You could ask the guildleaders about dissapearing/passive members.. I am sure they can confirm that lots of people are leaving/going passive.
My guild had tons and tons of players, but the leader had to go berserk and kick tens of people on a weekly basis because they stopped playing!! (And i was in a top www-guild with really cool and social guys (as long as you played www).
So by the look of it, players are leaving fast.
Speaking for myself, i am actually just in here after some three months off from this game to see if the ranger still sucks, and i can rest assured it does.
Anet doesnt know up from down with this game! Pve, dungeons, www and sPvp are just too much to balance with the 5-skill-bar.. haha^^ Imagine that!! They guys that made GW with cross proffesions and hundreds of skills to use on each character cant balance the five freaking bowskills.. Wow.. Its sad really.
Have a good one!
I agree with OP! I played GW for 5 years and F5 on Gw2 news since announced, and what a let down..
Its not that he core game is bad, on the contrary: It has an amazing world, cool creatures and some neat details around the world.
1. But the personal story is bullkitten. You cant complete it in one go, you need to do all sorts of things to be able to do the next step on the other side of the world, and then you cant do the dungeons alone with the npc`s, so you need to bring in total strangers into YOUR “personal story”.. And then you forget what the hell you even were doing in it by the time you get to the next part. Lol!?! Then you realise your not even the hero of YOUR story. And the story isnt that great anyways (well, i completed some 10 parts of it before i couldnt be bothered anymore).
2. The world is big and you feel alone. But with other people/friends onboard it is just more people running around like drunks, with no aim and teamplay. Pointless!
If in each zone there was something special to do, then ok cool, you can do it together. Running around aimlessly isnt my idea of fun.
3. You got the dungeons, but you instead of making it a cool place were your fightning-skills counts.. it is a place of “trick and treat”. Doing some small annoying meaningless detail wrong and you start all over again.. lol? NOT my idea of fun! It is a place for the nerds, not the fighters. “Riddle me this batman-dungeons”^^
4. You got the WwW: Zergs and commanders that didnt deserve it by conquering the title: they bought it!! And for sure most of them have no clue at all. Besides, running around like a brainless swarm after a blue dot isnt my cup of tea, sorry. (What will they do in one year from now when everyone has a blue dot commander tag?^^)
5. sPvp: somewhat fun, then you meet thief or mesmer and your dead. No sense of balance, and the “balance” happening is the work of kitten off stubborn 5 year olds that really dont care if you have fun or not, sorry to say.
The proffesions isnt really working either, and to be honest.. none of them are really truly Fun. Even with all skills, weapons and armors unlocked they all seem to be like the starting character in other games BEFORE you get the good items and skills.. they are clumsy, slow and awkward. Skills with cooldown like a month and a half, and when you finally can kittening use it it kittening fails on your kitten !!!!
6. The guilds are too loose and the idea that you can be in many guilds and dedicated to none is insane. The worst idea EVER! No dedication and no teambuilding, and no GVG!?!?! Jeez.. Were is the capes??^^
7. The ubermonsters.. the “Dragons”.. are booooooring! Stand in a crowd and fire your skills, one dodge a minute, then more dmg then get loot. Then go back to what you really were doing.. LOL!!!!?!?? It is sad really..
Overall the game is big and looks nice but nothing really catches on. Nothing really means anything in this game.. Some small glimps of entertainment, then gone. I wish it wasnt true..!
I play ranger, and the descrition says it is the master with the bow. REALLY? Then how come warriors and thieves got cooler skills then us???? Pathetic!
(edited by Avathor.1849)
Anet dont care as long as their beloved thief stays OP.
It is time to come back “when its finished”.. sigh
Too bad anet is too kittening arrogant.
Avathor, ranger, signing out.
They better fix pets first
But yea, i really love the Branded creatures! I would be so happy if i could have the Branded Skelk! Ubercool ninja monster with the amazing branded skin! What more can you ask for^^
Exactly! And it seems to me people vote for their proffesion (engineers) so they can be fixed and boosted first. So.. now you all know what to do.
Necros need som fixing, for sure. They are comparable only to us rangers. Warriors could be more agile, and close more easily in on target and not so easily crippeled, but they sure kill you in 2 seconds if they reach you. We still throw toothpicks at our targets, skills dont function and gets chased down like a drunk. So use your votes guys!
As for ranger vs necro then the only way a necro can possibly kill me in pvp is if my skills is on recharge from another fight, he has tons of condi dmg and he gets lucky and manages to fear me just as i try to heal. Other then that they are dead.
Sometimes i even stand in their deathshroud and laugh for a while, giving them hope lol.
I play ranger and in all the games facets; WwW, spvp, tpvp, pve and whatever. And i do reasonably well.
But i dont really have much to say other then that rangers are very nice in pve, decent in dungeons, alright in www and half broken but still not completely failed in pvp (mostly cause the bow is like aiming with a garden hose, we dont really have condi removal or decent traits. And if we get chased by someone there is only a matter of time before your dead.. no decent getaway methods.).
The rangers role, clasically and in GW original, is to be able to roam excited around. Cure conditions on himself, hide a little bit and use poison, bleeding and pew pew to kill.
In GW2 everyone is roamers. Thats how the game is constructed. So the classical role is split with everyone. We dont have burst-speed to cap points, like eles, mesmers or thieves. Our dmg is so so. Our elites SUCKS. And yea.. thats how it is.
Rangers sucks at melee, thats how it is. Even if we can do double dmg with the greatsword it still sucks. We cant move fluently with melee, so forget about it already.
Please feel free to ask questions though.
“A Ranger Pet hound has a good sense of smell, even though an enemy can hide in stealth, the pet should still be able to smell and track that enemy. Other profession handle enemy stealth by using AOEs,hopefully ranger can use their pets instead since our aoe is mostly utility dependent, not weapon skill dependent like other professions.
My ulterior motive is to be the bane of thieves actually haha[/quote]"
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!! GOOD JOKE!
They just nerfed the ele because their movementspeed was as good as the thief.. THAT was their reason to nerf them. So you see, thieves are supposed to be the untouchable predator in this game, end of story. Its like.. if i made a game and like one class, then i will make him wastly superior to any other classes and leave it at that. If you prefer som other class cause you like the other playstyle so be it, your dead. MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
The ranger can wield short bow and long bow, and i personally use just those. The sword and warhorn is nice for teamplay (buffs) and some fightning, and the Great sword is cool looking and fun to play but yea.. not so effective and we have reduced armor. Dual axe looks good but yea.. better with bows lol
Personally i just go with the bows.
Try out different pets and their skills. Its fun. But for most dmg then go feline. For kd`s and cripple use dog or wolf. For snares it is spiders and for tank it is bears. You can have two pets that you activate as you please, but with recharge timer.
Ranger is king in pve. Not so much in pvp.
My tip is to make your ranger with good armor and some hp. Your dmg is good in pve almost no matter what you do. But upgrade weapon and armor every 10 levels or so.
You can also try out pvp and www from early lvl so just go for it and try different things.
Enjoy!
We dont need to split the dmg really. The pets are cool, just as long as they fix the slow F2 (rather put it so the pet do it by themself initially and on recharge, and no 3 sec animation before skill hits^^) and also give the pets more focus on your target and the speed to keep it up.
Right now the pet runs around like it has some sort of delirium.
We dont need the pets to dogdge, and it is actually no good for them to dodge when we do. If i avoid an attack doesnt mean i want my pet to also roll in the mud.. i want it to keep deal dmg or doing their skills!!!! So no dodge already!
To avoid instant death, or dying too fast just make sure the pets dont loose more then some 300-500 hp per blow. And also make it more rigid to conditions and immune towards agony. (The ranger already suffers from the agony, no point in giving double grief!!)
To make the pet work and seem smart then just make the pets try hit from behind or from the sides. That way the shortbow can get in some bleeds hopefully. And the pets wouldnt stand constantly in the aoe from targets. Yes, this would be nice. And let the pets target your target fast and effective, unless you tell it otherwise.
If the pet dies then give us some Rampage as One boost to compensate for the lost dmg and cc! And also to make other players think twice about if they want to kill our pets or not. Right now everybody that knows the ranger kills their pets first. 3 hits and the ranger is left throwing toothpicks at them. I can almost hear them laughing..
So let us have Rampage as One if the pet is dead! Let us have 5 stacks of might, fury, stability swiftness and 5 sec of retaliation without even making it a trait! It should be mechanic.
This is all that is needed, really, as far as pets goes! I dont mind doing even more to this, but this would be very good.
I play ranger as my only main character. I am level 80 ages ago and lvl 32 in pvp now and almost completed map in pve. But now i am rolling a mesmer, thief and engineer. Cause i am tired of meeting classes with superior mechanic in pvp. So to fix the pet would be a good start. But to give the ranger better core options and playability is really also needed.
This should really be the focus of the devs for next update in april already. Really.
(edited by Avathor.1849)
1. DONT make pets dodge when you dodge. Its just plain silly. It might sound like a nice thing to make your pet stay alive for 3 more seconds, but in reality you mess things up. Lets say you attack a target with your pet and the target swings for you and you dodge. Your pet also dodge instead of doing its job..!! It would just look hillarious from the point of the enemy lol!
Besides, your using your own dodges to micromanage your pet. What if you are the next target? You just used your dodge^^ Or your both targets..? Its just a mess!
And also, it would make the programmers waste countless hours making new dodgeanimations for the pets, instead of doing something useful.
Better to make all dmg to pets more then 500hp be ignored, even critical hits! But if critical hit then perhaps the pet can have 3 seconds with protection and perhap it will avoid combat for 1-2 seconds. Like a natural reaction to pain.
Condition dmg to pet should be reduced also.
And the agony dmg in fractals shouldnt affect the pet at all. As i suspect it doesnt affect summoned weapons, necro minions or ele minions, or even mesmer phantasms/clones! Make it fair.. Agony affects the ranger already.
2. It would be nice if we could preset the pet. Make it do more dmg/glasscannon, tanky or normal. And make it defensive (attack only targets that attacks the ranger or the pet.) or aggressive (attack all hostile enemies nearby that is engaged, even by other teammates). That way we can adjust them to our playstyle, and also adapt to the situations as we see fit.
If we could also be able to choose skills/elites for them then the better. Also the pets should just use the elites as first thing they do, and even on recharge. No need to push F2 anymore.
3. I would love to see the white tiger and the Lion back in the game.. But even more so i would LOVE to be able to get the Branded Skelk as pet!!! Or any Branded at all really, but the branded skelk is so assasin nice and cool i luuuve it^^ It can be some sort of elite pet and so hard to get, or expencive in BL as you make it. I would get one! lol
4. One last thing: The “elite skill” Rampage as one.. its not really elite. Look at the thief, ele or warriors, or any other proffesion in the game! They get 10 stacks of might, swiftness forever and fury and retaliation and more if they just swap weapon, or take on step forward, or even double this if they dodge or yawn or sing an oldi goldi^^
I really would love to see the ranger get Rampage as One if the pet died! As a reaction of rage and desperation! It would make the ranger more true and fun!
Good luck making the pets better for us all!

Some suggestions to enhance the pet-experience. To make the pet more “intelligent” and also someone that enhances your role:
1. Be able to stove the pet for 10-15 seconds. It doesnt appear back before that timer ends unless you press the “stove button again”, and ranger get swiftness
2. The pet should ALWAYS aim to get behind the target attacking his back, or at the side. But at least it attacks from the opposite direction from the ranger.
Now, this gives at least two benefits: It dodges aoe directed at players.. (because it isnt infront). And second it might attract the attention of the target (if doing enough aggro) so that the Short Bow can make them bleed.. That way the SB will be more useful also.
THAT would be a blessing.
3. Pets F2 needs to me more instant. Right now it is so dodgeable and broken it is a joke, really..
4. If the player calls for the pet to return then perhaps the pet can have protection and some regen for 3-5 sec. If not i cant be bothered to ever use that button and rather leave it to its destiny; Cannonfodder!
5. Let pets avoid critical hits and/or also let dmg more then 500 hp be ignored. That way at least its not instakilled all the time.
6. Actually, to me.. i think that the pets F2 skill should just trigger the first thing the pet does. Thus no need to press F2. And also they use it on recharge. That way i would feel so good inside when the pet feels helpful and “intelligent”.
Just saying

There is no shortage in gems. Anet “makes” when people buy. But they put a prize on gems from start, and if people trade gold for gems then the price for gems rise (price/demand). If alot of people buy gems then anet lets the value sink a little so people with gold can get more chance to be on pair. Thats the mechanic behind it all.
I agree 100% with Behellagh`s post also.
So what we can draw from this is that as time gets by and more players can get gold, more then they need and save it, to buy gems then the price for the gems will rise. Also the price for Uber items will rise, since more people can afford them more easily.
At least thats how i see it.
I agree half way with OP. I myself like to roam around a bit, and fint it sometimes a little bit tedious with all the critters that is scattered around in such a way that they will cripple me every ten seconds or so if i dont doge or avoid, but that keeps my eyes focused on the critters and i cant really enjoy the amazingly beauty of the game.
Dont get me wrong, i like fighting critters but perhaps more scattered.
One solution to this, and OP`s original post, could be to put more veterans into the world, and leave the other critters more easy to faceroll. That way we can choose to avoid the veterans and faceroll the other critters. Better loot for veterans ofc.
I think i read somewere that refound is possible only if you didnt play more then 599 hours, so tough luck^^
But seriously.. this op is just a joke.
Hi!
I am norn ranger lvl 80 and plays in Fort Aspenwood. I tried to solve the heartmission in Soren Draa by doing golem chess but when i join the table all the skills just says “waiting for other player”. So i cant go right or left, or straight or fight. But the other programcontrolled golem can take its turns and come to kill me.
Pve got theirs. Enough for months ahead! Focus should really be on pvp now, and one more map isnt even in the ballpark of what is needed, really..
Make the proffesions more fun and effective (working), and balanced.
Cut the balls out of the kittening thieves and mesmers, or is it buildwars all over again?
Make maps for smaller fights between guilds.. something between the www and spvp maps.. i dont know.. something like.. the one we all loved.. the ones from GW-original?! Or for 20 players on each side?
And were is the ability to view matches? If this is going to be esport it will fail without audience. Just saying..
One more thing: Stuff like the trebuchet in the pvp-maps isnt a good thing. The best teams can be whiped cause some nerd managed to bomb ramdom.. kittening stupid!!!! Besides, new players that really isnt interested in studying all the aspects of the maps, but just want more on fun kicking butts, gets sick of it. Thinking they did well until some kittener press 2.. YEYYYYYYYYYYYY
How about just making players have to make decisions between priorities A, B, C and E and the fights and decisions therein decides who is the best. Not som kittening random luck kittening geybuchet. Its just deranged!
I remember how much fun i had ganking bases in GW-original.. How about making that possible again, in smaller maps..? Perhaps gank with 1-5 people but still really be able to turn the tide if skillful enough. One map in pvp with the lord is like that now, but i really hope for more. Mindless zerging isnt my thing.
(edited by Avathor.1849)
If you dont die much then go more for dmg. Thats the balance.. Death vs dmg.. think for your self.
I suggest same downedskills for all classes, so it is fair already. Same as i suggest same underwatercombat-skills for all, to make it fair. Just saying.
I was ready for pvp, jumping up and down in front of the “startingline” and i was mid air when the game started and Boom.. there i was, dead on the floor^^ Must be a bug right?
In pvp sometimes i get killes and res 3 sec later, sometimes 14 seconds.. Why is this? I cant see anything to indicate any difference, unless sometimes it really seems that it give the other team a nice advantage. Is this really meant to be like this? and if so, what is the given conditions for how it works, or is it totally “random”?
I am ranger..
So to be fair, the underwater combat and downed state is so unfair that it is amazing!!!!
On land i can kill most guys, but if i see someone coming at me underwater i just throw everything and flee like a kitten! Hoping they follow me so i can kill them on land and then go back to capture.. ^^ It is just so unfair skillwise that it is insane.
And downed state.. come on guys.. lol? Mesmers and assasins, as if not op already, can waste 40 min of your life downed already!! Here and there and kick in your face, and hey.. what do you know, 20 minutes later finally ready for the tenth and last “kill” in their down.. a sneaky invisible thief come and ress.. YEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
And what do the ranger got? one lousy attempt to stall/daze them (works 1 out of 3, and helps me stay downed for 2 more sec..)!!! Is this FAIR??? ANET I AM BEGGING YOU TO REALISE THIS IS NO GOOD!!!
Give all proffesions same underwater skills, so it is fair! And perhaps even downed!! Cause it is imbalance enough.
I would love to see gambling a new feature in the game.
It can be a “mystical twarted old man/woman” in some alley that in return for some gold or valuable items will give you a chance for a gosu item.. small but reasonable chance ofc^^
1. It is a nice goldsink.
2. Its a very nice way for players to possibly obtain the best loot in the game withouth playing for 9 months grinding the given dungeon/boss.
3. Perhaps even we could get items just available with the gamlers.
4. It is fun and exciting!
Perhaps also Anet could browse through the names of the characters ingame. I bet 99% of the players that has a name like gwerersefewwfdfwer is not into this game for the original reason^^ Just monitor them closely and ban when sure.
I agree with OP 100%!
Why make maps with “levels” when it is really just 10 levels max difference (15-25, 35-45, etc). It you are now stronger you should be able to blast through the lower levels easier. Ofc you dont get exp from it (or hardly) and if you got lower level friends with you they also dont recieve exp from your kills.
From day one i said that to make universal guilds is just a plain stupid mistake. It is hippie-thinking “lets all be friends”. But this is Guild WARS.. War.. you dont war on your friends.. We need tight guilds competing for honour, gold and bragging-rights (gold cape from GW was AWSOME!! MAN i even still want it lol^^) To belong to the top 10 pvp guilds or pve-raiders is something that is very cool, unless they can have 2500 members and even some people dont even care to represent^^ It is a MAJOR MISTAKE!
Can “Order of Whispers Spy Kit” Soulbound consumable work in WvW and/or PvP ?
I have two dozen and use them in PvE to break aggro but I never take my ranger PvP.
I think you can use all pve-stuff in WwW. Food that boosts stats and hp also i think. Dont know though cause i cant be bothered to try lol. I see it as lame^^
Well, rangers can traitskill Hide in Plain Sight from the Wilderness Survival traitline (Applies camouflage when you are dazed, knocked down, launched, pushed back, or stunned. This effect cannot trigger more than once every 30 seconds.).
But yea.. cannot trigger more then once every 30 sec. And it is passively applid, so it is not up to the ranger to use it tactically.
I dont know if this is bugged in some way though.
I use the bear only in dungeons, and for one reason only: It can survive longer.
It does as much dmg as a mudcake, so in general pve and pvp it is better to go for a pet that has control/dmg.
In pvp the bear is useless, and for sure i would never target it^^
I suggest that the ranger get one more line with skills above the utilityskills were we could pack in some skills more like the engineers backpack. Were traps, spirits and some other magick could be. This to make the ranger more party-friendly and more creative nature-wise. If the ranger is supposed to be able to make spirits, traps and other nature-magic then we need more skillslots i think.
I would love to know who from anet is actually behind the ranger development, if any. And if they listen to all the advice on this forum. There are some very good ideas here that really, seriously, should be taken seriously. But not a comment in sight.
The ranger from GW was great, but my favourite ranger (and warrior, druid, necro, sorceress/ele and assasin) are still the one from Diablo 2^^ And it shouldnt have to be that as of now in the year 2013. Their ranger (amazone) had spearskills to do kick kitten dmg 1 vs 1 and also killing mobs (Lightning fury). The Multiple shot and Homing arrow is still the greatest coolest bowskills of any game in game history. So much fun! See those waves of arrows.. Fun, i think i am sorry to say, might be a tad lacking when it comes to playing ranger in GW2.
Were is my camouflage/hide in the shadows/cloak/blend in with nature? Poisen arrows, etc.
The druid in D2 was so much fun, their shapeshifting could have been a bit more powerful. But the norn shapeshifting (i am norn ranger) i just.. i dont want to even describe it. It should be fun and viable, but it isnt. It cant be kept up permanently and has looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong recharge^^ Its really just a gimmic not worth its space in the skillbar.
I heard the ranger was two classes put into one and perhaps the best of both worlds suffer a bit from that.
(edited by Avathor.1849)
Using Muddy terrain, cripple from dagger, stun/cripple/kd from pets should be a viable way for closing the gaps.
Using the Jungle Spider that has Entangling Web and Paralyzing Venom is a good choice for you if you want to fight melee agains fleeing opponents.
I play alot of pvp in the mists and i notice when i meet a good player. The other proffesions can beat me, although more rarely unless the player is good^^ I also nail nine out of ten rangers i meet (actually i think i just lost twice to other rangers in a fair one-on-one fight were both are prepared. One guy had 3 spirits^^ that cought me totally off guard lol).
What i am looking for is the proof from anet that if your good then you can beat all proffesions, because it should be about skills. What i experience is that in most cases it is true. Some warriors, guardians, etc can beat me even if i am prepared for them, although more rarely. But the mesmer and assasin gives me kind of the same feeling as i got back in the old days with the necro bloodspike-gvg teams. A bunch of 6 year olds laughing while hitting their buttons and pwn even the most experienced of teams. That made me rageleave GW for half a year. No skills, only builds. I dont want this to be all over again. This game is either about playerskills, as anet states it is, or its not. If not i rather play pve with my ranger and just choose only the OP-class in pvp. Why make life harder then needed.
Well, despite everything, i do alright. But with no conditionremoval, no stunbreaker, elite-Entangle actually MISS opponents.. how can a spell from the ground miss? Does it have anything to do with skills? Our downed state is the worst. Alot of times when alot of opponents around and i got my target ready for the last two arrows before i kill then auto-aim will choose another target at the back of the enemy line and in the lagg that occurs i cant point the mouse to the first target= cheap getaway for them.
All i am saying is try for yourself, and youll see.
As i said, i do well most of the time. But when some assasin or mesmer comes with 6 phantasms all you can do is run, or die. And you run, and your crippled, and you limp, and your dead. Thanks^^
Go to the Mist and try 8 vs 8 battles.
WwW is almost like pve and doesnt really count. Rangers are ok there hiding behind the zerg with ranged weapons^^ But it really isnt pvp were you try your skill and proffesion towards others.
I play alot of pvp and i do alright, really. But.. Try fight mesmers with 6 illusions out when your bow has a life of its own, always aiming for the least worthy target. Or try fight an assasin that has half a clue about stealth. Try limp your way out of battle, were other classes can remove conditions, stealth, teleport, speedboost, etc out of trouble. When your downed, you got the worst skills of them all, oh btw the pet is dead and too slow anyways. Were the other people can cloak, teleport, go as mist, blah blah blah all you got is a 2 sec delay cause of the daze-skill, then dead. Thats all it. To be ranger you need to be uberx10 to do decent.
It just isnt fun. Your bow autoaims, you controlskills just dont work 50% when you need them to and your basically a sitting duck.
Enjoy!
Title says it all. Just give it a go for 30 min all of you, then you can change the ranger as needed. Cause for sure, it is needed.
PS! Dont panic if you suck terribad, it is just the profession.
Thank you
Avathor
I rather have them make us rangers some neat 1-hand and 2-hand crossbows. They could act more like our shotguns and pistols.
But i think the type of shaman/Druid/Beastmaster you look for would be cool as new proffesion.. Could possibly have more pets, like 3-5 of them were one is elite. And summon whirlwinds and such. Hmm..
I agree with OP and most people here really. Rangers need some love, and the pet system need to be taken care of.
I think dmg-wise its ok with rangers with their best pets. But Rangers makes me rarely smile when i use rangerskills animation-wise, as i imagine the thieves do when in stealth, etc.. And the pets that cant really keep up with my targets or is dead is just depressing! I rather not pay attention to the pets.
So Anet, please..
1. The ranger has a pet. I want to like (love?) it.
If the pet, as already suggested in a post in this thread, tries to always get behind or on the side of the enemies it would be GREAT! It would trigger at least three benefits: Pets can make more critical or bleeding if from the side/behind, so the enemy would need to pay attention to it, or soak it up.. If the enemy turns towards it then the ranger shortbow can actually make the monsters bleed more. It will loosen the aggro towards the ranger a bit. And finally the pet wil get way less dmg if the monsters keep their focus on the player. Then the pet is an intelligent ally! THAT would put a huge smile on my face!
Also, the pets need to be able to soak some more dmg through more HP and thoughness i think.
The different pets should have the same amount of life (a bit less if ranged), weather it is a pig, bear, cat or dog, cause this is a RPG-MMO and the RPG stands for Role Playing Game, and that implies that it actually matters to be able to choose what kind of pet you got.. I want to look good in my uber armor, but then i got this pig at my feets because it might have the stats/skill i look for.. no good. At least it doesnt help making me love pets more^^
It would also be lovely if we could choose which eliteskill the pet is using, from the existing eliteskills. It sure would make me like my pet so much more if i can choose. And the pet could just use it of its own, as the first thing it does, and on every recharge = No more F2 stress for me.
And.. i miss my white tiger from GW. .
2. Spirits. As of today they are practically useless. How many rangers use them?
I would like to put up one spirit. And it should be the one i feel is the best for me and my team for the situation/build. One spirit is enough. Three rangers could put up three spirits and be more popular in end-game dungeons. And please make it easy, fun and practical. Let me put it up more or less on recharge, and perhaps even make a dedicated skillslot for it, instead of the pet-skill. That way it would feel like a lovely addition.
3. I would love to have one skill that has more power and geist to it and that also looks awsome (animation) like the Burning Arrow from GW. With poisen, weakness and burning..! Nice stuff..!
I would feel more like a powerful marksman with that then with the Hunter’s Shot/Concussion Shot as of today.
4. The warrior and thief got better looking skills with the bow then the ranger. I suggest to just remove the bow from them to begin with! And let us have their skills in, lets say, a Recurve bow and a (one-hand/two-hand) Cross bow..! That means we can have some cool new weapons also. The warrior has his shotgun and the thieves have pistols, so no need to steal our signature ranged weapon! I would love to have a one-handed crossbow like in D3, with the thieves skills on it, in one hand and a warhorn in the other^^ THAT would put a smile on my face..
Ok, enough from me for now
(edited by Avathor.1849)
It should be easy to fix this for anet. Just remove the animation that is special for the shortbow. Why is it there in the first place.
Some of you guys are definately on rocketfuel of some sort. High energy and high adrenalin boosting through huge games in five hours focused more on how fast and efficient you guys reach the end then calm the kitten down and enjoy more aspects of it. I guess this is how i remember the kitten-pvp-guys from Gw. No sense of the beauty and depth it seems. I am not calling you spoiled brats, because of course i cant call you any negative words; so i dont call you spoiled brats..!
Do you have any reason to not trust the guys that made GW original? You cant give them a little time to catch their breath before they surely will continue to make this game epic? Did any of you not hear them say that their wish is to make this game an esport? Do you think pvp is not in their priorities? REALLY?
I am not calling you all spoiled kittening brats. Just “high in demand, and no sense of the hard work that is being put down for you to soon enjoy”.
But you know.. leave.. let the guys that enjoys the game in more ways enjoy it all. Let us play the uber pvp that is obviously coming. You can read about it in all the magazines while desperately trying to find some other game that is better.
Or calm the kitten down and do something else then your usual rut. Try all the professions. Master more then one. Perfect your prefered one. Get ready for what is coming.
Have some well deserved patience with anet.
Or, you know.. just leave.
GUYS! Seriously.. Knowing anet and what they did for GW.. Do you really think they will deliver less with GW2? Seriously..? I mean.. do any of you have any reason to doubt anet for not making this game better every day, in all directions? Seriously?
This game is just released, really. Given the size and the content it should be enough until now. And if you guys, like me, read between the lines, well.. even read the lines.. you would know that anet is working on loads of stuff! LOADS!! But they cant keep commenting on every step because like they said, it steals time from them to actually make the stuff. Yes, sure they could tell us more, but really.. is it necessary? You dont believe they are doing all they can to produce this game to be the most epic ever?
There are things that should be fixed and there are stuff that is missing. But come on.. have faith! For sure it will all be here. No game in history of this size and quality was ever this polished and promising at release date, FOR SURE!
We will all have our bread and eat it to!
I totally like the idea of getting tokens for completing all hearts/poi`s and waypoints in a map, instead of armor thats never any good!! At the end, perhaps we can use them for “Wayfarers Items”.. Weapons or armor.. Tyria Wayfarers Weapon/Armor..
Throwing knives and Shurikens for Thief can be cool.
Also 2-hand crossbow for ranger, or double 1-handed crossbow for ranger/thief. (1-hand crossbow with dagger/sword/axe in other = Ubercool).
Thieves could perhaps have Sai-weapons as switch to go defensive and a pain to hit while they counter you also. And to be honest a Ninja sword could be great. I know they are now called thieves, but they are still ninja-assasins in my eyes, and i like those lol:) After all, i think the thieves give better ninja-game then Assasins creed!)
Just remember that your new char need to be same armortype.. Cant make heavy into medium
One more idea.. To make more set skills for the weapons. Say.. you can choose between 2-3 templates (templet like in ready made skillset like of today) of skills for each weapon/set to choose between. And even in the future possibly we could get the option to change the second skill from “template 1” with the second skill from “template 2” and third skill from T1 with the third skill from T2.. That way you can balance the skills more easy, knowing the power in each template, but also provide a bit more creative choice for the players. Just saying..

The game is awsome!! No doubt! And of course it has some areas that can/should be improved. After all, the game is huuuge and has tons of contents, and its brand new:)
I agree with critickitten in some of his points. Especially how the lore for items can be made/improved, and also the personal story.
I am level 80 now and still havent done the dungeons for my story.. It is sad. I cant do the dungeons by myself just with the help of the guys/NPC`s from the story? I need to bring in some strangers from outside the dungeoun, in MY story..? And we fail cause it sucks. Wow.. So not fun.. Besides, i needed to interrupt my story to do other stuff so i got the levels right for each “episode”. When i go for “next episode” i even forgot what i do there and really.. who are those people talking to me?^^ That to me just isnt cool at all. I really wanted a story i would level up appropriately in as i go along and the heroes i talk with would be my adequate squad in the dungeons (storymode), not needing some random guys. :/
I love that the legendary weapons has special features in them! But why not make it more lore and less like a puzzle to get them. More exciting and less technical, i would say..
Get the shaft from doing special mission for the X-people. Then defeat some veteran X-monster to get the essence to make the particular shine to the blade.. etc. That is more cool! I think that you could even make dungeons that spawns one legendary from time to time (rarely), like winning the main prize in the multimillion lottery! And it is SUPER UNIQUE in the game.. Only yours.. WOW..!!!
And one thing, if i should add just one more thing right now it is that it seems to me that the mosters are scattered around the world with exactly 20 feet apart in all directions. Rarely is there areas you can just run. I feel that this land is so nice and i love to run and watch it..! But if someone is crippling me every 5 seconds it is a bit hassle.. perhaps remove some critters in areas that can be more open and nice. After all, you made a STUNNING NICE GAME! I want to just enjoy it sometimes
Much love and appreciation from me!
I think mounts are a great idea! This world is so big, and when Cantha and Elona comes.. even more ground to cover.
To make mounts out of different animals and different styles inspired from the different instances would be awsome!
To make a world of its own, a “bonus world” were the mounts are important and perhaps even can fly, and fight and/or you can fight while mounted it would be awsome!..
So many things that can be done to make this game even more epic. No need to stop creativity and the fun..
So there need to be limitations. You cant ride in town. You cant battle from them, or just in certain places. Who knows. But for sure it can be made in a way that is great for everyone! I really love swimming in this game and hear and see underwater.. it is amazing! And for sure, having mounts could give that same bonus experience on land/air as well.
And think of it.. When something happens in your area.. Event, or other..! And we all get our mounts up and gogogo..! We get to the action faster and way cooler!

It seems to me that our ranger has a very narrow field of vision, more like a racehorse with blinders. And if your target falls out of the 30/30 field of vision you either miss or stop firing.. You can test this by shooting at practise target: Turn slowly to the right and to the left and notice when your autoattack stops shooting. Now the problem is that the closer you get to your target, the more precise you need the target to appear right infront of you.. if just slightly to the left or right.. you miss.
I also notice that if you use a shootingskill while your target is not in this narrow field of vision the skill appears to be “interrupted”. It just fails with some time to recharge to it. Very strange and very annoying. because i rather have the character to autoturn to your selected target and then fire then to “sorry your character didnt look directly at your selected target so you fail”.
To be honest, shooting with a bow feels sometimes like peing with a morning kitten^^ Hard to handle
My experience is that up to all levels to 80 it is better to get alot of health and survival. And as long as you upgrade all your stuff every 10-15 levels through bying it in BL (and if you do it smart it is like playing with exotic gear all the way to lvl 80 for only some few silver..) Get HP-gear as priority 1!!
Then condition dmg, crit dmg and all that isnt really that important until level 80. You are free to experiment, and you should. Get a high crit gear and try it out for some 10-15 lvls. Then get condition dmg gear and try that out. You dont really go that much wrong.
Personally i dont like glasscannons. When you get closer to level 60-80 you will find that you die alot, and it isnt fun. Do you really want to sacrifice your life in order to hopefully kill one second faster?^^ Make your ranger as sturdy as possible, and with nice bow you get the job done in lower levels. Actually what i find is that the pet helps alot in dmg in 1vs1 situations also.
