Just an addendum to the above. There are many Players here on Gw2, that have been asking for some things, since the beginning of gw2, that for them… is what a “casual” MMO should Include.

Off the top of My head, I remember…

1. Player housing
2. combat pets
3. speed boost mounts
4. mounts acquired through gameplay
5. Open world PvP

Go through your chek list. AA has them. Now will all of those players leave for AA?

Maybe …maybe Not. But.. Anet would be foolish to gamble that they will not,.. and downright incompetent not to worry about it.

I played all of the AA beta tests. I kept coming back to Guild Wars 2 every night. Why?

Despite AA having all those things, the whole thing just did not “feel” the same to me.

Also… labor points. What kind of sadistic so and so comes up with that artificial restriction. If GW2 ever had something similar, I can honestly say i would be done.

The only thing on the list above that would make me smile for GW2 would be if player housing was implemented. The others I can gladly live without.

Imagine my shock and horror last night, as my girlfriend and I were doing map completion in Metrica (on alts), and I gleefully exclaimed to her “How about a nice game of golem chess”, only to find out… NOPE! DENIED!

We were both very disappointed.

What I do:

My main is an engineer using rifles. I have superior sigil of speed, which allows me to stack speed buff duration each time I kill something (highest I have gotten so far is about 5 solid minutes of speed buff). The sigil keeps working even if I am using flamethrower or elixir gun.

In addition to that I have speedy kits traited, as well as the permanent speed boost for engineer.

While the speed does vacillate depending on whether I am using the speed buff or not, I also have a ton of speed boosters I got from black lion chests that I keep on hand when I do not feel like attacking things I am passing (often moas). Those speed boosters last an hour I believe.

You might say I have the need, the need for speed. Just don’t ask me what I am in a rush for.

Let’s see…

I imagine, Bel Geode, THE Purple Norn would likely smell like a combination of gunpowder, wood chips, and some form of axe body spray (or the equivalent thereof in the shiverpeaks).

2) If you are a US citizen (or if your character would be one if animated in our mechanical world) please answer the following: If I offered you $300 cash, and went further to ask you what denomination you would like your money to be delivered, what would that be? All 50s, all 20s, two hundred dollar bills and 5 20s? Want it all in pennies or quarters? Answer

I don’t suppose I can get that in precious gems, can I? I might be able to get some black lion keys with them. Failing that, all 20s please.

3) I need to know you (or your character’s) favorite pizza toppings.

Barring moa not being a living animal… chicken… buffalo chicken. Extra spicy please.

4) If you (or your character) are a dog lover, do you like German Shepherds, Pugs, or Boston Terriers?

Bah who needs dogs when you can have a bear!

Hey now… i liked my Paragon! LOL. I just had all my alts (mercenaries) do the heavy lifting, and I kept shouting things at them. Plus with my secondary as ranger, I’d throw the bear in the mix.

But getting back to the OP. I have developed a pretty deep connection to my characters in GW2, just as I did with GW1. Mind you a lot of it is due to my own backstories for said characters, and not GW2’s ability to define my personal story.

I think everyone else has echoed my sentiments when it comes to being a veteran player forced to have his hand held for the 9th character I have created over a 2 year period…

The only thing I can really add is this:

I REALLY miss being able to feed Farmer Diah’s cows. :-(

I REALLY freaking hope not. It was bad enough living through all that crap with SWG the first time. To this day the acronyms CU, and NGE still give me PTSD! I came to Guild Wars 2 because I finally after all these years found a home I could enjoy as much as SWG.

The last few days have been most distressing indeed. Reading all 6 pages of that glassdoor site has not helped my mood much either. :-(

Yeah Gibson, you used to be able to learn frog-jitsu from the hylek (you still can, AFTER you get to level 15). You used to be able to tackle the giant shark, as well as any of the other events going on in that lake…

I can see why they’d want to limit it. as it was, there was a delivery agent practically everywhere, which defeated the point of even needing one.

Id say its a mixture of that and removing money from the game.

Say I just finished CM in Queensdale. Hop over to Claypool to craft. usually head to that bridge waypoint in Scaver for the tp. Now you have to go into DR.

Lemee go check the costs but Im guessing it may be more.

The one in that little fort near scaver is still there, the one in shaemoor is gone.

What was the point of that? I often craft in Wayfarer foothills at Twin Spur Haven, and bounce back and forth to the very first wp to pick up items on the trading post.

Now there are no Npcs? They could have at least MOVED them elsewhere in the zone!

Sounds pretty awful. I wanted to have a use of scrolls to bypass this useless process…

I made a new character yesterday, and got in the mail the usual golem banker. i was able to get into my bank at level one in the tutorial, to snag some gear I had stashed in there for new characters. I also have access to the scrolls. So there is a workaround… provided you originally bought the deluxe version of the game when it came out.

If not… well… this won’t be of much help, will it?

Another little thing I would like to add Heriophant.

I have been playing this game for over 2 years now, and I STILL run into little things I have never noticed before. Whether it be a funny conversation by a couple of npcs, or a little corner of the world I passed by so many times but never knew was there. Recently I noticed this lady in the graveyard in Shaemoor… had NO IDEA she even had a mini event associated with her! I have been in that graveyard tons of times.

This game was made for exploration. I hope that is your cup of tea, because you will have found the right game for that.

I don’t care what anyone says, this game is my favorite. I have played many different titles over the years, and this one consistently is the one I log into EVERY day. I am a norn engineer on my main character, and I am on tarnished coast server, which is the unofficial RP server.

Since mega servers were introduced however, I have not seen as many RPers unless I go into town (pick a town).

It has been a while since I have RP’ed as I spend most of my time livestreaming the dailies around 8 eastern time each night. I do not often get the chance to just sit and talk with people IN the game. I will say this though. I have never been bored, or run out of things to do.

I think you came in at the right time. The NEW new player experience promises to be interesting. I plan on making a new character to check it out myself today.

There is still a lot of work to do in the world of Tyria, and you just stepped in the midsts of a pretty exciting time storywise. Enjoy your personal story, level up at your own pace… play the game how YOU want to. Do all those, and I am pretty sure 2 years later you will be like me today saying “Dang I love this game just as much as the day I bought it”.

Definitely this. I have had so many of these things piling up and I only need like ONE skin on the BL vendor (that rifle skin scarlet used). This might convince me to do some key farming.

Of course we will ALL see how easy/hard it is later today. Either way, I have a blank character slot ready to go.

The basis for doing so is already in game, if you ever did the four little arenas in Caledon Forest, where you are turned into animals. “PROVE THE SUN SHINES THROUGH YOU, FACE ME AS ANOTHER FORM!” Shut up lady…

Thank you. I have enough faith that ArenaNet will get to the things we want to, when the time is right. It’s a pretty vast game, you cannot do everything at once. I understand that more than most who read these forums.

As long as you will be as transparent as you can (take a cue from CIG / Roberts Space Industries), then you will hear no complaints from me at all.

As an engineer, I thoroughly love underwater combat. I make it a point to do something underwater every time I log in, whether it is as simple as killing random mobs, or underwater events… or even just resource gathering.

I for one, cannot wait till we get to take on Bubbles, because that HAS to bring more underwater maps into the equation.

I may be in the minority but I vote YES YES YES for more underwatery goodness.

I have to say I absolutely love GW2’s model.

While right now I am unemployed, you had better believe that when I was working I was throwing money left and right at the gem store, because I knew it supported the game, and they had actual things I wanted (cough black lion keys, revive orbs, fancy duds).

I spent the last few months in the ArcheAge beta, livestreaming it for my viewers, and now that their beta has come to an end I can say with an honest and open heart, I will NOT be playing the live game. Don’t even get me started on the labor point thing……..

GW2 has consistently met with my approval on the things that matter for me. Music, character customization (In beta test 1 of ArcheAge I could not make a believable black dude that looked like me, AT ALL), content (I still love livestreaming my dailies every night and LS updates every 2 weeks), and combat (PvE).

I cannot argue with the track record this game has had. Yeah games like ArcheAge look pretty, but to me, it was kind of hollow. Granted there are some things other games have that I would love to see in GW2 (for example the truly open world maps, no portals… or housing I can decorate), but then, this game was never intended to be like Black Desert.

I proudly support B2P as a model, and I am glad to see new games like Star Citizen are going to follow that route as well.

But my home, first and foremost, is TYRIA.

First beta test. I made a dark skinned norn with a goatee… kind of like the real life me, and made him an engineer who loves wearing purple clothes.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Bel Geode- THE Purple Norn has now become a household phrase…… well…. in my household anyway.

I’ll add my name to the “wanting SAB back” party. Whether or not it fit with the living story narrative for me is irrelevant. It had its OWN story independent of the main story… A story, I might add, that is still unresolved.

There are still two more worlds that need to be introduced, and I for one would love the chance to explore them, and relive the first two worlds.

When I played SAB, it was not a constant, over and over playthrough. It was a detour from my “mundane” GW2 life by doing something different. I ran through it, had a blast, or cursed at the screen in the case of world 2, but I enjoyed it.

I’d like the opportunity to do that again, AT MY OWN LEISURE! Even if the story behind it is never progressed, I’d still like that 8 bit goodness to break up the every day Tyrian adventure.

I think they all migrated south to Elona… or something.

My vote is Kasmeer… Young, beautiful, fallen from grace (or nobility), has self esteem issues, yet most potential to kick kitten when cornered and rise to be something greater than herself.

Dodger- Caledon Forest where the red hylek set up camp just south of the northeasternmost fort. I get close to a Nahuali, back off, and dodge his 5 at a time blowdart attacks, and his jump attacks. Three rounds of successful dodges and I am done.

Ambient Killer- I made a youtube video on this one. As an engi I equip the flamethrower and run around the Issormir skill point area, killing ravens. A favorite for Pittsburgh Steeler fans everywhere.

Events- When in doubt, go to wayfarer foothills. Between Lunt antagonizing the dredge, Sons of Svanir attacking Bear shrine, and the string of events at the homestead with the five million snowball throwing kids, you should have it done in no time.

Reviver- As mentioned above, Nageling, your source for convenient dead people. Other areas I found- Iron Marches just north of where the current living story has you fighting mordrem. There is a line of charr always getting killed by tar elemental type things… Or go to Diessa Plateau and hang out near the ghosts. Those blood legion guys never seem to stay alive.

Skill Interrupter- Any drake will do. Their breath takes a long warm up timer, which is the perfect time to smack them with something that will interrupt them.

Daily Kills- Pretty much any zone where an event is happening. Some of my faves include the bandit events in Queensdale, fighting wolves while escorting the charr rancher and his cows in Diessa plateau, or anything tied to the living story as of Episode 3. ….. And moas. My dailies are not complete unless I have barbecued a bunch of moas, especially the ones that travel in flocks.

Veteran Killer- Caledon Forest in Wytchmire Swamp… Mosshearts. Diessa Plateau giant wurm south of the Meatoberfest area.

I vouch for this as well. Darker nights, weather effects… Which we now know can be done with the advent of sandstorms in Dry Top.

I do like that it rains in some areas of Queensdale, Kessex Hills, etc… but more globally in the areas that look like they would get regular rain (and blizzards for the shiverpeaks) would do wonders for the ambience methinks.

Heck maybe even a new achievement to get all the vistas during inclement weather! Too much? Ok ok, maybe not that.

Pretty easy fight on my “Wellomancer”. Plague as my elite also helped a lot, especially with that pesky mender when he slipped past my fear.

Final Score- Bel 1, Ghosties 0, Rytlock… somewhere in the fractals getting his +20 agony resist.
