Sounds like an improvement to me, depending on the amount healed and the duration of the quickness.
The arrow while exploring can be turned off in the menu.
About the dailies, I dislike and like a lot about it.
The rewards for them are great, but the achievements themselves were narrowmindedly created. They should be a lot more general. Fractal level shouldn’t matter, class you play in PvP shouldn’t matter, etc. etc.
There’s a difference between hiding a build and just not wanting to invest time into explaining it.
Anet is very afraid of zerging when it comes to PvP. They want to encourage people to spread accross 3 points instead of running around together from point to point.
A lot of people join Team Arena now instead of Solo Arena.
You seem to think of it as a 1v1 map wolf, in reality pulls are made to interrupt 1v1s that are in progress. You really overestimate the skill required to be good in that map.
Other than that what bugs me the most is the numerous bugs, the portal to hammer often gives a debuff without portalling you. Sometimes you die instantly by hitting the edge of the map without falling down and sometimes you don’t die at all and the wurms have to kill you.
a) EU
b) EU server (sfr)
c) created on EU
d) have had game freezes in dungeons, pvp & open world, did not check ip but every person in my team/party had the same freeze duration
Seems like a quote is needed! I hope I don’t have to ask a moderator to remove the posts that aren’t related to the OP.
You don’t want discussions, yet you provoke one with stating :
“I hope Arenanet will keep skyhammer as it is, should it be removed out of solo Q? No, if you don’t know how to handle the mapstructure, then that just means you have something to improve on”
and
“…simply because they don’t know how to fight in this match.”
It’s a misinformed opinion and any misinformation needs to be up for discussion.
Any 4v5 game is a steamroll most of the time anyway, so who cares if sb forces autobalance.
A 4v5 results in outnumbered fights and ultimately in zerging. It’s not a proper way to test builds and the opposite team isn’t having any fun. Just enjoy the volunteer bonus and roll with it. I enjoy volunteering as soon as it pops up and I’m glad I can test my builds in outnumbered fights.
Also, if you play with the ‘play now’ button, you’ll end up in full servers* most of the time, where autobalance isn’t a problem.
*edit: as in filled up fast, not full when you enter
Why do you assume that people that dislike the map are bad at it?
The map doesn’t take a lot of skill to play, it’s just not enjoyable and quite buggy.
Only liking one piece of the set, the medium chest piece. And only because it isn’t a trenchcoat. Got it yesterday
Can you please explain the philosophy behind not making standard models work in solo queue? Or not letting people decide to also apply it in solo queue? Solo queue is pretty much all I play since I don’t play with a team and I want to enjoy the new feature.
Considering standard models and skyhammer at once I might as well switch to team queue………..
With better rewards, no bad maps and now this models feature, I don’t see any reason why you would queue up for Solo Arena instead of Team Arena.
If you have the downed target selected and are using camera-look (mouse buttons held down) then the interact prompt will not show. We are testing a fix right now.
So this means no one in the ArenaNet office plays a necromancer and uses camera look.
That explains a lot, to be honest.
It’s every class, not just necro…
Leave it on the second attack, replace it with confusion on the first swing.
On a serious note, it all boils down to how you define “skill.” Things definitely aren’t determined by luck, but possibly you can make the argument that certain builds which are supposedly “easy” to play can wreck face too much. Of course, many people attribute this to brain skill, or the whole, “work smarter, not harder” idea which I guess has some weight to it.
There are 3 levels of skill imo:
1) Preperation: Know how to play and how your (possible) enemies play (build wars)
2) Excecution: Manage cooldowns, dodge, cc, etc… (what most people call skill)
3) Strategy: Know when to fight, where to fight and for how long.
The easy way to fix disconnects problems in tournaments is imo benchsitters.
Make it 6v6 with 1 of each team sitting in spectator mode. The extra player can be allowed to join if sb dcs.
The scepter block is useless when you fight multiple targets though, it almost always goes to something else attacking you like a minion or clone.
And all the clone attacks are single target too, so sure pu mesmer will be buffed a bit on a 1v1. But if that person stands still and doesn’t cast anything but his heal once in a while, that condi mesmer can’t hurt him or force him off a point.
It’s fun. The counter to AI is… AI.
How is Illusionary Counter AI..

The fractal reward track could unlock once you hit lvl 50 in fractals of the mist.
The end reward could indeed be the boss-level daily reward with a chance for a fractal weapon. It takes way longer to get a track-reward than to do a fractal, I bet you can do 10 fractal runs (40-60 minutes each) for completing 1 pvp reward track (40-60 games at ~10 minutes each).
I think that would be an excellent solution for us players that don’t feel like running the 100th lvl 50 fractal level.

This is what happens when hotjoin isn’t a proper game mode, people don’t learn to dodge before joining an arena and complain on forums.
I would play the hell out of a monk with a melee staff.
Easy fix: put in a forfeit option.
If your entire team forfeits, enemy team wins and you can leave punishment free.
Points are reduced to be equal to the time spent playing so it can’t be abused to farm.
There will always be trash talking in PvP, in any game that you play
It’s to be enjoyed and laughed at
Not taken seriously
Or ignored and sighed at. Nothing enjoyable about it :p
If only they’d make the fractal skins tradeable for other other fractal skins through a vendor though.
I have too many duplicates and fractal skins I don’t want, and not the skin I really wanted.
PvP reward track would actually be much much slower than doing the fractals btw.
Wait… what’s the advantage, doesn’t the audience want the best 2 teams to meet in finals?
A tournament organizer should not have a team of their own in the tournament. They should also not change seeding for no apparent reason other than to give their own team a free ride into the finals.
Ah I didn’t realize it was their own team. But still, how is it a free ride? Does everyone assume the only real competition here is between CM & TM?
Wait… what’s the advantage, doesn’t the audience want the best 2 teams to meet in finals?
Stop playing hot join problem solved.
who cares it’s hotjoin..
thank you for your extremely useful input on how to improve the quality of the game…
A) stop playing it, tadaa! He makes a perfectly valid point. You are complaining about something you can 100% avoid if you want to… AND you will get better rewards for avoiding it. There is a fix in the game for this already, its called Solo Queue. The more people that play it the faster it will matchmake and the more fair the matches will be due to the population increase. Why ANet has let hotjoin stay for this long is beyond me.
Hmm, So I should join a queue, play a bit with a new build, realize it doesn’t work against good players and quit halfway the match? Or join a queue when I have dinner in 15 min? Or leave the arena match when I get a phonecall or the front door rings or my pizza is being delivered?
Good solution!
It’s pretty common. I think it’s less so in the 2 Arena queues, but it’s been a while since I had the time to sit in a queue.
I play pvp with my /whisper chat off. There’s too many ragers that whisp you and then block you. I don’t have a problem with them raging in /map chat, because at least then everyone can see what sort of person they are.
But if you play anything non-meta you will get insulted for sure, some people are just jerks, no way around it.
edit: some of the funniest ragest I had were about ‘my’ class being for noobs. (I had it on thief, mesmer, warrior, engineer & guard)
I then reply that I try to play all classes equally and they usually don’t reply anymore.

I really don’t understand why anyone gives a kitten about wins in hotjoin, I always join the losing side just to see if I can actually make a difference. I guess not enough people have that attitude though.
8/10 games on hotjoin go like this:
1. Game starts, 4v3, you are on team with 3.
2. You play well, you have about 50 point advantage, new players join in and join your team, it’s now 4v5
3. Enemy team member notices, joins spectate to force autobalance
4. You volunteer
5. You are basically nullifying the things you did before switching and making the game longer for no real reason, you can now either try to win or just run around and enjoy some off point fights, doesn’t matter because you’ll get a win bonus.
Or if you are lucky enough to have good players, but they stack because they are friends:
1. Game starts, many remain in spectator mode to join the same team
2. Stacker team starts winning with 5v4 or 4v3 because they simply can contest&defend more points. You can not be on 3 points at the same.
3. Somebody starts to force autobalance
4. Other player notices, joins spectator too or quits, it’s now constantly 5v3 or 5v2 or 4v2 because of players wanting to join the winning team and friends trying to stay on the same side. Until finally the game reaches a score of 400 for the winning team
5. Autobalance no longer works and the teams are even, but the score gap is too large to close.
the other 2/10 games are games where good people actually don’t stack on the same team and enough people join to get a full 5v5 from the start.
They could also make the achievement instances start just before combat and end after combat.
- Party Politics > Start after you’re introduced, end after your last dialogue option.
- Summit > Start after you had the discussions with all the leaders

It’s like for fractals I normally join with my engineer but if I die too much because of whatever reason I’ll switch to my warrior because i’d lose too much dps on engi if I made him tankier while my warrior doesn’t lose dps. If the whole group dies I’ll switch to my guardian because a warrior just can’t do the job of a guardian.
I’d be pretty upset with someone in my fractals group who kept dying, swapped characters, kept dying, and then was like “ugh, I guess I’ll just play my Guardian.”
I’d be like “then why the ##!#@ didn’t you start with your @#&$*ing Guardian!”
Maybe that’s just me.
Sigh, you imagined that wrong, I’ll elaborate.
I said I’d only switch to my guardian if my team kept dying, not me. Tbh that ususally happens when i do a 49 fractal pug with no guardian in the group and we end up at harpy or grawl. My guardian is built tanky for support and he would be no use in fractals beside those 2. Yes, I could switch to a support engi build, but why would I do that when I have a character ready for that purpose and all it takes is a relog?
I like playing my engi most (my main), but he’s pretty squishy. If I join a lvl 49 or lvl 50 fractal with a pug and some of the others keep dying too, I cannot carry that group without sacrificing a lot of dps. My warrior on the other hand can afford to absorb a few hits while ressing a teammate and as everyone knows your dps is high. I would never keep dying on my warrior.
You cannot always tell what kind of PUG you end up with and you may have to adapt, I prefer to adapt by changing characters.
It’s like when I used to switch to thief in the old dredge fractals to do the switch + bomb run or mesmer when you could still jump in from the top.
I adapt to the non-meta pug, I don’t adapt because I play better/worse with certain characters.
For the last month I only had to switch to my guardian 1 time and I never switched to my warrior, it’s not like it’s a common occurance, most high level pugs are decent.
TLDR
—-
I almost never have to switch, but I CAN when I need to.
I CAN’T switch for the story achievements because you need to do the whole story again first.

It wàs really weird to just get some of the elements at the end of the story instance.
Totally no context, not related to the instance, just a mysterious reward amongst generic ones.
The first seed at least came with an in-game mail, but the follow-up needed materials came from thin air.
I would’ve loved to find an old book that described how to grow a seedling and lead me on a scavange hunt I had to figure out on my own instead of the handholding, double-click, “HERE IT IS ON YOUR MAP” thing they did.
It’s only constructive critisism Arrdee, not a verbal assault (from me anyway).
- If you really feel like everyone should know you’re an avid player and world’s first 80, put it in your signature, not on every comment.
- I personally find your writing style off-putting and therefore did not read most of your comments. I’m sure you are a streamer that just wants his own style to stand out amongst the many people on here, but I’m guessing you want to adress more than your normal audience with these points.
All I know is I like the comp of Team Mist most. Mesmer & thief for great rotation & burst dps; guard, warrior and ele for good node holding.
I’m a big fan of the mesmer portal, thief mobility & guard res. Although I’m also a big fan of engi gameplay.
My ideal comp would be guardian, mesmer, thief, engineer & warrior.
So the alternate character, they don’t get the Achievement buffs when entering the instance? I know I can see the Achievement details on other characters, but I’ve never gone to an instance.
Correct. Say, for example, I’m trying Dragon’s Reach P2 for the first time on my Mesmer. All achievements are locked, so I can just focus on the story.
Now, my Mesmer isn’t exactly built for high DPS, so for achievements, I normally turn to my Ranger or my Warrior. However, despite the achievements now being unlocked on my account since I completed the story once, I STILL cannot complete the achievements on my Ranger or Warrior. I must complete the story once on either of them before I’m eligible. Likewise, if it turns out that my Warrior has high DPS, but an achievement requires a lot of dodging and thus my Ranger will be more useful, I now have to complete the story a THIRD time on my Ranger so that she becomes eligible.
Unlocking the Achievements account-wide sounds like a neat idea. But I’m not fond of your example, you seem so inflexible with how your characters operate.
It’s a side effect of having many alts, I have it too sometimes.
If you play 8 characters you can afford to stick with 1 build per character.
You get used to the strenght and weaknesses of your alts and you switch appropriately. It’s a fun way to play because it gives you a reason to play with your alts instead of sticking to one character and letting your alts gather dust on character select.

Because the moment the higher ups noticed there was more people in pve thats where it was decided the resources would be allocated. Trust me, if the devs had the resources (probably in terms of money and manpower) we would have better pvp. Sadly, thats how a bussiness works. I truly believe the pvp devs care about the game and wanted to give you all they promised and are sad by the outcome.
Tldr: 90% of the gw2 population is pve, so 99% of the dev time is going there
And yet the PvE in this game is severely lacking too imo.
What this game needs is an expansion: New race, new weapons, new zones, new dungeons, new pvp modes and a merger for the lowest tier wvw servers.
Yeah, I’m sure you have some good points but it’s too annoying to read for me. It also doesn’t mean much to be the world’s first rank 80 in these kind of topics.
Agreed, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see downed state removed from PvP…. there is absolutely no reason such a system should be in a competitive game….
It would be nice if some new game modes didn’t have the downed system, while it remains in Conquest (or the other way around).
I think it’s a core element of Conquest, if you die on the point they have to stomp you; if you die off point nobody cares.
But new game modes without downed system would be nice indeed, I can imagine for instance a CTF mode would be quite annoying with downed mode.
Imo there’s 1 major reason: Not enough pvpers ingame.
Reasons for that are
- Only 1 gamemode > People like Arena, CTF, …
- Very team dependent, 1 afker/dcer ruins the whole game > bigger teams or different objectives would help
- No way to teach pvp ingame unless you rent a server > dueling would be a great way to teach people
- Broken hotjoin & Long queues for Solo &Team Q, don’t make pvp attractive.
Skyhammer is fine.
People just don’t realize that it is a different game mode which goes beyond conquest.
It’s actually conquest on a higher level. You need to count more dodges, anticipate enemy skills/cd, positioning, and map awareness. Normally you can miss a few of these and still be alive in typical conquest, but in skyhammer you are punish severely or handsomely rewarded.
The handful that do realize simply refuse to switch to a build/play-style suited for the map. Which leaves the select few that do adapt to wreck havoc on them.
The map is too easy though, I just run around, do a stealth combo and pull enemies for free, undodgeable kills. Requires almost no skill and takes the fun away.
If you do play it normally, chances are other people will just stealh pull/fear combo you for free no-skill-required kills.
Easy just isn’t fun and most kills feel like cheating.
Other than that, the map has many bugs (see my previous comment); which has also nothing to do with ‘learning’ to play.
That was the first coin I found ^^ I noticed the new skillpoint that was added and found some new Air Crystals around that area in the old zone. Found the coin on my way up to the skillpoint. You could not go to where the coin was before the patch so technically the coin is in the new zone, albeit on the edge of it.
The map is also buggy as a kitten. Sometimes you die from getting close to the edge (but not falling off), blinking doesn’t always work across glass platforms and once I actually spawned outside the map during a match.
You can hardly call a 4v3 a match though…
( C ) Just solo queue in Team Arena and disable all chat to prevent rage.
Benefits:
- You get as much rank points for losing in Team Q as for winning in hotjoin
- No limit on how much reward track points you can earn / day
- No Spirit Watch or Skyhammer in the rotation
- You can use standard models when the pvp feature patch hits
Cons:
- You’ll probably face organized teams more and your teammates might ragequit if you play bad enough.
- PvP will be ruined more and more

I had quite a few balanced matches of hotjoin today, score 500-400-ish. (Got autobalanced in almost all games though, but they filled up afterwards.)
The main problem to me seems to be that servers don’t fill up fast enough to a full 5v5.
Part of the problem of spectator mode is you can’t see how many people are playing from watching the server list.
People see “10/20” and they won’t join because they assume it’s full. But in reality there’s 3 people in spectator mode waiting to join the winning team or just being AFK.
Spectator mode itself got no problem. New rank (0-15rank) players should be segregated from veteran players as they are causing the problem you are highlighting.
Played Chivalry: Medieval Warfare recently, they have those servers were you can’t enter if you’re higher than rank 15. Loved being able to learn the game without experienced people around to kick my kitten .
Channeling attacks display a cumulative number. You’ll see the sum of the whole attack growing larger.
These aren’t seperate values but one increasing value for that channeling attack.
All floater damage is correct.
I’m wondering what grind you guys are talking about. I’m a day away from making the first back piece and I found it rather easy. I parked a few characters at the a ring of elder saplings that grows around a god statue and just farm them once every hour. With 7 characters, it takes about 3 to 5 minutes each cycle and I usually gain 3 to 5 foxfire per cycle. The rest of the time, I do whatever I want.
Last time i had about 1 foxfire every 10-12 trees I chopped. So 100 foxfires, requires you chopping 1200 trees. Which would take ages if you don’t have 5+ characters parked at a dwayna statue. Quite a grind if you ask me.
Even with my 8 characters parked there, I’d have to wait 30 days if I only login once a day and play for an hour.
Edit: Just pointing out where the grind part is, I don’t mind it myself and it’s a justified grind for an ascended backpiece. I already have 5 ascended backpieces though, so I don’t feel like grinding this one out.

“As this functionality is intended for high-end, skilled players at the top tier of PvP, this option will work only in Team Arenas and Custom Arenas that allow Tournament Commands.”
Is fixing the fact that Asura spell visual range and actual spell range don’t match or that mini Asura animations are hardly visible really only a privilege for Team players?
Because this is what it is: a fix for a design flaw.
They should really add it as an option in every single pvp mode, otherwise they just added another reason to just solo-join team arena.
