What Race is best for warrior.

Mine is a human, but the spirit animal transformations of the Norn would be good, and as Unleashed said, the Grasping Vines from Sylvari would be good for a group build. But for the most part, you’ll really only be using warrior utility/elites since they’re by far better suited for the various combat roles of Warrior.

Help with Titan's Duo Build

Simple answer from me would be Hammer with Mace/Shield. Armor would be Soldiers or Knights to stack some defense. Build at least enough in the crit line to get +50% crit chance against stunned targets. Impact sigil on Hammer, Paralyzation/Hydromancy for Mace and Shield. Whatever you want for either survivability or CC utility skills. Heal is up to you. Don’t really have a good build setup made for this as I haven’t run it before, but should be great for setting up easy kills. Hammer has knockdown, knockback, aoe stun + burst. Mace/Shield has 2 stuns, 1 of them is really long on the Burst skill with mace, a daze, 2 blocks. Should prove a pretty good support build to compliment a good thief.

I use a similar setup but with GS instead of Hammer. Usually solo, to small group of maybe 3-4 people, so I prefer the GS for the mobility, but all my guildies love having me around since I seem to always be the focus of the enemy groups, while I can soak a lot, and put out lots of stuns.

EDIT Threw a build together. Utilities can change at your discretion, and just change the Signet recharge trait if you change them, but you’ll find it makes you pretty tanky.

Skull Crack with Mace burst will last a good 3.5-4s. I’d lead off with the shield stun first, see if you can make them freak and use a stun break. Watch for Stability icon, then smack em with Skull Crack. Swap to Hammer, hit em hard, then choose to either use Hammer burst ability for aoe stun/burst dmg, or back to mace/shield to tank up and wait for another skull crack. Should work really well as a solo roamer build as well I would think, but especially with bursty rogues around to take advantage of your CC.

EDIT 2 For the Sharpening Stone, just use the Hardened one instead. By far cheaper, and if you need that extra 1-2% bonus, then that’s really on you, and not the food.

Pistol/dagger is quite possibly the best overall spec we have atm for WvW. The #3 with that setup just got changed and had Torment added to it. With some good condition damage, you can put out some very solid damage on players, all while maintaining a decent bit of range, can move into melee and hit CnD when needed for some stealth, and just dominate people typically.

If I were zerg surfing, I would for sure be using Longbow instead of rifle, but mostly plan on using this build for solo/small group roaming with the guild, where we focus more on single target bursting our targets. The should healing is about 1.2k per, which isn’t great, but it’s enough to make a little bit of a difference in the middle of a fight since they’re on semi-short cooldowns. As for stability, all my shouts remove conditions, which includes stuns/roots and such as well. But it’s like I said in my first post, this build is more just a guideline for what I just threw together last night. There are plenty of interchangable bits to this build to suit your needs however you see fit.

So, decided to play around with my warrior a little tonight as it’s been about 6 months since I last played it, and decided to put together a build that focused on some group support and ranged dps. My guild, when we have the people on to do a small roaming group, is usually not ever more than 5 people on, so I end up solo/duo/trio a lot. Most of my guild is into Thief right now, so since they’re focused more on melee’ing, I figured I’d try switching out of my Thief and Ranger and giving my Warrior a go.

Weapons: Rifle, Sword/Warhorn weapon swap for sword charge mobility, swiftness for group, as well as vigor for group, weakness on enemies and condition cleansing.

Sigils: Bloodlust/Battle for Might on swap, although really up to preference

Armor: I went with full Berserker to maximize my damage output from range

Runes: Went with Soldier for the shout condition removal bonus

Primary focus of this build is to provide group with vigor and swiftness through the Warhorn, while also putting Weakness on the enemy when they close on you to keep your survivability up. Shouts to heals and do condition removal for the group. Rifle for high burst damage and spreading bleeds, plus a Kill Shot that manages to hit multiple targets for 10K+ is a thing of beauty.

The first trait in Tactics can really be left up to you for your choice, as 1, 2, 3, and 6 are all very good choices. Rifle has the knockback and cripple, S/W has weakness, a nice execute to use at enemy low hp, and the charge on a short cooldown you can use to either close the gap or widen it if you get caught in a bad way in melee. On My Mark utility can be substituted for Fear Me to add in some extra cushion if needed. I’m pretty sure that about covers it for me tonight.

Feel free to give me some constructive feedback or questions you may have. I am by no means a Warrior expert, especially considering I’ve just returned to the game after about a half year off, but the build worked well enough for me solo roaming tonight. Had a lot of 1v1’s and only lost 1 to a very well played warrior, a few 1v2, 1v3’s that I still managed to eek out, and then a 1v1 that quickly turned to a 1v8 or so and managed to get away with all the mobility offered in this build. Was a fun first night of testing that went well, considering I didn’t even have my small group this build was meant for.

EDIT Food Buffs: Currently using the level 70 Squash soup for Precision/Crit damage, and the level 60/65(whichever it is) Sharpening Stone. I’m too cheap to buy the level 80 versions, although the level 80 Power/Crit squash soup would be preferable, but about 5x’s as expensive.

So change out CS1 for 2, and CS7 for 8, and change SA5 for 4? For the elite, I wasn’t really sure what to take, but I generally have Daggerstorm equipped just simply because it’s awesome. Tested my setup a bit out in WvW and could handle 1v1’s and 1v2’s, and just intend for this to be a decent solo roaming/small group WvW build, but with viability when mixed into having to go with zergs for siege. Having just come back to the game, started trying that 0/20/30/20/0 spec with d/p and really just didn’t care for the pistol offhand. Figured it was a very good spec to stick with, but wasn’t really sure what all I needed to switch up gear wise to better suit the sword style combat. I think I’m mostly using berserker gear and sitting around the 12-13k hp range. Does that seem to be a pretty good spot for sword’s sorta prolonged skirmishing style?

So, I’m tired of Dagger/Dagger and Dagger/Pistol, Pistol/Dagger builds and am really wanting to give Sword/Dagger a shot, but have no idea how to play it or even spec it, gear it, etc. Have been browsing the forums, hoping to find a build listed for it but haven’t really found one. Was thinking of doing the 0/20/30/20/0 build that’s built around stealth, and just using the gear and such I had for that, but would really like to know what some tried and true good builds are. Thanks to anyone who actually has some that can help!

EDIT Just came back to the game after 5-6 months off, so no clue what all has really changed, just wanting to try and get back into the swing of things on my Thief when I’m not on my Ranger, and wanting to give S/D a shot.

I’ve just returned to the game recently after like 6 or so months off, maybe even more. Have been playing my ranger mostly, but been wanting to try out a new build on my thief since my guild is gearing up for a small thief group. She’s currently dagger/dagger burst, but I’ve always been kind of interested in a sword/dagger spec. This spec looks fun to play, and going to be using my elementalist I’m leveling as a small group roamer. Does this also include the ability to do well during tower/keep sieges as well with the scepter/dagger setup, or will swapping out to a staff during those times still be effective? Any plans to post your actual spec so I can take a look at it? Figure it’ll help to get used to this build while I do some leveling out in WvW with my guild.

Gave this build a shot tonight with only some slight variances due to me being completely friggin broke and not being able to afford switching a few things around, and was loving it. Performs well, has decent damage output for the survivability, and don’t think I lost any 1v1’s or even 1v2’s, and could just back out of anything higher than that if I started running into trouble. Pretty good for a solo/small group roam build.

As stated, you’ll wanna go with Berserker statted weapons and armor, so Power, Precision, and Crit Dmg. For the jewelry, I recommend going with Valkyrie, for Power, Vitality, Crit dmg. It’ll add about 3k hp to you, and if you are quick on the reactions, those extra 3k hp will save your life time and again. With that setup, you’ll still have like 45% crit rate which is more than enough for a burst spec to finish someone off.

To my very limited experience with my Guardian, I’m loving her 0/5/30/30/5 build, with Greatsword and Staff. Had good damage output, and great self healing, along with a decent group heal with Staff #4. Greatsword binds were changed around in a patch, so you aren’t going crazy. As far as karma farming, that’s typically done in Straits of Devastation for level 70-80 range, and also there is a level 80 karma farm in Cursed Shores, although I’ve not done any of that yet, so I can’t go into details on it. For the karma God Temple armor, 42k karma a piece, and you’ll want to focus on the Power/Toughness/Vitality gear from them, and then a mixture of Valkyrie, Knights, or Clerics depending on what roles you are wanting to fill.

Here’s the spec link, with the utilities I’m currently using. The heal you can use the Signet heal for an extra condition purge every 10 seconds and a much larger heal on a longer cooldown, or go with Shelter for a smaller heal on a shorter cooldown, but you also gain might when you block with that spec, and you block all attacks for 2 seconds when you use Shelter. With those blocked attacks giving you Might, the Altruistic Healing trait is healing you for each blocked attack also. Kinda a 50/50 on which heal to use, I tend to switch them up.

So, it seems pretty much all the important events that tie into things people need like the dungeon, god temple karma vendors, are all bugged, and have been for over a week now. Is there any plan from ArenaNet to fix Orr, or is ArenaNet just saying forget the rest of the game and just worrying about horribly implemented 3 day exclusive event, and a horribly repetitive Fractal dungeon grind for even more gear, when we were told there was no grind. Lion’s Arch is now just filled with map chat spam for Fractals, and the new trial accounts being spammed by gold sellers.

Is this the new Guild Wars 2.1? I’m sure I’m not the only one who absolutely hates the new content. Feels like the rest of the game is just being forgotten about.

Personally for me, I HATE Hammer on my Guardian, but love it on my Warrior. Feels clunky on Guardian to me, but Warrior has a lot of CC with it and still feels like it puts out good damage. But that’s just my feel on it.

Here’s my fresh 80 guardian. She’s using a variation on the 0/5/30/30/5 build with GS and Staff swap. Using Knight’s armor with Vampirism runes currently, has the AC Prec/Vit/Healing GS and Staff, 42% crit dmg, 658 healing power to go along with those stats. Not really sure what all else I can do to make her better. Prec/Vit/Healing backpack, Knights earring and necklace with the other earring being from the Karka event, and 2 Cleric rings with Berserker jewels in them and the Karka earring.

I’m looking for a Greatsword, Sword/Something build like this that focuses on Altruistic Healing and spreading boons around, that also has some defensive capabilities for when I switch to Sword. This looks like it’s pretty much what I was working towards. The Predator is one of the very few legendaries I actually wouldn’t mind getting. Getting a Steampunk Charr M24 Sniper Rifle for my warrior sounds like fun for a Rifle burst build. As with most every Legendary item, you’ll primarily be getting them for the graphic alone, as a lot of them have pretty terrible stat distribution. But ya, feel free to try and farm up a Hunter and then work towards Predator. As a Warrior, we actually use the scope that’s on the gun, unlike Engineers who just hipfire with a sniper rifle…

Shortbow focused build

Entertaining video, but I couldn’t but wonder how in the world they just didn’t get melee focused down near instantly. Any idea what spec is being used in that vid, and what stat setup for the gear? Would be kinda curious to try out that setup. Tested mine last night and it went well enough, but I’d like to find a way to bring it some more utility outside of the sorta crap venom heals since I’m not stacked vitality enough for them to make a bigger difference.

Nothing really synergizes with shortbow. And it’s meant to be used in zergs and such, and utilities are whatever you want. The venoms I chose are for sharing root poison and the heal reduction poisons. It’s just a good, somewhat bursty group build I’ve thought about trying.

Going to still have good burst potential, while also having the poisons for utility and venom share, and healing off poison procs. Still has dual daggers for weapon swap. Using Berserker armor and daggers, with Valkyrie jewelry and shortbow. Would use a Rage rune on the shortbow, to stack with the Quickness from trait, and consider using Haste instead of Shadow Refuge and have 3 forms of Quickness to boost your trick arrow goodness.

What do you all think?

WvW Sniper Build

Engineers and Rangers both suffer from it, constantly. It’s a huge bug that really seems to affect all ranged attacks in the game, as even my necro and elementalist get the obstructed and out of range messages quite often, even when in melee range of the target.

Ya, would be nice, but I’m not seeing ArenaNet putting forth a whole lot of effort to try and fix things like this, considering there are bugs which have been around since closed beta that still persist, and numerous bugs/issues that arise with every change they make to the game, and they seemingly do not even watch the race forums.

On my more defensive combat build, I was using sword and shield with hammer swap, but I also carried a warhorn to swap into the shield slot for speed, and a rifle to swap to the hammer slot for sieges, but in my current spec, just using sword and warhorn with a rifle swap, and trying out a glass cannon build. I put out pretty numbers, but I also squish way faster.

Remove the awful squeak that Human Females have on numerous abilities. Greatsword all abilities, Hammer ability 2-4, Heartseeker, and I’m told Rifle abilities for Engineers have it on at least one ability. There are normal combat yells/grunts/noises on most abilities, please add them to ALL abilities so that we aren’t constantly squeaking like little yiffing girls. Hoping this gets seen by a dev since they don’t seem to pay any attention at all to the race sub forums.

It’s the single most annoying sound in the game, and I can’t believe they added it in, when they have perfectly normal and acceptable combat sounds with most weapons, then just decided to throw in the squeak with 2h and on Heartseeker. My warrior was in her 40’s before trying out 2h weapons which was what I was going to end up with on her, and I wasn’t going to reroll her for a 5th time. It’s kind of infuriating.

Plans to change Female Squeak?

Are there any plans by ArenaNet to change the horrible, nonsense Squeak noise that female humans make when attacking? So far I’ve found it on EVERY Greatsword attack, on Hammer, it’s on skill 2-5, but on skill 1 you have the very normal grunt sound. I’ve also noticed that my Thief does it when using Heartseeker but no other skills that I’m aware of. All the rest of the attacks have the normal, appropriate combat grunt/shout noises but those that I’ve listed there. Can we PLEASE get rid of the squeak and just switch them over to the normal grunt/combat noises that the rest of the skills use. No other race in the game has ridiculous squeaks like this on some of their weapons.

Anyone have a good Mace + Shield with Hammer swap defensive build? Gonna be using Power/Toughness/Vitality armor with Dolyak runes, going for a pretty tanky build that’ll have some serious staying power as well as pretty good CC to support the small guild group I run with. I just don’t have the slightest idea what to be looking for in the build other than like the +90 toughness when using a shield. Any build advice you vets can give on this, would be much appreciated.

Engineer Leveling Build?

Starting up an engineer, and just looking to the community here to help suggest a build and setup to work towards that will help make my leveling easier. Not really sure what route to take on my engineer. Thought I was gonna be having fun using Flamethrower, but it’s damage seems extremely underwhelming so far, and now I have no clue what to do. Any help you veteran engineers can suggest for good ol’ Admiral Skrewball would be much appreciated.

Carrion, it looks like nobody threw any attacks your way during the attack. I’ve been damaged and even downed plenty while using Whirling Axe, but I also flat refuse to dodge while using it, on principle, as well as only finding out you could dodge during it last night.

Anxiety, hopefully I’ll get to see ya before our matchups change. I’ll be the human female thief running around in mostly T2 human cultural armor and the Shredder exotic crafted mask, more than likely solo, with the TNS guild tag. Mesmers are a fun, usually very difficult fight if I can’t get the drop on em.

You can still deal plenty of damage with a toughness spec. Sure, you won’t have the extremely high burst of the burst specced and geared players, but you can still be able to do damage just fine. And of course gear and spec are going to be playing a big role in how you perform. The same is true in any game, pretty much ever. It sounds like you are just wanting the ability to have a well rounded stat set while being able to perform like a specialized player. Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Although I don’t understand the point in having cake if you can’t eat it. Seems silly.

You only evade the attacks by using dodge. You take damage normally if you aren’t dodging. Dagger Storm has ranged reflect and stability, but tbh, I’ve been knocked back/down, rooted, snared, chilled and all that even while doing Dagger Storm. Thief Whirling Axe can only do more if we’re specced for more power and crit/crit damage than the warrior. But let me reiterate. I’m 100% for the removal of the ability to dodge while doing this stolen ability. It should be an exact copy of the warrior one if nothing else.

Anxiety, was the thief who did that a female human running around more than likely solo? I’ve just transferred to N. Shiverpeaks and trying out a backstab build, and while I do feel sorta dirty, I’ve set it up so I can perform more than one role, and I rarely use Heartseeker. Thieves are more or less meant to be a burst class, but when it comes to zerg on zerg action, we lose a lot of our intended purpose to aoe spam. Shortbow does a decent job of helping with that, albeit at a shorter range than most others. I normally run a condition build with dagger/pistol when doing zerg stuff, but using this backstab build I threw together for small group/solo’ing.

Backstab is not the problem.

Different weapon sets are built around different principles. They should inherently play differently, it’s about giving us the choice to play how we want. Speccing for your chosen play style should make you much better at it than if you were to be using another weapon setup. Respecs are cheap in this game, and that’s a good thing; it allows you to play around, find specs that you like and then find ways to make them even better. Naturally, gear and stats from your trait lines should of course make your overall performance much better if you are gearing properly for your chosen play style.
