FOV on 3 monitors Demonstration

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mueh…. I just have dual 24" monitors I use at the same time. Though I never had a problem with the FOV in video games. I always adjusted it to my liking – never having a problem with it. Shrugs Guess I’m the lucky few I guess.

I haven’t had any signiciant issues with FOV period with this game, even on one monitor. So I’m curious as to what percisely is the problem?

As for 3d vision or whatever crap… I don’t use it. Perhaps it’s practice – tho I do know GW2 has crazy measurements in the game in terms of distance. The distance between two objects is incredible skrewed. I haven’t had a issue with it screwing with my gameplay. I’m kindof curious as to what people are having problems with.

Why is there no stealth detection?

At least this works wonders in PvE when mobs go invisible.

Your an engineer OP? You do have an anti-stealth scanner. It’s called Grenades. Spam grenades everywhere around you – watch the lulz happen. I’ve done it quite a few times to see theives freak out and return to waypoint wondering how I knew where they were. I didn’t… just took a educated guess and spammed the area around me and where I think the thief is. Considering the closer he is to you – the harder it is for him to dodge (as well as take up his stealth timer) – the more advantage you have. Flame throwers #1 skill works great as well against stealth enemies once you find them.

If zoning resets this then why even have this system in place? It’s confusing.

Weapon swapping?

in Engineer

AndrewWaltfeld.4621

And once again you are arguing that unless everyone plays this one certain way they have no right to complain. There was never anything said that when playing an engineer KITS are your bread and butter and its fail not use them. An engineers best burst is built around no kits at all.
You also seem to think that by some miracle Anet are the first Devs to create an mmo tht is absolutly perfect right out the gate, without any flaws, glitches, exploits, broken mechanics or imbalances. That everything is working exactly as they intended it to be.
In which case I think you are spending to much time in forums and not enough time actually playing.
—-
It’s not entirely difficult to equip one kit. It’s still your choice to run without kits You are designing your character to run without kits. I have seen engineers run with gadgets and an variety of other builds (and be successful), but the vast majority uses at least one weapon kit.

The engineer is far from perfect but changing the engineer on such a extremely fundamental level of how the profession was designed goes against the profession core concepts. Plain and Simple. You would literally have to re balance the entire class.

Besides with the toolkit skills, you have three extra F1-F4 abilities that a lot of other classes do not have like warrior, thief etc. Not to mention flexibility in aces by the simple change of our skill slots.

edit – Yes. The developers have STATED multiple times that the kits are meant to replace our weapon swap ability. They are the almost equal to a secondary weapon. During the Beta Weekends, people questioned and asked the developers about the weapon slots as well. This is the classes special ability or trick much like the thief’s steal etc. Whether or not you use them is a choice you made. They can be bread and butter if you wish, or you can build your engineer without them, that’s entirely up to you.

Weapon swapping?

“Also, if Engineer’s did have a wep swap… what on earth would have been the point in all of the kits? Don’t say “oh bcus we are an engineer YALL”. Absolutely stunned how people think they are the developers. Actually if they add Wep-kit they should rename the profession something else… because it’s no longer an engineer.”

All your arguments imply that to play an engineer your HAVE to play with kits. If you play with just elixirs, gadgets or turrets you now have no secondary weapon.

And really turrets are what make us engineers, our kits are more like a demolionist or something and are gadgets are like a 12yr old asian kid looking for one-eyed willy.

I agree with you about Kits being very awesome and being able to switch them around so quick is a sweet tactic for Engineers but it shouldn’t be mandatory to carry a kit to get close to the same amount of skill options as other classes

However that is a choice you made with the class. Engineer play styles are determined by our utility skills we choose. The engineer classes is all about those three skill slots and the elite. It’s a choice you made when you have your build.

Besides even if you had weapon slot… what would you switch to? Our only OTHER weapon? Rifle AND Pistol + whatever? Sorry. I rather have my kits not have cool-downs. Adding a weapon slot and ergo – a cool down would fundamentally change the entire way the engineer class plays for majority of the builds.

If so – I agree. I just don’t want to see bigger and bigger weapons much like WoW. I absolutely hated the “bigger” armor or what have you as the tiers went. It went from somewhat cool designs to absurd that your character would topple over from it or at least stab themselves multiple times just by moving.

I just kindof hate that mentality of “bigger is better” I guess.

Those that say the game is fine and have not seen any zone breaking bugs, have either been extremely lucky or are just denying having seen them because they are unwilling to admit there are problems.

I have 1 lvl 80 char, currently on my second char now at 38 and a lvl 26.

I have yet to see a single zone past lvl 25 that does not have either one or multiple stuck events that does not progress, or skillpoints that cannot be done due to NPCs dont spawn and cannot be interacted with.

And most of these are the same skill points and events that was bugged when I leveled my first char, and seem to be stuck in the very same place they were the first time I passed them.

it’s probably down to server issues rather than actual game issues I would think if we’re getting this much variety of reports.

I actually did encounter two bugged DE’s earlier – both escort quests in the 15-27 human area after queensdale.

This was something i was thinking the other day. If i was to build my necro into a melle range fighter with lifesteals going for a sort of “shadow knight/death knight” what have you style…it would make sense for me to want to equip some heavy armor.

If i was to want to sit back and play healer with a staff on my gaurdian…perhaps i felt cloth might be my favor. Simply put, i dont like the cosmetic limitations particularly considering i dont see any balance to it.

I can see everyone’s point in this thread in their arguments which are all equally valid. I wouldn’t mind if you could mismatch armors but the question is not whether it’s good for the player-base – but how much WORK would be involved in doing so? It could simply be far easier to allow “skins” so to speak of different armors to be used and mismatch to fit. But still have the professions use light/medium/heavy stats.

It would simply be a modification of the transmutation stone I think would be the easiest solution if people REALLY want to go this route. To be honest, I rather just have the looks rather than the stats. I believe the stat differences between light and heavy is marginal enough that overall – it makes no difference what so ever virtually that I see little reason to homogenize the stats together.

Erm, lemme step in here for a minute. I’ve been playing a new character, and I can say with absolute certainty that I’ve come across more bugged/stalled DEs than working ones from level 1-40. Also 5-6 bugged skillpoints or other objectives that worked fine my first time through, which have me sitting at 98% completion on literally half the zones I’ve cleared on that char.

I’m not going to say that it’s unreasonable to have a bug or glitch here and there on release, but I feel like I paid $60 for a beta test. Now surely the OP could have expressed himself in a more civil manner and whatnot, but when I see hordes of people coming into topics like this flaming the tar out of anyone who dares to mention that the game’s got a lot of broken content… I’m half-tempted to say “fine, have it your way, game’s fine as it is. Leave it all broken, these guys seem to love it well enough.”

I guess it’s a matter of perception… For many people, we didn’t run into many bugged content except an DE Here, or skill-point there. Which later got fixed. I probably went overboard in my response most likely, but I find it hard to believe with my alt’s been leveling up and my level 80 that most of the game is bugged. At least on my end – I haven’t encountered many bugs except some skill-points which got fixed a week later.

I doubt they were fixed a week later. The servers probably got reset and you got there before they were broken again.

Um no. Until they did the weekly patch – the skill-points were not fixed. I checked after every server reset – no dice. Ironically, I wasn’t able to login directly after the patch was up – so I ended up logging in late afternoon to check and all the skill-points had been fixed. It’s not very far-fetch to believe.

Example of one is in the pic attached.

See, this is what I can see happening inside a “raid.” Does anyone remember in GW1 Prophecies that one mission that required two teams to meet in the middle? I would stand behind that, and at the end have a 10 man boss that requires a lot of coordination.

I’m against gear progression as well. I was promised zero gear progression past a certain point and that’s my main draw to GW2. If I have exotics at level 80, I do not want to grind a raid to get a set of another exotics that are statistically better.

agreed. I hate gear grind as well. I can see them doing interesting things with an 10 man party mechanic but to be honest that would require additional coding and development time. Even if they start now, I wouldn’t expect to see anything for at least half a year.
