Yeah, well, I wish they would at the very least release some different color pattern options. Maybe a black, a red and a green version ? So that at least a majority players have a option that somewhat matches what they’re looking for.
(I srsly hope they dont release in a few weeks the other color versions and bill +700gems for it.)
I just wish they’d realise that the ammount of people interested in buying these things would triple if it wasnt for the whole “backpacks cant be dyed” deal.
I am thinking of a refund as well. It would be great if the backpack could match the color of the glider, but when it doesn’t work as a set, then it is rather disappointing.
Its my thoughts exactly :/
If there’s no way it can be fixed, guess a refund it is.
Its just a real shame, cause the backpack looks GREAT and so does the glide, if only the colors could work, I’d be more than happy with the purchase.
It’s extremely hard to alter the engine so backpacks are dyeable. As far as the engine is considered, backpacks are considered items (like weapons) and gliders are considered effects. The engine needs to be fundamentally altered from the ground up to allow for item dye channels. It’s not impossible, but not easy. To add to this, the Shining Blade glider was designed on its own and after it was modeled one of the artists saw that it could be turned into a backpack for the players to enjoy. I think lazy is an inappropriate term for this situation when someone went the extra mile. However, I do understand your frustration with not knowing it couldn’t be dyed. That should be more clear.
Right. If that’s the case, Is ure hope they offer refunds since its obviously NOT how it was supposed to be (Since the back item obviously was ment to be the glider with its wings held back. Its the whole concept of having gliders~backs combos being sold, after all.)
I like the patch.
The Shining Blade backpack is a fiasco IMO tho. It looks great but the fact the backpack’s color cant be changed but the glider does, making one never match the other is so lazy that feels almost like a bug.
100% regret buying.
Same for me. I thought that the colors would follow the glider but I was wrong. I posted on Reddit but didn’t get much attention.
I hope a dev sees this thread and can at least give a little reply about this matter.
I can live without it but I also feel disappointed. I’m just using the glider and actually wanted to use the backpack too. But it’s horrible to not have matching colors.
I bought a pair of these things for my wife and I, we both kinda regret it, but it’s done anyways.
Hopefully, there will be a fix. If not adding dye channels to backpack, at least copy the glider’s color, that would be awesome.
Please Anet, notice us !
Yes please do notice us.
I cant believe it must be THAT MUCH work to make the glider match the backpack’s color somehow. I mean, it would just make everyone way more interested in buying it, everytime I tell someone about how the colors dont match they instantly give up on buying it. You guys are just losing money.
I don’t think it makes sense to dye this Shining Blade back piece in particular. It’s blue and gold for a good reason, because it’s the Shining Blade.
That would make sense if they didn’t allow you to change the glider backpack and also not promote it with people flying around with different colors.
You feel me? I mean I myself would be cool with it being just those colors both glider/backpack…and not buy it, but we can’t pretend that it wouldn’t be better and also fitting(Maybe not lore) if it matched the glider colors when changed or something. Immersion is broken either way, the hell I look like wearing it only for it to change into a different color when I glide, ha ha it’s funny a little bit and I’m not bashing my computer in over it, just wish A-net could alter their current backpack/glider mindset and think more open/outside the box.
This.
It just feels like lazy work that they didnt have the two things match colors. And I feel a kitteneated since they advertised people flying around with it in many different colors.
I didnt play GW1, so I had no idea the “gold and blue” was the original color of the Shining Blades, so I couldnt EVEN suspect that the backpack’s version could be stuck to one color. I just feel like I fell on a trap and lost 10 bucks.
I don’t think it makes sense to dye this Shining Blade back piece in particular. It’s blue and gold for a good reason, because it’s the Shining Blade.
Then why allow you to dye the glider but not the backpack ? Since both are the “shining blade theme”. Even sold together as one.
Its just lazy work by them to not allow you to dye both. If this was about "lore and theme’’ they should have not allowed for either.
Yes. I bought it without realising that I couldnt dye the backpack to match the glider (and the whole character’s color concept)
I’m salty and deeply regretting it :/
The whole concept of buying a “backpack + glider” combo is ruined by the fact you’re forced to change everything to fit the backpack, or not use it at all ever.
(I just made a post about it pretty much simultaneously to you.)
I want my money back. And this is surelly the first and last time I buy a back/glider thing until we can match colors.
(edited by Crash.5362)
I cant possibly be the only one that is super disappointed with the fact we cant customize our backpack colors, specially when wearing such an awesome backpack.
My character’s whole color pattern is black/red and I’m allowed to change the color with the glider to match it (And oh lord, it looks kitten.) But then, I cant use the backpack that comes with it cause its blue/silver and I cant change it.
That COMPLETELlY ruins the whole concept of getting a backpack + gliding combo in a purchase, since obviously, its supposed to look like you’re wearing the glider with its wings curled and then, when you fly they stretch out. BUt guess what, you cant make the backpack’s colors match the glider unless your change your whole color set up just to match a specific backpack :/
I want my money back. lol.
Hello.
I’m an experienced raider and often I use the LFG to try to get into PUG groups to make sure i get my weekly kills.
However, I’ve come to realise that there seems to be a bug with my LFG:
- Whenever I post my description on the “LOOKING FOR GROUP” channel of the Raids (Not the looking for more) I often get picked into squads but before I even join the squad I receive a message reading that I left the party. Somehow, it seems that when someone tries to bring me in I automatically leave the group before I even join.
For a long time this has happened And I only been able to get into groups through looking at the Looking For More channel and joining squads that were missing a player, never they are able to hire me.
For a long time I thought that the bug was that my announcement would be cancelled for w/e reason from time to time, but I’ve come to notice those "you’re no longer in the party’’ things popping in my chat whenever this happens.
Its been a pain, and making it extremly difficult to PUG Raid.
Any help ? Anyone also deals with this ?
Arms/Tactics/Berserker is really the only viable option at this point. On bosses that move a lot (Matthias) and specific group comps, it can be a better option than the power GS PS build.
However, the Arms/Disc/Berserker build is no longer very viable. It falls behind engi, necro, and thief in terms of condi damage and below all power builds.
What was the changes that made Arms/Tactics/Berserker better than the Arms/Disc/Zerker one !?
I thought that the nerf was directed at longbows, which are exactly what Arms/Tactics/zerker focus at, by logic, shouldnt the Disc version get better ? Since it involves Sword/Torch skills on the rotation more oftenly ?
(I dont know much abotu condi warrior, sorry if i’m not talking sense.)
None more. The max dps warrior build is the exact same as meta PS.
Sorry, but thats not true.
While it IS true that the traits and gear stats (Berserker) remain pretty much the same. (Although some PS use Assassin earrings for 100% crit chance instead of full zerker.)
There are things that a “max dps warrior” could do to differentiate from a PS Warrior, which would increase his dps in comparison (Not a whole much, but would.)
-> Since Rune of Strenght wouldnt be necessary (Assuming there’s already a PS warrior in the party generating might, or some other class capable of.), a Max Dps warrior could use Runes of the Schollar instead, which generally gives a +5% damage and +some ferocity in comparison to the previous, as long as you’re able to not get hit.
-> Assuming there’s already a PS Warrior in the party, the Max dps wouldnt need to use the banners. In replacement being able to pick skills that could increase his damage output (Signet of Might, for instance, for a +180 power, or even Frenzy for extra atk speed.)
Also, on the Greatsword, instead of Sigil of Strenght the warrior could run some other sigil to further increase his damage output.
I know what you’re trying to say. PS Warrior and Max dps warrior (If we’re talking about power warrior) are pretty much the same, and thats true. But the max dps warrior can and should deal slightly more damage, probably around 10% extra dmg.
Also, in regards of what was asked, regardless of necessity, DODGING (as in rolling) is actually part of the proper Warrior rotation thanks to the “Stick and move” trait, that grants us +10% damage while our endurance isnt full, so if you’re looking to max out your dps your endurance shouldnt ever be full and you should find a way of including a roll in the middle of your rotation (Which doesnt hurt the dps either, since we deal damage when rolling.)
What I personally do, is that whenever I use whirlwind attack, I roll backwards at the end of it, using the roll’s mobility to put me back to attacking range while also hitting the enemy with the roll’s damage, I believe its the best moment to include the “roll” into the rotation. But that only works when the boss isnt stuck against a wall, in which case, you want to use your Whirlwind to hit it multiple times.
Hello everyone
.
I’ve been recently getting into raidings, I already managed to down VG a few times, though didnt quite made any serious shots at Gorse yet.
Currently, I’m the PS Warrior of the current raid group I’m running with, and we’ve been doing all well. We have other players that can run Ps warrior, but they’ve been having me do it as of latelly cause I’m the more experienced in the class, however, recently, one of our Condi players had to drop off for personal reasons.
We’re currently having trouble getting one of us to fill in the Condi gap, as the Viper ascended stuff is a bit expensive/complicated to get. However, I currently have the resources to do so, but before building it and running Burnzerker to fill in the gap (While letting someone else do PS warrior), I wanted to know if burnzerker is still up there with other Meta Condi builds like Engineer and Reaper, or if its just not as good.
Getting Viper ascended full will require some boring/annoying stuff to be done plus a good investment in gold for the armor, so… Yeh, I’m not inclined on doing it unless its something very effective still.
(I know it got a heavy nerf on the Bow F1, that was very OP. But ever since I didnt really try to find out wether it was still good and viable or if its just no longer a thing.)
Thanks in advance~
(If yes, could someone link me a tutorial or somehing ? XD)

Dont want to destroy you perfect world but if it weren’t for Trehearne you would fail in fight against Mordy. It was HE who let you inside of Mordy’s mind and weaken him so much that he was easy to kill. HE sacrificed himself so that Mordy wasn’t able to reborn.
In the end HE transformed from marshall into a real hero that sacrificed himself for the greater good like a real hero should do – player was just a tool that finished the job.
As a famous proverb say There is no greatest thing that a human being can do then to sacrifice his life for others. So unless your toon dies permanently you wont become a true hero.
(also why whine of an NPC stealing anything from players – in a game? lolwut)
I’m afraid you missed the point.
I’m not saying Trehearne wasnt important. I’m just saying that the way the story completly shifts towards him and his story in the game ruined a lot of it for me. And that is also the general consensus, or at least was, of almost everyone who played the vanilla guild wars (Just google it out and you’ll see people’s rants about that.)
I never said he wasnt important or that he did nothing :P. lol. But having been important or not, I believe the “PERSONAL STORY” is about being PERSONAL, as in being MY STORY. IN other words, it should be about me, not about some other character that I just happen to accompany. If I wanted to see a story about a different character than my own, I’d watch a movie, or play a game in which I play a character rather than a MMO. :P
Unbalanced professions. Warrior is completely dead and some professions are too easy to carry with without evne knowing what you’re doing
(God, I’ve played 600+ games as Warrior and just picked up Reaper because I was sick of playing a off-meta class. Without knowing a THING about necros, I already win 100% of my duels and often 2v1s)
matchmaking is a bit broken, I get teamed up with the exact same people all the time.
So. To give some insight… I’ve been playing Guild Wars for many years now, and since the begginnig, I fell in love with PvP. And Warrior was the ONLY class I played, I was and still am in love with the class, I hate magic, I love being the brutal berserker that solves things with sword and armor. With that said, I only played warrior. Ever. Until a couple days ago…
I JUST recently got back to Gw2, like, about 3 weeks ago. And I tried pvp’ing as warrior as usual, trying the newest builds, and I simply couldnt help but realise I wasnt as succesful as I used to be… I then tried a reaper, and I realised that, even playing reaper for the FIRST TIME, with a build I knew nothing of, just spamming aoe’s at random, I was being twice as succesful than with Warrior (A class I dare to say, I know well.). Like, litterally, I just smash buttons and it works out already better than anything I’ve been able to pull off as warrior as of latelly.
Now… I was obviously very mad about this… So I decided to go back and look at all the things that made us be as bad as we are now in pvp… I came up to the following conclusion:
They’ve taken away our survivability as they taken away the “tankier amulets” specially Soldier and Cel.
Thieves and Mesmers are slippery. They can get away with using high-damage, low-defense amulets thanks to how they can get invisible, disappear, re-appear, fool their enemy. Mesmers specially, since they also make illusions.
Guardians, ELementalists, they have a huge ammount of blocks/invulnerabilities/utilities to allow them to last long in a fight…
Rangers are almost always ranged, their pets can snare the hell out of you while they stay off danger, not to mention they too can go invisible and they have their own invul.
Reapers, well, they have 2 health-bars.
Now… Us… Warriors, what do we have for survivability ? We HAD toughness and vitality, but now we dont anymore. We’ve became the squishiest class in the game for PvP… WE the heavy-armored, big dudes.
Fine, we still have huge damage in skills like Eviscerate, Hundred-blades and Killshot. But who cares ? They’re all one-trick-ponies, super-predictable that will almost certainly be dodged/blocked/absorbed by invul. We cant even last long enough until our enemy used all his survivability resources so we get a shot at killing them.
Warrior needs a rework fo sort for pvp. We need some sort of way to last long in a fight like all the other classes seem to have right now. Or, at least, some sort of way of dealing damage past the invulnrabilites/dodges/blocks/ etc, so we can at least have a chance of killing enemies. We die fast and all we have is Endure Pain to keep us up, and even that, fails since it doesnt make us immune to coditions.
As if the fact that we have to pretty much save one Elite-Skill slot JUST for adrenaline gain, just so we can actually try to work with our mechanic, wasnt enough. The Adrenaline mechanic would work in long-fights, where we have time to build it, but guess what… We’re the first to die, always.
Yes this is a rant… Anet has always been horrible with balancing things, so I dont expect this to change soon, well, til then, I’ll keep playing reaper and facerolling without even using hotkeys or dodging. Its been working great so far. lol. Just sad to have to abandon the class that I loved so much.
I understand there are things to be cricized about HoT, and I agree with many of them, however, for a change, I want to praise what they’ve been doing with the personal story in it, which, in my opinion, fixed MANY of the problems from the vanilla story mode.
Adressing them in order… I want to praise Anet because:
(Spoilers incoming, stay aware.)
1- Not having trehearne around and actually letting you be the one in charge, a commander, a leader.
You get credit for things you’ve done, you’re recognized, you lead a team and you call the shots. You have a voice. With Trehearne around, all you were was this “voice-less, name-less sidekick” in HoT, you get to be in the highlight, you get to have your PERSONAL STORY be YOURS again. Which, ever-since Trehearne steps into the scene, stops being the case in the original story. Thank you so much for making me feel like a really important character to this world again.
2- I actually care for the “New Destiny’s edge” characters.
I feel like many of them are way more interesting and thats a lot because, this time, we had the time to see they devleop as chracters: We seen Braham’s mother die, Kas and Marjory get together, Taimi and her issues to prove herself to the team and how she always feels like people make little ofher for being tiny… Anyway, I just feel like the characters developped through with us from ever since Scarlet up to here.
I cant help but feel much more part of “their team” than with the old Destiny’s edge, in which we kinda barelly get to know or see the characters develop much. Rytlock was the only one I really liked from the old destiny, and I was glad to still have him around. To top it off, I like how they made Caithe be a bit of a double-agent-like character and I like Canach a lot too, I feel like the characters became more colorful, instead of everyone being the “Good guy personality without much to it” that everyone had in the original destiny edge.
3- The way they dealt with the “battle with an elder dragon” situation.
To me, this was the most important bit, and the one I was happier about.
In the original story, the battle with Zhaitan, though “awesome” because of the music and the visual greatness of Zhaitan, was extremly boring and felt pretty much the same of what we had been doing all the time. I think everyone felt disappointed at that last battle, and I CAN SEE EXACTLY WHY the battle turned out the way it was.
Anet had a big problem in their hands: “An elder dragon is a HUGE thing, we cant make a couple of characters kill him on their own in a direct confrontation.” … They also couldnt let Zhaitan be a world boss, because that would make the story-mode extremly confituous, you could end up fighting zhaitan in the open world, without having evne finished your story, that would be awkward, eh ?.
…
Well, with HoT, I think they solves BOTH issues perfectly.
We get the Mouth of Mordremoth, which is basically fighting Mordremoth himself as a big-kitten dragon… Its a battle that makes sense, we’re 300 heroes together using every strategies we can to take down the beast. It feels epic, its big-scale. Its all an elder-dragon should be. And… It. Makes. Sense. After all, MOdremoth can regenerate himself for as long as his mind and the dream exists, therefore, there’s nothing wrong about dealing with him in the open-world version of him without having finished your story yet. WE get the elder-dragon boss battle we wanted… But… Something is missing: We need to feel like WE, in OUR STORY are responsible for his death… A duel! or something!
… WEll, we get that in the story. In his “dream” we fight him directly. And it was a very very interesting boss abttle to me. I loved the theme with mind-controlling, it made sense, and turning your allies back to your side to fight Mordremoth’s mind-gaming was a very cool spin on a over-used concept. It was a fun battle, and I culdnt help but feel like a kitten on the fact I was puppet-dueling with an elder dragon all on my own, toe-to-toe. Being the great hero I am in “MY personal story.”
(I reckon though, the boss-battle against modremoth’s mind, though fun and epic, could have used a bit of a balancing. He wasnt hitting hard enough to make me too worried most of the time, and the only time I felt like I could die was the gliding part, which I did, a couple of times. To top it off, he was TOO FREAKING TANKY… I run a full-zerker build on a full-ascended warrior, so my DPS is pretty high, and still, it took me a TON of time to take him down… I understand a “final boss” must be a lasting battle, but that was a bit too much IMO. I’m sure someone running a more tanky build would have gotten bored in that fight.)
… In the end of the day, I just think the story mode made many deicions that were on the right directin in comparison to what happened to the vanilla story. Not sure if people agree or not, but I used to read A LOT about people’s opinions in this game, and people used to complain about the exact same things that I adressed here.
And I always had a main Warrior.
For PvE, I used to go either Phalanx Warrior build (For dungeons) or some GS+Longbow or GS+Axe/Mace for general solo PvE…
For PvP, I used to go many builds, but mostly Hambow or Condi warrior with dualswords + longbow.
For Wvw, I used the sword + horn build for buffing and healing allies.
In the current Meta, where do we stand ? What builds are the good ones !? I run a full zerker set, is that still good ? With Strenght runes.
Also… Is the berserker spec good ? How so ?
Basically, are these builds I used to run still good, or should I adapt to some new builds that are up ? I’m a lil lost!!
a guy just posted this on a post of mine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90L5Rw1YdwQIts pretty cool the hexastance stuff XD
that ‘guy’ was the god and legend known as Schwahrheit. i’m testing his rifle build on my warr, and gosh…
I didnt knew of him until now, lol, but I might check more of his stuff
a guy just posted this on a post of mine

Its pretty cool the hexastance stuff XD
I guess frenzy provides instant stomps like it always did. And it makes baiting dodges easier. I played it very impractically in the video but I would say you need a little bit of something to make Frenzy Warrior work again.
But mostly mechanics is what makes Frenzy work. Like you actually need to know how to bait cool downs and dodges at the same time.
This was so entretaining to watch. Lol.
That was nice XD makes me wanna try something like that
Being a class that its more simple than most isnt argument to justify it being weaker in some way.
I understand what’s your point of view and argument, but it would limit the Warrior players (Even the ones who are very pro with it) To never achieving the potential that other classes give. Which would lead to, in high ranks and competitive play, Warriors never managing to be useful simply because pro players would get much more from classes that are more difficult, but with more potential.
To Warrior’s issue with overly telegraphed attacks?
If somehow Frenzy or that Trait that gives as quickness (Or maybe, if in the expansion, we’d get some sort of new trait or utility skill that gives us quickness) would that make Warriors more decent on 1v1 ?
Current Warrior’s role on Spvp is just teamfighting as Hambow or Shoutbow. His 1v1 efficiency is average at best, almost fully thanks to how easy it is to dodge his attacks. Specially as Hammer, Mace or Axe (Eviscerate)…
I really like the way the animations look, but it is frustrating how slow and telegraphed they are. Maybe there is hope if using Quickness would become viable via a Buff somehow… IN fact, has anyone tried it in pvp before ?
I heard people saying that its just not worth using it, and never seen a build including it.
I dont know, I just would like to not feel like I’m being toyed with everytime I fight a 1v1 battle against an actual good player. Sometimes I manage to win nonetheless, through counting their dodges or stun-chaining… But really, even when I win, I still get frustrated at how much I got dodged around, and the truth is, there is nothing we can do about it since its not about timing or placement, if you’re using hammer, for instance, all your attatcks are easilly dodgeable. You simply gotta sacrifice some skills so you can land one or other at some point.
(edited by Crash.5362)
In my Opinion, Asuras playing as bulky melee classes like Guardian and Warrior look very weird… Its just odd to see that tiny little guy tanking and fighting enormous beasts.
Asuras can be Warriors simply because Anet didnt want to restrain the class possibilities to the races. (Like WOW did, though they’re pretty much stopped doing that)
But Asura warriors just arent meant to be as fitting both because the animations look a little odd thanks to how tiny they are, but also because lore-wise Asuras arent supposed to be warriors, but rather inventors, scientists and mages.
Anyway. my Warrior is a Charr, and I’m happy with the animations, Sorry to hear if you didnt like them on Asura…
If it bothers you so much, though, you can always change race, unless you really want to be an Asura for some reason
They said it’s not gonna be a spear. No aquatics gonna be land weapons.
I think war either gets a torch, pistol or the new weapon – battle staff.
Spec: Champion
They already confirmed that spears usable in land wont be a thing ?
If yes, where ? owo
(I’ve seen them confirming that there would be no new weapnos. But techincally, spears are not new)
If they give me capes, I’ll want a batman flying thing that they’re adding to the masteries.
To the people saying no new weapons will be added, spears may be excluded, MAY, they arent new to the game, they are just previously locked to underwater only…something ive hated from the beginning as i played a paragon in GW1 and was hoping to have spears in GW2..
Yeah. I’m well aware they didnt express anything regarding if Spears could be avaiable for land usage or not, and instead, just said that no pole-arms are being included.
And yeah, as I’ve been saying, its a disappointment that a weapon that its already in the game isnt a thing for land-usage when all logic, reason and expectations point towards such.
Zelkovan.
I bid you, read everything on the topic if you’re gonna jump into the debate…
Both my replies were done SOLELY on using arguments that were several times used before in the talk, while all your arguments were also arguments several times used already.
Repeating what other people said to force me to repeat myself is pointless, and you’re wasting both of us’s time…
If you have nothing NEW to add to the discussion, then why not just leave it as it is ?
(edited by Crash.5362)
1- More diversity and new weaponsa attracts new players that otherwise would be disappointed at the lack of a kind of weapon expected to be there.
2- Opens for new builds and combos, more diversity and depth for playstyle.
3- It was advertised before that they exist (In trailers recently) Its hard not to expect that they’ll be there when the very game advertise them.
4- A lot of people were looking forward to it, it’d be new content added in a cheap way since the skins of spears are already in there, seems like a no-brainer to add them.I still don’t think you understand the argument lordkrall was trying to make.
Let’s put it this way. To make a whole new weapon type you need a couple of things. You first, need artists to make every single model of spears/pole-arms/whatever (let’s assume they make 50 models).
You need game designers to come up with skills for that weapon for each class that gets that weapon, making sure they aren’t overpowered or a rehash of a skill the class already has (e.g. not another gap closer for a warrior). You need to come up with new traits in a trait line that aren’t broken or useless. Then you need to get someone to draw the portraits for each skill for each profession, animate/code those skills into the game, then bug test them to see if they work properly. All of that costs time and money because the people who are making it aren’t working for free. So lordkrall’s question is this: Why should Anet spend their resources (developing time and money) into making a whole new weapon type and all the stuff that comes with it, when they can just add a new weapon to an existing class like how they are doing with specilizations.
As for your previous points….
1. You can get “more diversity” by adding new skills to existing weapon sets or giving classes new existing weapon sets, so that point is kind of invalid.
2. Repeat of your previous point, see above.
3. I don’t recall any advertising at all for any new weapons types in any recent trailers.
4. People can also be looking forward to other weapons for their classes. The argument that “it’s a common weapon in MMO’s” is pretty lame because that doesn’t justify pouring all the resources into it. The same concept can be applied to gear treadmills- they are common in every MMO, so why don’t we have one? Especially considering that if they were to add another weapon, they need to make it different from the rest of the weapons for every class.Just playing devil’s advocate.
1/2- Adding new skills doesnt fill the “hole” that there is on the fact the game is missing a weapon that every new players expects to be there, and gets surprised when it isnt there. Adding new skills alone doesnt make up for an entire weapon set. No, the point its not invalid.
3- Watch the final trailer after the end of “point of no return” in which several Sylvaries make use of spears. And even there is a scene of Faolain (I think thats her name) impaling someone with a spear.
Not to mention Ritlock in the Expansion’s trailer using a pole-weapon/spear/staff-like thing to beat a troll. There are SEVERAL topics about it, no way you missed them O_o
The VERY Anet team adressed the issue of pole-arms being shown in their trailers but not in the games…
4- Exaggerating things doesnt make your argument valid. How adding 15 or 20 skills and animatins would be “pouring all their resources”… I mean, taking skins that are already in the game, is exactly the same as picking weapons that are already in the game and allowing it to other classes. THe effort would be exactly as much as making a specialization. Which they’re already making. 8. PLus a new entire class… and a ton of other features and etc etc etc…
How would that be “pouring all resources into making a new weapon” ?
1- More diversity and new weaponsa attracts new players that otherwise would be disappointed at the lack of a kind of weapon expected to be there.
2- Opens for new builds and combos, more diversity and depth for playstyle.
3- It was advertised before that they exist (In trailers recently) Its hard not to expect that they’ll be there when the very game advertise them.

LOL. Im afraid you’re the one who still didnt read what was said previously on the topic. Or maybe you just dont know how to save up information you read before putting a reply. All you adressed was YET AGAIN already debated and answered… Are you trolling XD ?
Anyway, lets do this one last time, shall we ?
Regarding the point that dude was trying to make…
I’m aware of the cost of designing 50 new or so skins. Which is why, during the debate of this topic, I started to defend the inclusion of spears are a land weapon rather than water-only. If you’d actually take your time and read, you’d notice me making this point SEVERAL TIMES.
There would be NO costs of designing new weapons. The weapons are in-game already.
To top that off, the effort of “rebalacing so that it doesnt come op” and making new animation skills is minimal in comparsion to what they’re already doing.
They’re bringing in 8 new sets of skill (5×8, in fact, 5×8 + 15 if we consider elementalists have 20 skills per weapon.) Not to mention an ENTIRE new class, with gods-know how many skills and utility ones and etc.
Would designing and balancing 15/20 or so (assuming 3 or 4 classes get spears.) new skills be that much of a effort in comparison ? Would be almost nothing.
SO yeah. Once more, all that I did was repeat arguments already used by me and others, that once more, you didnt read or pay attention to.
I understand VERY WELL what was the guy’s point, hence how I adressed each and every thing he said in a reply, but it seems you didnt take your time to read my answers, and instead, just read what he said.
There is no arguments being thrown at my end ? You’re the one that eems to not be taking logic into the consideration.
PLus, what if a player doesnt like the current weapons’s set ? What if a player doesnt like maces ? Swords ? Bows ? What if he wants his character to use a specific weapon ?
He is FORCED to have on an MMo to have his character use a certain weapon just because it “offers what he needs” ?Sorry, the argument of “There’s already things that do that, and the class doesnt need more of it” its not logical. At all. Its an MMO, diversity makes it, the option to use whatever you want makes it. Not being forced to stick with something just because it gives what you needs.
Play a different game if you don’t like half the stuff in it, no one is forcing you to do anything.
What if I want a giant flaming laser shooting eyeball as a weapon? The devs can’t and won’t tend to the needs of every individual player. It’s not even reasonable.
Hey. look. Another guy who didnt read the previous posts before making one.
When I said that, I wasnt referring to myself.
I stated several times over in this thread that I love this game. But that doesnt mean I cant criticize it, does it?
Also, you’re using the same argument a guy was using. Saying that “the devs cant make all you want! What if I want a lightsaber?”
Such argument was also already answered. I’m not gonna repeat myself when the content is already up there to be read, take your time and read things that has been said on a thread before making a reply. Your argument was already used, replied, and finished. Not to mention that your accusation of me “not liking half the game” would defnetly not be there if you’d take your time and read things I said. :P
From another thread
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/179531/Rytlock.JPG
Clearly this isn’t a hammer nor is he under water. This either a staff or spear. But why use this to show off Melee staffs? Fishy….
Yeah we’ve all seen it, but they already said they’re not including any new weapons.
And that they’re aware they advertised spears and pole-arms being used on trailrs (This one and another where there was a bunch with sylvari with spears fighting people.)
It was said that they told the art team to not do it, since it was misleading, but they done it nonetheless. And indeed, it was misleading :P
My guess its that its just a staff being used as melee weapon or something.
To the OP, I don’t think there’s anything left to say here. Just remember to post calmly, because it seems like you’ve gotten very annoyed with the people in this thread, which may turn people against you. I support the addition of polearms, but so far, it seems like they’re not coming this time around. I think a new weapon has a lower priority than what they’ve announced so far, but it is definitely a good choice for future expansions.
Thanks, I kinda did. Though I made sure to keep it polite.
Its just frustrating when you fill people with arguments, answer every and each single thing they give you and still they come up with the same argument over and over ignoring your answers :P.
I dont bother with people turning against me however. This is internet, and since posting a thread criticizng an aspect of the expansion goes against the bandwagon and the hype, I was very well expecting some people to try to defend it at all costs. Just not expecting people to ignore things that has been said in the thread previously XD
(edited by Crash.5362)
Why is everyone such kitten bags towards people requesting, or wanting something added to this game? Especially things that have been hinted at recently? Spears aren’t exactly the most out-there request that’s been posted on these forums; it is however, probably one of the most requested as far as weapons go other than scythes and letting some other class use the greatsword.
People are fanboys of the hype to the point that any one who strays away from the bandwagon and DARES !!! To criticize something about this game’s expansion gets burned alive and crussified.
Well, its a good way to kill a game, accept anything they give you and think everything is amazing always.
I love this game. And this is why I criticize it.
Im not saying “hurr durr this game sucks cause it doesnt have spears and pole-arms”
I’m saying: Why not !? And pointing out several good reasons for it to have.
Well to be honest i hope we will have new melee weapon :P
They already said they’re not including any new weapon type.
If we get a new weapon the only hope is they somehow making spears usable in land.
I’m really tired of answering the same arguments over and over in this thread…
I’ll call it a day for myself :P I’ll reply if there’s something new from someone who did carefully read everything that was said in here by me and others.
Very cool!
I agree 100% on some of them.
I think Warrior is getting a torch, though. And its gonna be called something like “Raider” or something…
Thief’s name I think its gonna be marksman if they do get a rifle.
The rest, well, I either agree or cant think of a better idea XD
Why would more weapons be needed? What would they add to the game that isn’t already there?
Adding stuff just for the sake of adding it is usually not such a good idea.
Uhm, what? New weapons are one of the most badly needed things in the game. They open up build options, broaden potential character concepts, and are just plain cool. Who doesn’t want new weapon options? Plus, it’s something they’ve said they intended to do.
Greataxe
Throwing Disc
Whip
Polearm/Martial Staff
Gauntlets/Claws
TomeJust a few they could and should implement.
“Because,” or “Because they’re cool,” is not a sufficient reason to create something from nothing. There are a lot of weapons in the game. Weapons that are restricted from each of the classes. Why create whole new weapons, that also wouldn’t be universally accessible, when they can just give weapons that already exist to the classes that don’t have them.
That’s the basic thought process that ANet is using.
If you can’t justify a new weapon over an existing weapon with actual mechanics and roles missing from the lineup then there is no reason to implement it. “But I wanna,” will never be an acceptable answer.
Read the entire post. This argument got replied to several times over, by several different people.
There’s A TON of things that are being added without the need or without really being something that “its missing” on the game’s mechanics or role lineup.
How about no? I’ve been reading the arguments and not a single person has made an argument for random new weapons that was anything more than, “But, I wanna.” No one has provided a reason why new material should be created instead of porting already existing material to the classes that don’t have it.
But I will ask, what exactly do you feel is being added that wasn’t missing from the games mechanics or role lineup? I’m really curious.
Increase level 80 zones is definitely needed. A third heavy armor class was missing from the lineup. A second type of PvP was absolutely needed. Guild Halls were missing and reasonable. I could maybe accept an argument against the WvW but really it was in need of more areas too. I could also see an argument for flying, but I tend to doubt all that much effort, comparatively speaking, was needed for that, so not that big a deal. Are you saying they didn’t need to expand on endgame character building? That they should not have ported already existing weapons to classes that didn’t have them? I would love to hear that argument.
Responding, now, to the rest of what you said.
When exactly did I say that they are adding ONLY unnecessary things ?
I am very hyped about a lot of the expansion, but since you people against the addition of a new weapon are claiming that the reason for that is that “They’re not needed” I decided to use example of SOME of the things they’re adding nonetheless that are not needed either.
New specs will add the same thing that a new weapon would: New skills, new builds, new possibilities. SO, by logic, it is just as “not needed” as the new weapon idea. HOWEVER STILL, we’re loving the fact they’re doing it.
New Legendaries ? The ability to speak new languages with natives ? The ability to fly when we’re falling on some specific maps ?
I’m repeating something I said over and over, and because you didnt read things that me and other people posted, you’re repeating arguments and misunderstanding. No one ever said that this expansion sucks, no one ever said that things they’re adding are pointless and no one ever said that the only reason they should add new weapons its because we want it.
lol, read dude, read!!!

Nobody made any argument aside from “but I wanna” ?…
lol. Either you cant read, or you’re lying about having read :P
I’ll list JUST A FEW of the ones me and other people pointed out:
1- More diversity and new weaponsa attracts new players that otherwise would be disappointed at the lack of a kind of weapon expected to be there.
2- Opens for new builds and combos, more diversity and depth for playstyle.
3- It was advertised before that they exist (In trailers recently) Its hard not to expect that they’ll be there when the very game advertise them.
4- A lot of people were looking forward to it, it’d be new content added in a cheap way since the skins of spears are already in there, seems like a no-brainer to add them.
Seriously, if you didnt read those arguments (And so many others) aside from just “we want” then you defnetly have some sort of problem with reading and udnerstanding. Or you’re just lying about having read at all.
Also, worth noticing, we’re not asking for “Random new weapons” as you’re claiming. We’re asking for weapons that were expected to be there (Since they’re in just about all MMo’s, were history’s most common weapons, AND were seen in trailers, AND were on the prequel of Gw2 (Guild Wars 1))
lol.

Continuing…
4-Which type of Warrior build do you feel best fights Mesmer?
I feel like the worst build against it is the Axe/Shield thing, that focus on eviscerate burst. Its just too easy to dodge, and when there’s so many ilusions around, trusting your damage in that “one” skill so heavilly is just bad.
Condition is a toss up on wether or not you’ll be able to apply a lot of bleed stacks, and wether or not the mesmer can clear them up… Sometimes I manage to land a good sword F1 and the mesmer just appears dead somehwere around, but more oftne than not I’m running around, seeking the right one, without sucess..
Latelly, hambow worked best for me against mesmers.
5- What Warrior skills (weapon or utility) are most important to have in this fight?
I like Berserker’s Rage to keep me from getting conditions. Signet of Rage, of course, for swiftness. And good AoE aswell as some good stun combo. When you find the right guy, you want to be sure you’ll hold him down long enough for you to make good use of the oportunity.
6- In a pvp perspective, I dont like to fight against them. They’re frustrating, and the battles normally take way longer than I’d like, even when I win. (Except when the mesmer sucks and gets caught easilly)
The frustration to fight against them comes way more from the sensatio you’re being toyed with all the time rather than the difficulty itself. Though I admit, fighting a mesmer requires more focus and experience than, say, fighting another warrior.
I like challenges, but Mesmers are just annoying. I never tried BEING one, however. So I can only say what I feel from an opponent’s eyes.
I dont find them to be broken, however. Their 1v1 is very strong but it gets balanced out by the fact I dont see mesmers faring as well on group fights as the other classes, I’d guess its because the massive AoE just clears their illusions too quickly, and even when hiding the mesmer ends up getting hit a lot by aoe spam.
Cool topic!
First off, I’d like to add I play very little ranked arena. So my opinion may or may not be in agreement with more competitive players’s.
Answering your questions:
1- What is the first thing that comes to mind when you’re about to face a Mesmer?
Firstly, I feel frustrated. Fighting mesmers just isnt fun. As a warrior, you’re gonna get toyed with and feel like a dog chasing a cat that its just faster than you… Its annoying, to say the least. However, I try to come up with the following mindset to over come it:
“Time to solve a puzzle” I feel like it will be a battle different than the most. I’ll have to focus much more on my opponent’s positioning and the way he and his ilusions move rather than my combos and attacks to dodge.
I dont get scared, I dont feel like my chances are slim. I just feel like I’m about to face an opponent that will require attention, focus and patience over skill and quick fingers, and if I let my frustration speak louder than my patience, I might aswell lose.
2- How do you feel about your odds of winning?
I feel like with some builds I’m more succesful, others less. Builds with more AoE and more tanky seem to perform better, and nowadays I’ve been playing Hambow. So as of late, I’ve been feeling very comfortable against mesmers… It may sometimes take a little while to find and stun-lock the right guy. But I know that when I do, even if I’m already half-health, I probably will deal tons of damage and get the upper hand.
3- Strategies and Tactics:
Keep a close eye and try to find the “right guy”. Try to remain calm and not get frustrated and just start bashing whatever moving thing that I see.
As hambow, I try to get rid of the mass of ilusions with Longbow’s “3” and F1 aswell as Hammer AoE, and save backbreaker with F1 to when I find the right guy for a good damage combo. Also save Longbow’s “5” for the right mesmer…
Basically, save the single target heavy damage to when you’re certain you’ve found the right guy.
What I hope for, is that the Revenant isnt just a spellcaster in heavy armor and haves some actuall melee fighting and brutality to him…
Guardians’s attacks are all flashy with blue magic and stuff. Would love to see something a little closer to a Warrior on Revenant.
Thats my personal opinion, at least.
Why would more weapons be needed? What would they add to the game that isn’t already there?
Adding stuff just for the sake of adding it is usually not such a good idea.
Are you kidding me !?
Add new skills for people to use, therefore new build possibilities !?
Add weapons that some people may be fan of, and want to see their character using it ? What if someone doesnt like greatswords and hammers and would like to see their warrior or guardian using something else instead ?
It adds diversity, and its something that should have been in the game SINCE THE START. Since those are some of the “basic” weapons that are in absolutelly ever MMO ever. Its not adding something for the sake of adding. Its adding for the sake of making justice to something that anyone that gets into this game expects it to be there. I heard it countless times (And felt it that way) When I realised there was no 2h axes or spears in the game. Everyone is like: “Wow! There are no 2h axes O_O !?”
Stop with the complaint ‘’that should have been there from the start’‘.
If you didn’t like the game since THE START, you shouldn’t be playing today 2 years after release. Either learn to give feedback or stop posting. The whole ‘’OMG EVERYTHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE THE START, GW2 WORST MMO EVCER, OMG, I AM LEAVING THE GAME, OMG MY GUILD LEFT BECASUE THERE ARE NO SPEARS, OMG’’.
O_O What the … ?
When did I ever say I didnt like the game ? (The opposite, I said I love the game.)
Or when did I say I’m leaving the game because of the lack of spears ? LOL!
Still learning how to read and interpretate at school… ?
I love the game, from the start. The fact that it lacks some things doesnt mean it sucks, or that I wouldnt play the game.
As a player, and someone who paid for the game (And pai several other times for gems) I believe I have the right to express my opinion. Isnt this what the forum is for?
Calling it now…
Since it was confirmed the game isnt getting any new weapon type…
Warriors will have “torch” as new weapon.
The spec will be called “Raider”.
… Any other ideas ?
I really hope hammer will be become the meta dps wep in at least rev or engg lol. Wonder how wep choice will correlate to the skills when channelling. As in, will the channelling skills change based on the wep or can certain legends only be channelled by certain weapons… it’ll be interesting to see.
Yeah, would be nice to see Hammer actually make it to the pve scene.
I double you, my friend
“These new weapons will not be entirely new, however, just new to the profession as no new weapon types are being added with HoT.”
That’s the quote for people that don’t want to search for it.
Thanks, and my bad for not searching and putting it there.
Getting ready to leave to work, couldnt spare the time!
In other words, not the way we used to be. But it seems to still be ok!
We got nerfed aptch after patch though. So maybe we can expect to get nerfed even more in the future though. So yeah, brace yourselves!
I made a topic about this recently.
From what I heard and could gather,a swel as my experience so far in the past couple of weeks…
spvp = A decent spot. Shoutbow seems to be a really thing at the current metagame and our other builds are still viable. I’ve been playing hambow with success so far.
pvp = Still important thanks to banners. DPS wise, we’re at the middle, likelly #4 or #5 on the dps list.
wvw = Good mobility for roaming, viable. Still good at zerg.
