekends by the devs that was one of the purposes of downscaling was so that you didn’t have to level up an alt if you didn’t want to help a friend. Citing that one or two shooting everything wasn’t fun for you or your friend.
well ironically, the bots will eventually have greater control of the market – the more players leave. It’s a numbers game. The more players leave and don’t’ come back, the larger the ratio between bots and players get (only a Example: 1 bot : 20 players to 1 bot : 5 players). Eventually you’ll get to a point where bots will be able to manipulate the market. Are they doing it now? I would say in limited areas they are but not the entire TP.

I’m an engineer, so I’m curious … why do you not like kits?
+1
OP, you had all the sympathy you needed after saying that. The elementalist just can’t handle Orr very easily and it ends up costing far more than you will ever earn.Uhm, what?
I’m an ele and I don’t really have any issues in Orr. That is, no more than everyone else.
I’ve gone through pretty much every area solo without issues. Except the maze. kitten that maze.
kitten that maze indeed. I ended up getting 10 people on map chat and we burned to the heart of that maze like a wildfire. Kitten that maze. It’s not even soloable by most players.
Whatever is fun for you. :P
I Approve of those ideas. Race events could be cool.
Engineer is all about field control. You kill quickly so long as you have the “imitative” on the battlefield. That’s things like knockdown, cripples etc. So long as you controlling the enemy in some way – your going to be on top… usually.
O_o i honestly don’t know what to say. I only thought the insane respawn rate was a problem in Orr.
I agree to a point classes are usually picked – but really, your favorite class and the play-style you use determines the personality of the player. My engineer for example is all about control and keeping at range. As well as burning things and explosions. lots of burns. Lots of Explosives.
I always use plan C4 first.
To be honest, if your officers or yourself get hacked, I suggest looking at less… ladies and using a strong and unique password for guild wars 2. Then using a strong and unique password for your email account. Then… not opening suspicious emails. Most times – people are just morons and have only one password for everything. To be honest, most times – it’s the officers fault they got hacked/scammed/phished. Plain and Simple.
If a game has done well it’s simple to calculate it out.
Is it making profit after paying all expenses? Yes or No. If yes, then the game is successful. End of story. That’s literally all there is to IT. If the game is MAKING a profit for the developer – then the game is a SUCCESS. Who gives a rats kitten about how many subs or players another game has. As far as Investors go – they want to make sure there is a profit happening. That’s it. If there is profit and continues to profit – the game is successful.
everything else is extra fluff and icing on the cake.
honestly… waypoints don’t cost that much. Your in much bigger trouble if you can’t pay for waypoints… it’s fairly easy to get money in this game. Shouldn’t even be a issue.
Hatefully punishing?
Seriously???
Death penalty in this game is pathetically weak. I take that back, there is NO death penalty in this game. This isn’t EQ, or even DAoC where you could lose entire LEVELS if you died. Where one death could wipe out hours and hours of grinding XP. Oh, and lets not forget that in those games, going solo really wasn’t an option. I don’t think you have a clue what “hatefully punishing” death penalties even are.
This has to be one of the silliest posts Ive seen today.
agreed. there isn’t really a death penalty to speak of that is worthy of note.
The downranking system does make levels feel less rewarding, IMHO. Part of the appeal of gaining levels is feeling more powerful, but the system is kinda badly designed and a lot of people feel LESS powerful in a level 20 zone at level 80 than they did when they were ACTUALLY level 20.
honestly, I think the problem is that the mobs are in fact too easy that you over think and mess up. Example: They did a study on pilots who learned via procedures and those are naturally learned. When told to focus on procedures or naturally learned (the opposite) the pilots would make more mistakes.
Also the scaling down is so that you can keep your level 80 and help a friend level up without rolling an alt. Honestly, I like the system, as I have convinced some friends to join so I can keep my level 80 engineer and play that without using an alt if I want. I certainly don’t want to 1 or 2 shot something.
mursaat? my mind is blanking on it.

Well, Arenanet really drives people to the gold sellers because
a) EVERYTHING costs tons of money in this game + it’s hard to earn money regularily
b) the gold sellers sell at a MUCH better rate than Arenanetyep agree this is it right here
Possibly another thing they could do is make the currency rates equal to the same amount of gems. I know for example, people using Euro’s pay more than American Dollars for example. That would probably help as well. Even if the currency does change a bit, it wouldn’t hurt their business too much. IF anything – it would increase the sale of gems.
i say it again. its anets OWN fault for making endgame things so heavly based on ingame currency e.g. legrinderys.
anet MADE the market by themselfs. you cant win aganist these guys other games already proved that. you can only lessen thier influence on the game by making gold less useful entirely. thats the only thing anet can change. we will see if they will. otherwise goldbuyers win again.
look at lotro or aoc for example. they both have gold aswell as ingame curreny. but in the endgame large amounts of gold barely matter. all you need can be farmed by yourself without to much effort.
not the same in gw 2 with the current endgame.change it. untie it from absurd gold amounts and you will see these guys lose influence. if players see they can make the needed amount of gold easily you eleminate the buying big time. people buy because it helps them save ABSURD amounts of mindless and boring farming.
face it guys. its ANETs OWN mistake to design endgame like legrinderys like this.
any endgame acitivity thats so much based on ingame curreny is FOOD for this market.nuff said.
so your suggestion is an last resort solution?
Because people refuse to listen to common sense. A 96 hour long DR? Get real.
I understand “bad luck” but a lot of farmers like myself have not received even close to the amount of rares I normally receive. As an example my brother and I just finished about an hour of The Cursed Shore farming karma. The end results…
Him: 6 rares
Me: 0 raresNow I have over 100% magic find and he has 0… yet we both had 8 hours of nothing in between since our last farm (he does not farm even close to as much as I) yet this has been going on for DAYS. Unlucky streak? I think not.
ergo.. you probably should take off the magic find gear. If your getting screwed and he’s not – then you copy him.
Hinders them a bit. Since you’d have to look fairly hard to find items not listed on the TP that are in abundance. Ready enough anyway to sell. If they went the route of providing the item to the player to repost, then either that person is losing 15% of what they just paid for, or the sellers are eating an additional 15% cost. You’d also have to have the money in the first place to place the sell order, which may be prohibitive for the buyers.
Then the gold sellers just need to get some of the item and mail one to the customer, telling the customer to then sell it back to them for 100g.
It means the gold sellers lose out on tax, but it won’t stop them or cause them any real problems.
:edit:
All it would likely do is change how much gold you get per dollar.
That’s probably the driving point behind the whole idea. Make it more costly for the Gold sellers to do business in the first place. Make it costly enough… then players will just buy gems.
I got a little bit more than 100g currently with just farming events and dungeons. Its possible. No trading or exploiting since I hate those kind of people.
You “hate” people who trade? o.O
I guess, he just wanted to emphasis the “exploiting” part but a little grammar problem. Just an honest mistake…
Its not a mistake. Traders add no value to the economy since we have a trading post accessable from anywhere. Traders do no creation of value in this game. All they do is making stuff more expensive for people who want the item for personal use.
Its not like in real life where traders make life easier for you, eg. getting milk from the farmer to your local store. No they just buy up what they deem being to low and sell for higher.
Traders are by nature, at the whim of the masses. If the common people do not want to buy something at a certain price – the price will drop until people start buying again. Traders have always been at the whim and will of the masses. Always. Sure, you may 1 uber rare item and put it up for 200,000 gold. Ya think anyone is going to buy it? Nope. Extreme example – yes. But everything is related to supply/demand. If the supply cost is too high, the demand will shrink and thus profits go down.
it honestly depends on the person I think. some people don’t mind grouping and if I get pinged a group invite for an heart or area I’m doing – I’ll join in a heart beat – pun intended.
Remove the ability to trade in-game currency via mail, most of the problem solved.
ironically…. that’s a solution.. that could actually be put on a table. Not like you need to transfer gold or silver much in-game anyway… Wouldn’t even need much DR at that point and people would start actually making gold/resources. It would certainly hamper gold sellers as they revert to guild banks in order to do transactions… which would be more feasible to track… maybe.
I say this because it could become more feasible to track guild banks rather than individual player accounts.

Honestly, it’s not a surprise that the OP facerolled. Ironically, the gaming community has been getting and better at video games over the years, so the curve needed in order to please the medium core gamers keeps on rising for toughness. Games where simple health/damage don’t really cut it anymore – so it comes to coming up with unique tough mechanics in order to succeed.
Confusion. What area is this?
A morphing class like a Druid might be fun. You learn from pets in the wild, and when you morph to them, you get to learn their 5 moves. Learn as many as you want, load up 4 at a time, sort of like the Elementalist elements.
Seems like the mechanics are there.
Or rather than a Druid, make it a Doppleganger where you become other humanoids with abilities? Thinking out loud
If they had that druid class i would pounce on that in NO time, no time at all!! However, it doesn’t really fit the GW universe (ATM) however, it’s possible we may discover an unknown race, or a distant land and learn that they have people that have been doing it for years!!
PS: I would prefer a doppleganger type thing where you can transform into your target and the such as well as the animals
Don’t the norn shapeshift like crazy? Doesn’t seem too farfetch for me. Heck, it would at least be an interesting class.
btw, prices fluculate, so the gloves that probably up there…. were made when stuff was cheaper to purchase and was “actually” garnering a profit.
She appears in the storyline for dungeons and Asura Personal Story.
Is there any way to see this character without being an Asura? (I’m Norn)
Dungeons. CoE for example. (Going after an guy who is abusing her mentor’s inventions)

Ah the rebellous youth! Not following instructions. :P (Just poking fun)
1. Were you satisfied with the Guild Wars 2 launch and your first week of play?
yes
2. As of today, do you think ArenaNet has done a good job of taking care of bugs, communicating with their customer base and making most players happy?
yes
3. Are you still recommending Guild Wars 2 to friends?
yes
4. If no new content has been released will you still be playing Guild Wars 2 six months from now?
yes
5. Overall would you say Guild Wars 2 delivers as the game you envisioned it to be?
yes
Sadly, companies are sue happy when concerned about names. They are indeed copyrighted with attached with a franchise. The terms are a broad to ensure that it properly protects Anet.
… how does an asura get a charrzooka in the first place?
Basically, when you look at our rifles you need to understand that we don’t actually have rifles as a weapon option. Yea, we use the rifle skins but at the end of the day? We have combat shotguns. They were just too lazy to implement an entirely new weapon class just for us, so they called it “rifle” and that was that.
Just an question… why introduce a new weapon which only one class can use when you can just combine the rifle and shotgun into one weapon? Makes no sense loot wise. Engineer from the top – down is pretty much a close -range to medium range skimirisher. We are not longer distance damage dealers. It sucks, but that’s just how it is.
Honestly, I used to hate the rifle as well… it grew on me as time went on. I came to realize just how much control it gave me to the point where pistol/shield wasn’t enough for my needs.
I’m sure people love monks and all…. but can we stay away from Kodan’s and Monk for a while. I really want to avoid the crap we GW2 players will hear.. about GW2 copying Mists of PokePandas.
As for classes….
I would really love to see….
I’m not quite sure… a ritualist is very close to the necromancer or elementalist imo. Unless they got different classes mechanics….
And ergo there’s goes my thought process… maybe we should think up of class mechanics instead of actual classes?
Need to ponder a bit more… but I think class mechanics we would like to see would be better than “classes”.

People who don’t use Asura home city or divinity reach are crazy. The bank and the TP person is literally NEXT to each other. A mere 15-25ft distance. I believe it’s even shorter than divinity’s reach banker/TP in Rata.
I don’t understand why people use lion’s arch. The distance between the TP And bank is so huge to compare with. Hub city? Sure. Hub city if your heavy into banking and TP? Heck no.
