Just got royally whooped by a warrior in a build I haven’t seen before, involving a shield and a hammer and barely taking any damage from anything..
Anyone know what build that is?
Looking to rolling a Ele, but you don’t see any good ones in sPvP really to begin with – What’s the current accepted ‘decent’ sPvP build?
I’ve been seeing a few of these out in the WvW fields running around alone, doesn’t generally attack you, but barely takes any damage and just plain refuses to die even with 5 people hammering away at them while they run, making it disturbingly far before they start going down.
Anyone know what build this is?
In short, went into the Sapphire jumping puzzle, someone opened the door and I just walked in and looted the chest. However the achievement didn’t trigger.
Logged in another character, went back to the same puzzle and did it ‘the right way’ with the two key parts, unlocked the door and looted the chest. Still no achievement..
What can I do to get this working?
If you want to roam in zergs – Go Necro, high survivability and lots of AoE.
Thieves are still not awesome in zergs due to low health and AoE nuking their ‘thing’, stealth.
Rangers are… Rangers, only play them if you love them in WvW.
You can’t stealth spam and be glass cannon.
And I assume you’re a Ele bullkittenting about what your gear is.
In this topic: A whole bunch of skilless warriors trying to defend being the most OP and being buffed.
Just to add, probably the best Mesmer I have ever seen.

That’s disturbing…
As for the racial skills, what racials, if any, would a 80 WvW mesmer actually use?
Last time I checked in on engi, it was all supply crate and mortar was utterly horrible while Elixir X was so so and far outdone by supply still.
Has anything changed?
I have no idea what you’re on about. What I do know is that we have quite a few trolls who continue to throw out various useless siege equipment in front of gates during zergs ending up with tons of wasted resources.
Since when can you waypoint into a contested location?
Season 1 is going forward as we described, however nothing about future seasons is set in stone. We’ll take a look at the data we get from the first season and will absolutely make adjustments so that future seasons are even better than the first one.
My concern with four leagues is simply that there isn’t enough variety at that point. I could very well be wrong, but we are going to try season 1 this way and then we’ll take a look at how it played out.
And that pretty much sums up all that is wrong with GW2. 0 foresight.
They did try foresight by telling us what going to happen and the player base hated it. The player base wants it to be this way.
That’s not foresight, it’s bad PR.
- We are doing to do A.- We don’t really think that will help, why not do B instead.
- No, we’re doing A. Please look forward to it!
What players think on a forum is rarely relevant and what the players need is rarely the same as what they think.
Engineers are all about the gadgets, alchemy and explosives.
The suggested idea includes none of these..
Elixir X is not a bad skill in itself, my only issue with it is that it’s literally just a 50/50 to get one of two other classes skills… Something unique would have been far better, even if it’s just flavor.
Such as brute being a golem instead with matching flavor skills
And tornado being ’Army of mini-golems or airstrike or whatever..
In its current form it just feels lazy. "Oh we couldn’t be bothered so we copied this.
They are not high enough currently, agreed and we will be making changes to the rank-up chests to make them significantly more rewarding.
Please tell me it will apply retroactively.
Seems the direction of WvW is changing at about the same interval as my washing schedule
The man already said a week or two ago, that you cannot play WvW and expect to get 100% of the game from it. Which to many (myself included) was a disappointing slap in the face.
(I am paraphrasing because I am too lazy to find the quote). But essentially he did say that one should expect to have to leave WvW and participate in PVE. Which is inline with the the grinding associated with Legendary crafting etc.
Having fun in WvW isn’t going to sell any gems, now is it?
Yes. Uneven PvP in any form where a large time investment in another form, such as PvE, can be done to gain a significant advantage, is bs.
Here’s to hoping the AP’s are for “Capture a keep while having the outnumbered buff” and other outnumbered related APs.
Rejoice in the tears
Just do like that other game and have AoE deal half damage or less to pets. They’re laggy and quite tardy to begin with, no need to treat them like anything but a ranged melee weapon for rangers.
A friend of mine gets precursors pretty much at will. He’s gotten 5 Sparks and the Lover. He got the last spark like a week ago and then he decided he wanted the legendary shortbow so the next day he through a couple bows in the forge and voila! He got the lover. Think he’s spent like 400G in the forge and has gotten 3000-4000G out of it. Probably because he is a Thief. ANet loves their thief.
If you use stealth while you put stuff in toilet you get more precursors.
I hid in a stall and threw money in the toilet, upon flushing nothing was returned. Now what?
Or just hire NPCs at gold-per-15-minutes rate that will charge a treb up as required.
As someone in the US, I like being able to throw money at things I don’t like to sort things out.
Just hire NPC, set what it should be charged to and angle and pay for X time and he’ll get going. Firing about half the rate of a human and if he dies, your money is lost.
While hammers are overdoing it at the moment (Diminishing Returns? Anyone?) I’d love to see a Reason for using anything else.
As for the AC’s, make them skill shots like EVERYTHING else.
We’d have a a solid army of siege monkeys ready, me included, if there was ANY type of incentive.
Like, I don’t know, XP and some loot, since the best place for a level 2 newly created character is in a treb somewhere far away from fights.
But no, why would you, can’t get XP that way so kitten it.
Anatomically unlikely, horrid voices, pointless horns, and armour clipping galore.
Mind you, I can’t stand Asura either, ugly little grey spitballs that they are.
Oh, and a good reason I don’t play Norn. Cube root law. Besides, Norn pretty much play entirely on the myth that Vikings were large people when studies show they had an average height around 10-25cm shorter than modern man.
Which was still taller than many other people during that time, but sure.
Hahaha, it’s amazing, we’re getting overrun by Crystal Desert as soon as they log in, and so does the other server we’re with.
They even let us take back our keep just so they could get the repairs for it for free and then just took it back 2 seconds later.
Invading the keep was fun, our full force got held at the gate while they had (I counted) 25 people just sitting on the lord in case of AoE. Doing nothing.
I’m just going to switch server next week, this is just silly.
Btw Karl was on the pvptv channel this morning and he said that the fgs trail and its damage is unintented and they are working to fix it. I dont know if he was talking about the damage when used properly or specifically about the bug when you use it with flash and the trail happens in the same spot same as using it against a wall.In any case this seems like a nice topic to post this info
Btw if you want to hear from devs go watch that pvp stream. The stream is worth it by itself and you get as a bonus to interact with gw2 devs like karl or jon quite often as they drop by.
Linkage?
Just stop jumping in places where the zerg isn’t.
Just hand the bonuses to the PvE crowd and leave it out of WvW.
Incentive because you help your server and yourself in PvE, still doesn’t affect WvW.
Problem currently, to me, is the size of the WvW.
Back in Warhammer Online there were guilds who would server hop and take their 20 something and just plow straight through the PvP fields to dominate each side fully, just to make a statement. They’d usually go to the lowest most crappiest servers which were being outdominated by the opposing team.
This isn’t as easy in GW2 as the Eternal Battlegrounds takes hours upon hours upon hours and your 20-30 tight knit team might just be overrun by a 50 man zerg and there’s nothing you can do about it.
What WOULD be excellent would be to have the Eternal Battlegrounds lead to the different server maps after conquering SM and then their keep, at which point they can go into their map and if that keep is taken, they’re given a buckload of points and the WvW resets, but the losing team is protected for X amount of time (meaning the winner has to focus on the other team if they want to score more points.
Reset and change servers after Y amount of points have been reached.
This is incentive for high-skilled guilds to actually form up and get involved. It’s even more incentive for them to server hop to the bottom tier just to push the server to T1 and then repeat.
Too much time makes those that group up not care too much as their efforts aren’t rewarded enough.
So WvW would be the fastest way?
Now assume our server has no decent zerg going and we get wiped more often than not…
On a sidenote, where do I get the soldier armor?
Hi there,
Having just come back after leaving about a month after release (life happened) I’m looking at starting fresh on a new server as mine is.. Well..
Anyways, I’m mainly looking at WvW and don’t really care for PvE in GW2 that much, however I’m willing to invest the effort needed to get to 80.
What’s the fastest way to get there? WvW XP isn’t exactly amazing and I don’t want to take up a slot that could be used by someone who is credit to team..
Big love,
Bunny
It sounds like it currently comes down to warriors, guardians a few elemental for good measure and a Mesmer to.
What’s the current state of various professions in WvW?
How’s the balance?
What professions are vital for WvW?
What roles does they fill?
Wild stab in the dark: If the sender is deleted before you read it, it may show up as you due to no other sender existing.
This is not official nor necessarily true, but it does make sense.
Does anyone have the right order of which to do it? Being tone deaf makes these things a tad hard for me..
You know, I transfered to SoS last night without any issues…
While terrible and a tragedy, I’m not sure what this has to do with General GW2 talk..
