These are the sort of bad matches I’m looking for:

  • All solos vs full premade.
  • One side wins by a large margin (250+), excluding courtyard.
  • One team has killer hares and another has sickly dragons.

It saddens me that the standard bulk of the PvP community has pitted that the reason they lose is because the other team is stacked.

IT’S PVP. NOT PVE

back in the day for solo q, the excuse was that “my team sucked”
now it’s “their team is better”

I can’t believe this is all there is for 6 months.

It’s been over 2 years now and we still have largely the same skill set that was there at release with the same tired weapons, a large number of bugs unaddressed, and the same, shallow build diversity with still a huge number of blatantly terrible skills/traits around.

I realise there’s an expansion in the works but this game has been seriously boring for far too long.

I’ve come back to the game after a bit, and play pretty casually with my brother, Lux. we mostly will duo queue unranked, but even then there are premades there. Sometimes we play them back to back to back, and lose and lose and lose, but sometimes we do well.

But doing decent against a full team of 5 good players even though you lost means you are still doing good.

I’ve kind of gotten to the point where I don’t care if I win or lose, just part of the game.

Too bad they don’t make 3v3 death matches :’( or 2v2

I don’t see anyone on top 25 leaderboards with 99% win ratio. In fact, the closest to 90% is google.37098 @ 89.61%

Just need to man up and play with the big boys.

Yeah, the enrage timers were always something that I wanted to see in annihilation game modes.
I kind of forgot that TDM=/=Annihilation, for this to be a good game mode, I’d say it would need to be annihilation :\

5) That really covers my super serious idea stuff. I have another idea that I think would be cool/fun for the game mode, which could be like an underground gambling ring, similar to a fight club and what not. Have players sign up for a hardcore mode where they must place an entry fee to fight, you could choose to play for gems @ 100, 200, 300, “Y” gems or gold @ 5, 10, 20, or “X” gold. Each player whether it’s 1v1 or XvX would have to front that amount to enter the queue. It would find another team/player that has chosen the same amount not based off MMR. Obviously whoever wins gets the purse or a partial amount of the purse if ANET wanted to take a cut. This game mode would obviously be just for fun and a way for sPvP players to circulate their currency, also innovative for PvP players to use the cash shop once they reach rock bottom, buy some gems and play again!

6) Along with that, give spectator mode a purpose. Have spectators be able to open a window which shows the premier game that is about to be played out. Only reveal the classes and give them a window of time to place their bets. This idea comes from Salty Bet. The wagers would work like a normal gambling ring, where if you put in 50% of the purse on your team’s side, and you win, you would get 50% of the winnings. Say you placed 50g out of the 100g for team A and team B had placed 100g for their team, and Team A won, you would get 100g over all. That would be so much fun. I know I would be trying to make heaps of gold in the ring. Of course, ANET too could take a slice of the pie here as well.

Anyways those are my ideas that I have going on in my dream land. I know they will probably not ever get implemented, but holy kitten they seem cool to me.
If you other guys have any additional ideas, post ‘em up, I want to see ‘em!

TLDR?
I’ve numbered the paragraphs to correspond with the list if you want to see what I thought.

1) Completely separate queues for this game mode
2) Enrage timers for stalemate games, wins based off of kills/damage done
3) Ranked leaderboards for solo/team queues
4) Registration for teams. Teams get their own MMR and not the individual player
5) Hardcore mode. Have players pay an entrance fee for a chance of winning the purse
6) Spectator mode gambling ring

I would first like to say that I am so pleased to see the development of Team Death Match into this game which already has a great foundation of combat mechanics. I’ve been lurking around for a great while waiting for the next big thing for GW2 sPvP since release, and it’s been a long time coming. Unfortunately I’ll be gone for training for 6 months while this release goes live, so hopefully I can get back into the action of a well-developed game mode /fingers crossed! And maybe instead of TDM, Annihilation.

From watching the live stream about how to possibly make this a game mode with official support in the current rotation I have a few ideas I’d like to bring up, as well as many other members in the community as well.

1) Rather than just placing the game into the rotation, or having a vote on whether or not the team wants to play that map, have a separate queue for the players who want to play. This seems pretty standard and I’m sure most of the community who supports this game mode would like to see this as a ranked queue separate from capture points.

2) Some things that I worry, and many others worry about is how long these matches can/may/will take. Picturing two teams of bunkers whether it is 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5 makes me want to slam my head against a desk. With that, maybe have a timer and at the end of the timer, the team with the most stomps wins, if it’s a tie, the team with the most downs wins, if that’s a tie, the team with the most damage dealt wins (or something among that nature). Or another idea is to have enraged timers; this could be like after a set amount of time, each minute after that increases damage output by 10% and lowers defensive traits by 10%. Thus a full bunk banner warrior would have the damage to kill burst class or be killed by a burst class pretty easily. Just some food for thought when it comes to balancing stalemate matchups.

3) I think most the sPvP community in GW2 would like to see this be part of a ranked system, keeping it completely separate from the established capture points and ratings. It would be wild to see solo-queues, literally 1v1s for the players want to have the claim to fame of being the best mechanical player in the game. Players could literally have bragging rights about being the best Warrior in the game (NA/EU). Rather than it being account bound on the leaderboards, have it character bound, this way, you guys could have an idea of what is over powered in a 1v1 environment and see that, “Oh, look at that. 75% of all Mesmer’s beat Guardians. What is going on here, do we need to balance this, or that?” or “Wow the top 20 players in solo queue are all Warriors, is there something wrong here?” Things that help you with checks and balances to the individual classes.

4) As for the 2v2s, 3v3s, 5v5s, or XvX, set up a registration for teams. A while back I was playing on a mule account with some friends and got to the top 25 for Team Queues after playing 10 or so games. This shouldn’t happen, people legitimately earned those rankings in the team queue, my rank should be associated with my team not myself. I know this is something you guys already know about, but it really is unfair for the players that work so hard to get up there, just to have some mule named, “Your Mom Irl” or “America F T W” on EU to get up on the front page. A way to make the registration somewhat serious, is to have a charge for the team make up, “x” amount of gold/gems per player, an account may only be attached to “n” amount of teams at a time. Then the team will have its own MMR, where you can only have “y” amount of players on the roster at a time.

Guild vs Guild
The core objective of the game mode is to kill the opposition’s NPC Guild Lord before the opposition does the same to your Guild Lord. There could be various objectives similar to capture points such as the trebuchet, cannons, capture points, and orb of ascension. Players who are killed would be revived after 1 minute of death time in their home base (or however much time seems right). After a certain amount of time, the Guild Lords and Remaining NPCs will rush to the center to fight to the death.
Trebuchet
Just like in the Battle of Kyhlo, each team has access to a trebuchet which can bombard any enemy or area on the battlefield. It causes massive damage to enemy players and causes knockback to players who get caught in the area of effect. It does no friendly-fire damage or knockback. It is able to be destroyed and repaired. With both teams’ repair kit spawning in the center of the map.
Cannons
Cannons are mounted on top of each team’s base walls. These can not be destroyed; however, players must jump down and grab cannonballs to load their cannons to fire. Their range is not very far and are really only used for defense.
Capture Points
Similar to the WvW Capture Points, these would be used to Provide a Blood Lust Damage Bonus. For Each point held, the team would gain 15% More Damage. A Team holding all three points would do 50% more damage, a very nice reward for the ability to hold all the points. This affects NPCs as well.
Orb of Ascension
The Orb of Ascension which spawns in each teams base after a set amount of time, is able to instantly neutralize and stun all enemies within, or near a capture point for like 5 seconds with or without stability (dayuuum). Players may only hold the orb for a certain amount of time.
Bases
The base layout could be similar to that of Legacy of the Foefire. The cannons could sit atop the base at both gate entrances; the walls would have much more structural integrity though. Outside each gate would be 3-4 NPCs (like 2 Casters and 2 Soldiers). Within the base would be 5 More NPCs, the Guild Lord and his Body Guards.
Winning Conditions
Whichever team kills the other Guild Lord first wins. No if’s and’s or but’s.
I’ll attach a kittenty picture of what the map could look like. The purple dots are NPCs.
How to Play
Rated Automatic Match
Automatically pairs your team with another waiting team which fits your ranking best. The result of the ladder match will adjust your guild rating.
New Unrated Challenge
Allows you to request a battle against a specific guild. The result of the match will not adjust your guild rating.
New Scrimmage
This is pretty much like custom arenas. ’Cept for GvG.

There are a few game modes I would love to see in this game, and I think would bring many many more players into the sPvP realm.

When I think of these game modes, I am reminded of GW1 and the various popular modes they had, my personal favorite: Team arena and Random Arena.

Team Arena
Similar to GW1, a team would queue and then be matched with another team (rated or non-rated as a team). They would arrive at a random map consisting of a specific game mode. These game modes could be:
Normal Annihilation
It’s a straightforward destroy-all-enemies objective.
Annihilation with Spirit
The Spirit in this map will resurrect party members who have died no more than once every two minutes from the start of the match.
Annihilation with Flame Jet
Teams are given Fuel which is held as a bundle by players that carry it. When the Fuel is placed on the Jet, their team gains control over that objective. Enemies in range of the controlled Jet will take Physical and Burning damage every so often. When the Fuel is placed on a stand, or it is picked up by the enemy, the item will re-spawn at the team’s starting point.
Winning Conditions
For each game mode, there would be a time limit of 5 Minutes. If both teams were unable to annihilate the entire other team, the team with more Kills would win. If no players are killed, the team with more downs would win. If no downs were made, the team that was able to produce more damage would win. In the event that there are even kills and downs, the team with more damage would win. I suggest team sizes of either 3 or 4…. or w/e.



Random Arena
With the exact same maps, modes, and team size as Team Arena, Random Arena would consist of a single player that queues for the game mode and then be paired with other players to make a random team. They too would be pitted against another team of random players. Whichever team wins would continue to VS random teams until after 10 wins where they would the be placed into the Team Arena Queue and disband after that match whether or not they won. These too could be rated or non-rated for the individual.

I was deleting my PvP Characters so i was removing their armor and depositing it to the locker. I forgot to remove my holographic dragon wings off of my warrior and then deleted her.

I was wondering if it is possible for me to restore that item or that character even. I just forgot the back piece is all :\

Of course, but it doesn’t really seems to be all that time-consuming or difficult relative to other features in the game, and relative to what the sPvP community would gain.

They are looking into it, mind you. They’ve looked at deathmatch (as well as other things) and they’ve looked at non-conquest gamemodes, as they’ve said. They just don’t want to implement it badly. And I imagine that is the only reason they haven’t just done something really simple like modifying Graveyard and Foefire to just spawn both sides on opposites sides of a walled-in Graveyard, disable respawns, and whoever scores 10 points wins.

The irony is that a lot of forums posters want things fast which usually leads to it being half-baked, the problem is that if they do give in and quickly assemble something, all those same players will spend the next few months kittening about it. So it is a catch 22 for arenanet.

Few days back, I hosted a 2v2 Double Elimination Tournament, we had a few people come out, even a couple from the MLG tourney not too long ago.

All I’m saying is, this kitten was the most fun I’ve had in Guild Wars 2 PvP

2 players just trying to kill 2 players. Trying to be smart for spreading blinds with combo finishers to keep their team mates alive while rezzing.. etc etc.

I just pray to Lyssa this kitten is implimented next patch, or it’s GG gunna do something better with my life than capture points.

Solo queue is really balanced.

everyone thinks that a thief team would win that hard?
obv to see they really don’t know how to fight, if the thieves are that bursty, they would get one shot if the remaining 4 up members on the opposing team used 1 aoe skill on the downed player.

Still 5v5 would be dumb. 3v3 would be meta.

I just feel like they play differently.
When I was playing on EU I got to top 50 and it seems like everybody rotates better, but that could be just because i was within that top tier, whereas here on NA i am like 250ish? And I don’t see the rotations as well, but that could just be because I am not in the top 50 on NA.

Solo queue is really balanced.

Hey that’s me Beefy Boy. Yeah, it’s sad that they stack one team. I bet one or two of those guys will never return to sPvP.

If people were ranked as follows

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

It would be nice to see one team as
10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and the other team as 9, 7, 5, 3, 1

That way there seems to be an even match up even if the rank 1 and 2 guys are top 100 and the 9 and 10 guys are <85%

Would feel like a hyper-carry for the top rank players, but it’s soloqueue, every game should be challenging.

DENIAL won, helseth’s team, they beat SYNC 3-0.

Interesting to note is that CC had Super dc in their 2nd match of the first bracket, and he couldn’t connect for the 3rd and final match so CC played with 4v5 in their 3rd match. I forget who they dcd against. Pretty sure it was GF or some other NA team.

Well it stinks. Because in a random match, it’s hard to communicate well for conquest, whereas with a team arena it’s literally, “try to kill the other team.”

It reduces the NEED to communicate while playing randomly with a group.

I was wondering if there ever will be a mode like this in Guild Wars 2.

In Guild Wars the original, it was always fun to hot join with some guys and just see who would win in a death match, whether it was Team Arena or Random Arena. Even the maps that had objectives within it like capturing the flag for a buff. That stuff.

I don’t always like having to critically think about placement in Capture Points. Where people should be and when.

I think your right. It does need to be taken out, and exchanged with another skill. Polymorph, it turns you into a chicken. A big chicken, and you get all these skills, so you aren’t like completely helpless and can still contribute, fight, or run. You know, that would be a pretty good skill.
