I like the proposed changes. I think it would fit much better into the existing traits and skill types that guardian has today, maybe them fit the guardian overall (and probablly inherently more useful as they will be affected by those traits).

I do like the idea of tomes, but if it came back in a future spec where tomes was a pretty specific thing with traits affecting them – it would be much better than today’s implimentation.

Thanks for the tips. Neither windowed mode or a fresh install of my drivers seemed to fix the problem. Don’t think I have any overlays trying to comingle, at least that I know of.

I am able to open up the launcher, login and hit play. When I do, the game window opens for a brief second (like it about to take me to character login), it disappears appears to close. The client still shows as running in my task bar, and I hear the in game sound (the song that plays when you hit character screen). Clicking the icon on the task bar does not open the game up, so it’s sort of running but not running as best I can describe it.

Any idea what could cause this? I’ve did -repair and even a fresh reinstall, but it has not seemed to help.

Would like to throw in my feedback without hyperbole.

Must like the rest, I am disappointed at the pricing of the new commander tags. I had always seen new colors as a ‘quick win’ opportunity to offer the community a way to get a slight increase in organizational features for WvW. Instead, it has been proposed as a high barrier to entry system to use, and in layman’s terms “a whole big thing”. I am unsure the reasons for this increased barrier to entry of use of the system (e.g., don’t want an increase in folks using commander that should be?), but I have a hunch they do not outweigh the positive effect that an easy to use system would do for the community.

I think the best option would be to replicate the targeting UI where you can see both health bars at once. Question is: will they fit? :P

Disagree with solution – this information would be most helpful if readily available. Having to target them would be very annoying and add something else for me to do while in already busy fights.

I think the solution has a few requirements – always see both health bars (we should know if the necro is about to die if he comes out of DS). Also should show how much DS they have left. Optional goodness would be it showing us when they are in DS (nice to have, but if i see the number droping or not I can make assumptions).

New AoE Visuals

I wanted to post some very positive feedback on the new AoE visuals during the Lornar’s Pass fight. There is in variety in that fight – some large, some small, some that overlap, and some that are cone shaped. First, they are very very nice on the eyes as far as seeing where area of effect skills are happening (and much easier to see than the current rings).
Second, they really created some fun reactive play due to the nature of being able to see them, and understanding how to move around. Third, they were just visually appealing
(even the dark shading when two circles would overlap and form a venn diagram).

Nice work.

Edit: To drive the point home that I didn’t make earlier, I would love to see this updated around the game, even with player created AoE.

I dont know how fansites such as Dulfy come by such vast amounts of information a day or so before content release, but please stop providing fansites with information before the content is released.

If you stop funneling fansitesinformation, this might spark what we like to calll “wonder”….that feeling we got when we first logged into the game and didnt know what to expect. The experiences that ensued after the “wonder” are talked about for years.

But currently, we go to dulfy, and get a step by step guide to complete the content. And if you dont read the guide, people in map chat tell other folks how to complete parts of it anyways so it is difficult to avoid the information whether you want to follow that website or not.

This is a very interesting topic. Though, as you mentioned you can just not look at the website (thus solving your issue yourself), but people in game are giving spoilers. They can do that without early info. Thus, I think your problem is not with the fansites, but moreso something else (in game chat / filter / ect?).

I am surprised by your results. I have set my model limit to lowest, and model quality to low. Essentially, I’m only seeing a low number of character models, but a number of them show the real gear. You didn’t mention your model limit setting (maybe try this?). Performance is great, and when running small groups its unnoticeable because I’m getting all the people to show up in normal models (so this really just kicks in for zergs).

I’m getting the same results your wanting with my settings, maybe your setting for model limit is what is holding you back? (truly asking, i still don’t know how those two dials work in combination, I just feel I truly landed on the right setting by playing with them).

Side anet Praise: super great performance with the limiting effects and culling in PvE. Real impressed with how some of the peripheral things look (i can have all my other settings on high), and how unaffected small team gameplay is.

The guildwars2.com main page and most of its children pages use the new header which lists “Game Releases Media Community Services Shop”. Lovely and clean – yay!

The forums and the leaderboard pages do not use the new header, making it inconsistent when navigating around the site (the header switching when going to leaderboards just feels off).

Not a big issue, but just posting here should it have been forgotten.

Am looking to possibly switch servers – when do they gain more space? From what i know, they give a wave of space to each server (so fulls go to high or very high, very highs go to medium).

What is one of the guards had an extra CC (knock down… chill?) with a decent cooldown that would promote the attacker to be keen on stability / a well timed dodge.

I wouldn’t want it too intrusive or annoying, but at least raise the skill cap a single person needs a touch to kill those yaks solo / duo.

Supply Camp Upgrades

So a number of real good responses.

I think two things I forgot to mention as to why you would upgrade supply camps that folks pointed out:

  • Empty enemy supply camp’s supply when you see their group coming in for supply
  • Raise the supply cap on your own supply (an inherent benefit to upgrading supply camp)
  • Guards help keep yak’s alive against the aggressive mobs

So that is good info – though the annoyance still falls back to the other things people mentioned (sorry, doing a lot of recapping)

  • Supply camps get flipped a lot in prime time
  • Costly to upgrade in prime time (a result of the first bullet)
  • Seems to be agreement that the NPC escorts are not so hot

I do agree the extra supply amount from caravans is a must, and that is something I would always put on a local camp (though, again prime time its flipped a lot).

Maybe I’m hang up is with the NPC escorts to the yak. I guess I should not look at them as protection from players – instead increased supply cap, and protection from the angry mobs.

Supply Camp Upgrades

Some thoughts on a topic I do not think is the utmost priority right now for WvW, but I wanted to understand if others thought likewise or no.

Its on the topic of supply camp upgrades. I started thinking about it when roaming in WvW a couple nights ago, and I looked at the upgrade gal and thought “I would never buy one of these.” So I started thinking about why I would never buy one.

A recap of the upgrades available:

  • Tier 1 – Hire Caravan Guard: Hires one Veteran Guard and one Veteran Scout to escort each caravan.
  • Tier 1 – Increase Supply Deliveries: Increases the number of supplies delivered by each caravan from 35 to 70.
  • Tier 2 – Hire Additional Guards: Reinforces the camp with two Veteran Cabalists, two Veteran Scouts, and one Veteran Zealot.
  • Tier 2 -Strengthen Guards: Increases the level of all the camp’s guards (excluding Supervisor) from 80 to 82.

Why I wouldn’t upgrade:

First, I was in enemy territory. I was mostly running havok, so maybe its fine that I did not feel like upgrading (I expected the enemy to be coming in a short bit to reclaim). But therein is an issue, I also don’t feel like upgrading my ally territory supply camps because of how quickly they fall to enemy havok (defending is a touch boring – wait-wait-wait for some weirdly sized zerg to come in and just take).

Second, I think Caravan Guards are terrible. Any character, even under leveled, I just kill the yak and let the guards disappear before they do much of anything to me. I’ve just never had to think twice about these guys, they are just super easy to ignore and kill yak. Anyone else feel differently? I’m unsure how to fix these without making them gimmickly strong – maybe they don’t disappear until they have no aggro (so they continue to fight after yak goes down… maybe pair with an extra CC on them, they could work someone down a bit more?). Maybe pair them with the increase supply upgrade, and add an entirely new one in T1?

Third, defending supply camps is kinda boring while they upgrade (wait wait wait, god forbid someone comes to grab 10 supply and help a group out by building something, and then you have to wait for more supply so you can trigger the upgrade). Do others feel this way, or am I just looking at this the wrong way? Would it be possible to lower supply cost of these a bit (80) to decrease build time… or just flat out decrease build time?

WvW UI options vs PvE - Technical reasons?

I would sacrifice many things to the gods to get something other than “-Report” to show up in the right click list.

Its an incredibly common occurrence that someone logs off without remembering to leave party in WvW, leaving us stuck with them. We have to decide to reform, or deal with it, or have someone step to LA to boot quickly. Lame.

Mobile Authentication issue

Making this post for the purpose of feedback / suggestion

I recently sent in a support ticket as my mobile authentication (the little number generator than changes every 30 seconds) had stopped working with my account – was unable to log in from locations with the number.

Worked with NCSoft support a bit to gather info, see how to fix this. Mostly generic question answering and the providing of data. They said they were sending me to GW2Support to help resolve the mobile authentication issue.

The next response I got was that the email authentication had been removed from my account. That was the entirety of the response. I wasn’t so terribly bothered that the response was very unhelpful (of which they didn’t help with the actual problem at all) – but they make my account less secure! This is coming from a person who had to recently prove ownership of the account after someone tried to take it.

So the suggestion / feedback part: Please don’t do that! Would rather the problem not be fixed instead of being made worse!

Fishing would be cool. Standard systems could come into place (rods and lures), and it could play well into the cooking line – fish recipes and so on.

As for the gardening, I see a number ideas about associating it into the guild or personal housing. I would love to see that play into land that players own, as opposed to it just being out in the world, which i think is a bit less interesting. (people farm their own land, but you go places to fish and so forth)

Did not see in the FAQ – do you lose rating over time when not playing? Example: Person is in rank 100, does not play for 2 weeks, slowly starts to bleed rating so they clear out of that spot until they play again.

I started to like staff a bit more as I used it, but started pairing it with some of the traits to get a good deal more efficiency out of it for group play. That is when I really started enjoying it.

Example, Altruistic healing! Symbol of Swiftness, and especially Empower, becoming self healing machines (Empower does 12 stacks of might on 5 allies nearby, which can mean lots of of Altruistic Healing heals).

This is why I initially didn’t find the staff as useful when I was doing solo play.
