Its like the old short bow tick where you never brake stealth any application of effect should brake stealth. Ghost thfs are bad for pvp and wvw you can even keep ppl in-combat forever unless that person lets the thf kill them. Stealth is to passive and has too few counters.

Stealth and Passive don’t actually mix, the Thief has to Actively maintain Stealth by using Skills or be removed from stealth. I think you mean Condi are very passive since all you have to do is apply them and sit back a let them tick, which a lot of classes have better access to Condi Spam and can run around passively letting the applied Condis tick. Not to mention that the Ghost Thief has very low Mobility and can be kited extremely easily since it has to maintain its Stealth.

Its passive in the view of a fight even if the thf has to keep hitting buttons to keep it up dose not make it active at all. Stealth keeps fights going on much longer then they should and often is a passive way of applying effects.
There are very active condi in the game most of them are only the stealth ghost thf with traps and catraps would be passive application in a fight.
Short bow is the only thing you need for mobility on the thf class do you think other classes have ports on that low of a cd? Have you even played a non stealth class?

If dmg brake stealth condi application should to. There is a clear problem in the game when one type of dmg is treated differently then others. This IS a major oversight and will always keep condi dmg above that of power dmg.

If Anet feel Choking Gas should brake stealth even though it was never a high condi dmg effect why should caltrps and traps with major condi dmg not break stealth too?

I say add dmg to all condi application effects this would fix the problem with out needing to changes stealth at all.

Look at all the other traps in the game they mostly do low dmg in an apparent way to keep them from being stealth though runes because though classes would become OP if they too could perma stealth. Why should thf traps be free of this when the thf class can already be perma stealth? Its a double stander and NEEDS to be fixed.

I dare you try and maintain Perma Stealth and use SB to chase someone, go ahead try record it and post the unedited video.

Invulns/passive sustain traits/skills all prolong fights more so than they should, you never complain about those.

All Condi damage doesn’t remove stealth on all classes, the Devs made sure Thief Traps no longer had the Physical Damage on them so they do not reveal Thieves go read the patch notes they state as such on every single mention of traps.

Those two other classes don’t rely on stealth as a main mechanic while Thief does so comparing their traps and stealth acces is a very moot point.

Again this Build should be removed from game because elf the principal of what it does not because it is OP because all proof shows otherwise, but some players don’t understand what actually goes into playing this build you think it has access to everything a normal Thief build does on top of the permastealth and “Condi Spam”. It is a very low mobility/low damage build that is only used for Trolling and kill incompetent players.

Your way of describing this builds reminds of all the 30/30/30/30 Thief builds back in the day that could " do everything".

I’m guessing that most people who complain about the build haven’t experimented with it and are just regurgitating what they heard others say in other threads about thieves in general. I concur with your statement, I would love to see the video with this exact build and see how “easy” it is to land the traps on a moving target in a group of people where you have to maintain your stealth without getting revealed.

This post had very little to do with the build. It had to do with reporting people for not knowing counters to the build and considering it hacking.

I love the people stating I should uninstall because of this build. Let me be clear, again, those who whine about a build are wasting energy they could be using to counter it. If you are too lazy to follow release notes and think another person should be punished for your inability to change, then maybe it is you that is the problem in the game and not them.

I’m not saying people are bad or good, their personal KDR would reflect that. That is for them to change. The next time someone says that someone else is hacking though, people shouldn’t jump the gun and just report because a bunch of baddies got killed and were to lazy to look at the possibilities of the build.

I saw a group of HoD cata’ing SMC, I stealth up and go drop traps and caltrops on them rinse and repeat until a good portion of them died because they didn’t condition clear, did they use reveal skills, nor did they use CC that would have messed up my stealth timing that would have meant instant death to me.

I do not have condition clear on my build, i can’t have the hard to catch trait nor the shadow’s embrace or I lose a bunch of my stealth or a bunch of my damage.

One of them, ONE, messaged me and asked me about my build and went on to tell me that they, the whole HoD zerg, had just reported me because they don’t know how the class works. I added that one guy to my friends list because I like people who ask before doing things and take time to NOT grief other players by abusing the report option.

When I play on my other account in T2, there are plenty of players that know how to counter the build. Props to all the other people that know how to play the game and find counter builds instead of just having the “I’m not bad, so they must be hacking.” mentality.

Whether you like the build I use or hate it, it is WRONG to falsely report people and encourage other people to do so just because you don’t have the time to learn a class and figure out the counter.

First stab and resist make a lot skills useless. If someone gets knocked back while stab is on, it does nothing(in some cases no damage if the skill doesn’t have dmg).

In small group fights 5-10, not too bad of a thing but, when a server as a whole runs boonshare… You hit a bit of a problem because some servers are just more populated and/or coordinated because they do not depend on a link/links.

Maybe have stab turn hard cc into soft cc(cripple) when knocked back floated… etc… Instead of nothing…

Second we come to Resist. Turn it into a buff like stealth therefore it isn’t shared with boonshare and isn’t affected with boon duration foods, armor, etc…

Something like Poison removes Regen, cripple removes swift, Chill removes quickness and stab already works this way with stack removal.

This way someone with Stab hits a line of warding, they get cripple but because they have swift, it just removes their swift. If they do not have stab they get knocked down and if they don’t have swift they keep the cripple.

These are only suggestions that I was thinking of. If there are good parts point them out and if there are bad, discuss and add your own ideas because the current meta is garbage. I remember when they had in the notes about 100% vigor up-time being a problem and now we are here…

It is hard to time a 60s/45s/30s while in the middle of a heated battle and some times, that proc can be the only thing that saves you. it would be nice to see a visual on the gui. Weapon rune counter off to the side of the weapon swap and times above the healing/elite skills for traits/rune procs.

Thoughts?

I don’t see people quit over the score, I see people quit when they get bobbed down in 10v40. The scoring changes will not balance that. Managing a floating queue to keep close to even numbers on the maps of the 3 servers would be the best option.

Someone want to log into EBG on server 1 and their were already 50 people in EBG.
MapQueue = ((TotalMatchPeopleLoggedIn / ( servers + maps)) + offset. we will say the offset is 20.

Server 1 has 90 across all maps
Server 2 has 40 across all maps
Server 3 has 80 across all maps
MapQueue = (210/(number of servers + number of maps))
MapQueue = (210/7) + offset
MapQueue = 30+20
MapQueue = 50

The would be in the first spot in queue to join when someone left.

So the other two servers would stand a chance with map hopping because the other two servers would be forced to spread out their populations to the other maps in real-time because they would be forced to do so via map queue. Thus bandwagon servers would be punished and it would help the other two servers.

I still like the idea of doing currently logged in averages of the match up between the 3 teams and maps then applying an offset to determine real-time per map queue. It is the really the only way to achieve a balance at all time-frames and punish the people who over-stack servers.

Get rid of the linking and implement this so the lower tiers can have their small tier fights. Heck give the lowest tier maps for smaller scale fights. Only implement it in NA to try it out.

Speaking of other threads… Did you happen to see the one about “WvW is dead”? The Alliance and how BG stacked from the beginning and how SoR stacked… JQ was stacked and YB got stacked into T1. Then the alt accounts. They left their friends and community anyway.

That ruins guilds and comminities more than this would.

Sounds good to me. I would be ok with some per match-up balancing. Might actually spread out the SEA and OCX from being stacked on 1/3 of the servers in most of the tiers.

DBL/WvW Change Suggestions

On the running to locations portion, extending the tower’s walls would give a safe haven for roamers for a portion of the walk to the west/east keeps as well.

On the Commander portion, give credit to those who have 20+ people in their squad or the only tag on map tie it into the reward track so they have to do something as well. That would give them incentive to get more people to come with them and do something.

I agree with the portion about the north towers, that is why they need a purpose first and then the surroundings of them could be worked out. I still feel they need extended and yes, i love the cliff for net on ABL to get to the nec and to push people off in fights.

I also agree with the “automatic” gimmicks. I feel that the air turrets should be manned at a control panel for the defender to use and make them destructible but, have high hp or yes, get rid of them. Because if it is a person doing it, you can get revenge but, if it is the game doing it, then you just get mad at the game.

DBL/WvW Change Suggestions

I would like to see some more changes to the DBL when they comeback.

Extending the towers walls, all four of them, so they can hit other objectives. Like north towers in the ABL could hit garrison. The south west tower could hit bay.

Adding the Blood lust into the oasis to have something familar. Clear out everything from Oasis and have it be open with 5 capture points (Blood Lust in Oasis) to encourage multiple group fights over the open area. Very few obstacles.

Having a route out of spawn directly into north camp. On ABL, the rush to save north camp was one of the great things. Also, this would help people rush to Earth keep for saves. Those rushes were also amazing because a mesmer could port you from spawn to Garrison when the wp was down in ABL. I would love to see this in DBL.

The only other thing I can think of would be the lack of people tagging up to command on some servers. If there isn’t a commander, sometimes people just log off. Add some really good incentive for people to tag up. Like Commander Armor/Weapons where you get an achievement for commanding and have a specific track line for tagging while outnumbered on a map. A comeback track line for servers that are currently in 3rd place to create incentive when a server is in 3rd place to not give up.

Would love to hear peoples comments on these suggestions. I have a feeling that DBL will not be leaving completely, so, we might as well give something back to help make them better for everyone. Some people liked them, I loved the last changes to them and wish I could have gotten more time to explore that more but, the majority did want ABL back and I enjoy seeing them as well as the people on the BLs returning.

They also upped the amount of coin that you get from wvw as well. I think yesterday I made 30g from wvw. You can also get drops as far as ascended items, I got two, one was my weapon and other was my chest piece. one per week from my rank up chests.

You can do wvw and get your masteries using the wvw chests. There are proofs of heroics that you get and can turn in for points toward your elite specs..

Would it be feasible to make a zone like WvW and sPvP combined that has an effect on WvW PPT? 5 v 5 arena with no one to disturb the mini battle. This would give the smaller population servers somewhere to fight and not get steam rolled by zerg servers.

Thinking of coming back. How is WvWvW now?

If we are in a group of 5 ,and one of our party members puts a field down and another party member does the finisher but other people not in our party are in the field. Do we take priority in the game to get those field effects?
