This is so boring I actually played SWTOR for an hour and had more fun. Got more loot too.

The event is a big disapointment, yet its way way better then the SWTOR..That game is faliure in any possible way.

Why on gods earth would you advertise this as an epic one time event? People actually prioritize this thing cus of the advertising, when they could do more fun stuff. Like watching the grass grow, in winter.

I still love you, the game, and WvW tho. You aint getting rid of me, but i will never expect anything from any one time events again. They just don’t deliver any epicness at all. FYI the new zone, dungeon and stuff is awsome and thank you so much for that Anet. we love you. But please work on making one-time events actually epic instead of just randomly kill 1 type of enemy for 1 silver.. Its really really really not epic at all.

Get Europeans or Americans or transfer to the winning server.
It’s how Anet is designing WvW. Everybody knows it.

WvW is not based on skill at all. It’s based on how many EU or US people the server have. Nothing else. You can twist it all you want but this is the truth.

The sad thing is: Arenanet likes it this way.

The larger the SSD = The faster is the speed.

you should try benchmarking both and you will see.
Install OS and the games you play most on the large one, and other stuff you want fast, but don’t use as often on the other one. Just my 2 cents

So I currently have an AMD Phenom II x6 1055T at stock speed, 2.8ghz, along with a single OC’d GTX 560 Ti by EVGA. I thought this would for sure be good enough on high settings with good FPS, but apparently not. With everything on high and FXAA off, I’m getting ~25-30 FPS at Lion’s Arch, yet I see people with Intel processors get 60 easily with a 560 Ti.

I was considering switching to an i5 2500k, which is pretty much the best gaming CPU, but that would require switching my mobo and reinstalling drivers, and that’s too big of a hassle.

So if I were to upgrade my 1055 to a Phenom x4 965, would that increase my FPS by much? Since I’ve also seen videos of people with 965’s and 560 Ti’s run at 60.

Going from a 1055 to a 965 wouldn’t be a upgrade.
I recently upgraded from a 965 @ 3.8 ghz to a newly released Piledriver FX-8350 @5ghz. I made it a 4 core by disabling the second core of each module. (not turbo mode as that is 4 cores sharing 2 modules. 4m/4cores means no cores share resources and is much better. Also the performance per hz is better on a Piledriver.) and it runs Aaaawsome. Much better than the 965. Or you could wait for the 4370 to be released wich will be even better at games. And MUCH cheaper than going intel. Especially if you also have to change mobo… Intel motherboards are insanely high priced, and they are worse than the mobos from amd wich is much cheaper.
But don’t get the 1st gen bulldozer. Go piledriver if you wanna save money and hassle, and still get reasonable fps

Already been doing that. All temps are within norms, GPU and CPU are set to stock speeds (no OC), tried with CAP and no CAP drivers. All settings according to the Devs sticky. My computer still blue screens after about 5 minutes of playing GW2.

I’v had 3 friends with the excact same problem over the years ( last one 2 months ago). Crashing after 5 min in game after changed a piece of hardware. Solutions for all 3 of them: buy new PSU. They all had different psu’s with enough watts. But the different outputs from the psu had fault or couldn’t deliver to the new hardware. One of them (a year ago) even had a only 1 year old 600w psu. And the problem started as soon as he changed graphics card, no symptoms before that whatsoever. just like you. He got a new PSU and it worked.

Try another PSU. I can almost guarantee its the problem! . As i had much experience with that particular problem and what your describing is the psu. Either faulty or not enough umpfh!

Whelp, as expected I have issues with my new 7970 and GW2. My computer will blue screen after a few minutes in game. I even under clocked the card. Oh well, i’ll just have to wait for updated drivers, the game will still be around by then. Until then, I have plenty of other games to play.

On a side note, I was getting about 10FPS more in game than with my old card. But then again, I didn’t get the new card with this game in mind.

Then don’t overclock! The Ghz edition 7970 is know to having problems in that department. I got a Asus 7970 ghz edition aswell and it HATES overclocking. But only in GW2. if i go over 1040mhz i get all sort of GW2 problems it becomes unplayable. but this doesn’t happen in other games. Just a warning

The first thing i do when i log into the game is to enter the instance and then back out just so i can play with the extra zooming!
It really enhances gameplay alot, as that low zoom has been very annoying since the release of GW2!

Just ordered Win8 myself, i did try it out a couple of months ago too, and like you i don’t like changes. BUT i got used to it and that metro screen when configured to your preferences is sooo much faster and better than using the win 7 start menu.

1. This is a game. It needs to be balanced for it to be any fun at all. Referring to a real life situation of war is just trying to dodge the problem with the game.
2. Yes there is. It’s called sleep. There is no way you can match a server with US guilds on it by telling you server with no US guilds, that everyone have to stay awake the whole night. Use a little logic here please, this argument is getting old and does not make any sense.
3. Even tho i don’t agree with his suggestion i would like to point out that he suggest EB to still be open and playable by all.

Something HAS to be done, but i don’t think locking something is it. Rather make the night not count as much, and not so hard to recover from after a night full of nightcappers. This would make it so Americans play on US servers and Europeans plays on European server and skill and strategy would actually count for something. Because right now it simply doesn’t whatsoever!

Everyone should understand this. Those who doesn’t usually plays on a server dominating because of nightcappers.

I bought the game because of WvW and i feel ripped off. I feel me and my server have to actually recruit hundreds of Americans to leave their server to play on our server to keep us from being dominated and hence make WvW totally unplayable!

I would just like to say that i love Desolation people, and RUIN. Had some really really challenging and great fights against them. And i really respect all of them after seeing their skill and tactic.

I see alot of people crapping over deso server and ruin because of nightcapping, but please don’t. They just did what they had to do to compete!

It’s Arenanets fault for giving all players this nightcapping headache, and it shouldn’t be tolerated really. If it was intended, at least don’t have any “EU or US” servers, but make all server international so every server got people from all continents.

FS is also looking for people to join us so we can become a nightcapping server. And this is good. We are also trying to survive and do what we have to. but again, Anet shouldn’t tell us we HAVE to balance out all EU servers with US too (50-50) to be able to compete in EU server brackets! Can anyone see the logic??

Anyway, my points was just font listen to the people calling you out for “cheating”. I agree its extremely unfair for us, and it gives you a huuuge advantage. and i’m starting to loose my interest in WvW because of it. But most of us know we just have to get Mericans too.. its the reality.

And to RUIN: please don’t bash FS. You do see we have litteraly no one in WvW the entire night, and wake up to not only EB, but also ALL bordelands 100% in your control? That’s not because we lack skill, is it? We are good at daytime. but its limits to how much uphill back-capping we can do with such a huge lead. People don’t even bother going to WvW anymore until late afternoon because no one cares to join a map 100% conquered by the enemy server.. Atleast with vizuna sqaure we still had some keeps since they didnt have morning cappers. :/

The reason you see us falling so behind at prime time now compared to this weekend is simply that people don’t bother anymore. At least that’s my impression after talking to alot of WvW people in our server. we have been fighting bravely and optimistic against nightcapping servers for weeks, and its getting stupid.

Good post. Yeah we really need night coverage love from Americans. I can also add that everyone speaks english on this server, even on TS. Never seen anyone talking any other languages actually when i think about it. (except in our guild chat;P)

We have been fighting uphill against nightcappers since release, and always tried to win by skill and tactics. At day we did. But it simply does not matter! the night counts twice as much because of free reign to not only take EVERYTHING, but also super easy to upgrade everything!

Capping at night shouldnt give more of an advantage over capping at day!!!

I’ve seen a huuuge decline in wvw players on my server the last days because now we got a new matchup, and guess what? these guys have even more nightcappers! no one bothers any more. Me included. I bought this game because of WvW. and Anets stance on this ruins the entire game for me! im considering quitting atm. And i certainly wont buy any more gems until Anet change their opinion on this crap!……

Unfortunatly this doesnt affect 5xxx or 6xxx series at all :/ These driver apparently started taking use of a “tech for the future thingy” only incorperated in the 7xxx series card.

Cant wait, my HD 7870 wont run at 100% useage unless I use ver. 12.6. Any other ver. only runs it at 64% max. I know I should be geting better then 15 fps in zergs. This better fix it or its going on ebay.

Nightcapping is the point of WvW.

Cus right now, It’s the only strategy that matter in any mathup. !!evil look at you arenanet

ok cool, new matchup? s1 v s2 v s3, great. Server 3 got a nightcapping team you say? They win. there is no but. They will straight out win, shut up rambo and Chuck Norris even tho s1 and s2 got you on their team playing charr’s, you wont win. no chance. nightcapping team man.. Wvgate. Nothing else matters.

Yeah WvW got alot of issues atm… I do have faith tho.

Intel is better yes. but AMD is MORE than enough for all games if you got one of the better CPU’s.

I guess the point of this thread is that the FPS is TOO LOW compared to other games.

Doesn’t matter where i am or anything. It’s always been like this. Did the Asura invent some kind of Jesus-tech? Or do we just got a lot of gas? Jesus had more style, cus Asuras dragging themselves on top of the water looks kinda weird. Also when standing still in the water we seems to be floating so high, our arms aren’t even in the water.

Its pretty obvious that some people don’t read the thread before they post. If you look about 16 posts up from this one you’ll see i already posted the answer on how to fix it. Turn your sound quality slider back 1 notch or to the halfway mark on the slider bar.

That’s not a fix. That’s a workaround of the problem. People want to use max sound quality. People spend alot of money on good sound systems, ofc they wanna max the ingame quality of sound. But yeah, its a temporary workaround.

The event that is supposed to open the entrance of CoF is bugged and part 2 of it won’t start. Making CoF perma-closed for the entire server of Far Shiverpeaks. I saw people in mapchat saying it has been this way since last night.

Sent a ingame report about it, but also wanted to post it here since this needs a fast fix.
It’s really lame if the entire server have to wait until server restart before being able to do CoF.

I was wondering if there is any updates or a fix coming soon? the last week i have played WvW a lot each day. When i get in, the first thing i do is turn of the sound!
I do believe its a known bug so i wont explain the sound in detail, but the word alarm sound should explain it.

After 5-10 minutes (ALWAYS)
It’s getting annoying, i wanna experience the game sound, but this bug forces me to turn my surround system off while playing WvW each day, every day. And that gets boring. It ruins my game experience so bad that often i wont bother to log on.

I know exit the game fixes it, but that’s not an option after 1 hour in queue and only to have it happen again in 5 minutes.

search is not working for me for any reason, so i can’t see any Anet answers on this if there is one.

GTX 680 is better than amd radeon 7970, nearly every benchmark says that and it’s known. BTW, it also got physx which amd radeon haven’t got. gtx 680 is the best.

Ye i know that’s why i wrote “Atleast in this game it is” and provided the link which should prove it by looking at the chart. :P I agree its better then the radeon in most other games tho.

A little tip: If you want AMD. Wait a few weeks. Their new next gen bulldozer named Piledriver Vishera CPUS will be out early – mid october. (FX-4300, 6300. 8350etc)
Buy a rig with the new FX-4300 instead. It probably cost the same as that one.
Buying a CPU 2 weeks before the new updated ones releases is never a good idea, as the prices will drop alot when they come out.

Its the CPU that matters in this game. I just updated from a Radeon HD 5850 1gb to the best single card in the world, the HD radeon 7970 3gb GHZ edition. That proves that my CPU is bottle necking. And i got it OC’ed. so it should be on the same line as a 4100. On topic: I’m quitting the game. I play for WvW. But its no reason to play WvW now is it?. i think it was Wednesday last week i spent 5 gold in keep upgrades and trebutches and kittens and fight as good as we could. we had been doing all day. Well guess what, It doesn’t matter how much we spend or how well we are doing, or how well we fight.. we dont have nightcappers.
And right now Nightcappers is the only thing that decides wich server wins. NOTHING else.

How Anet comes out and say that this is intended and awesome is really, really beyond me, and ALOT of people on this forum. Its not sportsmanship. VS wins because of canadians. Thats the only thing they need to do. nothing.. And everyone know we can’t just “recruit” a whoooole bunch of american players to help our server. wtf people. Stop it already with those comments.

And all the people from other servers who posts here saying its not a issue, you can just go away until you have experienced 1 month of loosing to purely nightcappers, no matter how good you are doing compared to that server.. Go on, you would be even more kitten than we are.

I highly agree with you tho. Alot have to be done with this game to make it more playable.

all in all, I’d recommend giving Anet some time, they’ll pull together, first few months of an MMO launch tend to be choatic, especially the economy.

But i have to agree with this:

We do NOT need mounts – detrimetnal to game
We do NOT need inspection – detrimental to game
we do not need fishing – boring as hell, just go do it in real life if you want it
Target of target not required – detrimental to game
Cast bar for target not required – detrimental to game
Downed state should stay in Spvp – adds tactical dimension to play

I don’t think you understand what i wrote. What i am proposing is that everyone can farm any dungeon they want. Hell, even mix it up. Do one, then do another. And still get the same tokens. 1 Type of tokens for all dungeons, every set piece of every set use that token. Then no one feel like they have to farm the dungeon they don’t like for the set they like.

Thats what im saying…… No one should have to farm ONE dungeon they DONT like to get the set they like. This game is about fun, not grind right?. Well the fun thing would be to choose dungeon. Right now, that doesn’t feel rewarding does it?

Yes i agree with what you are saying about the looks tho. Scrap what i said about having the cooler ones cost more. Have every piece cost what it cost now. We still have to do just the same amount of dungeon runs to get each piece as we do now. Only we can mix it up. Not be stuck in the same dungeon over and over.
