what? weren’t they already trash since season 1? Why change a class that’s functioning as intended? Warrior is meant to be the base noobish class by Anet, thus, the trash class. Nothing new.
I dont wanna sound like a wise kitten , but I think warrior is about where it should be, it should be used as an anchor point to determine how strong everything else should be. so if you wanna change anything, warrior just isnt a wise starting point. Warriors as they are now have a distinct job, they have a rich choice in tools for that job, and they are interesting to play. Thats what pretty much everyone here wants for every class afaik.
Can you clarify what that job is and his tools to do it?

My suggestion would be to not bother tbh. Arenanet aren’t going to completely redesign a bunch of traits for a single class and if they for some chance decided to, they would t take community input on it.

They’re just the crutch on which many of our viable builds rely.
I know its a bit hateful to say this. but so is Death Shroud and Reaper Shroud. In fact Necros have it even better. they can activate death shroud automatically and it last far longer than any warrior stance. Thre is nothing lazy about stances. you need to kow when to activate them, but at the same time they need to last longer than 4-8 seconds.

I vote for shorter CD than longer duration. I use often it to absorb a burst… And I do really hate that long CD.

How this is a major update? …. Personally I didn’t even know they split the dmg in PvP/PvE…. I mean… it’s already a skill that deals little dmg in PvP… and inflicts 4x vuln… it’s already a meaningless skill. How the kitten that dmg in PvE affects me at all? I don’t do PvE at all and even if I does… I don’t see why anyone would be counting on that skill to deal dmg…

This seems worse than what happened to Helseth though. There doesn’t appear to be a DC in this case. Although I guess if there’d been wholesale pip losses after wins there’d be a huge ruckus here a by now and there hasn’t been.
Well OP said he queued with someone who DC-d. Though, I can’t exclude cases without DC but making the winning team lose pips. Yeah that would be worse.
But what I meant was that an DC making his whole winning teammates lose pips is a known issue. If you connect back and win, it shouldn’t happen.
It happened to me once (or twice?) that I DC from a game but I’ve been able to come back and win; I remember not losing pips but gaining 1. So this would let me believe that’s something that could happens sometimes but not systematically. Or am I wrong?
Anyway, it’s happening more frequently (from my observations on forum) and all we can do is to hope it’ll get fixed the sooner possible. Because Anet is already aware of this issue.

If all you do is nerf those 2, you’ll still have Tempests/Druids bunkering it up like before with Scrappers providing similar sustain with higher damage-output. Gotta look at the whole picture, not just these 2.
Agree with you here. EVERY SINGLE ELITE SPEC does too much, probably even berserker (although it is hard to tell b/c that mythical beast is rarely seen). If you nerf just the top dog, then the mantle just shifts slightly to the next guy and you don’t really change anything.
However, at least things like druid/tempest/scrapper etc. get their defense with a little more counterplay (not hard mitigation in the form of evades/blocks/invulns/etc.) making them succumb to focus-fire a bit easier. That isn’t to say they aren’t over-tuned, but since there is a stubborn refusal to do anything but the most token of balances, I’d say this the bare minimum.
At the very least, however, they should make well of precog give invuln and prevent capture-point contribution. That would at least make bunker mesmers much worse at holding 1vX for so long without getting decapped.
You can’t simply nerf bunkers while leaving the burst builds untouched, that’s just ridiculous

Na, the current top bunker builds can handle any burst build 1 v 2 pretty handily because it uses active invulnerable/evade/block on a short cool down or some passive perma -40% damage, passive aura spam, passive on swap trait/sigil, passive heal, passive immune cond to soak up everything.
The broken part is those bunkers not only hold well against 1 v x, it also is very good at 1 v 1. If you use a non-bunker against them, you not only can’t kill them, they also have quite a high chance to kill you instead.
Best example is Tempest VS Thief/Daredevil. Tempest can soak up everything thief throws at them , they can also easily use their passive proc and aoe spam to kill thief passively. If you don’t believe, que up your thief right now in ranked battle and see how it fair right now.
The question is..can you play a non bunker ele in general and not being one shotted by a thief or other power build? In three years nobody has been able to do that, no even TOP ESL players like @Zoose and @Phantaram.

I miss the Aion targeting system in games, too.
You basically assign signs or numbers to your targets. By clicking on the assigned keybind, we can select directly the one we desire.
Mesmers will be a problem, your suggestion is good on this, or we could let them without target too.

The answer may be found in peeking behind the curtain. While we can’t do that we can get some insight from former and current employees thanks to glassdoor.com. While not ranked horribly, ArenaNet is ranked lower than most studios behind competitive play titles including: Riot Games, Valve and even Activation-Blizzard. Going solely by redundant information found on that site over time, we see some patterns emerge. It seems ArenaNet has more office politics than most environments and management tends to micro manage randomly and just because without any real set triggers. When they launched GW2 back in 2012 the spirit was very we’ve created the most innovative, beautiful MMO ever made There was a lot of pride in the product. A lot of that warranted, but I think the failures of the core game launch are well known. I think the failures in the first year of release are well known and the numbers just aren’t there. The game may have met financial milestones, but certainly not the hope that the passionate hard working crew behind it had hope it would. Frustrated by who knows what, many of them have departed leaving us with the next wave of talent.
All companies have problems, I just hope they aren’t delusional about how grand GW2 in the mix of MMOs on the market place here in late 2015. The play mechanics hold much untapped potential and even potential to be #1 but that is restricted by where it falls short in so many other aspects and I’m way beyond talking PvP alone here.
I do honestly feel at this stage in it’s life ArenaNet is aware the game is no longer viewed as fresh and new. In fact, it’s quite old to the gaming community, so their strategy is likely to take small risk, every feature designed to maximize revenue even at the expense of what some players may view as the integrity of the game.
They care much more about loss of play time and spending than rants. So when they see you’re in forums chatting up all that’s wrong then you return to game only to play another 4.6.8 hours a day understand…. You are the fish and they have their hook in you. They are in control and ultimately for them, the design is working. They know your love of what the product was and hope for what will be fixed help root you and they are likely playing this to their advantage.
It’s a virtual theme park, all the needed professionals are on staff to implement system to keep us in game and spending money.

The class is already dead in PvP, kind of. If you were to play warrior, it’d be just for the fun and thus, you can try any build you want.
For Viper, why do you need to ask people their build? Go equipe the viper amulet and go test by yourself to see what fits you the best.
Imo, Viper wouldn’t be (the warrior won’t be) anything serious because of the Viper revenant. The warrior have no tools to compete with revenant. You can play it for the fun, and I’d suggest for it dual sword or sword/shield (torch for dmg, or even mace for KD) as main weapon set, and something like mace/shield (or hammer?) as second weapon set. Try it, you can get 30% AS with Arms and Berserker GM traits, it could be interesting to boost the dmg, but you won’t have Defense.

I’d like some action PvP MMO that would interest me and have active developers…
I can’t actually find any attractive games… that have nice graphismes + dynamic gameplay … they all seem to be cheap f2p games, that’s really annoying.
Thanks to Guild Wars 2… I will never play again or just even try any MMO that has a leveling phase and requires to do PvE before being able to PvP (like farming stuff etc). I want to play a game that I can install and do PvP directly without doing XX hours of PvE.
(actually I’m dl-ing eso, maybe the last mmo that’ll try out, the pvp is just like WvW of gw2 but the new classes etc, it would be interesting… The game I loved was Aion and it was an open-world PvP so… maybe I could play a real ranger again in a game.. I never could love WvW in gw2… people are really kitten… anyway kitten NCsoft.)

I’m actually going to say that splitting is a bad thing. Splitting helps in the case where PvP and PvE are vastly different gametypes. In the past this has been true, but with HoT Anet have shown that they want to make enemies more like players-some have armour, some don’t, some have different attack behaviours and evasiveness.
As far as I am aware, and certainly personally, this has been more fun than the previous “block of unarmoured HP” strategy for PvE content.
This has started moving PvE content away from the Berserker stat meta. It’s still a long way to go, but at least condi builds are starting to shine in certain parts of PvE.
Yes, splitting balance means that PvP changes do not affect PvE changes (which is normally the balancing priority), but if something is bad in one and good in the other, I’d prefer Anet to address the reason that a skill functions at such a different level, rather than splitting balance.

they are completely different gametypes. I can’t stand 5min in PvE map. Even in Lion’s Arch. And because they are different, they must balance according to the game mode.
If you keep fusion-ed those two, the balancing will become more and more difficult to do.
I don’t want some classes to stay unfixed in PvP just because of PvE where they might be doing well …

Splitting balance makes balance easier but it doesn’t make it a good decision. The problem with split balance is that it is extremely hard on new players, which isn’t good if you are trying to grow your playerbase.
The reason it’s hard on new players is that it’s a rule change. A new player gets used to abilities in PvE, if then then go into PvP and all of a sudden their class is working completely differently it tends to make the game feel completely arbitrary, which quickly leads to a /quit.
One of the big rules of game design is never change how the rules work. If X ability does Y thing in most of the game it shouldn’t just change to doing Z thing for some other part of a game.Also this game’s balance isn’t perfect but it’s well within the scope of reasonable, especially by mmorpg standards. Players need to realize that balanced games still have metas and bad builds. Metas will always exist for any game with asynchronous class design.
The new players that are born to be PvE type, they won’t be concerned since they won’t play much of PvP if not at all.
The PvP type, players will appreciate that they split up the two modes and it will give them a feeling of a game taken seriously by the dev team. And they won’t be confused… I mean come on, unless they are dumb as kitten…
Like the OP already told, make a tutorial or find a way to let them know that some skills maybe different and that it’s advised they test them on Golems, before doing a PvP game.
+1 A balance split between game-modes definitely has to happen eventually.
With more and more specs presumably being released in the future it will get progressively harder for the devs to maintain decent class balance across PvE, PvP and maybe WvW (I have no idea if that mode even is supposed to balanced at all tbh).
In my opinion, mainly balancing around just one game-mode and “kinda” shoehorning in a bit of extra balancing for another mode that plays totally different simply won’t cut it in the long run.

He will just absorb the condi’s of allies and as he’s got resistance, he’s immune to any conditions. That’s usually what I do when I face heavy condi teams. I try to spam Pain absorption most of the time.
Anyway, what I want to say is… I doubt that will make a difference now, in the current meta.

Revenant condi is way better ! Pain absorption + resistances you get from other mallyx skills make really the difference, imo.
