Don’t forget thumper turret as well if you use it, overcharge it, detonate it, and use it’s toolbelt skill you will have quite a bit of stealth just with that then you have the aforementioned big ol bomb, healing turret detonate, rocket boots, elixir gun 4, rifle 5, or magnetic shield.

I tried this for a few hours today and it was really fun. It is great for messing around and stalling the enemy off of nodes or 1v1 against anyone who doesn’t have allot of stability or cc cancelling effects. I normally run a bit of a node defender/bunker build but this was a nice diversion for a bit.

I am so sorry for the miss understanding on my previous response, that was my typing mistake, the dates I used to verify the report was in deed from 05/24/13 I reviewed from one day before you stated the purchase was made until today 06/30/13, that is over a month of reports with no transactions located, at least not for the items you mentioned, I am sorry for this inconvenience.

Hello,

In update to my previous contact with support I would like to file a bug report. I believe the items missing on this incident are due to something wonky in game. If the logs do not show they were deleted or that the items were lost by another means this is the only logical solution I can come to. Please forward the information through the proper channels to inform whoever checks your bugs of my incident. I will leave this issue with them and ask only that if it is found that there was a bug that caused this, that I be refunded. Otherwise I will chalk this whole experience up to bad luck purchasing items for the first time in an MMO.

Perhaps that is wheere the confusion is. The items would not have been bought on the date of 06/24/2013. That is simply when I noticed them missing ( i believe). The items were purchased around the time gems were bought as I used what was left over after purchasing world transfers each time to buy the items. The dates for purchase as outlined previously would be in the range of 05/25/2013 – 06/07/2013. Sorry to beat a dead horse but if that is truly the miscommunication I had to try to rectify it before giving up. Please let me know if this clarification resolves the issue.

Thank you for reviewing my case. After som digging in my email conversations I found the day in question. Here is a summary of the issue as it stands now in it’s entirety.

I bought gems on 05/25/2013, 06/05/2013, and 06/07/2013. The gems were used to purchase the following items:
-World Transfer
-World Transfer (again)
-A few bank tab increases
-A quaggan plush backpack cover town clothes item
-A Panda hat town clothes item
-A Quaggan Hat town clothes item
-A Casual Hoodie town clothes item
-A Khaki Cargo shorts town clothes item

On 06/24/2013 I am sure all my items were in my account as I have a conversation to my friend about them and remember having to look at them in game to remember their exact names and prices. After scanning my inventory (bank and all personal character bags) and viewing my recently purchased log (to be sure there wasn’t a refund or rollback for some reason) I confirmed the items missing were as follows. No other items wre missing that are not on this list:

- One Quaggan Plush Backpack Cover town clothes item
- One Guild Wars 2 Early access celebration hat (see attached pic for reference)
- One Khaki Cargo Shorts town clothes item
- One Casual Hoodie town clothes item

The character used to view these items was since retired (for a new Norn Engineer character using the new mustache model added with the sky pirate patch) but was named _______(human Engineer).

This is all the information I have. I truly hope it is enough to help you find the issue and get my items restored.

I thank you again for looking into the matter for me. I would like to know exactly why my request is being denied. I have purchased the gems then used the gems on the items which according to your records no longer show up on my account. So far all we have been able to determine is that the items are not on my account which I completely understand as that is why I created the ticket to begin with. I do not know how to further clarify the situation to better express my predicament.

There has been a great deal of communication regarding this issue but I cannot seem to get that one thing answered though you all look into the issue individually (which I greatly appreciate by the way). If the fault is on my end I will happily accept that but I do not see what would cause such an incident where all the items would just disappear and you not have any record of it either.

Thank you for getting back to me. I am appreciative for all the hard work your investigation into the reports and logs must have taken. I am still confused though as to what exactly happened to these items. If I had made a mistake of some sort and it showed I would completely understand, but from the responses I have received it sounds like you have no record of it and I have a purchase history showing it, but nothing in any of my inventories. There are other items I purchased during this time that I in fact do have on my characters (a quaggen and panda hat). The missing items mentioned should have been stored in the bank with them but they are not there. Please detail exactly how these were lost so I know what is going on. Were the items traded or sold or deleted? Has there been access to my account other than from california? This is more concerning to me than even losing the items was as now the problem could be greater than it originally was.
I don’t mind talking to whoever I need to or presenting whatever information is required to help pinpoint the issue.
Thank you for taking the time to work on this and respond in a timely manner.

Hello,

Unfortunately there is no way for me to know the exact date and time when they went missing. I do not have access to that information. The best I can do is the information already provided regarding when the gems were purchaed and what items I used the gems to buy. I can only say for certain that the items were there when my last character was created as before today that was the last time I checked my bank.

If your logs do not show they were removed and my inventory does not show them but my purchase history shows they were purchased, is that not clear enough to merit restoration of my items? I am unclear as to how if the logs are not showing the items being removed, how that does not show proof of everything I am saying. The items were not removed by me but are no longer there which cannot be the fault of some action I have taken otherwise it would show them removed.

I appreciate the time it takes to look into these matters and would be happy to patiently wait while the matter is further invetigated or further escalated if needed. The amount of work this team does for players must be overwhelming and I understand that some requests may take time to resolve.

While I appreciate the time you have taken to look over my situation, I need more
information about why my request has been denied. The reason I contacted you
originally is that I do not know what happened to the items either. I enjoy your game
and have so far been treated well by the first few support people I have communicated
with, but if my request is truly being denied because ArenaNet support does not know
what happened to my items, I do not think I will spend any further money with the
Black Lion Trading Co.
Please help me understand in greater detail why my support inquiry is being closed or
send my request to someone who can. I truly appreciate all your guys’ hard work but I
cannot simply write off $45.00 worth of goods without a reason.

I recently bought a ‘quaggen plush backpack cover’ from the Black Lion Trading Co. using gems I had purchased with my credit card. Since then it seems to have gone missing. I am not sure what made this happen but I would like a refund of the gems (so I can repurchase it) or an replacement of the item. I appreciate your help and time finding a resolution to this matter.

Hello GM Barracuda,

Thank you for your response and help. I just noticed they were lost today. The last time I remember seeing the item was on 06/27/2013. The gems were purchased (as well as the items) through the in-game purchase screen in the Black Lion Trading kitten 5/25/2013, 6/05/2013, and 06/07/2013. I believe the missing Quaggen Backpack Cover, Casual Hoodie, and Khaki Cargo Shorts were purchased with a combination of the gems bought on 06/05/2013 and 06/07/2013.

In addition, the hat that is missing is actually the Guild Wars 2 pre-purchase event celebration item I received for pre-purchasing the game prior to launch. It disappeared around the same time. I have included an attached picture of it I found online for clarification.
I hope this added information helps you in recovering the lost items. I appreciate your effort and time taken to investigate my issue and look forward to your response.

Okay, that is pretty much the gist I got from them as well. Kind of a bummer since that was a decent amount of money spent. I would have been happy even just them telling me that is what happened (that I deleted them) and it wasn’t a bug or something. Makes me iffy about buying things on the BLTC as this was the first time I had tried it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and at least give me a possibility to pursue. After 8 messages back and forth with 8 different GMs I was getting nowhere. I will attempt to do as you say and file a bug report.

The likely reason to be somewhat cryptic bout it is cause some people make a bug huge issue bout being confronted with human error. I have worked some years in customer support and have seen that many customers do not like to hear something that they goofed up. So thats why they stay somewhat cryptic. You might want to share the messages you got and I might be able to help you to see if it is the polite way of saying that you did make a mistake or that they just dont understand the situation.

Keep in mind that support deals with people from all over the world from very different cutlures, that what offends you might not offends me and the other way around. So they often have to keep a formal tone.

From another thread, I gather that if you bought gems with gold there is no digital paper trail for them to follow to see if items were bought. They can only see items bought with a credit/debit card. Which may be the reason they can’t see it.

I am sorry for the confusion. I did not buy the gems with gold but actually spent real money through the in game cc screen. I apologize for not mentioning that in my original post.

You said you “retired” a character does that mean you deleted it? Are you sure the items weren’t on the character you deleted?

Yes, I deleted the character but last I remember the items were in the bank not on the character. This is further reinforced by the fact that the other items were in the bank as well and ArenaNet has no record of the items being deleted/removed/or anything.

I can reopen and clarify the ticket but always I get the same response stating they need the same information I have already given them and then that the items cannot be found. I understand that it may be possible the items are not recoverable (though that would greatly disappoint me) but the reason is not clear. It seems the logs do not show the items in my possession (according to the reps) on any of the dates specified. However, my bank account shows them being deducted (for the gems) and my recently purchased tab shows them bought.

The Tarnished Coast Night Owls [OWLS] are officially open for membership.

The Concept ::

A purely OOC guild designed to allow roleplayers on the Tarnished Coast who normally play during the late evenings, server time (PST) to connect, socialize, and organize roleplay with other roleplayers who play during this time.

The guild does not, and will not have an IC aspect or storyline. This is purely a networking and social guild for late evening roleplayers to connect to each other, organize roleplay events and meetings, and make new friends and chat socially. So many guilds and NGOs are going to bed by the time we get home and start playing. Time for a guild just designed for us Night Owls, insomniacs from all timezones, and those down under.

This is not an exclusive guild, and we do not expect you to represent us over your main, IC or other guilds. Kudos to those who are able to represent, but there is no expectations beyond connecting with other roleplayers and socializing.

This was a fun read amongst all the childish whining on these forums. I smiled a bit at least. Thank you.

Only problem with your build is that I go through allot of crowbars smashing so many faces and my cheeks are sore by the end of the day from all the laughing in their face I am doing.

I think its completely unfair to blame them of lazy work, because you can see from the fractals and the design of the new world that a huge amount of effort has been put into it.

I want to point out that many forget, we have a normal one-time payed game here. Blizzard does a total of 1 billion $ of revenue a year and in comparison they dont do kitten for that money. I really dont know what they are doing with it, because all they do it seems is pushing release dates, telling it`s done when its done and doing nothing in the meantime. You can found whole new corporations with that much money…

Guys, we live in a time of DLC. Developers think when people will pay happily for the biggest load of crap, why should they give it for free? So the norm is that you will have to pay for the smallest of content update in every other game available.

This one is different though, we get A LOT of free content and that is supposed to be great. But people forget that, they forget that they get an abnormal amount of bonus content for free in this game they paid the same as for every other game they own.

I read complains about the new area “not being a real big area” – how stupid. I mean, in every other game this kind of complaint would never arise, people just would be thankful for the free content. Most just got completely deluded by the MMORPG market structure it seems. Here people even suggest to stop playing because there were bugs in the monster content update they could have paid for in an expansion as well…

Why?

I think I finally understand. Because people actually complain LESS when they paid for something. The psychologist calls this: “cognitive dissonance”. You should look that up in wikipedia, its really interesting. Basically people will have to justify in front of themselves that they paid for a load of crap so they tend to think its better than it really is when they have in comparison to when they havent.

So, lets just get rational finally and be thankful for what we`ve got here.

The thing Anet pulls off with GW2 is kind of a little miracle in the MMORPG-genre and it revolutionizes the whole structure of this market. It is astonishing how close they get with a one-time payed title to the big players here (and to prevent flaming i will not discuss about whether they managed to do it even better).

So just remember for once before you start complaining here, that all you git you got it for a fraction of money you normally pay. And that you normally will be stripped of your money before you can expect this amount of new content in any other game.

I think all that Anet does deserve is productive feedback. You can critizise things in the game but do it in a friendly way. We wont motivate them much to continue this great work if all they get is hate from the players. The work they do is awesome. Mistakes can happen. Some should not happen. But there is NO reason ever you can critisize the people behind that in what they do or the effort they put into this.

Before that, get into relation what you offered them with what you should expect to get back and see that it is way more, that you get back than you can expect nowaday as it currently is.

Thanks Anet, I love your game, appreciate the stuff you did to rescue the event and generally appreciate all the love and effort you put into this. Its exceptional and I hope more people will realize that and keep it running.

Completely agree. Thank you for putting up a well thought out post that is enjoyable to read. Really breaks the monotony of the brutish insult slingers who can’t seem to construct an intelligent thought in writing. Yet I digress.

ANet is a great company with high plans that I have every hope of them delivering on. Did they dissapoint me with their delivery of content? A little. They are ambitious and they are learning from their mistakes making small changes that benefit things on the whole. I think this is a much better idea than the kneejerk reaction some other popular games take.

Given the speed at which they have released content as well as the depth of that content and the involvement of their internal community in game and interest on these forums I have high faith that they will deliver on those ambitions. It just may take some time for things to even out and new systems to settle. I think it’s worth the wait.

I persisted through three dcs the made me restart the entire event again on a different overflow. After five hours running through various parts of the event in different overflow servers I finally concluded it my first time.

Looking back on the experience, through all the frustration and persistence, I can’t help but think how awesome the entire story and feel was. The boss battle stages, pushing back reinforcements, shooting boulders, the teamwork needed to complete the event, the jumping puzzles, lead up and story were allvery well done. I can tell you put some very hard work into this and appreciate it greatly.

Once you get a handle on the dc’s, bugs, and lag it is a great inventive and enjoyable experience.

I had 15k hp… met a little karka … i got shot by volley of attack… dead… i am elementalist i know im supposed to die easy… but this is too fast

They have some neat mechanics, but overall their damage and defense are too high.
Specially their damage.
It’s so high, that they can kill themselves when you reflect that attack that spits several water bullets, giving mesmers a massive advantage against them.

Yes, because only mesmers have reflect. My goodness…their damage is so high..my poor glass cannon geared character or low level alt cannot survive. Stop the QQ and actually try to analyze what you can do to improve your survivability. I for one had no issues with the mobs there.

Not to act like a special snowflake or anything but I am a guardian under level 20 and don’t get “oneshot” by these mobs. It is the same as with other areas of densely crowded mobs. Pull one at a time, use your utilities, look at the enemies buffs, reflect/mitigate/dodge high dmg attacks, kite, use your downed abilities, fight in a group, switch skills around between pulls, heal before you are in the danger zone. You shouldn’t be able to solo the whole island on a single class. Challenge is good as it develops your skill in execution of the game mechanics.

Also this may help:

The veteran mobs are hard to melee because of their long knock down. I find it useful to ranged kite + dodge while soloing, but still take a long time because of their health pool and armor.

After all, the place is a lot better than Cursed Shore. I don’t see any particular environmental CC yet and the mobs can be avoided much more easily. Their CCs are mostly melee so as long as you keep your distance, it is not so hard running around to harvest or mine.

I think it is great and personally <3 the jumping puzzles in this game. I realize not everyone enjoys it though. If you don’t like it… don’t do it. No reason to force yourself to do content you do not want to.

maybe you should reduce the map population during these events, that way people would be spread throughout more overflow servers and the big events (like the karka invasion) wouldn’t be 3fps, 2000 ping zergfests.

To everyone having this issue, attempt to drop your party and log out/back in again hopefully getting a new overflow server. It seems some have issues and others are working as intended (keep trying as there can be multiple overflows with how many people are on for the event/weekend).This is how I was able to get passed Noll on Tarnished Coast. Once I found the real working Noll I reinvited all my friends and they joined me in the working overflow (till my whole guild had it done).

Same thing on Tarnished coast. Checked the main server as well as the overflows and all were broken in the same way. Canach is not aggroable and just sits there with the quest objective (orange fist) over his head.
Looking forward to word of/the act of a fix. Such an epic event but it seems Lion’s Arch isn’t the only place infested with mutant bugs of doom!

fixed it for myself.

1. Change status to online. (I didn’t change it to offline, the patch did, it seemed spontaneous) You can do this through your friends menu in game.
2. Quit client to desktop.
3. Restart client.
4. Double check online status at character select.
5. If it’s still offline, change here, and quit again.
6. Log back in, check to see if guild is there.

7. If it doesn’t work, yell and scream until they fix it! Enjoy!

This worked for me and a guildie.

This just hit me too. My guild has vanished. I also keep being set to invisible. I’m on Tarnished Coast, btw.

Also in The Tarnished Coast and this effected myself and at least one other Guild mate. Nothing special just standing around talking in harathi and when I looked at the chat after typing “/g” it said you are no longer part of a guild!

don’t nerf it. Just make other characters models invis so I can actually see my character while running it. As of right now the puzzle is easier than the real-time where’s waldo I have to play with my sylvari and 10 norn/char in full armor

I spent from the content’s release to about 4-5 am last night (pst) doing nothing but costume brawls tier 11 of 12 (200 time champion). I think the holiday is allot of fun. I really enjoyed the art and decorations as well as the npc interactions for the holiday. This is one of the best holidays I have seen in a VERY long time (and I played wow for 4 years). The mists looks amazing, the event story is not some sub par “carnival game duck shoot”, the costume brawl is not only ridiculously fun and addicting but also a great aesthetic for the festivities.

Very impressed Anet… I cannot wait for the rest.

That’s the only mask that give you white demon eyes. (Making white eyes isn’t the same)

Yeah i wish i could get my vharr skull mask over there too… im using the blindfold that covers my eyes right now for sort of a dark priest of blind affliction look. Make due with what we havr I guess. Being charr that isnt much as pretty much all hoods are redonkulous parachutes.

Alchemist, engineering robotics, gears, wheels, gizmos, science. These are all things I think of when I think of engineer. Currently the dredge mask is an option for more of the gas mask look. There is also the rascal coat which looks more like a heavy trench coat. There are a few armors I have picked up on my asura that when paired with goggles looks very mad scientist inventor like when the coat is dyed white like a lab voat. Just make a style based on your character concept. There are options it just takes some mix and match to get. I have use a ton of transmutation stones :-)

@Pawstruck: No … “we don’t know it”. That is some disease brought to gaming by other games, as far as I am concerned.

What satisfy you, is not necessarily the same as what satisfies me. To me it is challenge based on equal terms; improving and competing is quite the most optimal for me. It gives me no pleasure to beat other players on unequal terms.

Progression .. if that means giving you an edge, then I completely disagree from the bottom of my heart. That belongs in WoW; there … now I have said it. If you want to show off your PvP-armor, then I can understand it, and I can even understand if you want to show it outside Mists … but again I feel it would be completely irrelevant for it to be used as real armor in WvW or in Dungeons. Again: that concept belong in some other game.

I <3 you…. this is everything I was thinking on the topic (albeit more passionate than Id have worded it). You sir, get all the cookies.

Attributes grow with level, starting with 24 in each at level 1.

There are also differences in base health.

Check out this link which shows a table with the base health of each class. While attributes wont be different (starting out) from each other starting health does change.

To be honest I would love any or all of the following:

  • Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch
  • Capture the Dredge (or other CTF options)
  • Guard the Dolyak (or other escort derivatives)
  • A capture game where you need to have one point to get the other or where a choke point requires the team to face each other.
  • A siege the base game type with Golems as siege units
  • More neutral game types like “keg-brawl”

Pretty much anything to add flavor to the pvp scene outside of TPvP. I realize not many of these would work in “professional tourney” environments but there is something to be said about fun game types too

No traits are not changed. The attributes they give you (by putting points in a trait category) are lowered to a limit deemed appropriate for the mobs you are around. You do however keep any bonuses to skills like swiftness on kit use or throwing an extra grenade or the like.

First off WELCOME!

Most of the forums are bias toward pvp at the moment. So I would ignore the class forums that don’t specifically say they are talking about PVE for your case.
For PVE I have not run into a problem with any of the professions running through the story and the like. End game and dungeons there will be some debate but this is more about composition of your group than what class you are.

The great thing about guild wars 2 is that you can pretty much mix it up with any class and be hat you want to be. FOr instance, you say you enjoy melee and warriors but want a ranged alternative. Well that leaves you with two solid choices: Ranger with melee weapon and ranged weapon (focus is ranged damage but can break out the melee utility when needed) OR Warrior Rifle build with your choice of melee weapon secondary.

I would recommend making a character of each and doing the “tutorial area” then jumping into your hero panel —> pvp —> go to heart of mists to see what they are like in their entirety (as going to the heart of mists gives you a lvl 80 char with the ability to try out different weapons and builds).

In PvE, a character’s effective level and attributes are automatically reduced based on the enemy levels immediately around the player, and there can be numerous level scalings per area/zone. Skills and equipment are retained, so the area is easier because of this, but should still be challenging to play.

While that leaves a tiny bit of ambiguity, I do believe what happens is that the stats get down-ranked to the whatever the top tier of that level is. You still retain your gear but the actual usable stats are capped.
