Thanks for the feedback, a ranger in my guild said I should go venom share but I have havent seen any builds for it and all mentions of it I could find on the forums seem to be negative. Is it worthless to focus on venoms?

They’re not very effective in WvW. The larger the fight, the more (overall) useless your contribution will be.

… if you prefer watching the fight, instead of contributing to its successful outcome.

What type of gear would you recommend then? The shortbow seems to be pretty helpful for blast finishing. Also it seems that most of the weapons mix direct damage with condition damage which confuses me on how p/p would be used without condi damage.

So far the Thief has been a lot more fun then the shouting, dodge healing immortal guardian stuff I am used to…but kitten ….we are squishy lol. I dont know if I could jump right into full berserker or something after laughing at death so long with my guard.

In a fit of masochism I have decided to shelf my Guardian and roll a Thief. I am very low level but was wondering if a WvW support build was possible or should I just go roaming. That being said I was wondering if P/P is really as bad as ppl on the forums make it sound and if a condi Thief was viable/if anyone had some good builds. Thank you.

I also took a long break from the game, and returned only very recently. I stopped playing just when Fractals was introduced.

I still see a few people playing low level areas, but it’s a heck of a lot quieter in map chat, and most are just asking for ‘timers’. There’s still a lot of people in LA, but I’ve never been moved into overflow anymore, and there’s no queue in WvW, which is nice. It’s also terribly quiet in LA, compared to before, where there’s constant calls for groups for all sorts of dungeons. Now, it’s just lfg fotm every hour or so. I went to the gates to each dungeon, as well, and, except for CoF, they were empty, compared to before, where there’s always a few people standing outside each dungeon.

I tried LFG HoTW one time, because I kinda miss the dungeon, and after spamming that a few times, someone whispered me a link to an LFG site (I guess, to me, they should just add an LFG tool if that’s gonna be the case, anyway). I’m assuming most of the folks are on guild or voice chat.

The dailies and monthlies was changed, so there’s a lot more variety in completing them. They’re still designed as a checklist gameplay, and I can’t see myself engaging in that type of activity. The week I spent playing net me 3 laurels, and that’s without really bothering finishing dailies at all (I mostly did WvW and the Living Story content). WvW feels much more playable now, due to the culling issue being removed. Orr feels ridiculously safe now, as well, but there’s also much less people than I remember.

If you’re returning into the game without a guild, it’s going to be a much lonelier game than before, so you really should join a guild as soon as possible.

lol so now as I near the end of this massive update chain I find out the game is a ghost town. Hope it is more lively than you describe.

Hello, first of all I would like to say I didn’t leave this game in huff (lol) or stop playing it because I thought it sucked or anything. My guilds just seemed to have broke down and without people to play with I got bored. I followed one of my guilds to Eve Online; long story short my few months of Eve have been boring and thoroughly not fun, so I was like hey GW2 is awesome and f2p so maybe I should give it another shot. So while I wait the bajillion hours for it to update I thought I would post.

A few things I am wondering:
-How is the current state of PvP; is it still stuck on 4 maps and full of heartseeking thieves?
-How is WvWvW is it still plagued with cheaters and dominated by a few choice servers
-Have any changes been made to dungeons or pve in general.

Thanks and may your foes fall before your might (I left right before the expan of the story and the fractals stuff, was kinda looking forward to it too lol)

This was fun, and I would like to thank you all for playing my game. I would just like to say a few words before I bow out. First I am a PvPer, all my friends left long ago when the maps got stale and they will not be coming back. I am happy to say I am not married and have bought nothing from the store other than the free horns at halloween.

Gear progression, endgame progression of are no consequence to me; as pvp( for now) has static gear and only cosmetics as progression. I have also stopped playing the game, as the lack of new pvp content and game types made me burn out in the first month and a half.

Lastly, I made this post because I was waiting for a file to download and had nothing better to do. In truth, adding gear progression is tantamount to Anet admitting failure both philosophically and in term of game design. They could not excel through innovation so they decided to cop out and go with flow of WoW clones. Sad coming from a developer with so much unfulfilled promise. Ninja Trolling is an art and this piece is finished.

@- I meant the GW2 in the 3 months prior, and I understand what you are saying. But If all I had to do at the theater was watch the same 4 movies over and over again then I would want something, or I wouldnt watch them. Their is only a limited amount of stuff to do in the game, and anyone who finds it actually fun to run the same dungeon 50 times for purely “fun” is someone that Anet would ban me for expressing my feeling about.

Yes my groupies will get bored of it after we have maxed everything, the point seems to be that we make up enough of the population of the game that Anet saw fit to cater to us. It seems like their are a lot more of people in group 1 then most group 2s want to believe.

@forrae- Yes easy content is boring, that is why they are making the gear matched with equally boosted dungeons; which seems to be the problem for some people. I want challenge but I also want some loot. You can say that it is not that kind of game….oh sorry you could say that( too soon?) but apparently enough people wanted some new stuff, (no not pretty things) that Anet saw fit to throw us a bone. Btw I do live to stroke my ego and my kitten is rather small( me and my wife go to counseling, she probably cheats on me), however I fail to see how that is relevant unless personal attacks what float your boat.( its cool, we all have something)

@ Osprey- I do things for fun as well believe it or not, we just have different definitions. You just played golf and had a blast, but tell me that it wouldnt have been better if afterwards someone came up to you and said “you did pretty well, he is 1000$”. And I do mean what I say trust me, I left……and then came back. That is the whole point of my post lol

Sometimes people on this forum confuses me. How does rewarding players for playing the game not equate to people having more reasons to play the game?

Because we don’t want to play the same content over and over just to get the gear. Gear that is mandatory for the next tier of content.

Because ANET’s manifesto promised that this wouldn’t happen.

Because we play games to enjoy ourselves. Grinding the same content over and over is more like work than fun.

You would rather play the same content over and over again for nothing? Or do you really have fun playing the same dungeons over and over agian, if so why is getting a reward detrimental to that? The old system just left you a bunch of dungeons to redo or reexploring places you already went to before. Manifestos are not legal contracts with players, if your design isnt working you are crazy if you dont fix it in fear of breaking a “here is what we hope to accomplish” statement. And I do find it fun to do something till I progress, it is kinda my manifesto..

@ Osprey- Sure when a new game comes out Ill play it, just did with Borderlands 2. I dont think the game cares if I cheat on it a little. I will play the game as long as there are things to do and I am having fun. So I guess you are right, when I am through all the content I will take a break and then when more is released I will come back- some people just play to play? Ill just play when it is fun, thanks.

@ curly- The point is that me and my ilk like to become more powerful, even if scaling dictates that given the increased difficulty of the dungeons we are still the same. I like the look of my Exotics; playing dress up is what my daughter does for fun.(no offense)

@ forrae- I fail to see how time taken to improve skill is much better than time taken to improve gear. Different people acquire skill at different rates, while gear can be farmed at a fairly equal rate. If anything making gear a factor makes the game more balanced from a grind standpoint because everyone has to have about the same time commitment. Also, make the game harder, please, after farming gear for hours you do pick up some skill on the way; believe it or not.

Sometimes people on this forum confuses me. How does rewarding players for playing the game not equate to people having more reasons to play the game? Sure people will say that this is a BTP game they dont need people to keep playing…….to me that doesnt make sense; why would anyone make a game and not want people to play it extensively.

Then people will argue that stuff need to be more difficult, or it needs to be easier, no one can just be happy. It seems like the people the most hurt by progression are the casuals; is this supposed to be a casual only kind of game? Aren’t diehard players what a MMO community thrives on? Can the casuals not see that some people have more free time and that to us the game needed a little more to work through?

I hear your problems with this, and respect your opinions; however I think that focusing a game around people that can only play a few hours a week sounds good on paper but has to evolve as the game matures.

I will be honest and say I cant understand however that most of you want skill to be more important than gear. If skill progression( how well you play) should be the determining factor of the game then dont you have to say that being skilled is easier, and take less time then getting gear?

Would you have the same problems if the game was so hard that only people who played all the time were good enough to do dungeons? Or do you want everyting to be available all the time for no effort? This is a sincere question since I really just dont understand.

Satisfying you and gamers like you required ArenaNet to throw their entire fanbase under the bus. Are you ok with that?

Doesnt look like I will be able to play for a while so I guess I can keep responding:

Well I would argue that the entire fanbase wasn’t made of people like yourself. From the forum criticism of the endgame and lack of progression( which I am sure you also opposed) I would say at progressionist at very least are a significant part of the community( although majority/minority would be pure speculation from me).

I would assume they made the switch for a reason, either people werent happy, people were leaving( like my group), or that this is simply how they had planned to move forward from the beginning. If the decision was made because of the first two then yes I am okay with it; they thought it would be best for the life of the game.

If it is the last one then I can see how people would be upset; however, if your fanbase is large enough then they will change it again. I think a utilitarian approach is a smart financial move and important to keeping a robust population for MMOs. It seems people always want to think they are the majority though, and sometime it doesnt work that way.( not that you arent, just simply I think it is rather hard to tell)

If you like vertical progression, and you did research on GW2 before buying, why did you buy it after ANET made a big deal of promising that there wouldn’t be any ?

I said we did not research the game, we bought it because we heard it was good and 60$ is cheap. When we got it and learned about the focus on horizontal progression, we didnt really now if we would like it or not. So we tried, got to the end, thought our exotics looked plenty cool, then stopped playing. Now that there is something else to work towards ( the “carrot” as you will) we started it up again and are having fun.

This will be short since I am currently loving the new content but I wanted to take time to thank arena net for adding a little vertical progression, giving us new content, and promising more in the future. Me and my friends got this game not because of extensive research but because we heard that is was a good game; however the lack of progression and endgame made our adventure through your world shorter than we expected.

After reading the war on the forums I grew discourage that the game wouldnt grow and that we would have to leave it on our shelves but it seems that you have taken some of what us progressionist have said to heart and helped us find fun in your game once again.

Some may curse you for it and I am sure many will disagree with my statements; but rest assured me and my fellow adventurers will enjoy every minute of the new content and have a ball fighting our way towards some epic gear. ( Even if me drive our wives insane from splurging on the gem store lol)

Keep up the great work.

What do you do with AFKers?

Colton.9460

Do not listen to Gilgamesh on this issue, you should never report them or anyone because they do something that makes you mad,; you should only report people for acts listed under the preset categories. There is no correct category for this kind of report and maliciously reporting (reporting behavior other than what it is correctly related to) can get you banned. If they did go through and try to investigate the incident they would find that the offender did nothing in violation while you did.

It sucks, and the guy who has done 150 tournies and hasnt run into an afker, or someone who quit before the match then he only runs with guildies or is insanely lucky; as this happens in pug tpvp enough to be a problem. When faced with this the correct thing is to soft forfeit the match( by stayng in base) or give it your all despite the odds.

If you are in hotjoin then join another server, or deal with it. Since matches are done back to back there is no real time( other than a 20sec period before the match) to formally leave. Hotjoin is just what it implies, people are free to join or leave, or free to go grab a pizza and comeback. Should they have the courtesy to leave the match, sure; should a gamer faux pas be reported or dealt with by Anet personally, not imo

Steam Overlay?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Colton.9460

Colton.9460

I have had no problem…..hmmm( how can I make my post productive lol).

Try making a shortcut for GW2, opening properties on the shortcut, adding " -repair"( space included) to the end of your target bar ( ex C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -repair") then run. ( this step should help spacerobot fix his problem with blue screen, but it can’t hurt waker either since the gamefiles could be corrupting the overlay integration)

Then both should be able to: Remove GW2 from your steam library, go to add game to library and select GW2. It is important to change the Screen Capture button and the overlay access button because the game uses the buttons for something else currently.( this might be all waker has to do)

Hope this helps, if not sorry for wasting your time and maybe you can contact steam with your issue; they are very helpful and I can verify it is possible to get it working.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Colton.9460

To those saying that ppl would be less likely to dismount and help with DEs: Do you really think they are more likely to pay the current waypoint cost, because right now it seems they aren’t. If anything I think a way to quickly travel to DEs without paying out the kitten would go a long way to help beef up DE populations.

But regardless the waypoint system like many of their other features are meant to be gold sinks, they scale in cost so that they longer you play the game( i.e the more you are invested into it personally) the more likely you are to buy gems to help lessen the grind. Mounts would be a one time cost( that would be less gold per travel each time it was used) that would also make waypoints ineffective at their intended goal, and leave more gold in the economy.

This system seems no less seedy than the skinner box that players seem to freak out and critique so much; but here some people are overly loyal to the game and will tell me and others that “no way, Anet is a totally aulturist company, they dont try to maximize profits in anyway they can and keep their investors happy, I love them you hateful troll.”

SPvp is for ppl who like to zerg

TPvp- Is what the game is balanced around, what the maps were made for, and is the only place the zerg cant truely grab hold.

It is not a bone we want( feels weird saying that since I only do tpvp with my guild lol, so maybe more they) it is to play the game as it was meant to be played. If they changed the 8v8 system to 5v5 then stuff like this would vanish.

It is that they made game modes for “casuals” but made the game balance on something else. Out of over 300 servers only 50 at most are full at a time, they should switch it to 5v5 for all and let ppl actually play conquest not some zergy mess

To down with an ele you have to blow one of your cd’s or trait into 2 sec stability on switch to earth (earth grandmaster trait). Stability is grated by our 90sec cd armour of earth. Or the more ridiculous one mist form (75sec cd), then the elite cancel for 25ish seconds of stability.

Most classes have to blow a cooldown to get stability, but yes as an ele you have a much longer cooldown for your utility skills. The difference is that there are several skills that grant it to you; mist form, armor of earth( especially if traited to activate at 50% earth) or arcane shield, and the switch to earth stability to came used mid stomp making it dramatically more powerful than having to double tap DS then stomp. (ignoring tornado because like the necro elite it sucks to have to blow an elite for some stability.

Necros have to trait DS or blow our elite, thats it. It seems that Necros got niche skills and were deprived universal skill types while other classes got both. Maybe necros arent meant to stomp, but it seems like everyone else can do it pretty well. It makes me a sad panda.

P.S- this was not a stab at ele’s My main Sha is one, but after trying to play necro the past few weeks it seems even eles got more love.

Yes I would like longer fights, for mistakes to be seen and recoverable with skill, and for everyone to die in a slow epic match. I think that makes for better e-sport and more fun for just gamers. 50 minutes no, 2-5 minutes sure. A bunch of people instagabing, no matter how complicated the combo isnt fun to watch. Wait are some people saying that necros cant complain about having no access to stability because they can blow their 180sec cool down for 30s of stability, or if they put 30 points into a tree and give up a grandmaster talent they can put their shroud on cooldown for a 2.8 sec stability(since the double tap does take some time), or that we can blow one of our best defensive utilities with a 60s cooldown and hope to time the blind right or get used to using an exploit that will be fixed as soon as the devs notice it?

The game Methodology

in PvP

Posted by: Colton.9460

Colton.9460

When roaming , because of downed system, do not expect to win an imbalance conflict because of the Rally system , meaning 1v2 or 2v3, even if u have skill, due to down system>rally mechanic, you will always be heavily disadvantage.

1v2 or even 2v3 you should always be at a disadvantage. I am not sure why people think that 1v2 or 2v3 should be easier than it is now. If quickness or stability is in you build, heck even a blowback or 2, or maybe you are a memser and can moa, then you can 1v2 with skill. Kill one, quickly down them then fight the other guy. It should be difficult and be seen as a feat of exceptional skill by your standards anyway right?

Balance builds totally fail if you are looking at both ends of the spectrum, casual and tournament as it incredibly hampered by the natural gaming pvp mechanics of gw2 setup.

Show me a game with a similar multi-build customization system that does not encourage niche builds and focusing on extremes for maximum effectiveness. I am getting tired of the game, so I will wait.

has implemented downed state, not as a new fun mechanic as people like to think, but actually a direct elongation of time to kill per fight. Meaning no fight will be less than 10 seconds as this makes it feel less fps and more MMO. This also is a direct counter to extremely high burst builds as it is perceived as imbalance even though the direct opposite is not frowned upon (bunker).

Firstly the game developers have already stated that they do not like where bunker builds are right now and they plan to tone them down slowly overtime; however the massive QQ fest that would ensue if they they issued massive nerfs would be more of a headache then it is worth.

They are nerfing bust build as well (albeit quiker imo) so that extremes will be curbed and we will all be pushed to the middle. Also yes they are trying to elongate battles and encourage dynamic teamwork with the downstate; this is part of their strategy to make the game e-sport viable and the investment into this idea is so heavy it is not likely to change.

What this means to you ? If you want to succeed in GW2 pvp, be a bunker or a burst class , and play like GW2 wants you to be. If you build to be balanced , both sides of the spectrum will chew you apart due to not only your lack of tools to circumvent their game design (rally system mechanic) and also their choice of playing field (Conquest Mode).

Also means their pvp dev. team is gonna fail at making gw2 an esport but thats for another discussion that focuses on when balance build is not priority in a pvp game.

As stated above it is apparent by their posts and their actions that they seek to curb massive burst and the incredi-bunker that plagues the meta currently. Yes if you want to be the most effective you must find and fill a niche for your team, this is unlikely to change and is true in almost every game that has a build system.( what is the most effective will always be king when competition is on the line).

Eventually you will get some of what you want, downstates will change but never leave, balanced cookiecutter builds will flood the meta rather than the bunker or bust cookiecutter builds there are now, more maps will come, eventually they will realize that one game mode with 3 maps gets boring fast and will add something to spice it up.

The devs may fail at e-sport( I am not convinced) or they may prove the doom and gloomers wrong; regardless some of the problems you and others have (rightly so, you paid for it and thus your input is valid) will not change because the devs have chose some features because they think that is what will help the game become e-sport. They think their degrees in game design and their position as game developers makes them better qualified then a reactionary playerbase that can never make up its mind what it wants.

It is in the game, dont know Grimm is Kittening. Go to the mist, and then to the pvp locker and check for yourself. I dont think it is called Voodoo armor anymore though but I can swear I saw a asura wearing this set in the mists.

GreatSword most over rated weapon?

Greatswords have the biggest skins on them, they have some of the coolest skins, and there are 3 legendaries. What else needs to be said? This game is as much as dress up barbie princess 5 as it is anything else( not criticizing but it is all about looks at the end), so why not try to look like the biggested badkitten around?

Should Level Cap Increase in Xpacs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Adding more levels means that they would have to mess with the total amount of trait points a player has; unless they reward the player something else per level. Having more than 70 total trait points will completely disrupt the entire idea of having specific builds. You’re not supposed to be able to have all of the traits filled out.

I’ve always assumed that the sPvP level cap was just higher than the PvE cap. Why do the two have to have the same cap?

In my opinion, it seems unlikely that the cap will be raised. I prefer it this way.

They most likely will change the trait system( adding some removing others) when the expansion comes out, so more trait points wont necessarily ruin the specific builds. They are already have higher level karma vendors and rank vendors in the game, you can go see them now. I would say they likely will raise the cap, it just wont matter as much as it does in other games.

In WoW gear and stats have to be artificially inflated so that it is impossible to do the new content with previous gear and levels. This makes it so you have to do X before Y which means you must get A before you can get B to even unlock X. That is why you have 100k more health at 80 than at 85, and the gear is much higher in stats.

In GW2 you dont need that since there is no progressive content, just static player interest driven content open to everyone. Does it need more levels, seem like it doesnt. Will it have them, seems likely with the vendors already their and the attaction leveling has to some of their player base. As much as each side like to claim the other is the minority( which sheer volume of both kinds of posters would seem to disprove) so ppl like progression some dont. I bet Arena net will be smart and cater to both like they do now.

Should Level Cap Increase in Xpacs?

Rank 100 and the option to implement vendors for lvl 100 players (or whatever) doesn’t meant that they will really make that mistake. It could also just mean that they orignally intended to use 100 instead of 80 as cap.

I dont think so, when you go to the rank 90 and 100 vendors they say that they will be used in the future. Furthermore why do you believe this is a huge mistake? Dungeons will still be scaled, pvp/wvwvw will still be scaled, leveling will still be really fast, getting top stat gear will still be fairly fast, so why does it matter. Some people like to level and it will make them happy, why would it ruin the game for you? We are talking another year or so as well.

I am not trying to troll the forums, or piss anyone off. Just pointing out that Anet seems to go a tad too far on the censorship. If I invite someone over to my house and they say something I dont like I wont make them leave, especially if I was throwing a party and wanted as many people as possible to have open discussions and talk about what they like/dont like.

I like that they keep it clean, and I like this forum. It just seems a little crazy sometimes.

Someone makes a thread about being disappointed that you delete threads that criticize you in anyway. What do you do? Not let his post sit there and make him look like an exaggerator, helping your image. Nah, you rather delete his post and prove his point. It is entirely in your right, but it come off a tad excessive, what the the rest of you players think? ( please dont ban me I love your game, just kinda wondering whats up with that)

Why are you all arguing about something that already is clearly going to happen. In the mist they have rank vendors up to Rank 100, in the games coding their are higher level karma vendors. What is there to discuss, they will raise the level cap, it will make the treadmillers happy and will be easy enough to accommodate the theme parking explores the forum is full of. .

Anyone who says they will leave the game of this trivial issue is either exaggerating(most likely) or is some bratty kid who has a knee jerk reaction to everything. I am pretty sure Anet has some autonomy and they do what they will when they will. All that is up is us is how we choose to enjoy the game.

How the game should be balanced

in PvP

Posted by: Colton.9460

Colton.9460

May I point out that making the game seem balanced when average players are playing it and thus resulting in unbalance when top tier players are playing is not in fact balancing the game.

A rl example: 2 people are trying to kill each other, one with a knife and the other with a gun, both have never seen or used or heard of their chosen weapon before. In this fight the person with a knife stands a good chance of winning. This might make you think that a gun and knife are balanced or even that the knife is superior to a gun. In reality if you put those weapons in the hands of people who know how to use them the gun will prove its superiority.

And I would say that balancing a game around the top 5% unbalances the game for the bottom 95%. If you dont know how to fire the gun( to load the bullets, to kitten it, ect) and use it as a thrown projectile or a piece of metal to hit someone with then the knife is far superior. Ignoring balance for the majority to balance the minority is the crux of the esport problem other games are having, please watch the video in the thread I linked. It has the top players themselves explaining how this is bad.

@aydenunited

1) Until paid tournaments are out and we start to see what pro teams are doing, I dont think I can accurately answer this question. The level of competition and the development of high end meta still has a lot of room to be explored. I can try my best to answer this in accordance with what Arenanet has said and how hotjoins versus free tpvp is being treated imo.

The consensus from developers seems to point to hotjoin is for casuals, tpvp is for those more serious about the game. This means the game is balanced for 5v5 node control, not 8v8 hotjoins to the detriment of casuals. They seem to ignore the general consensus of hotjoiners, while giving more weight to the tpvpers who voice concerns. This leads to better players in tpvp telling 8v8ers to l2p, QQ more newb, ect. which hurts the community.

In short; I think the issue is that they dont go by general consensus at all for hotjoins and react too fast to tpvp concerns.

2) The only interest that matters to sponsors will be tpvp. E-sports ideally have large prize pools to draw in the best players and lots of viewers to who to sell products to. If many players are still enjoying pve and wvwvw then it is great for the game as a whole but does little to increase Esport viewership which is cornerstone of gaining sponsors and starting a successful Esport

How the game should be balanced

in PvP

Posted by: Colton.9460

Colton.9460

btw I’m not asking for nerfs or buffs. I play a elementalist and all I do is pvp. I am quite happy with my class and how I do. This is just a general post. I have played DAoC WAR for years and many other mmo. I really like GW2 and hope this game does well. Just throwing my 2 cents on how I think Anet should manage the pvp so this game don’t die like the other pvp game I have played in the past.

Your right to do so, this thread: (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/A-very-interesting-point-about-ESports-that-ANet-should-keep-in-mind/first#post486237) has some of the top players from SC2 explaining how their game is slowly dying due to casauls being left out when balancing.

If you would rather not watch the video or read the thread it paraphrases like this: Balancing for the top players makes the game much less casual friendly( since not everyone can be like the top players casuals get frustrated when only experts can perform well). This frustration leads to less people watching the esport, to less people going to tournaments, and to less reason for sponsors to shell out dough.

This phenomenon is clearly laid out, and shows that the majority of the player base is more important than the top when it comes to E-sport viability. Balancing around the average player lets them feel like they are doing well, and lets the pro’s feel like they are doing exceptionally well; which in turn leads to happy gamers.

That being said as spoonfey points out it should not be balance to the lowest common denominator. That leads to a bad game. But I do not agree with him that everyone wants to QQ and thinks they should beat top players. I am talking about the top 5%, spoonfey is talking about the bottom 5%, both are vocal but both are less important than the middle.

Great patch. Unfortunately, meta is still the same

Colton.9460

I think you are starting to see more and more balanced/control specs filtering into meta, they are just not as sexy to play because people want kills or the glory of not dying more than point control. I recently made a roamer/bomberman Engineer spec and the perma sprint + knockbacks means I can counter cap points like never before, and usually end up topping out the scoreboards, but I might get 1 or 2 kills a match.

It all depends on how you want to play, and most people want to play PvP to defeat other players, the people willing to play balanced specs usually do better in organized tPvP over sPvP, and are fewer because more time is required to put into the build, and no kill comes very quick over another player.

+1, I actually switched to a build like that for my engie and am now having a lot of fun. I am happy to see more ppl are branching out and trying to fit balanced into the meta. It just seems like no matter how well I do, many ppl gripe that a full dps would apply more pressure or a bunker is really needed or condition is really needed; leading to my posts above about how the meta shakes out. I do dream of a GW2 where an elementalist doesnt have to kill their treb and a mesmer isnt on ours; but raw efficiency is what comes with competition. Fun apparently gets in the way of some ppls l33tness.

Once agian I will explain what burst dps is, it is a dps that does damage in a very large all out attack. If they can do a big enough attack to destroy a bunker with thier high defenses then the balance build is getting destroyed. This is why there are no balanced builds at the moment, they are sub par at each specialized role. Also, why you would relegate every condition build to be a helper that must have someone with them, who in your opinion should just make certain fights easier, this ignores that this makes it better to run full dps.

Currently bringing a good condition player is necessary to counter a good bunker, change it to what you suggest and all you need is burst dps. But if you cant see how making burst effective enough to destroy all out bunkers means they will destroy balanced and condition builds, thus leading to a burst arms race then I will stop replying to you. I am just banging my head against a brick wall of “I want it dead now, nef plox”
