“Doing The Dailies " Weeknights at 8PM EST.
http://www.twitch.tv/belgeode
I’ve been livestreaming my “Doing The Dailies” most nights a week on twitch. The show usually starts around 8pm EST (or soon thereafter), around the time the dailies reset. No two shows are ever the same. Generally I go through zones at random to complete 5-7 of the dailies, with commentary, and occasionally I am joined by viewers or guildmates.
Bel Geode- THE Purple Norn plays… Guild Wars 2: Doing The Dailies!
Please note, with the recent twitch changes I won’t be able to save past broadcasts longer than two weeks, but if you miss one, they are in the archive for now.
On patch days, I have TWO shows… One when the patch goes live to play through that living world episode (SPOILERS INCLUDED), and a later show around the regular time to do the dailies.
Stop on by! If you are on Tarnished Coast, feel free to drop me a line in game and join in the fun!
The update to the hosts file did t he trick for me. Thanks to those who suggested/ helped me with it.
Another FIOS user here.
174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com
Added to Hosts fixes it.
Hey there. Where, how did you do that please?
Ugh. The same thing is happening to me as well. I am also on vz fios. I did the DNS thing, and nope… It is still occurring. I suppose I can probably contact one of my friends, since I am an ex verizon employee and I still have some connections there. As for tonight, guess I am not livestreaming… sigh.
When I started reading the OP, I went… aww here we go. But by the time I got to the end of it, you had me seriously thinking.
It makes sense… the dragon is her biggest fear apparently (and we are assuming that it is the dragon talking to her in her dreams, though anyone who has played the sylvari starting area… pretty compelling evidence of their existence).
Now what I also find interesting is that the location of the thumper itself… is in OLD Lion’s Arch. I don’t recall in GW1 any connection to dragons based under old L.A. Granted GW1 was not entirely a story about dragons (only parts of it had them), but it is definitely one of those things that makes me go hmmm…
All I know is this. I cannot wait for the next update! I am genuinely excited to see what happens.
If L.A. becomes unlivable, I’ll just spend more time in Hoelbrak.
Nah, we had this Asuran father and son relation drama already in GW1, Anet would not recycle that for GW2 with a father – daughter thing would they…?
Oh, heavens, no. ANet would never recycle ANYTHING from their previous game to use for this game. EVER. Perish the thought.
LOL!
cough most of the music that plays while we walk around cough
But honestly I would not mind if her motivation ultimately became revenge. It’s an old tale to be sure, but it’s ok for me.
But then I am a scorpio… we live revenge.
Cool beans, thank you for that.
Has anyone found one, or successfully completed the achievement for entering one?
Is this attachment an example of one? Found this in Gendarran Fields.
Where are the others located, if this is an example of one?
Are you folks going to be doing any of the WvW ones as well, or just the ones in the main server?
Outstanding job fellow TC’ers… now if only I could be on my home server, and not overflow, when he spawns. I missed the big kill.
I have played an engineer since beta and I absolutely LOVE it. I am hooked on the utility of the class, as there always seems to be a “tool for the job” in many cases. Some people rag on me for choosing turrets most often, but with the right trait setup, turrets can be a godsend. As long as you can think strategically, you can set up an almost unstoppable defense with your turrets, and get in there to do some major damage. In boss fights I will often scatter turrets all over, switch to tool belt (melee), and get in there with the warriors and guardians. Very rarely do I drop… VERY rarely.
I also have a thief but I will be honest with you, it does not play the same to me. With my thief I specialize in hit and runs… using as much stealth skills as possible to preserve my health. It is a very glass cannon build.
I definitely prefer engineer.
Hope this helps you!
what’s going to happen with that psycho sylvari?
OMG… she frightens me… I was like, here are your eggs, I’m outa here… no no, don’t worry about the omelettes! I already ate!
We get karma for it. The one in Wayfarer’s Foothills gave me a bit of karma for turning in the logs. He can be found right next to the fist refugee memento collector near the starting area.
My main is an engineer… I use turrets a lot…
My strategy is simple, set up the rocket and rifle turrets within range, let them get smacked around by the sonic periscope, while I go a little further back, pop the mortar out, and hit skill 5. BOOM! Instant sonic periscope death, no knockback troubles. (It also does not knock you back while you are operating the mortar I have found.)
My main character… is a norn engineer. I specifically chose that because I knew a lot of others were NOT going to choose that.
Nope… no desire to get a legendary. I have the Order of Whispers rifle, with the neat laser scope… I have seen what The Predator looks like, and I do not want it. I transmuted my rifle to exotic status, the stats are the same if it were legendary, so no need for me to change the skin I like.
Tybalt- eventual leader of the pact
Trahearne- thrown to undead dragon at Claw Island.
That would make my day.
No seriously, I like a lot of what I have read above and echo a LOT of the sentiments.
Even on my main character- my lvl 80 engi… I still have not done the Zhaitan fight. I figure why bother. I rarely do dungeons anyway, and the entire way along my PS I did it solo, so I am done. I have had a more enjoyable experience exploring every nook and cranny of the world, finding every jumping puzzle, dive site, etc etc… than actually completing personal stories.
Continuing the PS I would love to see more emphasis on ME as the hero, less on people like Trahearne. Since “This is MY story”, I want it to matter more to me. I want to go back to my home instance and see some of the people I have met and helped along the way, and have them remember what I have done… I want my personality choices to determine how they regard me…
and where is that danged statue they said they were going to make of me???
How to get stealth on any character:
Buy the spy kits… ash legion or order of whispers. Both can stealth you, one lasts longer than the other though.
MattVisual did a video recently talking about this.
about 5:09 in.
I am interested in this achievement too, but one question, how are you able to solo it? Not to mention aren’t fractals random? Are you popping in and out of the ones they give you till you get to uncategorized?
Also what profession are you (I have one of each, maybe that might help me decide who to take this challenge on).
I just got A fine transmutation stone at the end of today’s daily… notice I said A.
To a vendor-
You may want to alt drag it first to an open inv or bank spot to split the stack. I don’t think you can tell a vendor how much of a stack you want to sell.
To the trading house-
Yes, it will pop up in the window.
The norn area (wayfarer foothills) is where a lot of us have been hanging out lately, due to the new living story content. You will find no shortage of people there most times of the day. As always, let map chat /m be your guide.
As stated above, Divinity’s Reach is also a good place to find people, though you may have to approach them in character, as opposed to just saying hey group with me!
I do not spend enough time in any of the other starter zones to be able to tell you, but Caledon Forest may be a distant third as far as finding like minded people to run with.
I know it is probably never coming, but I loved the heroes and in particular the MERCENARY heroes (ie- my own alts). Especially in my personal story (which is essentially single player), I wish I could roll with the alts of my choice, instead of the supporting NPCs that we get a lot of the time.
But again… wishful thinking.
Top 3:
Wayfarer Foothills
Queensdale
Timberline Falls
Bottom 3
Cursed Shore
Malchor’s Leap
Straits of Devastation
What can I say, I am not a fan of Orr.
Yeah it is most likely gaming burnout I think. I know I have experienced it in the past, even with games I really really love. I have come a long way since the days of Star Wars Galaxies back in 2003 (or going even further back, Everquest). I have played a lot of MMORPGs, with this one being my main one for the foreseeable future.
That being said, I would be lying if I said I don’t get burned out from time to time and just do not log in. But that is why they invented real life! When I am not playing GW2, or anything else, I play the bass guitar in a rock band here in Pittsburgh, PA. It gives me a lot of satisfaction that I cannot get from gaming, as much as I love gaming.
Be glad for one thing… there is no subscription fee. Even if you decided to give gaming a little rest and do other things in life, your characters will still be here, and you know ArenaNet will add a lot of new content over the months, so you will not be missing much, and you will have plenty to do if you take a break and come back.
My grandmother used to always tell me “Too much of one thing, is good for nothing.”
One other thing. DON’T delete your characters. You never know when you might log one in that you have not played in a long time, and find that you really like it again. I have 9 of them (I paid for extras), but it ensures that I have one of each race and profession, and I can explore the world from different points of view, thus always giving me something to do! Even if you only have the standard 5 characters, you can easily have one of each race and see how different each area is.
Overall, try to remember WHY this is fun for you. Sometimes we as humans can forget that, and that leads to burnout.
Good luck to you!

I have at least one of each race. They all bring something unique to the table. (I have 9 characters total, yes i play them all).
My favorite undoubtedly however is my norn engineer… my main. He is the first I got to level 80. My Asuran is probably the lowest level out of all of them, since I just made him recently.
I am having this issue too. The one I was missing was the pvp hint about trebuchets. I went to the training area and used the treb there… got the hint to pop up, but no completion. It still says 82/83.
Let’s say you are a ranger, and you use skill 4 (the one that calls a flock of birds) as your kill shot on a given mob. That triggers the count.
I am not 100% sure they move on their own in all zones, but I think in Lion’s Arch they do. Not to mention they move when you swim through them most times.
Most of the Maguuma jungle zones will have some kind of plant based enemies. Sparkfly Fen is an example of a higher level zone that has a bunch. I am not sure of exact locations, but as you travel around I am pretty sure you will come across them. The look exactly the same as the ones in Caledon forest.
I always try to revive anyone I see, even if I am in a place like Orr… but yes I agree that some folks just automatically hit the nearest uncontested waypoint, and I think that happens because they have their map open and cannot see the person running to them to rescue them. Even with the message popping up that a kind soul is reviving you, it is often too late to take back the teleport request.
OP, it is certainly doable… I have done it. I should add that I used my lvl 80 engineer, so I had a bit of an easier time doing so. The path I took had me running east through kryta, then through the shiverpeaks, and into diessa plateau. From there I went south into black citadel. I am sure there are other ways to get there, but for me that was the path that took me through low to mid level areas without biting off more than I could chew.
Good luck on your run! You should post pics of the path you took!
Engineer. I cannot imagine playing another race as an engi… I love my engineer! Ever since I picked up the order of whispers “sniper rifle”, I feel more epic lol.
I am going to go with Eir as well, because norn is my favorite race, but Queen Jennah and Countess Anise come a very very close second and third!
It sounds like you are starting to get some really useful info here Flux, so I cannot detract from any of what has been already said. I will say as someone who has an elementalist… you have to think outside the box a bit. It can be a bit daunting knowing you have 4 attunements to pick from, and a fair amount of weapons to use them with. As you play you will learn though. It is like anything else. My ele is still my squishiest character, but I have learned how to be more survivable over the months (investing in toughness stated gear helps). If you plan on going solo a lot, you may want to look at upping your healing stat as well. One little tip… Ride The Lightning… often times better than sprinting, even if you have to wait a few seconds to reuse it lol!
This having been said, my first and main character is an engineer! Loooooove it. While touted as one of the most difficult classes to master, it has been pure joy since day one for me. To me, there was more of a learning curve with ele than engi!
Either way you slice it, you will enjoy it. Welcome to Tyria friend!
I had no idea what I was getting into when i clicked on this subject… but I am ROLLING with laughter!!! I love the GW2 community, thanks guys! I needed this laugh!
So you’re saying there is no story line to it! What a downer, that just ruined my day
Oh, it gets worse. The GW1 floating castle is clearly a different castle to the GW2 floating castle. Neither have been explained.
I’m just waiting for the Asura to crash Rata Sum into it.
I got one even better for you… between GW1 and GW2 the castle has also MOVED. Where it is now is not where it was floating 250 years ago… almost as if someone deliberately put it where it is now.
I really hope more goes on in this area… this has great mini story potential, and I would love to eventually do a dungeon in this castle that has perplexed us for so long.
That is pretty much all I have ever noticed… but admittedly I do not have much reason to even go into my personal instance once I have chosen an order to join.
My best guess is midweek early morning. The server is usually full. It is my home also, so hope you get in, and see ya around.
P.S.- I am east coast too.
I usually tune out all of them, but my favorite is still “Which way to the outhouse?”
Love that exchange lol.
Chikun… chikun goooood.
There are emotes /laugh for example… but no macros. The wiki has a full list of emotes I believe.
Love the work so far… Rifles?
Let’s not forget we can find fireworks in game too. i know i have some stockpiled in my bank somewhere.
The more dragons I kill, the more norn women I can impress… so yes. I kill dragons as often as i can.
I regularly go back to the lower levels when traveling to higher level areas (I try not to teleport too much). It gives me a chance to harvest for my alts when not playing them. I have already completed the maps but I just like going through the areas, and yes, I will still stop and help people on an event.
When you break up with someone and tell them “weakness makes me sick”.
When you walk into a bar in town you have never been to and say “A new place!”
You tell people on a regular basis “This looks like a fine place to make my legend”.
The last one you can select. (Far right bottom?) It’s the body type I have for my main. Tall, cut, not overly bulky.
Lvl 80 Engineer, and I solo most of the time. It is a rare thing when I die, even in Orr. I have learned tactics to avoid areas that may be a bit much for one lone engi… but to be honest that comes from learning the map more so than learning your profession.
I will always love the engineer’s versatility. Have kits will travel!
I cannot imagine why… I even commented in my feedback in BWE1 how much I really loved that hat.
Maybe I should have said it was ugly as sin?
