So you get the ability to glide and eventually end up on the jungle floor. How do you get back up the levels until you’re able to use updraughts or bouncy mushrooms?

Maybe an HP respec would soften the blow for some?

Yeah. I am up to Estate of Decay and yet my journal is frozen at the exact same point. It doesn’t seem to stop you progressing it just doesn’t recognise it in the journal. I have bugged it a few times over the last months since the sequence was rejigged but nothing seems to have changed or acknowledged.

Mastery points are account based so surely if you’ve already completed absolutely everything with all your characters starting a new Revenant will give you access to acquiring them all anyway?

Level a tradeskill and it will probably take even less time.

The last couple of days my autorun which I have mapped as my MMB randomly stops working. Sometimes I can get it to work by holding the button down until I begin to move although at other times this doesn’t work either. Occasionally it can be sorted by logging out and back in.

The default option (R?) seems to work ok.

I seem to remember this was an issue about a year ago?

I’m currently about to play What The Eye Beholds (part 3 of episode 8?) but my journal seems to be stuck at Forging The Pact (part 1 of episode 7). I think I had just finished the old episode 7 before the revamp hit so assume it got screwed up at that point as I wasn’t really taking much notice of that tab in my journal. Any chance my journal could get rolled up to the point at which I am actually at? I can confirm I have played through Temple Of The Forgotten God and Through The Looking Glass since the changes.

Why? Can someone please explain why this is even an option in the daily rotation?

So you accumulate vast quantities of dragonite ore and except for being used to create dragonite ingots there is nothing you can do with them except stuff them in your bank. Trouble is even with Storage Expanders the maximum stack size in your bank is 250. Why doesn’t storage expanders apply to your bank stacks? Or better yet why can’t you buy/sell dragonite ore?

I agree. Start a new character. You should be able to get to cap fairly quickly what with the daily rewards giving you free levels once a week even if you take your time. Get to know the lower levels again and by the time you get to 80 it should all have come back to you.

Yup that’s the one. I always have to zone to get rid of it. We should probably /bug it I guess.

Pretty sure I’m going to be called n00b here but I’ve just noticed this and wonder what’s going on. What’s with the great big down arrow that sometimes appears on your UI situated over the first buff icon above the skill bar? When it’s there you can’t use the ESC key to pull up the menu.

Experienced MMO endgamer (EQ2/EVE) just starting out on GW2. Looking for an established guild to help me develop my game beyond soloing to cap multiple times. All my level cap characters are kitted out in exotic zerker gear but I haven’t had a chance to do any group oriented play as yet. Would prefer a non 100% rep guild as I favour leveling alts out of guild at my own pace. Family life these days precludes 24/7 gaming so don’t expect endless fractal runs runs from me.

Generally aware of each class meta but obviously lack of group experience still renders me a bit of a noob. Drop me a line to one of my characters listed below in game or else reply to this post.

GW2 is very lenient and allows for people to be in multiple guilds at the same time. There is nothing stoping you to be part of a small guild of personal friends, and part of a big guild with multiple members.

That’s kind of the problem. If you try to do this you are more than likely to be booted from the large guild for non-repping while you play for the small one. Or even vice versa in some instances.

I’ll be honest I do play alts but it was my main that was guilded. I had been told, and it was clearly stated in the MOTD that the guild preferred 80% rep. How they monitor an arbitrary figure such as this I have no idea. I noted that other people were online unrepresented while over half the rosta hadn’t appeared for over two months. Whatever the reason I wasn’t informed by mail and I’d prefer to draw a line at that as there will be no point in dragging it out any further.

I too find the guild mechanic so different from other MMOs and have to say it does little for engendering a feeling of togetherness. Maybe I’ll get lucky next time.

The only reason I kick people from my guild is if they stop representing us. The only reason I do that is because we are a very large guild and I have to keep tabs on people so that I can ensure we have enough space to recruit more should anyone go inactive.

Do you have more than one toon/character? It may help you to know that Guilds are character bound, so if you switch character then you will be showing as “not representing” to that guild until you manually go into the guild panel and represent with that character.

That may be the reason why you were kicked, seemingly without reason.

I think the PVE dailies should be disected into group PVE and solo PVE. The way the rewards are currently structured I would recommend the group PVE daily to be one dungeon or fractal with all examples on an unweighted rotation. Similarly solo PVE should be a sickle/pick/axe along with a world boss or a zone activity foursome again on an unweighted rotation. At least that way ANet would still be encouraging those wanting to do dailies to get around all zones.

Certainly the double fractal should be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Back in the day I was a hardcore raider in EQ2 and was one of the first players to get to cap in GW1. Family commitments however mean I’ve been playing the game very casually since release. I’ve got three characters at cap but because I’ve never bothered about joining a guild and as such not really done any dungeons they’re all geared up to Orange gear.

Last week I decided I was able to offer something to a guild and spent a bit of time talking to recruiters. I made it clear I was never going to be able to be online 7 nights a week. In the end I accepted an invitation to join UK/EU guild and decided to cash in my Letter of Influence as the guild appeared to be well populated although guild chat was quite quiet even though players seemed friendly enough.

Three days later I’ve been kicked from the guild without any explanation while I was offline. I’d been online every day but hadn’t had the chance to do any instance running.

My question is to ask if this is a common occurrence seen by other players?

I’m not going to name names as I’m not that bothered but I’d be interested to know if this impersonal treatment of guild members is something I’m going to have to get used to if I continue my search for an in-game home.

Just completed Shatterer, inspecting loot (fortunately nothing too awesome) and DC’d. Immediately logged back in to an apparently random spot in Blazeridge and had lost all loot and credit for kill. Daily not updated.

That said it does make actually playing the game kind of unenjoyable. Hopefully the patch reverses at noon otherwise the joke is on ANet, if I remember the April Fools “rules” correctly

Hi. I’ve returned to the game after a long time away. I bought the game on release and because of one thing or another only dipped my toe in for a month or so before before quitting. I’m back now and play pretty much daily but in a very casual way. My extreme hardcore days were left back in EQ2 and EVE and I’m looking for something I can just mess around with as and when I have an hour or so to spare. That said I still have a tendency to try and min/max and therein lies my problem.

I have a couple of characters at level 80 in full self crafted orange gear and am in the middle of levelling my third character which is at or around level 50. I am unguilded and have not done any group content or living story, even the characters’ personal stories have stalled around level 70 with about 50% map completion. Ignoring PvP at the moment I still feel I have avoided vast areas of enjoyable content and am asking for suggestions for the best way forward as at present I’m getting to the stage of just logging on to complete the dailies.

Joining a guild seems to be a logical step but I really don’t want to end up hopping from one to another trying to find a good fit for my playstyle and aspiration. I know the answer from many will be “do what you want to do”. The trouble is I don’t really know what I want to do and I don’t want to waste time doing things that will send me up a dead end. I suppose the bottom line is that in other MMOs where I have got involved and embraced the meta I have been in a guild and in GW2 its difficult to see which guilds are active or relevant to me kitten many that are recruiting seem to be doing so from from a very low level and are likely to fold fairly quickly.

Anyway, all suggestions gratefully received. Oh I’m on Piken Square (EU) based in the UK if anyone’s interested.

What’s the best thing to do with yellow gear/weapons that none of your characters are ever likely to use?

As it turns out dialling settings down to minimum and turning off player names seems to have sorted things out, certainly while taking on the Fire Elemental last night anyway.

I realise the main issue is that I am running with an AMD processor and a Radeon GPU but just a quick question.

I usually operate at over 60fps using the settings the program “advises” which means pretty much maxed out graphics.

Having recently returned to the game after a couple of years out I am experiencing terrible framerate hits when I take part in big battles such as Daily boss fights.

As soon as the combat animations ramp up my framerates with the Shadow Behemoth slumped to 2-3 FPS and yesterday’s visit to the Frozen Maw froze my system requiring a dump back to desktop.

Conversely the Fire Elemental kept me at around 15FPS.

I’m going to try and reduce my graphics settings to minimum for my next “event” but do you think it will have much of an effect? Are there any other tricks or tips players have in my situation (aside from getting an Intel processor). I seem to remember in EQ2 you could turn off combat animations, some players got around it by looking at the ground (not ideal) or sometimes disabling character names helped.

Anyone? Anything?

It’s an expansion. Not a stand alone game. As such the price should reflect this.

In EQ2 I remember the “Meh, Guild Halls so what” response. But believe me. Once you have them in an active guild you will wonder at what you did before them. Crafting hubs all in one place for all guild members. Portals to dungeons, easier gathering together to run guild events. The only downside is that the present hubs used will become more or less deserted.

Anyone else unable to map the middle mouse button as a hot key after the patches?

Just made my first ever Sylvari character at the weekend. Perfect.

I got the day 28 reward yesterday AND another day 1 reward today.

I have been using the middle mouse button to enable autorun since forever but today it stopped working.

When I tried to remap it by deleting it and re-allocating the button in settings the game failed to recognise the middle mouse button. It would “see” every other button on my Razer mouse except the middle scroll wheel clickie.

Any idea what is up with this or am I going to have to get used to an entirely different key after over 15 years of online gaming?

Rangers have always generated the most angst/hate in every MMO I’ve played. I think that basically it comes down to the fact that people want to be Legolas and then find out they can’t be Legolas.

As in all MMOs the answer to the cry “OMG the class is underpowered” is to play the class better/properly. Whereas the answer to “OMG the class is OP” is and always will be….Nerf it!

My attitude has always been, over many, many years, if you enjoy the class then play it. If you don’t then choose another.

Haven’t played the game for a year or so and when I came back decided to create a new character. I’m at level 32 or so and just want to know what’s the mechanic with traits now? I got my first trait point and spent it opening my first trait but all other traits remain resolutely locked. I read somewhere that things have changed a bit since I last played but it doesn’t seem too well explained how I develop the traits of my character.

Anyone care to put the n00b out of his misery?

I’m not against it per sé but it does begin to make GW2 look a bit like The Secret World

So you complete your starter area 100% and go to Lions Arch and complete it to 100% too. You work your personal story until it sends you to a new zone. My question is this. Is there a mechanic that directs you to the next zone in your progression or do you just continue levelling in the starter area until you feel confident to find the next area yourself? Is it up to you where to go next? Should you go to one of the other starter areas and clear that as well?
