Not only was there a deliberate (seeming) nerf, that whole “30%+ to gear” doesn’t seem to apply to Giver’s armor, which already was inefficient and needed help.
As I was warning others of, the new patch brought with it a colossal loss of boon and condition duration. Arena, you’ve been playing up the “we’re buffing gear! we’re buffing stats!” but that wasn’t explicitly the truth if you completely exclude these two fundamental directions.
Was it because you wanted to nerf duration modifiers? If so, why do so many runes vary wildly in how lengthy they make different conditions?
Was 10+ might too much with about 60% uptime? (6% damage increase counting for full combat)
Moreover, it would appear with this “gear upgrade” Giver’s was laid to the wayside without the most important feature of it so much as being touched. In fact, beforehand it was already a poor investment: compared to other secondary parameters given in comparison to the trait tree, the 17% (56% of the trait bonus), from all possible gear, isn’t even close to the near-double value of other secondary stats on gear likewise compared to the traitline. I don’t think even so much as giving it the same treatment as everything else (+30%, roughly 6%, which could be put onto the primary armor pieces,) isn’t unfair, but it needs a lot of help and even moreso in the post-patch climate.
Indeed, this gear was not only overbalanced but now is even less useful under the current circumstances, ironically. It’s practically a liability with just trying to get back to -baseline- what we had prior to this patch.
I’d like to see us gain back our boon duration, but if we’re getting it lost as a blanket nerf the least you can do is give us giver’s gear that has a purpose rather than just be used for leveling crafting.
On the topic of just recovering boon duration, please rebalance runes to coincide with the gear change, to give the builds who want it it via runes – in the proper amounts to be comparable pre-patch?

I would love to understand the rationale behind these changes. Were banners and greater banner radius considered OP? The result is you need to mostly stack to get the benefit which is more than a little inconvenient. Applying buffs based on a stationary source is already a hazard in most cases, let alone now it’s going to be a teeny tiny area. The reduced CD was a blessing but now we’ll not see our standard uptime.
Moreover Inspiring Battle Standard was moved seemingly haphazardly to Discipline where none of the traits seem to synergy with supporting or buffing your team or even so much as healing where tactics has been and continues to be a theme. With the advent of specializations being a full tree the location of the IBS makes even more sense. Why would we weapon swap more with banners out? Banners are an environmental weapon even, which makes zero sense with the primary boon of discipline.
Someone pls send me message if they ever reveal who was fired for this , tx
.
The guy that made the changes probably had 2 rounds of pvp with warr..on his shoutbow.
literally that’s how i feel, the guy doesnt play warrior at all
I guess at this point I would love to just know why it had to go and wasn’t bundled.
Master
Inspiring Battle Standard: Banners apply regeneration for 3 seconds every 3 seconds to allies in their radius while they are active. Banners still there, Is not lost =)That’s actually Inspiring Battle Standard.
Inspiring Banners –
Banners apply their bonuses to a larger area. Reduces recharge on banners.
Recharge Reduced: 20%,
Radius Increase: 50%This was lost, they could of at least left the Radius increase to 50% but no
Banner moved from tactics (fitting) to discipline in and of itself is a nerf because of how many pure offense traits are forced along that line just for something that eventually becomes a support skill.
A weapon swap traitline somehow synergizes with… Banners? Am I the only one understanding this?
But guise, why play warrior? That class is just there to say we have one, you’re actually supposed to play engineer or at least ranger!
Really disappointed, they seem to have forgotten half the changes.
Frenezy?, Zerker Stance?, Physical Skills?, Heals?, Banner CD?
I hope that they clarify everything before patch because right now, apart from trait changes, we don’t know kitten.
-Forgot- to tell you stop playing with garbage skills the designer doesn’t like and start playing Shoutbow
it seems like the devs are fairly active in communicating with the community
You know, I changed my main character to warrior after they proposed the dragon hunter specialization without keeping the base guardian with any place. Currently, guardian is able to be easily kited and even professions they are supposed to “counter” can beat them given equal skill on both parts. Looking at the upcoming changes, guardian was again kicked in the kittens but although I was hopeful to return I didn’t care, I gave up on that profession.
Fast forward to the warrior notes and …………………………………………. WTF, I mean warrior still is playable but the burst skills nerf.. really. I think my biggest laugh was at banner regen being put in no mans land. I know I can’t play the game in the way that I want anymore but for the love of God please leave at least one heavy armor class that I can enjoy and not make the warrior so boring.
Seriously, the banner trait nerf is insane, even taking out the -recharge and +aoe traits without compounding them.
I don’t see what all the crying I’ve seen is about. Yes, there are some nerfs here and there. But the buffs!
No, they bat-kicked the snot out of a bunch of underpowered/niche traits that had no broken facets completely out of the game while making very powerful builds more powerful and weaker classes weaker.
No, this wasn’t “buffs,” overall with the changes they’ve implemented everyone has been brought down a good degree and many builds just don’t exist anymore – the opposite of their “intent” with these changes.
Why in the hell has Merciless Hammer been hidden behind a bunch of garbage that doesn’t apply to it?
Welcome to every class that wasn’t Ele or Engineer
RIP Banners, I will never Shoutbow no matter how much you want me to
Why play a Warrior dude? They included the class to say they had diversity and appeal to traditional MMO players but they -really- just wanted you to play Engineer.
As usual fun is a victim of overbalancing where it isn’t necessary
I think the devs pretty much operate on a system of taking everything they remotely dislike personal.
They’re also some of the worst for “listening to feedback.” I know it’s NCSoft basically at this point (look at what happened to Champions Online and how that went down so fast) but I’m spoiled after playing something made by Grinding Gear Games and having devs on a tiny lil’ 90’s-era sized team have time to post feedback responses and still be productive to the fullest
Hype destroyed. Looks like these changes going live.
Yeah, people are looking at the fact that the most obnoxious Warrior build right now got substantial QoL (which of all it did NOT need any more of,) while just about everything else in that house got garbage for breakfast and even minor things got torn up (my skritt hole suffers the loss of banners being relevant)
RIP Banners
“We always hated you from the start!”
what happen?
Inspiring Banners got moved from Tactics to Discipline. The banner upgrade trait no longer exists and wasn’t made baseline.
i.e. Inspiring Banners (regen from banners) got moved to a trait line that it has 0 synergy with. It competes with two offensive options in an offensive trait line for master slot. Sure, it’s a master slot now, but now it’s completely obtuse, and as well there are no more banner supports outside of it, making them usually a very boring weight of skills with no individual variation.
Oh say does that purple tactics banner yet waaave
O’er the land of PvE
and in a home, in tactics, with the traits
Good luck, it’s not going to happen. But repost this every now and then until you at least earn the ire of the balance team and they get so mad they express their ignorance out loud to the player base
Anet really needs to look at how obnoxiously overbalanced “additional stat passives” are, especially in this context. No one uses them when anything more interesting in remotely near, and when a piece of food provides more than a full trait…
why are you even playing warrior playerbase?
I don’t read “longbow” even once on this page! You’re doing something wrong. Those are just noobtrap traits meant to enhance the enjoyment of players that don’t play this class.
It wouldn’t be half as insulting if they kept it in tactics at least, a relevant skill line, a reason to not pick healshouts.
It’s just purely an insult at this point.
Elixir-infused bombs gone
Goodbye any reason to use bombs as a whole
There used to be an increased AoE + Recharge for them for one. Now it’s just the regen… And it’s moved to discipline of all things rather than tactics.
A: They lied
:)
Expect no buffs. Characters were too strong with trait stats. Across the board nerfs for everyone!
RIP Banners
“We always hated you from the start!”
RIP Banners
“You won’t be missed. We always loved your brother Shoutbow more, now die in kitten.”
Seriously, why did you neuter one of the worst sets of skills for warrior, put a supportive skill in no man’s land, and buff the most dominant build for warriors which was already pulling its own weight – even more?!
No, they made rifle spec pointless, they KILLED any reason to use banners, buffed shoutbow in every way
That’s pretty enraging having Anet tell you they don’t like you playing anything but one specific build – which will get outshined by the overhaul coming to other classes that fulfill the role this build otherwise would
But guys, you needed to play more longbow! What on earth is a warrior doing with a rifle?
:^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)
Indiscriminate nerfs to already useless traits are overshadowed by the obnoxious, pointless buffs to Shoutbow, and on top of that now for whatever asinine reason they MURDERED banners?! Inspiring Standard out of tactics even. They crippled -banners-. Banners. What have -banners- done to break the game that justifies completely destroying all support for them? There’s an utter and complete lack of complementary traits now, just an entire class of utility skills with all of one relevant trait in a BAD BAD BAD HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE MOST USELESS TRAIT POSITIONING place with half the prior supports missing.
But longbow needed buffs guys! Mace gets 1-3 stacks of vulnerability, don’t forget that guys! 1-3 10s stacks of vuln is a -huge- buff guys! Situational too! But yeah that longbow wasn’t catered to enough.
Oh and shouts guys! Use those underused shouts! All of the time! They’re so much more fun than banners, just rotate your shouts over and over again guys! Why do we even have banner skills they’re so lame?
:^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)
(I’m very very upset and will likely pitch another hissy-fit if these changes aren’t jokey or “beta”)
LOL
THIEF BUFFS
“Please, let me have even more ways to completely mitigate damage, alpha without consequence, do even more burst, and make enemy counterplay COMPLETELY unviable (even though there isn’t even any whatsoever for stealth)”
Oh god thief tears are so delicious. Keep whining that the most broken-by-design class keeps getting hammered because it will continue to do so until you can’t win every 1v1 against anything but a CC bot.
Looks like after coming back after an immense amount of time, there are still loads of bugged events that cannot be completed save after a new patch immediately, some of which players like myself with work schedules can’t get in on.
A lot of it is things not spawning, NPC’s not going back to their area, NPC’s not coded to progress, aggro issues, events not refiring in general.
Any word on some tangible, known fixes coming alongside upcoming feature patches or at least HoT?
How frustrating and unreal.
First time got an attempt of someone else logging in, and can’t even change my own password. Perhaps it has to do with them not being able to log into peoples’
accounts and -then- change stuff but still, all I see is the same page, no error, and the url with?reason=ErrBadPasswd tacked onto it.
I’m a mesmer running a 30/30/0/0/10 build
Want to know something silly?
I die last and last longest, while dealing the most damage.
It doesn’t get more simpler than this: L2P Scrublord
I -love- Portals, as a mesmer.
Five minute damage sponge champion mob that no one will die to?
No.
AC sorta’ provides an incentive for this – the mobs ACTUALLY DROP stuff, in this case, silvers.
Five silvers for five minutes of slugfest… Or the rest of the dungeon, including somewhat fun fights…
No, I’ll skip boring/pointless/time-consuming fights to my heart’s consent, thank you very much. If you want to stand still and press 1 and go eat and call it fun, that’s you. Me? I prefer fights that require paying attention, and a lot of mobs just do the exact opposite or become tedious.
Also: Giganticus Lupicus and Colossus Rumblus are the only two real boss fights in this game and I enjoy them thoroughly.
Neither, go put on some clothes =\
+1 For fatser movement down hills
D’oh, Freudian slip
It’s standard practice now to set up a catapult inside a keep just beyond the door so that the projectile arcs over into the area above the door and explodes, or just goes over, knocking down everyone at gate or just providing a catapult shell that cannot be return-fired.
Yeah, this is a little frustrating, considering anywhere that has done this makes rams pointless and a waste of resources.
This doesn’t seem intended, especially with the way the rock clips through the arch above the gate then suddenly explodes. Considering you can’t launch one back safely, or have any way of finding out where the cata inside is set up in a fair manner, I think it’s safe to say this is something that might need fixing.
What’s more is why doesn’t iWarden do this / why can’t swordsman do this?
“On hit” runes in general should be “On your attack…”
Seems awfully backwards, get rewarded for bad gameplay…
I completed it
It’s not ? ? with 1/3 tiers complete and 0 progress towards ???
Ether clone, prismatic understanding, confusion, on-interrupt damage and inactive trait…
Yeap, all of my “wouldn’t poke with a fifty-foot pole skills”
I’m for this.
You might also want to look into the “Carrion Flame” models for Charr as well
attacking/stowing the weapons turn off all particle effects they otherwise have!
Fairly annoying. We got two pillars hits in before he became completely immune this last run.
His collision is normally buggy, but now he occasionally seems to just ignore the pillars completely – even after resetting. He also likes to get stuck on the minute changes in elevation on the floor…
Very annoying to have this happen, especially with a good group =\
This happened. We did it twice, he was immune after that.
I might add – the “flame greatsword” (Charr cultural t2 weapon) doesn’t glow with the flame particles when switching weapons or using any abilities, bugs may be related.
Crucible of Eternity
Tried via dialogue pop-up and entering portal
Simple as it gets: another series of separated instances.
Condition cap needs to be heightened drastically, condition damage needs to scale and crit (if that’s possible with the current engine)
Haven’t ran it, but…
From what I’m hearing it sounds like whereas you can only brute force the boss using DPS cranks like time warp and poison, you’re required to brute force crystals due to their spawn rate.
That seems the problem here…
That said, some people are meeting success.
