I remember playing gw1 and not being able to jump, swim, and constantly hitting invisible walls. Don’t you dare say anyone traveled in gw1. Gw2 is traveling, and I thought the mounts looked really fun. Gliders don’t make you go horizontally, and i’m kind of tired of seeing layline everywhere. I’m happy with this and the fact that you will be able to move faster. Waypoints are nice, but I like exploring sometimes and this will be best for that.

It makes no sense to go to Cantha right now. Anyone who has looked at the main map since launch knew we were going to Elona before Cantha because where we are going is already on the map.

The story seems a lot better than HoT. We go from “oh look, we kill another dragon just like the first game” to rogue god with an unclear purpose. We knew what Mordy wanted and how he wanted to do it ever since Scarlet showed up. We don’t know what is driving Balth. Why does he want to be the only god now? Why does he think what happened to Abaddon won’t happen to him?

This is the closest thing anet has done to stirring up interest in Abaddon in a long time, a god who many players want to see return as the main, or a main antagonist despite them saying he is “dead dead.”

This expansion looks great! And I’m SICK OF THE JUNGLE environments so I’m happy!

Right after our final battle with Scarlet, we got a trailer that was CLEARLY an expansion announcement.

Will we be seeing some Elona today via trailer?

People keep mentioning the Canthan looking boat. But the leak was about Elona? Could the leak really have been fake and we are going to Cantha instead of Elona? If so, that is by far the most detailed and well done fake leak I’ve seen lol.

I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it; The only “servers” that should exist are ones where guilds pick to be in them. That way, they get to choose their allies and get used to them (no guesting or random linking nonsense). Oh, your guild leader in your guild and mine are good friends? Oh, you like to do things together in pve and pvp? Well sure, let’s fight for the same world/server/alliance then!

This is how it should have been done years ago when this first came out and STILL should be. There was NOTHING wrong with the alliance system of gw1. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Everyone is hurt by this. It needs to change. But I do like the change of switching maps and not being able to get outnumbered (too many map hoppers ruining outnumbered maps).

I found GFXSETTINGS.GW2.EXE (and the 64 version), but didn’t find just the gw2.exe file. Help? I tried pasting afte rthe GFX one and it didn’t help.

The pips man. If you constantly play on the big dog server, you aren’t ever gonna get those “Outnumbered” +5 pips towards rewards and the legendary (which is the main reason, I’d imagine, that the influx of pvers in WvW are there for).

Then all they would have to do is switch guilds to get the best server to play on, which is the same reason people stacked on winning servers because they were the best server to play on. So that doesn’t answer my question, “So how do you stop people from stacking on winning servers switching to the best server for that day/hour when all they have to do is make a guild and pledge to that server, or join another guild?”

No because the best servers would be the worst to play on if you want pips. Why get 3 pips when you could get 6 or 7 per tick? More and more people, because of the pips and their desire for the legendary and better loot, will want to NOT be on the better servers, which will even out the playing field across the servers. Or they would at least if Anet allowed people to switch for free or went with my guild method.

I did. But this game is old now and most of the active players now weren’t the ones that were active in 2012 and most of the ones now weren’t playing back then. The free thing ended years ago, so now I find myself in a guild in which we have talked for a couple years about doing wvw together and yet because hundreds of members would have to switch servers via paying.

This is a problem I’ve had with this game since it’s beginning. We come in from gw1 with guilds being very close and doing all sorts of pve and pvp together. then comes gw2 which, at first has a very divisive system set up in which people start on different servers, but then they fix it with mega servers for pve, but leave wvw in the dust. I’m tired of not being able to wvw with my guild permanently. And guesting isn’t the solution, nor is making everyone pay money to transfer servers. The solution is what should have been in the system from the beginning; guilds should be able to pledge loyalty towards servers and then EVERYONE in that guild fights on that server. If you don’t want to fight on that server, you can rep another guild. This would drastically increase guilds actively participating in wvw instead of just having zergs dominated by the few lucky guilds that actually managed to have a good amount of people on one server (though they too would benefit from this system).

Servers should die. Alliances should replace them and Guilds should be able to declare their allegiance per season/quarter/whatrver. You should only be allowed to rep one guild for wvw per season unless you quit the guild entirely. This would resolve issues and make it so anyone could play with their guild.

Well it makes sense why they would reward digital prepurchasers with a free slot and not those buying in store. Then they get more money and don’t have to split it with a retail chain.

People should be able to name themselves whatever, and talk about whatever. If people don’t want to see it, just block or turn off the chat that person is on. It saves you time and hassle, as well as anet by not reporting things like this…

Best buy no offence has really crappy service. they don’t sell you a new game on retail for cheaper. they sell it for retail.

gamestop hasn’t a choice but to follow its own rules. bring in a voucher, new or old game dun matter, thay HAVE to drop the price of what you are meant to pay with the discount voucher.

LOL, Best buy sells me for $12 less for every single brand new game I buy (if it’s $60, different amount for different prices). This is a fact, you can’t contradict it. $12 less for NEW games is far better than any deal Gamestop ever has (and I’ve used their deals for years, so I’m speaking from experience).

So 30,000 points gets you $30 then, if I remember correctly? Which is the same amount Best Buy costs for you to get 2 years of savings.

Taking that into consideration, if I bought a $60 game, I’d get 600 points (at the least, not sure if the tax amount causes the points to increase or not) per brand new game purchased. Used ones give you more points but they also cost a lot less and have varying prices, so let’s just focus on the new games. How many games would you have to buy to get 30,000 points?

50 brand new games (a total cost of roughly $3,000). That number even shocked me when I calculated it. In fact, I thought I did it wrong so I did it again again. Maybe I’m tired and am doing something wrong, but 10 points per $ and it’s $60 a game so that’s 600 points. And it takes 30,000 points to get $30 off, so 30,000 divided by 600 is 50 so it takes 50 games at $60 to get 30,000 points, which cost (50 × 60) $3,000.

Continuing on, how much do I spend at Best buy in order to get 20% off? $30 dollars.

20% per game (at $60 a game) is $12 saved per game bought. I have to buy a total of 3 brand new games to get my savings back, and an additional 3 to get the $30 off (12×3).
So all in all I only have to spend $288 dollars at best buy to get the same savings I’d get at Gamestop if I spent $3,000 there.

Now, tell me that isn’t a MASSIVE difference?

game stop if you have a rewards card system on your name, you can pretty mych buy it for the air you breathe.

its 50 in Gamestop aka EB games(usually found in EU countries or border states of the US) however if you have points already invested in Gamestop/EBgames you can just cut the price off by however many points you have and DL and print the voucher. so for a good example, 15000 rewards points is 10 dollars off of “ANY” purchase.
25000 is 20 dollars off. in otherwords cheap cheap for the win.

Lol Gamestop’s point system is a joke (I’ve been a member of it for years and years, and I’ve bought probably 80% of my games from them until I got best buy unlocked). It takes YEARS of buying stuff before you get points that are actually worth anything of value. With Best Buy, I paid $30 for 2-3 years (can’t remember) of 20% off new games. I’ve already made back the $30 in savings and it hasn’t been even 6 months yet, probably. Best Buy has a far, far better program than Gamestop.

Unfortunately, that will be the most likely outcome. You can of course regularly check Gamestop to see if they put any flash discounts on it. I know AmazonUK had one distributor that sold Heart of Thorns at a great discount and was legitimate.

I just don’t understand why a massive chain like Best Buy isn’t on that list? I mean, it’s not like Anet is going to lose money from the sale (I’m sure that would be out of Best Buy’s cut of the game).

Gamestop doesn’t have any sort of discount program for new games. They give you points for buying stuff, and discounts on used games, but not on new games like Best Buy.

Ok, I know this was discussed a lot (particularly a while ago), but I can’t seem to find a topic on it when I search and, due to my schedule, I don’t have the time to look through something like that for 20-30 minutes to find it, so I’m making a topic here. Sorry if this has been answered a million times already.

Can I pre-purchase from a store other than the buygw2 website?

The reason I want to know is because I have gamers unlocked with best buy which means I always get 20% off video games there and I’d like to be able to save my $10-12 anytime I buy a new fully priced game (the savings add up over the years, trust me).

Ok, so everyone is already talking about the challenging group content being the “major feature” that will be revealed. What I don’t see people talking about is the fact that there will be at least 2 other “big announcements” made.

When I see the word announcement, I think of things that we don’t already know about (another words, not specializations).

I’m curious what everyone thinks these announcements will be?

My personal guesses: New non combat activities and leaderboards to encourage continued growth of the community in a positive and horizontal way (stuff that actually is popular and could have leaderboards, like an in game card game where we get a separate wallet for playing cards that we collect over time and play against other people, for example).

My personal hopes: Them somehow working in that Abaddon is behind the release of the Elder Dragons and that Abaddon secretly possessed Kormir and is only appearing like Kormir just to convince the other gods that he is truly dead. Meanwhile, he is secretly controlling the leash behind the Elder Dragons, intentionally trying to get them killed by planting thoughts in the minds of us “heroes” that allow us to take them each down individually, in order for Abaddon to secretly absorb their power until, after the last one is dead and secretly absorbed, he has the power to wipe out the collective might of the other gods, the spirit animals, and the Pale Tree in one massively epic battle that takes place in gw3.

Basically, we take down the dragons in gw2, which leads to the reveal of Abaddon for gw3. What glorious battles await! Wow I let my imagination run a little while there lol.

I hope they don’t nerf it anytime soon. Other than crafting, this is the best way I’m making gold towards legendary!

The pact can’t revert back into the orders because the pact is not the combination of the three orders. The pact is completely seperate from the orders. The orders give some of their resources (such as research and units) to the pact but the orders continued to exist alongside the pact.

And they just coincidentally weren’t doing anything while the pact existed?

The pact needs to be deunionized. The orders function better by themselves, we don’t need all our marbles in one basket, and it’s harder for the enemy to be aware of and attempting to thwart 3 organization’a separate attacks than it is one.

From Apr 28 2005 to October 2006. a year and 4 month 2 expansion. so that mean for HOT. At this stage should be developed at lease the size of Faction.

This is baffling to me. Are you seriously comparing the development time and cost for gw1 to gw2? Do you realize that gw1 (even when it was new) was nothing in terms of size and scope to other games like it?

It wasn’t an mmo.
The entire world wasn’t linked over massive maps, but small instances ones.
Every map had the exact same thing every time you loaded into it (with a max of 8 or so people).
You couldn’t jump.
There was no vertical movement at all, which means they didn’t have to program freaking air like they do with the gliders.
The massive scope and size of gw2’s Tyria I’d far larger than like all of the 4 original games maps if you time out runs from corner to corner.
They didn’t have to program the game to fit hundreds/thousands of players on the same map.

Gw2 was basically anet taking the Diablo like gw1 and making into a full mmo like wow, which takes a lot more resources and time to make. It is an utter joke to compare the development time between gw1 and gw2 because they aren’t even the same genre.

I hate the fact that I can’t target things from distance and even the stupid scepptor a lot of times takes so long to hit that they dodge it easy. something faster and long range is just what guardian needs. Pumped. I don’t need some other mid range weapon, no thanks we have lots of those.
