In order to make playing all of our unique dungeons more rewarding, we’ll give you a bonus gold reward for each dungeon path you complete each day. Coins will be removed from the current bosses (replaced by the champion reward box listed above) to coincide with this bonus payout for completing each path. Completion rewards will be guaranteed, and we’ll vary the amount of gold earned based on difficulty and length of each dungeon path.
To encourage players to participate in a wider array of dungeon content, we’ve designed the system so if you complete the same dungeon path twice in one day, you’ll receive the normal reward for completion, but won’t receive the bonus gold reward again during that day.
I’m not really sure why ANet has such a kitten for Guardians, but seriously… it’s time to reign this stuff in a bit, or bring the other professions up to the same level. Spectral Wall, Temporal Curtain, Toss Elixir U, etc… These need to be taller. Doing so, would fix a lot of the problems that Guardians don’t have with their wall.
You don’t understand. I’m not changing my mind about the look. I had the Sclerite look transmuted onto the Fractal backpiece. I didn’t want to make it ascended, but now I do. So if I put it in the forge ot make it ascended, I lose the look of the Sclerite.
The Sclerite back piece is soulbound now, and is no longer account bound.
Lastly, I don’t agree with an appearance tab since the most stylish clothes would rule the market and eventually dwindle down the uglier gear.
That doesn’t make any sense at all.
So I would need to spend double lol. That sucks.
For how much focus is put on aesthetic items, it is terrible to have the system setup the way ArenaNet does.
You can look at DC Universe Online to see how awesome an appearance tab can be. They list every slot, and when clicked, it slides open to reveal all the skins you can apply to that specific armour.
I am currently in a bit of a predicament where I have the Sclerite Karka Shell look transmuted onto the Fractals Back Piece. Now should I really be punished for changing my mind, and now wanting to make it ascended? I don’t think so.
I understand the desire for ArenaNet to maintain the Transmutation Crystals as a store item. I don’t blame them for that. What I propose, is to keep them, but alter their functionality.
They can be used as special salvage items. They salvage the aesthetic of the armour/weapon, and add it to the list in the appearance tab. This destroys the item, and you don’t receive any runes/sigils, or crafting mats. It can be character bound, and not account bound, like dyes.
This ensures that Transmutation Crystals/Stones are still used. This would also free up bank space which is limited by ArenaNet (denying themselves money for some odd reason).
The main point here is… I shouldn’t have to destroy an item that I worked for, or be forced to buy it again simply because my preference has changed.
Wait until you infuse it. If you apply the skin now, then infuse it later, it will revert to an “Infused Book of Secrets”, thereby destroying your Shattered Dragon Wings skin.
Is there a way around this? I would like to make my back piece ascended, but I don’t want to lose my tentacles.
A Race change kit should be put into the Gem store. Just have it reset the personal story. And if you have completed it certain parts, you don’t get double rewards.
Aesthetics is supposed to be a huge part in this game. And you can’t possibly know what a specific race/gender comp will look like with higher level gear, and gear that is yet to be released. For example, I loved leveling my Sylvari Necro. But the high level armour looks ridiculous, and the Hentai Back Piece looks too silly while running. But it looks awesome on my Norn, or Charr.
And for those that say you “don’t experience what it’s like to be that race”. Sorry, but no. You’re wrong. You’re completely ignoring the fact that a lot of people have multiple high level toons. And resetting the personal story would “fix” this anyway. It is ridiculous for a “next gen MMO” to not have this feature.
So yes. +1 to Race Change.

Leave it as is. Having some events failing is part of the fun. What the hell is the point of these events if they don’t fail?
I want to see The Shatterer completely decimate a group, and then progress to take over the entire map unless people band together to stop him. I want to login one day and be told in guild chat that the entire map is lost and we should help try to take it back.
That’s what Orr was like orginally, and see what happened, everybody hated it. Or did you ever try to get to the Grenth karma vendor lately? It’s almost permanently closed on all servers.
People hated it because it was only Risen, and the anti-farm algorithm kicked in too soon. Those areas are just too similar. 3 zones that look exactly the same, with exactly the same enemies is why people hated it.

Why, exactly, does anybody think they deserve to get everything from every event? Why should they?
Not everything. Just 1-2 things out of a possible 10. It’s completely stupid to have cosmetic gear be completely left up to 2 levels of pure RNG.
It’s an unethical thing for ANet to scream about removing grinds, yet implement something as sinister as this. You have to grind for chests which have a terrible chance at dropping. And then you have a terrible chance of getting a weapon token from there.
Pick one, or the other.
Either make the chest drop way more often or make the chests rare, with a guaranteed skin. That way, people can spend real money on a chest if they want a skin, or just farm the chests for free.
One of the goals of this game is to progress through cosmetics. Allow people to do that. Allowing more people to have these rare items, doesn’t diminish their value if it’s just pure RNG. They can’t be sold anyway, and it’s not a prestigious thing to just be lucky.
And yes, this is a pure money grab from ANet, and not even an honest one. They should have the skins be available to be bought, outright. Or, allow people to gain them in game from actually doing something besides farming.
This could be a back slot item, or a set bonus for certain armour/gem/rune pieces.
Purely an aesthetic thing… Passive effects like billowing smoke coming from the feet/legs, or an overall aura like in DBZ with different colours. Or effects like being engulfed in fire, or snowflakes falling around you.
The ‘Fervid Censer’ has a bit of this with the pollen, which is nice.
It would be beneficial for variety if armour sets had these sorts of effects as well. Sets like the AC set, where the armour glowed blue at night like the weapons. The HoTW set could be snowing, or just have a trail of snowflakes while running. Another effect could be partial transparency.
As far as acquiring these items, the themes should fit the places. Dungeons should be a drop for some unique back pieces. It would bring more people to the other dungeons instead of just farming CoF path 1. Crafting can also create unique back pieces, or create runes/gems that can give these auras. You would need a certain number of gems/runes in order to gain the effect. And you could only have 1 effect at a time active.
I’m aware that implementing these types of things is not exactly an easy task, and it requires time to do. But I feel that this would be
That’s a good way to look at it. But some realistically accessible Karka skins would be nice. The weapon tokens is an example of poor implementation. Too rare, and not gained through effort.
You get the new skins from the supply box, thought all knew that …
That’s the problem. The “end game” is supposed to be aesthetic. Yet they make it completely RNG, and too rare.
Just did path 1, and our group got no reward either. I did it yesterday and got the reward. The only difference between the two runs was that in the run where we didn’t get the reward, the group cheesed the boss by standing on the rock.
Not sure if that would make a difference.
Don’t issue a refund. It’s called the early adopter price… Don’t cave in to the entitled mentality.
And yes, I did buy one at the “inflated” price. Stop whining.
It’s hard to take their position that this is a next gen MMO, when basic features like this are missing.
Players should be allowed to return items bought from vendors (karma, tokens, gold) for a full refund within 30 min – 1 hour. Yes you have a preview window, but it’s barely functional and can’t be trusted for most things.
And why is the CM armour different when worn by the vendor and a player? On the vendor it looks smooth, shiny, and new. On a Charr it looks like it crashed from space as it was burned up in the atmosphere.
I agree, except on the part of it being account bound. The skins should be character bound. There’s no reason for a Medium armour class to have to sort through Light and Heavy armours. That’s one of the main gripes of the TP, don’t implement that limitation it in another system.
It’s a little ridiculous to expect everyone wanting to run a dungeon to check the forums just to make sure that a single boss isn’t somehow bugged out, and blocks progress of the entire path because of it, so that they don’t waste their time doing the dungeon.
I wasn’t able to attend the event at first, I was one of the overflow crowd. The entire weekend was great because of how it progressed, and how it opened up the island for the future.
This way of introducing a new zone is different, and many people simply won’t like it because it is different. These same types of people will only look at what they didn’t get and complain about some pseudo injustice. Hopefully ANet is paying enough attention to not listen to these people, or at the very least not take them seriously.
The only issue I had was that my CPU couldn’t process what was going on and I was getting 5 fps because of it (it’s an old CPU). But that’s not the game’s fault. It’s nobody’s fault, that’s just the way it is.
Comparing an in game event and repeating the superbowl for eg is different on so many levels
You don’t think there’s additional costs with these events? What about the people who have to work overtime?
It’s not the end of the world. It’s just a game with some pixel items… Relax. Nobody will ever be able to experience every single thing in the game. There will be other events.
So let me ask you Hermes what would be so wrong with having this event run on say… a 5 hour or so loop so more people can experience it at some point?
That wouldn’t stop people from complaining about the people who can attend every one of those events as well. They still end up with more.
It’s a game kitten Grow up. Do you complain because they give out prizes at some baseball games as well? Do you really think people who have season tickets will complain when they can’t go to a game, but at that game, they gave out free hats or some other bs? No… Why? because they’re not babies.
There should be central places (like the TP) where people can open up a window and browse through a list of guilds recruiting. It will show a main message, the category of focus (PvX, PvP, PvE, WvW). It could show number of members, upgrades, etc.
This should in theory cut down on the /map spam messages. It also makes it a lot easier for people to browse for guilds in game, without having to rely on outside websites.
People can apply for the guilds directly with this interface. If anyone is familiar with Global Agenda, the system they implemented is actually quite good.
It’s because of the proximity to the other player that got hit. When he got hit, you were still within range of the hit and took melee splash dmg in addition to the 2 hits you would normally take.
Whether this is intended or not, I don’t know.
Gator
The only thing I can really say to you is: You need to define what your role in a group. You are in charge of how you want to be a team player. You need to figure out how you want to play, or what way you play best and design your build around that.
For example. On my Necro, I switch between playing a Condition Damage AoE DPS spec, and a Tanky build built around stripping boons/conditions and direct Damage.
One is obviously a DPS spec, the other is a group support spec. If you are stuck in the Trinity mindset, think of GW2 as having a different Trinity consisting of, DPS, Support, Control. Although, I would personally say Control = Support.
DPS = Obvious
Support = Providing some group heals, Boons, Condition Removal
Control = Stuns, Fears, Knock Down/Back, Kiting, Damage Absorbing
Where are the fun challenges? Where are the puzzles and platforming bits? Why am I only clearing boring mobs, and fighting gimmicky bosses? Why do all of my guildies agree that even after successfully beating a dungeon, they never ever want to do any dungeon in GW2 ever again?
There are two easter egg jumping puzzles in AC (that I know of). Have you seen them? One is funny and the other is a reference to a movie. They offer no in game reward, is that part of the problem? Do you see everything in the dungeon as simply getting in the way of your reward?
CoF path 3 has the things you just listed. CoE exp has a little more variety than just spamming attacks on a boss. CM has the blow up door event (that everyone skips because they think it’s hard or takes too long). It also has the rocket trap, the room with spikes in the floor, etc.
The cool parts in the dungeon aren’t always part of a boss fight, and shouldn’t be. I do agree that not every part of every dungeon is completely optimal. Not every part of every dungeon is unique and interesting.
But you’re making very general statements and completely avoiding the areas where the things you ask for are given to you.
That’s completely irrelevant to the point that they brought up.
Have you played Twilight Arbor story mode? Those bosses are incredibly difficult, frustratingly so.
and
All of those who use the taglines:
“Just dodge it!”,
“You have a bad build”,
“You’re a bad player if you cant do this”
All of the above are really just cop-outs.
They said this because I stated that the dungeons aren’t hard. They tried to prove that they are indeed too hard. They then go on to say that they are easy if done right. But doing it right is tedious.
How can you not see the problem in this thinking?
Individual mobs have cool mechanics – the Knights in TA have a leap-knockdown-flurry combo which is fun to watch for, neutralize, avoid, and position against.
Then they put 3 of them with a boss in TA E.
That. Is. TEDIOUS design. NOT fun, NOT challenging: Tedious. You can pull them individually, or a couple at a time. You don’t HAVE to fight the entire group at once. This is why people like you are bad. Because you don’t try to separate the enemy group. Any class has the tools to do it.
People should selectively read even less than they should selectively quote. The guy says in the very next sentence of his post that he knows you can pull them individually and that its not hard. You insult him for not being able to do something he states in his post to be quite easy. Did you just not bother to read the rest of it? And by the by, I agree with him. That fight is either A) easy and tedious as you pull them one at a time or
impossible if you are stupid enough to try and fight them all at the same time. A happens a lot more than B, in my experience, and its just as much of a problem in terms of gameplay. Slightly less powerful mobs, but ones smart enough not to run back to their original positions while one of their mates gets pounded into dust IN CLEAR VIEW of them would be a lot more fun.
Okay… First of all, separating the group is tedium? Picking off individual members of a group that would otherwise insta-gib you is tedium? Really?
You can’t complain about a group being too hard, and then say that picking them off is too easy. And then complain that you can’t just rush in and kill them as a group.
I agree the mechanics need a bit of tweaking, But the original argument was that story mode is too hard and saying that people are bad is a “cop-out”. They then go on to list the Knights as a reason why it is too hard. Then in the very next sentence admit that it is easy.
Do you not see the problem here?

In short: GW2 Dungeons are objectively very poorly designed; and I hope future dungeons are improved upon.
In short: You need strategy, and teamwork. Being downed is part of the game. It’s not a big deal. That’s why you have teammates to help you. The ONLY problem with Kudu is the 2nd bot if you don’t have condition removal. The rest is a joke.
Learning how to deal with groups is important and not something to be forgotten. This isn’t like other games.
(edited by AresOnasis.4703)
Oh that is a terrible argument: “You’re just a bad player then if you’re having trouble in story mode with this stuff.”
Have you played Twilight Arbor story mode? Those bosses are incredibly difficult, frustratingly so. When my party of fellow guildies finally managed to reach the final boss, all their enthusiasm had disappeared along with the smiles on their faces. They were not having fun. And many of them were considering quitting the dungeon due to all the armor repairs and the absurdly hard final encounter.
And that’s the biggest problem. Not that it’s hard (which it is), but that it isn’t fun. Most people I’ve grouped up with have said, and I quote: “I’m never doing this dungeon ever again, the armor isn’t that important”.
That is a bad sign. Lots of dungeons in GW1 were tons of fun (Sorrow’s Furnace, Frostmaw’s Burrows, Fissure of Woe, Underworld) even if they sometimes were badly designed and unfair (Fissure of Woe, Underworld, DOA).
Yes I have done story mode, at least 3 times.
Maybe their idea of fun is just steam rolling through things? Do you feel that you should be rewarded for minimal effort? Do you not think overcoming a difficult encounter is its own reward?
Who cares about repair bills? What else are you going to spend your money on in this game? A legendary? Please, if repair bills are a problem for you, then a legendary is far out of reach.
Story mode is supposed to be easier than explorable, but not so easy that you can just blindly walk through it without any regard for how to play properly.
Yes… you can play how you want, and you don’t need super awesome gear to complete it. But what you do need, is knowledge about your class, proper builds and how to play them.
If you suck at dodging and can’t kite… Don’t be a glass cannon. or at the very least, swap out to more defensive utility skills.
“Playing the way you want” doesn’t mean you get to be terrible and still get every reward you want.
nethykins.7986…
You’re just a bad player then if you’re having trouble in story mode with this stuff. You’re not supposed to spam your support abilities. They are there to be used at the right time. You don’t just stand there and wait to be hit. You don’t just use condition removal the second you get a 2 stack of something.
Seriously, I’m not going to spell out exactly how to counter this. You need to think about it for yourself for it to sink in.
This can happen on all 3 paths.
Not really. After the last patch it only happens on one.
The oakhearts will come to you (unless someone else in your party kites them, of course, but that’s a perfectly valid strategy) and the tree does have a ranged attack in the spider version.
The only one where you can simply stand there is the one with the spikes and turrets, but you still have to stand on the vine, otherwise the spikes will hit you.
You can avoid it by standing on branches.
Even on story-mode CM for example there’s some imbalance issues and generally sloppy design.
- Snipers one shot … I don’t want to have to re-spec my traits JUST not to get one shot for one dungeon.
You can avoid those shots if you dodge at the right time.
I thought the whole ethos was “play they way you want”
To a certain extent. Bad players shouldn’t be allowed to walk through explorable modes.
Hounds use Fear, Cripple AND knockdown constantly – and it’s easy to get knocked into a chain where you have no control over your character.
Fighters knockback too often, and you can also be chained into a knockback-lock when you get to the point inside the Manor where there’s a large group of them.
Stability, blocks, knockback, dodging, counter fears, stuns, etc. There’s a lot of ways to counter this, especially as a team.
In relation to bleed stacks, AC rangers seem to have heavy stacks of bleed damage. Though applying bleed on them isn’t anywhere near as effective.
Condition removal.
For bosses/mobs, all I can say is that some of them are clear in readability of what’s to be expected, aka telegraphing. (Take a look at the Troll or the Ranger Nente boss in AC story…very clear telegraphing, – then look at some other bosses/mobs and it’s a different story).
Learning a boss is part of the process. Knowing what they do and when they do it is just as important as building your spec properly.
Without that, all dungeons become less about skill and more about guessing when a boss will attack. And with only 2 dodge rolls on cue, you could easily use up those dodges pre-judging a huge attack for one of the smaller ones you’d be able to take a hit.
Dodge isn’t your only defence.
You are able to swap out weapons and utility skills in between every pull if you want to. You should take advantage of that from time to time.
You coming up against a large group that chain stuns? Use something that gives stability.
Going against a group that does a lot of condition damage? Use condition removal.
Going up against a kiting/survival event? Change out some of your major traits so you have more survivability.
If I have a weapon I can equip with 1,000 range I can literally auto attack and alt tab without fear of dying. This can happen on all 3 paths.
Very, very boring.
Spiders should spawn from the entrances.
Oakheart (or whatever they’re called) should get a ranged attack.
Turrets should be spread further to the outsides.
Hopefully this gets enough traction to where ArenaNet has to implement this. It’s a fantastic idea.
This is especially relevant considering they put a max on bank space, which doesn’t make sense at all.
GW2 on the other hand has grinds but primaraly for cosmetic/prestigue items.
You mean aside from the grind for lvl 80 exotic gear, which is pretty much mandatory to be competitive in wvw or useful in dungeons.
That’s nowhere close to being true though.
I don’t see a way of doing it either. It would be nice to have the option in game. Or be able to put in a support ticket for it.
As you can see from the picture, this makes the text unreadable. Is there a way to fix this on my end without having to use normal interface size?
I’m the Commander of the pact, I’m a Lightbringer of the Order of Whispers. I’m an Asura Savant…
No matter who I talk to, you would expect them to know who I am. See attached image for an example. In that example, I’m talking with an Asura who should know who I am, yet I get no mention.
To be blunt. This is lame. I’m just some cannon fodder, nobody. Just another regular shmuck, that just happens to be the Commander, 2nd in charge, yet nobody knows who I am. Even the Order of Whispers guys can barely remember who I am.
Agreed. This is a needed feature for a Trading Post.
Good point. However at the very least, the player should be alerted to the 10% tax and how much it would be if their item sold at that price before they place the item for sale.
Right now there is no indication of it anywhere.
These need to be combined and put up front. It’s a little unreasonable to expect people to do that math on every single thing they put up.
This is also causing people to freak out because they think they “lost” their money.
The 250 stack limit is very nice, but limited. Allow us to expand it to 500, 750, 1000 via Gem store upgrades.
600-800 Gems seems like a reasonable price.
Agreed. It is seriously straining my eyes being forced into a console FoV. This is a PC game, FoV slider or at least a drop down with a few choices is pretty much standard for any PC game.
Still looking for people who are interested in a relaxed atmosphere with people that get stuff done.
I bought the Shield/Pistol after I bought the Longbow so I would assume the roll back should have affected that.
I had bought the Guild Longbow and applied it to my weapon (Ranger) and it worked and looked fine. However, after relogging it was gone and the skin was the old one I was using. My bow was/is using a transmuted skin (Centaur Longbow).
I bought the Shield and Pistol for my Engineer and that has no problems so far.
Has this happened to anyone else?
It’s a shame you’re being so melodramatic about something you don’t have any idea about.
