[Merged] Cultural Human T3 Not Exclusive

You shouldn’t blame the developers and testers – these people work hard and (most likely) are always under the command of a superior, who is under the command of another superior, and so on. Big decisions such as this one come from people who have distanced themselves from the game itself and only think about the business side of things.

I’ve personally stopped playing a while ago, but not because of this. I always wanted the best things from GW and they haven’t arrived yet. Maybe they never will. And GvG, duelling, leveling zones with world pvp – those might not ever be implemented in GW2. I wanted to see HoH, UW and FoW re-makes, but I am 99% sure it will not happen. It’s quite the let down.

Anyway, this Gem Store failure is absolutely not going to draw me back into the game. On the contrary, I have no plans of returning. I remember that I worked to get my human t3 set, and that I also had to transmute it. It’s enough that the items aren’t even sold with free transmutation (AS THEY SHOULD.), but they had to surgically remove any remaining worth this set had. Maybe some people don’t care about such notions, but this decision was made by an unqualified person, one that had little to no experience.

Chat mute overkill.

Looks like my criticism was too negative and the ‘Forum Moderator’ didn’t like it to his preferences, so let’s go through this again.

1. Wrote ‘LFG’ messages 3 times in a row, with at least 20-30 seconds in between them.
2. Chat suppression system muted me for over 20 minutes on my fourth attempt, leaving me to ‘enjoy’ my time ‘playing’ this game, while being completely unable to find a new group for the time being.
3. Logged out, only to return in half an hour and discover that my suppression is still active. And I can’t stress this enough: I wrote no more than 3 messages in a row, none of which were written one after another in a spam/flood manner. That’s the reason I was unable to interact with neither public, nor map chat for more than 20 minutes.

How is this fair? I have no idea, I really don’t . How is this system working properly? It isn’t. I’ve discussed this problem with fellow players and guildmates, and of course – all of them have been through it at least a few times. All of them told me that they deal with it by just waiting it out.

Now, can someone explain to me how is this process justified? What does constitute spam in Anet’s dictionary? Looking for group is obviously one of those things.

The game literally forced me to outsource my desire to find a group (to play GW2) towards websites like gw2lfg. This is how it is. Write your LFG more than 3 times in between a minute or two, and eat this stick of mute for 20+ minutes, because somehow as a player who spent ~4k hours on GW and is on his way to 1k hours in GW2 – this is what you had coming to you.

So this is my suggestion: Fix the chat suppression system, or provide us with some kind of dependable LFG system which can be found INGAME, not on websites. You know, as mmos from 10 years ago have it.

Hope this thread is bright sugary enough not to get deleted again.

The undead do appear now, but after I reached the end I was stuck on the final part when I need to report to the NPCs. It seems that I talked to some of them too soon, right before the cutscene should appear, so somehow that bugged it and I never actually got the scene. It worked on the 3rd time, when I just waited a bit longer before talking to the NPCs.

The way damage dealt is displayed!?

BFNK.6748

Hi, everyone.

As an elementalist, at one point I thought that my Fiery Greatsword was dealing 600+800+1000+1200 damage with its main auto attack. God, was I wrong. I then realized, that all this time I was thinking these numbers represent the individual damage of each attack, while in reality they were actually showing me how damage was building up for o single attack. Meaning I was doing 1200 damage in total.

I find this very confusing, as it turned out that it applies for the way my auto dagger attack worked (in fire), dealing only 300 damage, for example, rather than 300+300+300.

Do any of you guys think this is very misleading? At least for new players. Some of the tooltips are also extremely unclear, which is actually kind of cool – you get to ‘explore’ your own abilities, learning new things over time.

For instance, I recently found out that my Meteor Shower inflicts Vulnerability to my targets with each Meteor hit. This is not stated anywhere in the tooltip, nor is the total effective duration of the spell. As it turns out, if I stop casting it mid-cast – it will still go off, throwing less meteors than a full-cast Meteor Shower. I always thought this was an overlooked bug and that there is no difference. There is no way for a new player to ever know about this, unless they stumble upon it or get told about it. And then they might think it’s a bug, like I did. They might even be afraid to use it due to that reason, because of the fear of bans (lmao).

Can we at least expect some sort of a wiki update or a dedicated tutorial page for these things, if the tooltips are to remain so bland?

Thanks for reading.

Plans to open up racial armor for all races?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

Yes, it’s true that opening all of these armors to every race will result in uniformity, but currently most T1 and T2 cultural sets are just… well… crappy. Actually, most of the armor sets doesn’t strike me with anything too amazing. I am not trying to sound like an kitten, just look at the sets from Guild Wars 1 – they are gorgeous. Either they fired some very talented people, or the designers just got swept in a tasteless direction. In order to back up my argument – here are some examples:

Necro – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/b/b9/Necromancer_Elite_Profane_armor_m.jpg
Warrior – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/9/97/Warrior_Elite_Gladiator_armor_f.jpg
Monk – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/c/cd/Monk_Labyrinthine_armor_f.jpg
Another necro – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/0/04/Necromancer_Elite_Necrotic_armor_m.jpg
One of my top favorites, Water ele – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/8/8c/Elementalist_Elite_Iceforged_armor_f.jpg

And then, the FoW armor sets (later ranamed to the less tasteful ‘Obsidian’ Armor)
Ele – http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/5/5a/Elementalist_Obsidian_armor_f.jpg
The rest – http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Obsidian_armor

The armors I’ve listed are from the very beginning of GW, so they are very outdated. Imagine how they could look right now, in GW2. But we still don’t have them…

The current choice is just poor, not because we don’t have as many options, but rather because most of these options suck.

That is of course impossible. I’ve tried doing this with a back item – I wanted to get an Engineers starting Tookit backpack and slap it on my Elementalist – it failed. On the other hand – it worked with Necromancer starting helms, for instance. I could get the skull/ blue eyes on my ele. The problem with racial armors is probably that they have only been designed for the certain races’ body types. If you remember – people could preview and transmute those a while ago and a ton of players were running completely naked because of a bug (missing textures).

Hey. I remember the talks about Guild Wars 2, a while before the actual release and betas. During one of the Q&A sessions someone asked about armors and your team replied something in the lines of: “…in Guild Wars 2 you can look exactly like you want to. If you want to look like a homeless person – you can, and you will be just as efficient as others are…”

Well… So far I haven’t seen any clothing that resembles a homeless person’s clothing. Dyes were supposed to be account wide according to your promises, yet they aren’t – that’s fine, I guess. But what happened to the bum set?

Anyways, my real question is about racial cultural armor – can it ever be made available for all races? I don’t see why not. It makes complete sense since any of these races are theoretically capable of putting clothes on. From a logical point of view – there are no contradictions. I am a somewhat casual-looking white guy, but no one is stopping me from dressing up like a black hip-hop star, right?

In my view if you expand on armors like I have mentioned – things will only get better. Models will probably need some considerable amounts of tweaking, but it would be pretty great.

I’m writing this since all of those talks left me with a certain impression in mind – that we will have (almost) full cosmetic freedom. I can understand if a cloth character is not able to wear plate armor, but this one-race-only thing is not so nice to be honest.

Prototype Fractal Capacitor - no healing?

I was very excited about finally getting an exotic back item with healing power, even began collecting my 1,350 tokens. Then I actually noticed something weird – there is no Prototype Fractal Capacitor with the Healing Power stat… What’s with that? Why did you design the rewards like that, completely ignoring one of the important stats?

Plans for the next patch include a (hopefully) decent update to all dungeons, making them DESIRABLE ways to spend your in-game time. Let’s just hope these aren’t the type of promises we saw for rangers, or another nerf to fun or Elementalists.

BFNK.6748

Upset the economy? Another judgement call? Is this how you call this?

I understand how one single farm path should not overtake the charts, but you are taking the completely wrong approach here. I was actually having fun! In Arah! This dungeon is hardly any fun to do as a whole, not to mention how hard it can be to get into. The dungeon had two awesome features – the jumping-over part, where people actually made EFFORTS to make a single jump and some would spend a considerable amount of time trying to do it properly, and the part where you could just run these two bosses and avoid the repulsive journey to the end. You removed both.

I was excited, I knew I was going to make some good coin and have some fun. It just seems like you promised a completely different story, not a scenario in which you subtly force players into playing your crappy dungeon to the full extend. People with tons of money are just going to keep making huge profits by buying in bulk and selling later at price spikes. And the casual player who hasn’t got so much spare time is condemned to never feel enriched. This dungeon is just not fun and reducing rewards is not making it more fun. Instead of removing loot you could’ve added more exciting things to Arah, make it more compelling. But that would be to advanced for the time we’re living in.

Arah is essentially unreachable

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

A radical, yet clever change needs to happen. As particular areas become more desolate in terms of player population – these events become less dependable, often leaving a dungeon closed for long periods of time. This affects all of the Karma vendors – how often have you seen temple of Lyssa or Balthazar up? While overcoming these obstructions can be a lot of fun, having them stop you from entering a dungeon is not. These events should aid the flow of things, not hinder it.

I believe it would be much better to have a constantly secured entrance to explorable version of the dungeons, and have the story mode entrance require a dynamic event to open. This way players who don’t want to waste time can just do what they really want to do. Have the events as an option for XP mode and a requirement for story mode.

Or just fix these broken events so that the entrance is not closed most of the time…

BFNK.6748

Dear Anet

It’s been mighty hard to get into Arah recently. The whole event system is fun and dynamic, but this also means that we are often left locked out of Arah. When the event bugs out (which happens often) – we cannot open the door, not until a server restart happens. Today I tried to form party with a couple of guys from another server. When we tried to walk in through them – we got the ‘Network error’ message after pressing ‘enter’.

I’ve been having great trouble getting into Arah ever since the Fractals dungeon was introduced. I understand that the attention of players has been drawn elsewhere, but I still manage to find enough people for a party, which makes no difference whatsoever. There are so many obstructions – why don’t you change it a little bit so that players have more freedom when it comes to deciding when and which dungeon to do? I don’t find any of the issues I’m having fun or entertaining, so what’s the point of all this?

An option for Dueling - not even planned?

in PvP

BFNK.6748

Somehow the Anet team have made some decisions that go against the flow of logic. Their game is very awesome, the betas looked very promising and it appeared that this game is about giving you the best in every possible MMO way. The devs have accomplished this to SOME extend, but some of the design just doesn’t make any sense.

I am just trying to understand this. I will present my case by giving you a couple of examples of my own experiences while participating in the Random Arenas.

Apparently hardly anyone is joining these maps anymore, it might be the timezone, it might be the fact that most players have probably dedicated their time to tPVP only, or people are just bored, I don’t know, but I am entering random arenas on my own, or with 1 or 2 more people very often.

This is, of course, presenting me with a couple of opportunities. One of these is to quit the map and just give up on doing arenas at that particular moment of time, while the other one is to try and conduct some 1v1 pvp, if it’s possible.

So far I’ve had the most fun in pvp while dueling. I am not trying to exaggerate here, doing consequent 1v1 fights has brought a ton of pleasure on my table. Everything comes together here – even the downed state makes perfect sense and can be a true changer of a duel’s outcome.

One of the nights I ended up in a map with 2 other people, of which 1 was a thief in my team and the other one was an elementalist from the opposing team. He explained that he didn’t want to do any duels with a thief because it didn’t make sense. I replied that he will never get any better if he doesn’t try, to which he responded: “But this guy is actually pretty good.”

Eventually the map changed and the ele left, leaving me (as an Ele) and the thief. We decided to do duels and it was great fun! We fought for an hour or so. Our duels very balanced most of the time, while some ended in seconds. Whenever I was writing something in the chat or didn’t pay attention – the thief would 1-2 shot me. But when we were both paying attention the duels were long and very intense. A few times we were so close to killing each other, that we would both go into downed state at the same time, escaping to a safe distance, healing ourselves up and then continuing our fight.

It was amazing and I’ve had several of these experiences. This can never happen in a team environment and I am just trying to understand how can ArenaNet refuse to integrate a Dueling option in our game? What’s with that, seriously? This is like walking by a bag of gold ingots and just passing it by, ’cause you are in a rush to go think of something to nerf.

I don’t get why this still isn’t in the game and I don’t even want to talk about the lack of GvG, it will just make everyone sad again.

So could someone from Anet be so kind as to answer my question:

Why don’t we have the amazing, awesome feature of dueling, which will only bring unbelievable fun and happiness to all the players of Guild Wars 2?

Why are we still not getting our hotfix?

BFNK.6748

A few days have passed since the last patch and we still haven’t seen even a single red post regarding our class. No one is insulting anyone here, I’m just wondering why the communication has been brought down to a level of zero?

We have accepted the consequences of our nerfs, but it’s a bit over the top to bring us nerfs + new bugs or just ingore the bugs we’ve been having since early betas. I don’t get it, isn’t it possible to hire more people to work on this? Or one PR person to go around forums and actually talk to us, give us some info regarding what’s going with each class?

Why are we still not getting our hotfix?

in Elementalist

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

My question is very simple: why haven’t we seen a hotfix for elementalist bugs? Rangers had their trap CD increased by a double, and got a hotfix hours after the patch release.

Here is an example of what players have reported:

  • Magnetic Grasp is not fixed as you have stated (still locks player into stun);
  • Dragon Tooth does not produce a Blast Finisher effect, while the tooltip clearly states it does;
  • Scepter’s Air Main attack continues to bug and lock itself into an endless channeled attack, producing the noise effect as well.

Can we expect these issues to ever get addressed by you? Or more particularly, can we expect you to take care of them sooner rather than later?

So, no more blasts on evasive arcana [Merged]

in Elementalist

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

You can’t ignore the fact that Evasive Arcana was too powerful and mighty like it was. Don’t get me wrong – I completely understand your frustration as this build introduced some new levels of fun for me. Dodging is mostly a good feeling in any case. Having a blast finisher along with it also brought an amazing deal of pleasure, no argument there. But… it was still imba when used with all the proper gear, traits and rotation. I was throwing unbelievable amounts of boons and heals for my party and it was all done on a fresh lv 80 toon, w/o full exotic gear or any of the runes for boon duration. In some cases I was able to get to 25 stacks of might and when my group was consisted of 2 or 3 melee chars – it was a great improvement.

When you scrutinize it you realize that it did too much:

  • Blasts without an internal cooldown;
  • The ability to produce AoE boons for might, swiftness, regeneration, protection, resilience, frost armor, an AoE heal, AoE conditions;
  • It actually closed the gap for melee characters in dungeons. You know how everyone is complaining about melee toons always being at disadvantage in PvE – this trait improved on this by a lot;
  • In combination with staff this trait provides TOO much support out of one character. In reality this build was superior to a 30/30/x glass cannon build, making the actual full-on-dps build not viable. Why would you roll it, when you can still deal large amounts of dps and have the best support for your team? In other words it summarized the PvE state of the class with one build, which is never a good sign of balance.

I side by you on your quest to get a response from Anet. I don’t expect them to roll back the changes, but I am surely interested enough in reading a blog post, or a simple forum post by them, explaining the reasoning behind their decisions so far. They have done that before and it works well. Some of us cannot simply grasp the depth of an MMO’s balance. Some reason will emerge as soon as they make an effort to communicate with the classes they’ve affected. It’d be wonderful if the dev team wrote in the forums to all classes on a more regular basis.

Tornado/Whirlpool: Crappiest Elite Skill

in Elementalist

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

I have to admit that tornado can be useful but this only applies in very specific scenarios. I’ve found the Firesword and Golem Glyph to be much, much better overall in any case.

The tornado can probably save someone from imminent death, but at the same time (in PvE) it will do the opposite of what your team usually wants and push mobs away in random directions. You want them balled up, not 5 meters away from each other.

I’ve also found targeting while in tornado mode to be near impossible… I can hardly ever tell when my attacks will hit for sure. The boulder push-back seems to have a slower projectile than the usual boulder you find in dungeons and around the world, and I’ve hardly ever (if ever) seen my blind ability work. The spell definitely needs some original improvements, it’s hardly any good as it is.

I hit 80 y-day and it’s been fun. There isn’t such a great difference, as I expected. I still need to update a part of my gear, of course.

The sword is still not bad, honestly. It can be better, but it’s not bad. I am not the type of person to stick to one spec only, so I started trying out different builds to see what works and what not. Given that Orr is a zone that requires a specific spec, I know a glass cannon won’t do well there, which worked for 90% of the other zones. The risen are things that don’t make any sense what-so-ever, they will outrun you with rotten legs, they will outshout you without even having the required organs needed for speech, they will zerg you and they will hardly ever ball up into a comfortable space for AoE goodness.

With the sword you can actually control their positioning much easier, because your whirlwind skill pushes you far away, which will ensure that some of the mobs will follow you in a straight line. The attacks are ranged (600 range, I think) and you can kite and dps them without any trouble, crippling them 100% of the time. And no, what that guy said about all of the items disappearing was not true, don’t trust the ‘information’ he provides. A warrior’s banner will never disappear after a drop, for example. They are practically the same thing – a conjured elite, which can be picked up and used by others. Only the Ele’s conjured weapons are the only ones that disappear after being dropped, which needs to be fixed.

I can foresee a bunch of elementalist balance changes with the next patch and I am pretty sure at least one of them will be regarding the conjured weapons.

I'm going to delete my lvl 80 ele

in Elementalist

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

You won’t impress anyone by deleting your character, not only that but you will later on regret it (when you realize that you can own people with Elementalist). You have to combine ALL of your spells to the best extend.

My advice to you is to go visit HotM, then play around with toughness gear. Having more than 2500 toughness will change things. As elementalist you are obliged to mitigate as much of the damage as you can, and with this class you can actually do that.

Some classes will own you but that only happens if you allow it. Most builds revolve around 1 or 2 key skills that you need to counter at the right moment. The tricky thing is that as an Ele you practically don’t have much space for error. If you f* up your timings you will be beaten.

To be honest the class is awesome, while the PvP system is boring. WvWvW is quite pathetic and absolutely isn’t about skill, while the arenas don’t even bring as much as fun as Random Arenas used to in the first game.

I can relate to your uneasiness, as I was a dedicated GW1 player myself and used to love the Ele class there. It’s a shame that so many marvelous mechanics from the first game were thrown away in the garbage bin. This is what happens when you ignore your original fanbase and focus on reaching out to foreign players (WoW, etc.). Now the game is in a state of rapid decline in terms of population.

TL;DR: Don’t give up on your class, unless you are kitten.

Meet staff. Great aoes, bigger range and doesn’t disappear. Oh, and if mobs are dodging your staff attacks(weird, doesn;t happen to me all that often), why are they so happily standing in a line so you can hit them with FGS?

This was, of course, referring to PvP combat. Yes, meet PvP, where people do dodge and can avoid your staff attacks easily. I’ve played my ele in PvP a lot more than I’ve in PvE; leveling it to 80 is just an extension of the initial idea – to do PvP. Going through the leveling process has been of great use as I’ve learned a lot more about the class, things I otherwise would have missed. So obviously I’ve used all the possible weapon combinations and what they do, you don’t need to be a smartass about it.

Ofc, the spell has its good sides, nobody is denying that. And it has its bad sides. But the issues you have with it aren’t really part of it. The spell is supposed to do disappear after some time or under certain conditions, the twin is supposed to be pick-able by allies. It’s the same for all conjured weapons. I can understand it being frustrating the first time it happens, but once you figure out how the spell works, you should learn how to use it(like, not cast it before going for a swim and stuff….). Lastly, it’ll make the class more enjoyable for you, not in general.

Perhaps you are the type of person that accepts things as they are more readily than others, but I am looking for improvement. You can either have logic or not have it. It’s logical to lose the weapon when underwater, but why would you be able to cause the burning condition there? You can in fact inflict it, no matter how much it doesn’t make any logical sense. If you believe that asking for the option to PICK UP your sword after it has been dropped for any given reason is asking for too much – then there is no reason not to believe you only came here for the arguing and disagreement just for the sake of it.

There are some traits for conjured weapons(charge increase and stuff), but they don’t benefit from elemental traits…because they aren’t part of that element…

There is exactly one dedicated trait for conjured weapons and it’s called ‘Conjurer’ (very original) for 10 more charges. Excluding the shared traits, which grant boons or conditions, (things that you get from all kinds of other kitten) it’s a single trait devoted to 5 weapons, each corresponding to the relevant element, because after all they are elemental weapons. Compare that to the amount of traits for cantrips, for example. The conjured weapons deal (or rather are supposed to deal) elemental damage. They create the corresponding combo circles, and it is absolutely logical to expect them to benefit from elemental traits. If not – why not give us random wooden weapons, or something that wouldn’t suggest ‘elemental’? Kind of boring if it’s all about aesthetics. A total of five conjured weapons share only one trait, so why wouldn’t I expect them to benefit from the rest of my talents? A ton of things already provide me with endless regeneration and burning, so that’s not really impressive or that useful at all ( if you decide to point out Soothing Wave or Burning Fire).

No, I know about the different storms and showers, this refers to the auto attack (1) – Flame Wave. If you line up your foes in a straight line, stand next to the 1st one and face the last mob (so that it makes an actual line) – your balls (of fire) will hit all of them, to the extend of the balls themselves. It’s practically piercing arrows with fireballs. This will reap havoc and if you manage to ball all of your foes up – you will just crush them. I’ll elaborate on this with the proper spec and gear at lv 80, I’d like to think that it won’t scale badly in terms of DPS.

I have to admit – I actually thought it was dealing the sum of those numbers, not following up on how much damage have you done so far with the spell. Looks like I have totally missed out on this mechanic. This doesn’t change what I initially wrote – I still think the spell has to be improved in the way it works. If you accidentally end up in water, or simply want to swim on the surface to the other side – the spell will end,
and it will be a premature end.

Furthermore, the opening of my post suggests I like the spell. If I was not satisfied with it – I wouldn’t be using it, nor writing a thread about it. But the problems can be very disheartening and I don’t see anything wrong with pointing them out. The part that I ‘never said’ is still not there, quoting me won’t make it magically appear there. This is not a thread made to rant about a spell ending. Read through and you will realize that such comments are unnecessary and untrue.

But what is mostly out of place here is your attitude towards this spell – some made jokes about it, they never use it nor like it. I, on the other hand, do use it and find it very pleasant. I haven’t tried it at lv 80 and with proper gear – but plan to do so in due time, as soon as I level my toon.

The AoE aspect of the sword is superb – you can’t achieve that with any other spell. The only thing I can compare it to is the Piercing Arrows trait of the ranger (R being my main). If you have 10 mobs in a straight line – you can damage all of those 10 mobs simultaneously, dealing tons of damage. You can also cripple them in the same manner. The staff’s aoe attacks can be easily dodged, they are slowish and will never be on par with the AoE side of the sword. I believe the spell has its implications, and fixing all of those small issues will only make the class much more enjoyable. I don’t understand if you don’t realize that or just came here to start a flaming discussion with no end to it.

I also forgot to mention that as far as I know the conjured weapons don’t profit from traits – cooldowns don’t really change if you trait for 20% reduction, and so on.

@TWMagimay : You are free to twist my words as much as you can or want to, although that’s highly irrelevant. In no part of my post have I said my problem is that my elite skill ends at some point. I explained thoroughly that it ends prematurely, (I bet you know what that words means ( get it?)) and this is caused by numerous external factors, not just one.

@TheWarKeeper: Whether the skills is underpowered or not (it is) is just as irrelevant. First of all I’d like to see it properly work. At level 60 the sword’s auto attack throws 4 fireballs. They usually deal somewhere around 300+400+600+1200 damage for each auto attack, all in AoE with a larger area of effect than the daggers, for instance. I have 20 swings x 4 fireballs each for each sword. I don’t know how you play, but the sole damage of the auto-attack and the gap-closer spell on 3 are more than enough to kill a huge bunch of mobs, even with 2 veterans alongside them, and evade them at all times.

Now unless you have something constructive to say – feel free to not write at all. I won’t cry too loud about your absence, don’t worry.

I finally got to use the ‘Conjure Fiery Greatsword’ elite, and it has been a blast. With this in my hands I am able to destroy everything in my path, it’s really great. But could someone explain to me what is the point of having to actually lay your spare 20-charge weapon on the ground, having to go back for it after my initial sword has expired? This makes no sense, it is absolutely annoying and unnecessary. I am always moving in a forward direction, but whenever I use this ability I am actually forced to go back and pick it up. Not just that, if I want to be efficient I need to spawn the spare sword ahead of me, which often gets me unnecessarily murdered by a bunch of mobs, while trying to get the perfect far-away casting distance and not a single bit closer. I have to stand still while casting it, so it often bugs and goes into a 3 second recharge.

The poor sword has no synergy with the rest of my spells – If I ever decide to go underwater – it’s gone. If I ever need to pop mist form – IT’S GONE. If I accidentally pick some random worthless item from the ground – it’s gone. I can’t even leave it on the ground and pick it up later, the way I can with all those hundreds of practically useless tools (shovels, water buckets and whatnot). Not only this, but ANYONE can pick up my spare sword, anyone. I usually wouldn’t mind donating one to a fellow player, but when I have absolutely no choice of keeping it for myself – that is different. The control has been swept away and occasionally my survival depends on pure chance, which is ridiculous if we are to talk about a skill-driven game.

Why has it been so hard for you to just make it possible for the Elementalists to drop and pick up the sword whenever they want to? Or simply spawn one single sword with 20 (40 traited) charges? Why does my sword disappear nowhere to be found as soon as I use my Mist Form? You are punishing me for using my own spells?! And what is most annoying is that I am even being punished if I decide to be FULLY efficient with my sword – that is trying to use mostly the auto-attack, which throws 3-4 fireballs for the price of 1 charge. If I do that – as soon as my sword disappears, which happens just about after 1 minute has passed – my other sword is gone too. So I can’t even use my second charge because apparently I am not supposed to take my time and put my sword into full usage, not if I want to use both swords.

Furthermore, the sound effects… This is beyond comprehension – we (me and a large bunch of other players) are forced to turn off our sound effects, because every now and then the sword’s SFX will start glitching and producing unbearable noises of over-layered sounds, phasing and bugging me out of this world. This, combined with the amazing, most annoying bug of the scepter’s lightning auto-attack , makes playing an elementalist with sound effects turned on impossible. Unless the player is a sonic masochist and really wants to hear all those dying kittens for what seems to be practically 90% of the time. (Most eles roam in air mode for the speed buffs, the scepter will always bug, you can do the math)

I strongly hope that these problems will be fixed with the next patch. I did not write in the bug thread mostly because half of these ‘bugs’ are actually working as you intended them. Having to pick up my sword and losing it like I have described above – this is not a bug but it sure works and feels like one. The elementalist is by far the most fun, versatile and interesting profession to play and such issues do nothing but ruin the adventure for me (and I presume the rest of us, eles).

Please show us some love and make it right!

The U.I. customization options from GW - Will we ever have this in GW2, Anet?

First of all – sorry for re-posting this, I am aware that it has been suggested before. What I do not understand, is why isn’t there a response from ArenaNet regarding this?

The original Guild Wars game had a very nice ‘Customize UI’ option, it wasn’t anything too complex (or hard to use), yet it allowed players to change the quality of their gameplay. Can someone from Anet please give us a simple answer – are we going to get this in Guild Wars 2, or are you willing to allow some kind of modding community to form, so that fellow and skilled players can do that for us instead, by offering relevant 3rd party mods?

I would most definitely love to be able to move up my dodge bar, or place my pet bar vertically on the left side of the screen, below the simplified party section. I’d love to move around some stuff, simply because this will improve the way I play. I strongly feel that we should have the right to do so. I know that you love the interface you’ve managed to create for us, indeed it looks amazing, but adding a customize button will just make it so much better, don’t you agree?

Please Anet, update us on this matter in one way or another… I hope this is not some ‘feature’ left out for future expansions, I feel it should be in the game already.

It really did not seem as something special, this happened only in events around the Orr. I would go around the map and I’d have made at least 2 gold in an hour or so (which is not good at all). Now I strive to make 1 gold per an hour and something. Just now I went around all of SoD to get all the nodes and kill some risenkitten then went and did the same in malchors. My profits are about 1 gold. This is so disappointing, how am I supposed to get the 60g+ cultural t3 set (which HASN’T EVEN GOT MAX STATS) if I don’t play the game every day for at least 5-6 hours, only trying to farm?

Dude, please. I believe I am quite aware of what game this is. If you cannot answer the question – go somewhere else, please.

MF is a valid part of the game, only now it feels that it’s just there to make you invest more resource and time into your playing.

Greetings. I managed to collect enough MF gear to hit a good number of around 135-150% (depending on buffs, etc.), and I remember the moment when I just acquired it and how many yellows I used to get. Just by running around in SoD and doing 3-4 events would get me 3-4 yellows.

Today, yesterday and the day before that, it’s been all crap. Seriously, I feel like I should have never invested in this gear. Had I kept the money spent on MF stats – I’d be AHEAD, instead I am behind. Events no longer provide me with anything. Most of the time I feel like the anti-bot code hits in 10-20 minutes of casual playing around the map. So it makes absolutely no difference if I have 0% MF or 200% MF.

The point of this thread is to ask the rest of the folk with MF stacks – do you feel that the last few days have been worse in terms of all the items you’ve gotten? Is MF now completely worthless and (in a way) a genius gold sink for confused players…?

You are being naive. Players are saying: “we want rewards, as well as the grind-free promises to come true”; Anet’s stand on this is probably something in the lines of “if we actually did that – no one would play the game when they get what they want and realize there is not much else to do”.

Sadly, there are not enough designers apparently. To have the same skin for EVERY instance is still something rather shocking, isn’t it? Yes, I know the expensive ones are different, but most of them are beyond ugly. I play a ranger and my options are limited to one or two sets, the rest are either repulsive and unimaginative, or simply a variation of the same coat-styled crap. I was thrilled to get the pirate outfit when I was a level 20-30, then I realized this skin is used by perhaps 70% of the medium armor models, or more.

The proper way to solve this problem is very, very simple – introduce a vast number of fresh, DIFFERENT skin models. Not the same copy-paste lazyness. If we had a huge pool of choices – then prices would be lower, the freedom of choice – bigger. Maybe throw in something for players that don’t enjoy grinding the same content all the time?

It’s obvious that the lack of variety and attractive skins is all down to the money Anet wants to make. Of course, that is not something bad, although there needs be some kind of balance. Currently almost anything a player can do is limited by anti-farm codes or the sheer lack of motivation to work for something ugly/overpriced.

Broken events around the temples makes it impossible to reach certain karma vendors

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

Can you please update us on what is going on with these dynamic events? I have been meaning to get some of the lyssa/balthazar gear, but it is simply impossible to get the karma vendors to appear. When I decide to enjoy some of the ‘endgame’ content – I usually go to Orr, and often I would stumble upon glitched events and NPCs; it’s very unsatisfying at night time, when you are mostly alone and can’t really do anything rewarding in terms of PvE questing (because working events are scarce, others are bugged and some are group-only). I don’t really mind walking around and killing random mobs, but the undead have gotten very boring, plus some of their lines are ridiculous. Upon closer examination, the risen mostly haven’t got their lower pieces of their jaws, not to mention the probable condition of their organs (needed in order to be able to produce coherent spoken words). But really – ‘Everyone! Come!’ ? Don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Anyways, kind of slid off topic there, apologies. Please fix the high level DEs, it would be absolutely great to be able to travel to Orr and find a vast amount of events, all of them being marked on the map and all of them working.

Why is Anet closing any discussions about Botting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wortermelon – what you are talking about is called denial of free speech, you know that, right? Following the same logic – no one should ever discuss any negative topics (such as murder), since someone might decide to go out and start killing people. Lets not talk about anything other than candy and rainbows!

On the other hand – us discussing botting here won’t really change anything. There is already a ‘report’ button on your Mail tab, use that instead. Though I am frustrated with the fact that I get a ton of mail daily and it’s ALL spam with gold sells. That really sucks, I always hope it’s a lost friend from the past or smth.

Permanent Stow - An Option for Lone Wolves

in Ranger

Posted by: BFNK.6748

BFNK.6748

This is madness! Ranger is an OBVIOUS pet class: the beast is a part of ranger himself in so many ways. Game offers a lot of other “lone wolf” rangers (i.e. warrior, rogues) where you can just shoot and switch between your guns for an eternity. You knew that and still picked a Ranger class. NOW you are complaining pfff…

Please, leave rangers pet alone. ANet, please ignore this whole topic completely. Thanks!

//
I rofl’d. I’m 100% sure that Anet will listen and follow all of your requests and demands!
//

+1 for having this option!

This is not like asking the devs to actually give us a great pet system or some true diversity in skills, it’s simply asking for an option that should have always been there. I also find the pet to be very annoying at times. It manages to hinder me in various ways and the lack of full control combined with low responsiveness can be very frustrating.

PvP traits reset themselves upon entering HoM

Greetings Anet, I hope you are planning to fix this! Sometimes one or two traits become blank, other times they are all blank, usually after a full logout this happens. Please make it so the PvE chars have ‘memory’ of their PvP builds, it is really a pain in the * to have to re-choose them every time I want to do some arenas.
