I, too, dislike de2.O compared to the original.
DE 2.0 is not nearly as good as the original. Nothing beats the Rytlock and Logan frenemy thing.

That last question though
My only concern is if it’s like gw1, then it will be limited to certain amounts of memebers meaning many won’t be allowed to rep the guild in guild battle. This favors smaller guilds but big guilds will have issues determining who gets on the team I’d think.
Didn’t they say this expansion lays the foundations and will make future expansions easier to do somewhere? I wonder what that was referring too?
I predict dual hammers for the New profession and for it to be called The Conqueror.

I thought the idea was one every expansion, not every year. I seriously doubt we get an expansion in 2016. Probably living story 3b and 4 as well as maybe some stuff like sab and WvW tournament and feature qol pack.
As someone who has expressed things he wishes this game to have a lot lately, and received no reply from anet, I’ve lost hope that they listen to everyone.
Armor sets and weapon sets. I shouldn’t have to waste my bag storage on armor sets just because I’m competent enough to know different situations call for different stats.
Also, builds for skills. I should be able to, with one click, switch skill builds. It’s ridiculous that neither of these are in the game now. Just ridiculous.

If you like, you can do a similar crafting method then with ‘zojjas berserker inscription’ which is worth a little less at ~40 gold and is more costly to make, but doesn’t yield nearly as much as the insignia.
Edit: Confused inscription with insignia.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m looking into it
Transfers are already free.
Yes it is 1,800 gems, but that can be earned by transferring gold to gems, costing you nothing but the electric bill for playing the game. They only cost real world money if you choose to make them cost that, it is entirely optional. Similarly, there is no indication that there will be fully free world transfers in the future, aside from those on higher populated servers to move to lower populated servers preceding a WvW tournament.
So set yourself a new goal and start saving your gold.
I’ve talked with other players that have played this game since beta gw2 off and on (myself included) and I’ve never had more than 240g in my bank at one time. I’ve certainly never had more than 500 to 600g collectively over the past few years. I’m not a high school kid that can farm silverwastes 12 runs a day (I have to work and I like to enjoy things in real life, such as spending time with my wife). The only people that could afford the time to farm gold like that are younger people or people that prioritize games (as an adult) more than real life (neither of which am I).
I never said anything about having to farm the gold, just play as you usually do and save. Eventually, you will have the amount you need to transfer into gems.
In your case, I recommend a very easy method through crafting; every day, log in for 5 minutes to make a ‘spool of silk weaving thread’, and turn each one into a ‘bolt of damask’. After you have three of them, make a ‘zojjas berserker inscription’ and sell it for ~55-60 gold.
You will likely have to buy some silk materials to start you off, but once you get started, you will make an income on average of about 30 gold per inscription from this method.
Easy gold, quick gold, no farm.

What anet needs to do to ‘fix’ WvW is combine Green, Red, and Blue servers based on Tier to fill WvW out more. Just like EoTM, but instead Tier based.
I stopped playing WvW on my BL cause there just isnt enough ppl to compete in Blob wars. Instead Ill run EoTM now, which is almost as rewarding and at the same time less stressful. This is the direction WvW needs to take.
I’d prefer LESS blob wars. They are fun from time to time, but capturing things is meaningless when 5 minutes later a blob from another guild comes in and takes it right back, only for the 3rd server to do the same 5 minutes later…
I’d like the population spread out more evenly.
Problem with blob wars, is it works. People generally take the path of least resistance. So there is no combating blob wars unless we put a limit on how many players from X team can get credit for Y capture…ect.
Personally I think WvW is broken and has been since the start of the game. And community? What community? You have 1-3 commanders that think they ‘own’ the BL map(s) and if you dont wanna play along with them your just a troll working against the ‘great blob’. there is no community, never has been.
I agree with this, particularly your second point. One thing that made alliances great in gw1 was that there were a LOT of them and they were all fighting amongst themselves to own cities and, even inside the alliances, individual guilds would have a lot of say, and inside those officers and guild leaders had to be in constant communication.
I really wish they came out with a new system to get rid of the power mad commanders that run the show now days.

I like to enjoy games, not obsess over them (I did that in high school and never again). I shouldn’t have to stress myself farming gold like a mad man in order to transfer. It is most certainly NOT free for most of us.
And if they had free transfers everyone would just transfer to a tier one server, I really hope ANet doesn’t allow for free world transfers.
I disagree. I’m in a guild (480-500 typical base) that would LOVE to be on a Tier 2 or lower server. Here are some of the benefits:
1) Don’t have to wait in queues.
2) Don’t have to worry about zerg fests and getting shouted at to leave the map if you’re not zerging.
3) When you capture stuff, it actually MEANS something (where as on T1 servers it will simply be flipped again in 5 minutes).
4) You’re guild, even if it’s small, would actually contribute and gain notierity amongst your world. You could run the show without worrying about massive guilds like Kill or WvW from JQ (no offense to those guilds, btw, as they are a lot of fun from what I’ve seen!).
5) Some people (if not many) ENJOY the challenge of building up something that starts out weak. I’d love to be apart of being a lower tier guild and building it up to fight with the big dogs some day.
i think it’s safe to assume that guild halls will be megaserver. I mean there is no point whatsoever in making them server based
Yes but one of the primary enjoyments of the guild hall would be claiming and organizing for WvW, which would be impossible for a guild that had members scattered that can’t transfer (due to server pop being full or the 1800 gem price being too expensive).
And of the Guild Halls weren’t megaserver, that would still pose a problem.
Your apparent desire for Guild Halls to use a system that ANet has retired except for the obvious location of WvW would only create issues for more guilds than it would solve. The PvE guilds, the PvP guilds, the general guilds that do a little of everything. All of those would be hurt by the decision to make guild halls server specific.
If a WvW guild has issues with members that can’t transfer spying and telling guilds on another server where your guild is going, then kick the spies. Otherwise there is no issue with megaserver guild halls.
I don’t want Guild halls to be server specific. Members from any world should be able to go to their guilds guild hall. I just want the option to play with your guild mates in wvw for free to be a thing. There are thousands/hundreds of thousands (out of the millions that own the game, maybe more) of players that are impacted by being in a guild that they aren’t on the same server with and can’t enjoy wvw with. That stinks and should be fixed. This should have no impact on pve players as anyone in the guild should be able to go to the guild hall.
One day they probably will drop the concept of players being tied to servers for WvW. Instead for example, tie it to guilds. At the start of the WvW season, everyone is reset. Upon entering WvW, you’re asked which guild you’d like to represent for the season (defaulted to your own home server). Instead of representing your own home server, you represent your selected guild’s server.
Another method would be team signups at the start of the season. Basically, imagine launch day (all servers are reset – first come first serve), but for teams/factions instead of servers.
As for a free transfer with HoT, there won’t be any. It would have already been announced as a feature if they were going to do that. You’ll have to wait for the next WvW tournament, which will likely take place a few months after HoT when activity dies down.
I agree with you, but I can’t be 100% and i don’t want to pay for something that, in a month, is announced to be free, know what I mean? I just wish anet would come on here and comment, even if it is to say servers will always be around and will always cost money, then I could at least have peace of mind.
Still waiting for some anet employee to respond to this…
The point of servers is so there are teams. Making wvw a megaserver makes servers pointless. You’re supposed to join a server you want to support and fight for.
There was a bug a couple weeks back where everyone in wvw was made allies and no one could fight. I think that’s what you’re hoping for wvw to become. Spoiler: it’s not.
False, that is not what I am hoping wvw to become. On the contrary, the greatest thing of this kind were alliances in guild wars 1 because you had your entire guild fighting for that alliance. Currently, in WvW, you have guilds that have 50% or more of their members fighting for 1 specific world, not 100% (except for maybe a few exceptions).
I simply want an opportunity for me and the other members in the guild I’m in that aren’t a part of the server the rest of the guild is on (40% of us are scattered) to be able to play together, fighting for the same server, as the rest of the guild. I want it easy to have 100% of the guild fighting for the same world without having to kick longtime friends simply because they aren’t on that server. And I want it to be able to be done without causing 40% of members (out of 490, that is 196 players, roughly) to have to pay $20 a piece ($3,920), or really $30 a piece ($5,700) considering you have to buy 2,400 gems (you can’t just buy 1,800 gems). That’s garbage. How can a guild raise those kinds of funds to transfer people?
We should have to leave so many members behind due to expensiveness of transfers. As BAD as wvw is on the lower servers, you’d think Anet would be offering free transfers to them at this point.
i think it’s safe to assume that guild halls will be megaserver. I mean there is no point whatsoever in making them server based

I’d really like it if an Anet employee would comment on this… I don’t want to waste my money…
TBH, free transfers won’t solve anything unless they did 1 of 2 things.
Either open free transfers to the Bottom 2-3 servers only.
or
Forced free transfers off the bottom 3 servers and then shut them down.Anything else will just be people swapping between servers that aren’t in need of transfers.
I may have a large guild that may want to trasnfer to a low pop server in order to all be together and be able to have an impact on wvw without worrying about zerg force…
I put this up recently as a curiosity, but now I’m heavily considering transferring worlds unless Anet plans to allow us free world transfers or makes wvw go to mega servers like the pve people have.
I don’t want to have to buy 1800 gems (really 2,400 due to limited options) or $30 worth of gems to transfer if they are going to allow us free ones in the future. I’d be ticked if that happened and I lost that money.
Proof that the gw2 heroes are weaker than the gw1 heroes when I easily dispatched this villain in Factions, and yet now he is (along with the revenant class in general) supposed to turn the tide against the dragons.
My gw1 Monk would smite these dragons easily… I guess we have experienced degeneration over the past hundreds of years.
Give me the ability to fly (no, not mounts) like in second life and dress up like Dwight Schrewt!

WvW could be more guild based, instead random server population based. It would encourage pugs to join proper wvw guilds as well.
Guilds leaders would sign up their guild for next week WvW, specified size of the guild there and times when they are expected to play. Then out of all the signed guilds there could be randomized world created with guilds stacked on them with similiar sizes to each other from the opposing ‘servers/worlds’. Guilds would no longer fight to win the week for some abstract points, but for things of actual value: some Guild Hall upgrades, new skins, discounts at npc’s, gems, guild siege blueprints…
Also it could solve the ‘problem’ of ppl doing scrims at maps instead in OS or GH arena, because, if there would be good enough rewards for winning matches, then it would be much more preferred to eliminate any enemy forces you see on the map instead of organizing some sparring fights with them.
This all could lead later on to forming guild alliances or guild ‘wars’ so you have high chance that XY guild could be on your ‘world’ but ZX guild would be most likely on the world you fight against. Leader would just have to specify which guilds he would like to meet/avoid while signing up for next match – open the panel and you see “We are at war with ZX this week” – increases chance to fight against them, “We are friendly with XY” – increases chance to be on the same world, etc. Many possibilities, if only a system like this could be created.
Can someone from anet please read this person’s suggestion? This is good stuff!

I played wow off and on for 3 years and, unless something changed since Lich king, it never added random content the size of an expansion or the living story. Gw2 had updated a huge amount more than wow did for me back then, in fact the only times wow updated that I remember was right before or during expansion time. And they charge monthly, something anet does yet they add content for free.
Also, your not just paying for the expansion, but also the free content and living story that comes after it until the next expansion.

The bottom line if this isn’t resolved, your going to have (once more) low, overall, guild participation in wvw because guilds have a large amount of members in their guilds that don’t represent their world.
And you can argue that people shouldn’t join guilds that aren’t from their world if they want to wvw, but you realize probably half the guilds in gw2 were people that played together in gw1 in a guild/alliance and want to stick together here, right?
Early on in the game, it was difficult to all be on the same server because there were so many new players so quickly (anet had to suspend sales for a while) that server’s became full quickly, making it impossible to get all your friends on the same server in the first place.
This situation has been annoying for far too long and, in my opinion, needs to be solved before ANYTHING else in this game.

Since the inclusion of megaservers guilds have become increasingly more comprised of members from various wvw worlds (due to it being difficult to recruit from just your world when your on a map that may not even have a lot from your world on it).
I LOVE what megaservers have done for pve. I can actually play with all my guild mates whenever I want when it comes to pve or pvp.
The one thing that has been left behind is wvw. I can’t play wvw with most of my guild because they are on a different world. I’ve been on JQ since before this game launched, but the guild I’ve been in for most of that time (not at the beginning) is on Dragonbrand.
Both those world’s are full. I’m unable to transfer to that world (even if I wanted to pay the outrageously overpriced fee).
Upcoming wvw changes are actually going to make it WORTHWHILE to do wvw as a guild (as opposed to just zerging). The new guild claiming features are superior to the current wvw system. What I’m saying is that, once this update launches, wvw will be different than what it was (in terms of guilds) at launch.
It’s ridiculous that, on top of buying HoT, in order to actually enjoy the wvw changes with my guild, I have to deal with full servers and fees.
With HoT, Anet should offer free world transfers to all purchasers. You say it’s ridiculous, but they made mega servers in pve (essentially giving everyone in that aspect of the game FREE unlimited server transfers WHENEVER they want by just clicking the “join on map” icon with your party members), why can’t they give wvw players something here?
If they truly want guilds to do things more together, they have to allow people a way to transfer in bulk to be with their guilds. How can you convince a guild of 450 people (maybe 150 of which are on a different world) to pay the ridiculous fee to transfer when pve players get it for free whenever they want because of the megaserver?
The second thing they need to do is expand the world population allowed per world.

What I wish for WvW
Instead of zergs (which, I’ll admit, can be fun at times) like we have now, I wish we had this setup like it was supposed to be from the beginning; guilds taking, controlling, and defending different structures/points on the map.
Whatever happened to guild pride and unity? What, exactly, is the point of guilds when you can just go in and join the zerg? Oh, you can “claim something,” you say?
Only until one of the many insulting and rude commanders shouts at you to un-claim it so they can start upgrading it.
My “dream” for wvw is what it always has been. I want guilds to stick together and to coordinate with other guilds over chat and Ventrilo/teamspeak. I don’t want it all to be a big mess of randomness that means nothing.
I also HATE the fact that structures change control so quickly. Keeps/towers/etc. should be designed in a way that it actually MEANS something when they are taken (who cares about losing garrison when you can just take it right back in 5 minutes?).
WvW should be redesigned (in my opinion) for it to be harder to capture things, for it to take longer, for guilds to be rewarded for working together instead of in zergs, and obviously for experience/chest/wvw rank rewards to be increased as well (because of things taking longer).
You should be able to make (in an hour) just as much experience/wvw rank/and earn chests defending a single object (whether it’s under attack or not) as people do capturing objects straight for an hour in a zerg.
WvW should encourage the defense of structures.
I predict news for Saturday.

I enjoyed reading this synopsis more than the story of living story seasons 1 and 2 combined, I think (and I enjoyed those stories!). Absolutely fantastic thinking!
What would be the point of raids if not to get a chance at something valuable like gear? Achievement points? Some other kind of massive reward that is actually worth it and won’t be worthless like wow armor that goes obsolete every 6 months? because that’s what raids mean to most people; eternal grind to get temporary armor. There needs to be some kind of epic reward for it that isn’t gear. Otherwise it’s just not fun to spend hours doing a clearthrough that could end up in failure.

There are things in gw2 that I dislike, but how they do combat isn’t one of them. No to the return of the trinity. No to needing 3000 arcane damage dps being monitored by raid leaders in order to stay in the group. That was so stressful and so annoying.
I just want to say thank you for referencing one of the greatest player events in the history of mmos in that glorious game, Eve Online. I was playing Eve when that happened and it was HILARIOUS watching the entire economy of the whole game fail like a real life depression in the economy. It was phenomenal watch Goonswarm cause so much havoc (as they often do in mmos) lol.
I, too, don’t understand why we don’t have templates we can save. It doesn’t seem like it would be that complicated and it is a quality of life enhancement like little other things are, but maybe I’m wrong and it takes a lot of programming?

I’m stunned that it took this long for someone to post a perspective this silly and ridiculous (good job community for being better than I thought!).
If you played WoW or (pretty much) any major mmo prior to gw2 launching, you’d be paying $15 a month PLUS paying for each expansion that comes out. Gw2 changed things and a lot of mmos are either (or have become due to failures) buy to play. Now, after 2.5 years of free content and the promise of free content UNTIL the next expansion comes out, you have the ridiculous audacity to think you should never help pay for any content ever again? How absurd this perspective is. Do you think it is free to develop games? Enjoy waiting until expansion 2. I just do NOT understand your point of view at all.
Sheesh, jump to conclusions do ya? (Officespace reference +1 for Dulfite). It’s 1 free for all and 2 free for those that get the expensive ones.
Alright. See you in 2025
I was typing mine before yours was posted. We both randomly put it at 2025 lol.
No. Do you realize how long that would take to develop? Think of the land masses alone. We haven’t even (in the curren Gw2 map, nor in the upcoming expansion) gotten the land masses unlocked that we had in Prophesies yet (granted, these zone maps are so much bigger and have more things). You’re basically asking them to do everything (land wise) they did for this upcoming expansion, plus the last 2.5 years, and tripling that lol.
Gw3 would be out by 2025 in that case.
