Ping Spikes- Hardware issue?

Hello,
I have a problem with a new laptop that I bought about a month ago, which only appears visible when playing this game. I have occasional latency spikes on Ethernet, Wireless, and while using a VPN while playing this game. My older laptop, using the same connections, does not suffer from any latency problems.
Lead to believe it’s a hardware issue, but not sure where to check first.

I have an ASUS G752VT
Processor: Intel® Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
24 GB RAM
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 970M

Yeah it is a hardware issue for sure. Sorry I’m not much help in that area. You could try making a thread posting your specs.

What about Banners giving Regen trait? If we’re talking about fighting on point, you could run Discipline for that trait, but I think running shouts + To the Limit might fair a bit better than just going for the Banner regen.

With the way matchmaking works now you can quite honestly just tell them that congratulations, with their meta class they somehow have about the same mmr as you do on warrior. Pretty sure anyone who’s not a moron has figured this out with all the mmr matching complaining going on right now, so only the truly terrible players that refuse to accept that they might be underperforming still blame their teammates on losses.

Well, I’m still maintaining my 55-56% winrate on warrior, and I’m having fun. Granted, I’m still working my way up.

Or the need to lower the cooldown of Berserker Stance, because that skill feels like a necessity in order for Warriors to do much of anything.

As other people mentioned, our damage is fine, even on the higher end if you just look at numbers alone. The problem is Warriors survivability is not too great, and we are prone to kiting. Longbow tickles. Soft crowd controls are annoying and plentiful with the amount of Druids and Necros running around.

I’m actually surprised, no one has asked me to swap from Warrior yet in my ranked games. If I don’t see it fit for the match, I’ll swap, but definitely no one on my team in solo queue has complained.

Naw, I use Sword/Torch + Mace/Shield. I find Sword offhand a bit less dependable than using the Torch, which can offer 1-2 fire auras alone.

Arms is actually pretty weak, b/c it focuses alot of bleeds, which is weaker compared to Confusion and burning.

Arms gives more than just increasing your bleeds.

It reduces recharge on signets.
It gives 100 precision for 1min when using a signet.
It gives signet of might (for 6 sec your attacks are unblockable) when hitting a foe below 50% hp.

You gain bleed and invulnerability stacks on crits. With invulnerability, you have an extra condition to cover your burns.

It gives 20% more crit chance on bleeding foes with sword and recharge reduction on sword.
It gives 5% more dmg to bleeding foes.
It gives adrenaline on crit and +10 condition dmg on crit (up to +250 condition dmg).

You will be able to crit enough with arms traits, to benifit well from King of fires in Berserker traitline, without needing precision on amulets, sigils and such (or you need to leap through your fire field for fire aura). As you need to crit to gain fire aura from King of fires.

Maybe strength is better, although you need to hit the interrupts in casttimes to really benifit from it though.

With King of Fires, you can neglect Precision or crits in general just by taking a Sigil of Intelligence, which isn’t so bad since with certain weapon sets + utilities you can already pump out 2 Fire Auras (With Shield, it’s 3).
Running Signets is an alternative that I don’t see fit if you want King of Fires. You’re just not going to be able to pop your Fire Auras will. While I admit arms is useful for things other than bleed, you lower the impact of your Burning just through output and CDs, not necessarily numbers though. Basically I rather have my current utilities as opposed to a signet, trading for a Sigil (Which is not a terrible sigil given how much Warriors enjoy weapon swapping)

I use Merc’s Amulet, I don’t see a reason for Precision stacking in any fashion.
Edit: I’d rather take Def/ Dis/Berserker over Arms in any assortment, tbh. This might be a playstyle thing, or a utility thing. I’m currently running Def/Str/Zerker though.

I honestly tried those weapon sets before, but Sword offhand felt super underwhelming compared to having Shield Bash and Shield Stance.
I also think Blood Reckoning is super underwhelming heal for PvP.

I like the combination of Outrage + Berserker’s Stance, and I personally choose Sundering Leap for the huge burst in Burning.

I’ve seen this Stun Break sustain build before, but still unsure how I feel about the lack of Stability. Will try it out a bit.

Edit: Considering the stats you are running + Rousing Resil, have you tried Sage’s Amulet?

I’ve been running these weapon sets as well, and mostly similar traits. Sigils slightly different as well, but running Sigil of Int on Mace/Shield just for easy crit into Fire Aura.

I’ve been really against running Berserker Stance, since I prefer having Balance Stance (And the freedom to take Discipline Stance as a result of the Balance Stance), but I’m going to try out Defense for awhile and see how it feels (The lack of Fast Hands and Warrior Sprint is my main concern)

How do you feel against Druids and Necros? Druids Immbolize has been one of my biggest issues, but I felt Warrior Sprint solved that (When I wasn’t running Berserker Stance)

Hi!
Regarding your build, some things just don’t seem to have as much synergy as you couuuld get.
You only have really one good way to trigger King of Fires, that’s with Wild Blow. You also have a Sigil of Rage, which you can only trigger if you have a specific set out with Wild Blow, which means you’re kind of stuck to using a specific set with one of your utilities, to get the full benefit from your sigil.
You also have no precision otherwise, so low Fire Aura chance.
I don’t see the value of a mace offhand other than the knockdown, even then you’re not getting much mileage in terms of condition damage.
Condi cleanse is lacking, but you have Berserker’s stance.
Stability is lacking… you only have Last Stand, which is not self-triggered.

Skeptical, but if it works for you, go for it.

this isnt about good player or not, I know how to rotate ect, i’m a solo q player, and it’s a freaking pain playing with pugs. Like my last match, my whole team was capping close. Fighting off point, ect ect. How to win when u have this kind of team? gg anet

Life is about making connections with others. Networking.
My suggestion: find a party you’re confident with until you get out of amber hell. Then start solo queuing.

Seriously, the utility of Sneak Gyro can turn fights so easily. Meanwhile, team stealth from a thief wont help ress anyone likely, bc you will die trying.

Mmr has nothing to do with current matchmaking. It depends on your current division, and a pip search range for people in your range.

That being said, even if you are playing something “meta”, that does not necessarily mean you are playing it well or great. For example, I could have the best reaper build off (insert build website), but that does not mean i can play it to its intended purposes since I’m not good at it.

Not saying you’re bad, its just a general statement on “meta” builds. For the most part, just know that all players are currently at the same “MMR”, good or bad, due to matchmaking changes in Ranked S2.

Stated with the changes to Season 2 PvP Matchmaking, matchmaking no longer focuses on MMR. Instead, it looks at your current division, then extends it by a pip range, and tries to match according to that.

If there’s too many of the same class, there’s enough time to switch to something else.

  • Scorched Earth Is unavoidable burns in a huge feild. Also i have noticed that firing through it procs my projectile finishers more often not sure why. This is my weapon of choice when fighting thieves as they have to get into the field to hit me.

Likely because the field is made up of multiple aoe boxes. So each box is a chance to proc Projectile Finishers.

The first is my own build, I like it, and have pretty decent success with it.
The Condi Rifle build is pretty legit. Stack up Confusion, huge mixed damage.

Sundering Leap does seem kinda hard to land… The slam is kinda delayed in terms of when it seems to proc the damage imo. This, along with small radius, makes it kinda iffy on usage.

Banner 5 at the moment is a blast finisher with a long cast time and a lengthier cooldown. So, pretty much a waste of a weapon skill.

For the record, there are other evades with cast times. Death Blossom, Unrelenting Assault, Burning Speed (3/4 second delay), Blurred Frenzy, Many of Ranger sword skills, Flanking Strike, Greatsword Whirlwind attack for warriors…

Hey guys, I thought I’d share an interesting interaction with Sundering Leap and King of Fires that might not be well known.

Torch 5 grants you a mobile fire field, when followed by Sundering Leap, will start grant you a Fire Aura and then pop it upon landing, due to King of Fires. I thought this interaction was a great instant way to get some burning out.

Typical combo starts with Torch 5, Sundering Leap onto them, Sword 2 for another Fire Aura, Weapon Swap into Mace, use Burst or Berserk or Outrage to pop Aura.

I use Merc’s amulet in this build, but it’s not on the editor. No precision on the amulet, so I opt for Sigil of Intelligence + Sigil of Rage to get some crits and quicker burst out, because actually hitting the lockdown is a problem…

I understand it will probably be frowned upon to not use either Rifle or Longbow as a ranged option (Both have some qualities that can fit into a condi build), but in the end I just like having double melee, and with the number of closers I have, it seems alright, unless I’m against 2 DHs + 2 Druids.
I’m 6-1 on Condi warrior this patch, obviously not a huge sample, but I thought it was kinda fun. It fits into a kind of roaming +1 in a way, not too great in a large scale fight since it’s not complete AoE dominance that you see out of other classes, but One vs One or One vs Two you can dish out a fair amount of hybrid damage.

Balance Update Did...Nothing

There are three forced reveals that I am aware of.
Engi trait, stealth gyro, Dh trap. They rarely become an issue to me.

Sic’em can’t be applied without a target so I did not count it.

Thieves have no business in the boon department, no idea why that can of worms was opened.

If you haven’t been using basivenom in conjunction with your opener then I’m just confused.

Herald’s Facet of Darkness blinds and Reveals.

As for my 2 cents on this matter, I think you expected too much from the update. There were some really good thieves in PvP that could hit Legendary solo queuing, showing if you were capable on the profession, you could excel well enough.
PvE, we are still lacking, naturally. Fighting mass numbers is not our forte.

On my Condi warrior for PvP, I run torch and Outrage, Shattering Blow, and Headbutt. I wouldn’t call them “useless” especially Outrage.

I’d imagine certain builds (Specifically Power-based, Primal Burst) lost out on this change. I try and play Condi, burning focused w/o the CD reduction on Primal Burst traits, and the change was much better than the previous Blood Reckoning.

But imo still stinks for Condi builds. Double Skull Grinder…

As a warrior, I never took Berserker Stance… I just didn’t like it’s concept. I spec Defense and Condition removal from Berserker though if I am doing power… Defense for Condi warrior.
4-0 on Condi warrior since patch.
Not pleased with everything though. I feel like core problems for warrior (and thief) in pvp are still there.

I liked it, I’ve wanted to try out Bound with D/P for awhile now, stealth play makes it interesting.
Seems like you’re using Daredevil runes, what about sigils?
Also, are you doing the Shadowshot, stow weapons, backstab trick? I see you stow your bow a lot so I’m assuming you are, any tips on practicing this trick?

When I play D/P Thief for PvP Ranked ( Diamond), I run Fist Flurry and Basilisk Venom. It works super well as a +1 roamer since you provide your own setup and it does a LOT of damage.
But I only run D/P when I feel I can’t run S/D. Like against other thieves who are likely to outburst me, or against mesmers.

As with any changes, you should first test and see them in game before you speculate if they are too strong/too weak. This is true for many balance changes.

They didn’t say how much dagger auto damage was being buffed. Sword auto DPS overall is being increased about 30%. Also, considering Backstab shouldn’t count as ‘Auto damage’, I’m doubtful that it’s being buffed very much, since it very much belongs under dagger’s “Burst damage”

With how Basilisk Venom works, being unblockable for two hits is not much. You speculate that this will be the death of mesmers and eles, but that’s only assuming you don’t carry any stun breaks (Blink, Well of Precog, you can even pop distortion to mitigate damage). Normally after a backstab, a thief will tend to auto attack, so the 2nd “unblockable” charge is neglectable. The 2nd charge only matters if you’re playing vs a Staff thief, which, normally staff thieves carry DD Elite, so we’ll see how that goes.

Let’s say you do stun break after the backstab, and before the auto attack chain. This is the only chance that a thief will attempt a 2nd “Unblockable” hit by restealthing, which means you have 3 seconds to try and respond before he stealths. Or he will shadow shot, which is a waste of a basi charge in terms of damage, but hey, now you can start blocking, cause in all likelihood, you still have one more defense mech unless you panicked.

Not sure if this was addressed anywhere, but regarding the achievements…
Obviously we haven’t hit 15 days yet, so it’s very hard to determine how the League Veteran, League Champion, and League Elite are supposed to work ( Cumulative over the season, Reset at next season?), but it seems very difficult for all players to achieve this if they have to hit Diamond Division just to progress for their Legendary.

Naturally, the blog post said skilled players will have an easier time getting the backpack, but realistically, this gates poor skilled players or those stuck in Sapphire/Ruby.

I never intended or expected to have to ever post on these forums, but in light of the overwhelming impact the megaservers have had on my server I felt compelled to log on and give my 2 cents. I apologize in advance if this seems like a long rant, but have a seat kittenes, it’s story time…

Megaservers have had an absolutely negative effect on my gaming experience in general and imo on my server as a whole. I play on a relatively low population server which just recently became an even lower pop. one due to a few major WvW guilds transferring off to another server. While the majority of my time in game was devoted to doing meta events, it was more or less a way to fund my WvW expenses, gear up each of my toons with ascended equipment and look kitten sexy in whatever skins I purchase to use on them. Despite WvW being the primary reason I play the game, I’ve come to appreciate the small community of PvE/PvX-minded individuals and guilds devoted to spending their time doing whatever content they enjoy while appreciating the game we all love. Now while I may slightly look down on this community and these ppl that choose to spend their time on what I personally may think to be less enjoyable content that’s not as fruitful in representing our server, they do represent an important part of our server which is ultimately our recruitment pool. With megaservers out in full force, this community has been utterly fractured with these PvE/PvX players and guilds feeling lost in the clusterkitten that we now have to deal with having had this megakitten shoved down our throats.

It’s probably safe to say that a large portion of my server and its community is very well rooted in PvE…MY server and MY community that anet claims to want to see flourish is now shattered. I won’t go into detail about how much my personal gaming experience has suffered from crippling frame rates, toxic personalities, childish trolls, afk meta-event bots, inefficient players and the general skill lag that has resulted in being forced to play along side far too many people that, to be brutally honest, I really just don’t want to know, play with or even help, if they’re not from my server. NOW… with megaservers, recruiting for guilds or even asking for support in WvW from our community is laughable and almost completely pointless.

A good step in mending this problem would of course be removing megaservers from the major cities(as many people have already suggested), but I personally don’t think that’s enough. To suggest that server communities are formed and revolve around major cities or WvW(which atm is really the only place you can be with players from JUST your server and has since become my only refuge) is ridiculous…there are a kitten-ton of people that WANT to spend their free time doing PvE and WANT to see the same familiar names around doing it with them, despite being from different guilds but still being able to say that these are my ppl and this is my server/community.

So..my feedback is…megaservers suck balls dude.

Whether or not guesting(which is now pretty much redundant) will be completely removed, joining a megaserver should, imo, only be made an option at the character selection screen as guesting is now. By default all characters created are placed on their home server with always the option to log out to character select screen and hop onto a megaserver for whatever reason. I can appreciate the reasons behind megaservers and that some players(probably mostly casuals) would want to hop onto a vibrant and bustling world full of random people with which they have no ties and perhaps never will, but I think creating more incentive in different ways for people to populate near empty zones or take part in various content in a sociable manner is the better alternative to strong-arming people into simply accepting megaservers as the only solution and future of gw2. Just give us the option kitten …plz don’t kill my server.

This is a pretty accurate description about how I feel. The sense of community is essentially dead now. While it wasn’t perfect, it was way more enjoyable that it is now. When I look around Gendarren Fields, it’s generally people I don’t recognize, and I never see those outside of my guild anymore while running around the game.

I was a big fan of doing the world events the old way, and our PvE community was really good in that perspective, but now it’s gone, world events have become boring and an afk press 1 fest, essentially taking all the fun out.

There are some positives of megaservers, I won’t say there aren’t. It’s good that some players have the option to interact with more players while roaming the world, and certain maps benefit from that highly (Brisban Wildlands, higher lvl maps), but this has such a negative effect on world events and temples that steps to separate those who want the megaserver and those who don’t should be taken as soon as possible. It affects language barriers, it affects content available, and it affects players who prefer the sense of community or a smaller group, rather than huge zergs…

Well. It has been your choice to run things the way that you do. It is up to you to come up with solutions. ArenaNet does their best to improve upon the Guild system, which is there to bring people together. Now you expect them to cater to something that you have made yourself that falls outside of this system. I’m not sure I find that reasonable. Good luck.

With the way Anet are doing things, there’s hardly any options. The late NA and early OCE players, not just including TTS, will have problems catching bosses and raids because of said schedule. It just doesnt’ fit for them. While the schedule may work for others, it’s quite apparent to someone who does metas daily that currently we can do all the metas within 3-4 hours, while the new schedule requires us to be on for 5 hours atleast, not including any we might miss from setting up at a bigger boss, such as Teq or Wurm.

Fact of the matter is, the current system works for most people, while the new system is drastic change that has a high probability of not working for a LOT of people.

Feedback/Questions: The Megaserver System: World Bosses and Events

I have a couple questions. As an individual that oftens leads metas on my server, I have some concerns with the current time table for bosses.

1. At the moment, the easier bosses that appear on low lvl maps ( SB, FE, Maw, Wurm) Appear much more frequently and are lesser in number. I see that this is most likely an attempt to help low level players to get involved, but as there are more Mid lvl events ( Golem, Modniir, Shatterer, etc), is it fair for those spots to be taken for the Larger scale events ( Karka, Teq, Tri Wurm)?
The other tradeoff I see is that you can do the Large events without fear of missing a mid level one, but considering the set up time that is usually necessary for Teq and Wurm, you’d miss the Mid Level event anyways.

tldr: Is it fair that the there are more mid level events but their spots are taken by Large World Bosses while the easy events still go?

2. How does this change effect Eye of Zhaitan, Foulbear, Dredge, and Fire Shaman, which were not listened in the time table? I know there is a TBD, but that’s 4 events neglected while the TBD is only one spot in the sequence for Mid Level Events. Hence question #1.

3. Temples present large concern for me as well. Seeing as we will not be able see the status of the Temple Events from Waypoints, nor from Websites that display timers, there’s no way leaders will be able to know if a smaller group or secondary train for Metas is doing temples, thus most likely throwing the timing for doing them possibly.

The counter for this argument would just to pop a new map, but since I don’t know completely everything about the system, not sure if this is doable with wanting to get everyone onto the map.

In addition to having 500 Badges of Honor and being on a lvl 80 character, your character must have a WvW rank of 30 to purchase it now.

I couldn’t find it from lvl 1-29 at the Weapon Master. At lvl 30 it popped up.
