Whole thing is broken, spent an hour PMing people on LFG last night trying to find someone on an overflow server, bumped into multiple groups who had the same problem who thought they were on an overflow server.

Finally found one and invited people that Id met with the same issue to get them onto the overflow server(3 other groups). And my original team had disbanded waiting. Spent another 30 mins getting a new group and helping ferrying in desperate people into overflow. Did my daily 4 man since someone had disconnected, and lo and behold still no ring “sigh”.

Anet needs to fix this mongoloid workmanship.

Sub 20 = Easy to find groups, since a higher percentile of the population is at that level of progress. You will get more and more jaded as you progress to more challenging levels, which YOU will find easier because you have our rings already, I still havent gotten one yet, dailys on my main everyday and now a 2nd char as well.

I use Mass Invis most of the time in WvW love it, but I also use time warp… oooh damn you MI and TW and the love triangle you have created!

Lemur I completely agree with that perspective, as a mesmer you should go maximum pew pew and use your skills (both player and hotbar) to “tank” damage.

When people ask me what Spec I am, I always reply “Glass cannon Tank”…. Usually gets a blank response, but when I dont die and end up soloing fractal bosses people are impressed and they say it’s a really ‘tanky’ gear/spec when in reality it’s very limited to what gear and talents you use … within reason

Mesmers are solid in dungeons, I just solo’d the Ascalonian Fractal at difficulty 16 without skipping anything because I was bored. I doubt you will see alot of classes saying that without skipping content. Just keep learning you will get better and better at it.

I find the premise of the air runes excellent and I understand why people use them – you get a minor run speed boost, increased crit damage and a chance for a rather pokey proc when your hit.

The centaurs give you a very high uptime of runspeed and +power, it’s even better if you pair up with someone else who uses them because the buff stacks so you then have permanent uptime on it.

As I’ve gotten better on the mesmer ive drifted away from Air runes to Centaurs because I find I get hit a lot less, so the primary reason to sacrifice longer runspeed uptimes for random damage spikes is less and less of a winning argument between the two.

Ive had insanely bad luck, got my first ring last night since the release. Really is a stupid system.

I did this with a pug @ 16 for daily last night, probably one of the best pug groups Ive been in, as we almost managed the whole thing in the room with the insane trash spawn.

What we ended up doing is destroying the cages before people were put in them.
We pulled him to the large room to the right of where he spawns, one or two adds will invariably follow you in there, leave them alone until the hammer is dropped then kill them, run in hit the seal and run back to the boss, you will draw one or two more adds with you, and can pick the boss up again as he runs back to the main room.

Rinse and repeat.

Problem is that the phantasm’s stand there and do nothing after summon, the berserker is worst effected by this because it is the cripple ability which now no longer works unless people stand still and let it hit them.

I really dont understand how you specifically only have the mesmers abilities be countered TWICE by normal evasion – You blind/block/Los/etc the mesmer and the skill fails, if you mis-time or fail to do so you get a 2nd chance afterwards while the phantasm is summoned and sits there doing sweet FA.

Mesmers: the only class where players/npc’s get two opportunities back to back to avoid or stop an ability/skill.

The AOE is centered on a player.

Step 1: halve the area effected by AOE
look at the platform your on, find the 2 edges that have the greatest distance between them, then stand on one edge of the platform, so the AOE diameter only covers half of it and then move over to the opposite edge.

Never ever stand in the middle of platforms.

Thats understandable but I am saying is it seems I only get that ~1k heal when I have Illusionary persona from the illusion’s tree slotted.

Restorative Illusions (XII) in the inspiration tree doesnt do anything.

Ive extensively tested this today and I cant actually see any healing going on here, anyone else able to verify this?

If I take illusionary persona in Illusions(XI) then I can see that each Illusion shattered should heal for 1k health.

Anyone else give some feed back on this, it might need to be added to bugs.

@ahlen The boss is static, it will never change you on the other hand are not: respec and regear. Dont people have one or two different gear sets depending on their spec they currently are?

Thats my advice until they fix it so condition damage is also increased, if you dont want to do this, be the guy manning the bucket….

The boss is easy, keep moving/strafing – you will never need to dodge the bombs as by the time they land and you need to react your almost out the ring.
Keep pulling him to Buckets in a rotational method around the outside edge of map, even as soon as he has been debuffed move him to the next one so it is never off.
Interrupt heals.

Thats it REALLY simple – hardest part of the instance is getting to him…

But bare in mind he will probably do this right at the start so you can easily kick him and find a 5th again rather quickly since he is probably at a very low difficulty level to have that attitude still stuck with all the mouth breathers, testing the theory of “infinite monkeys and typewriters” in the fractals to get a copy of the works of William Shakespeare aka move up to the higher levels.

The issue here is the whole design of the instance. Im guessing you are rather low level in fractal difficulty, you will learn the error of your ways young grass hopper, it’s new and shiney to you at the moment and you have not realised the mundane and boring grindfest that it really is.

Challenge is NOT the encounters at the moment, the challenge is completing it before something goes wrong before your time runs out.

Time is the resource you use in FOTM, at somepoint someone will crash or dc at which point (at higher levels) all the time you spent will be completely wasted.

Time waiting to get a group spamming LFG in different overflows and on www.gw2lfg.com because ANET has the biggest POS system in place for actually finding a PUG – you better wish you had a fixed guild team to avoid this.

Time wasted trawling thru trash mobs, which are exactly that – trash mobs, ie objects put in the way to limit the speed of which you an do an instance. Yet currently these huge time sinks are already in place in different ways.

Time wasted hoping you get a randomly generated item instead of tokens like every other dungeon, talk about a step backwards in design concept.

People will continue to do this until the whole system is fixed, in fact it’s passed the point now, even if it is fixed people will still do it because like Pavlovs dogs it’s been ingrained into us.

Maybe hours repeatedly wasted every run that doesnt complete isnt a big deal to you but to others it is, try doing the instance with a lit stick of dynamite to get a sense of the need to complete it quickly, then come back here when you have completed even as low as difficulty lvl20+ and dare to say the same thing. Otherwise I would suggest you GTFO your pedestal immediately.

Id just like to say I think the Swamp fractal is brilliant. Easy and Fun mechanics. If you struggle with this or your members do – up your game, change utilities for condition removal, speed increases and stability and also replace the idiots as these are severely lacking if you struggle here.

If you cant do any of these things then you need to face facts, that you are a below average player and you should not expect to be rewarded. Or the dungeons made easier, so you can roll your face on the keyboard while fapping over the purple text your getting from the dailies.

Next thing people will be complaining they cant do 50+ in full berserker gear with no agony resistance.

Brilliant idea – lvl 7 atm

They just need to have the duration’s increased by 1-2 sec’s, and to bring out some sigils and rune sets that give benefits to confusion so that stacks hit twice in pve.

I currently have 120% increased (theoretically) confusion duration boost – but ofc it’s broke, so I only get 87%.

Another idea would be to give all mobs and bosses a pulse aoe skill, that buffs them with boons or ticks for a limited amount of damage, im talking like maximum +100 damage every 2 secs from bosses and like 20 from individual mobs. This will give confusion in PvE a skill set to proc off without speeding up the attacks of bosses or hard hitting mobs.

To be honest if mesmers when blinded, try summon their adds and have to take a full cool down, then blinds on Rangers when they switch pets should fail to switch and go onto full cool down as well. Same for necros summoning.

People will find that unacceptable, but thats the point isnt it (btw I have a Ranger and Necro too).

Berserker/phantasm’s are now missing initial hits, this needs fixing it’s a HUGE issue.

If you are changing the phantasms to be like direct damage damage abilities then there should be only one Hit/Avoid check. Either have it when cast or when it uses it’s abilities, not both.

There is no other skill ingame that when you target someone and use it can be avoided twice, they either hit or they miss they do not hit or miss then hit or miss again.

This needs to be fixed quickly, some acknowledgement of it would be a start.

I have noticed this as well although it feels automated, but it could simply just be the amount of users on the TP, the realist and cynic in me knows better.

This wouldn’t diversify the class it would hermoginise it into a single cookie cutter shatter spec with a phantasm pet, feels like an attempt to idiot proof the class.

I personally like that we have to balance control of illusions both in what is out and what is not with the situation at hand either according to or even against the spec we play. You know a class is good when their a multiple ways to play it successfully which it is currently the case. Apart from fixing all the bugs what the class needs tuning up in for me personally is confusion builds.

C’mon guys this is the class basics >< It DOES stack … try casting the ability, cd will say 11(12) secs after cast and will be usable when that time is up.

Also increased duration or reduction of boons, conditions and abilities is additive not multiplicative. IE 20+20% = 40% off the initial value, NOT 20% off the initial value and 20% off the recalculated value.

Easy laying the knowledge smackdown as usual I see. The only thing I can add regarding the Glamour/Confusion spec is dont take increased field duration in inspiration it’s broken and doesnt add any extra time.

Take Medic feedback for an extra glamour/confusion field from clicking for half a sec on a corpse every 8 secs (10secs without the glamour cd trait), or warden’s feedback like easy suggested as an alternate to it.

Kasama what people are suggesting here is a rune set – centuar for Speed both in and out of combat.

The stats on it are fairly decent for a large swathe of builds, if I was condition based (which you say its bad for) If I wasnt using centuar I be wouldnt use nightmare, Id use 2xsuperior mad king 2x major mad king 2x superior lyssa, with traits and and pizza food you should be hitting 87%+ duration on all conditions.

Centaur Runes are a brilliant set though, usable stats: power, + 15% bleed duration and a 12 secs of speed when you use heal. Great for being in and out of combat, great for travelling, and great for increasing speed when your taking damage and need to heal and avoid sources – more or less as soon as it’s off cooldown in 1 v X tbh.

In WvW mobility is king, the most mobile in a fight dictates it, whats been offered is a speed option that isnt fiddly and allows for a long duration and is viable in and out of combat.

The example of sigil of speed is just… ouch, you have to down and stomp someone in order to get the speed buff, which is in no way practical, I had a 4 v 1 fight in EB last night in which I had to down all of them and the first person downed twice before I could stomp them all, I had swiftness up for most of the fight from constant healing via those runes. I would have either been killed or really struggled if I had something pointless like that slotted and would have not seen any speed buff there until after the fight.

The only time I would say it might be okay to recommended against centaur runes is if you have a focus equipped as part of your spec, switching it in and out for travel is good until you get into combat with it on.

This is just my opinion obviously, best coarse of action is to try these different methods and pick what you feel comfortable with. I use both methods as One of my specs includes a focus and the other includes the centaur runes, but like I said I find the centaur one superior…. or I could just be forcing the price of centaur runes up!

Mesmers dont really have alts they simply respec

Seems people are falling into 2 camps on this Pro Centaur and Anti Centaur.

I have to say the runes of Centaur rock! High mobility is so important in pvp, especially in 1 v X fights.

I have two specs I primarily play which have vastly different runes: One focusing on condition duration to get 87% increased condition duration. And the other on permanent run speed during and out of combat with centaur runes.

Mesmers main weakness is their mobility, you counter that and your upping your game immediately! IMHO!

Surely you mean 16 stacks (of 250) and not 160? I like price betting as much as the next trader, but 40k of candy would be a liiiiiittle bit over the top!

Remember thats only ~24g! biggest pain in the rectum is the storage (bank + 2 alts) and the wait for supply to dry up.

6X centaur is the way to go.

Also run with Chocolate omnomberry creams food for an additional 20% buff time if you prefer for perma swiftness (depending on spec)

Mobility is so important.

I’ll test those queries tonight if im not working, pretty sure I placed portal entrance in the middle of some steps in a keep in EB last night and went to the lords room to defend and noticed 600 damage ticks from the portal alone beind up, before they got to us and I had laid down any other fields in defence. I suspect the area for the portal is alot smaller than the graphic you see in game which might be why there is debate.

@ Aaron, alot of glamour/confusion mesmers seem to have that mind set if their fields are on cd they cant do anything but you have all your weapon abilities to use while they recharge, also remember you have 10s (possibly 8 sec) feedback bubble you can spam by clicking to res someone.

I have a few gear sets on the mesmer and switch between this and a phantasm crit build, different specs for different situations, although running confusion solo is very fun because people dont know how to deal with it.

In large scale fights this build is ridiculous how good it is and is effective even if your wearing full greens.

Stack Carrion Gear.
For runes in your gear use:
2 x Superior Runes of Lyssa
2 x Superior Rune of the Mad King
2 x Major Rune of the Mad King

This gives an extra condition duration (27%) that along with the spec and the Super Vegie Pizza that you should be eating means you have an extra 87% condition duration which is insane given what this build does.

Note if your getting these runes get the Runes of the Mad King ASAP as prices WILL go up now that halloween is over and the resource available to make them are finite.

Tactics For this include:
Laying down a portal entrance ONLY, this lasts ages (60 secs) and gives confusion and blindness, great in choke points people have to go through it also doesnt show up as a hostile “field” so people will run through it. Place it near keep doors so melee have to run through it to hit the door, they invariably panic and then run through it again when moving way.

Place it near the entry area to keeps to stack confusion on people trying to get into the keeps.

You can also stack all the fields, wait for people to run out then cast temporal field and hit collapse to pull them all back in giving them a double dose for some reactive spike damage.

To further compound this you can arrange to get clones up on a single target, do the stacking on him, pull people into the field and shatter your clones with Cry of frustration which explode causing more confusion damage, also when you shatter clones your specced now any shatter causes confusion which is even more stacks (remember you have 87% increased condition duration on all this)

Two things im toying with this build is using a torch instead of focus (or swapping them around depending on whats going on) and I was also looking changing the master trait in Inspiration to “i” which is create a feedback bubble when you revive a player on a 10 sec recharge (8 secs from ii – needs testing) which is another glamour field…. which you can spam : you dont res people just click them once to pop the field up… well you can res them IF you want You might argue that you should slot the increased field duration, but it’s broken.

Obviously if you want to stick to the same gear and are to tight to respec for 3s below is the same build with different trait picks, skills and weapons for a more “solo” build that Ive been looking at, again you retain same runes, same armour with a few weapon changes. It works on 2 weapon sets which are “Kite” and “Close” while emphasising confusion and dots and clone generation for confusion on shatters:

Im still playing with the solo build and working out the kinks for it but that top spec is brilliant, you are not going to see OMG damage although I have seen confusion ticks of 4k, the damage is competitive but what you are doing is controlling the ebb and flow in large scale fights and destroying large groups fighting thru choke points by yourself. If you pair up with other mesmers it takes this to a whole new level, either alternating your fields to keep a constant stream of fields up or laying them down in some type of GW2 carpet bomb of doom.

I went down the route of buying a spread of halloween commodities, to see which do well and which dont for future reference, I bought 160 stacks of corn candy and 1500 of the yellow craftable components and 40 of the superior runes.

The rare components are the safest bet for making money (plastic fangs etc) as they were selling at 1c above vendor price,so if they dont move you only lose 1c per unit.

Candy Corn prices are going to be huge! get it now before they get very very very expensive.

Ive used 4 runes of earth and 2 runes of water, This gives you increased boon duration and a high protection proc – sadly with a high internal cool down since they nerfed it to a low duration and high proc rate.

I also use Chocolate Omnomberry Cream for an extra 20% boon duration, so Im hitting almost permanent Fury/Might/Swiftness which is too good to pass up.

Usually what happens is no one uses them.

Then someone comes on here mentions them either being really cheap for what they are or that they are misspelled and the price will sky rocket once they are fixed.

Then the idiots all start buying lone stones like crazy, and the initial investors offload their stockpiles for profit.

Once it crashes everyone panics and sells them at the initial cost or below and the original people then rebuy them with a huge profit and are ready to do it again with the same stock as before.

Why you ask?
