Hey friends!

We know some of you are still having some issues and/or are seeing them anew. If you have time while responding to this thread can you let me know:

  1. What card you guys are currently seeing the issues on (even if you’ve responded before)?
  2. What map are you in when you observe this issue? 
  3. Please add a screenshot with your minimap showing in the screenshot (this helps QA in trying to identify the location so we can give a location for lights to programming) 
  4. Please add a second screenshot with your graphics options showing so we can get a quick read on what settings you are using when the report is made.
  5. Please add what issue are you reporting on? 
    • Lighting is dark to the point of no visibility (sometimes areas are darker by design).
    • Shadows having a blocky or corrupted looking appearance. 
    • Flickering shadows.
    • Something else entirely (please briefly describe what you are experiencing).

There are several issues that can be at play and we can investigate case by case.

Good day!

QA has been gathering the reports from here and the reports from [/bug] about the event sometimes breaking after completing the two pre-events and design has come up with some potential fixes. The fixes will need to go through testing and I cannot provide an eta on when they will be good for release.

For now, if the Shatterer event appears broken folks will want to see if another map is open and attempt to get into it.

As we continue investing issues with the lighting in the game, I had a few requests! There are a few issues going on and in an effort to help me make an accurate list, would you please answer the following:

  1. What issue are you reporting on?
    1. Lighting appearing darker than it should be.
    2. Shadows having a blocky or corrupted looking appearance.
    3. Something else entirely (please briefly describe your issue).

Client Crashing from Legendary Armor?

Hey everyone! I wanted to follow up with an update on this.

We have identified the cause for the lag/crashes and are looking into a fix for it, but I cannot provide an eta for when it will be out.

There is also another issue where mesmers summoning clones and phantasms can cause graphic pops and fps drops. A fix for this is also being looked into, and I cannot provide an eta for when it will be ready.

If you continue to crash but you are not a mesmer or do not suspect armor toggling – please start a new thread and we’ll get some investigating on that topic. Thank you again to everyone for the answers to the questions! It was verify helpful in identifying different areas of impact.

Hey guys!

For those of you reporting the crash – we’re looking for some more information to help us with the investigation. (some of this may repeat information you’ve stated already)

  1. Did you have other players around you in legendary armor when you crashed?
  2. If so, how many people do you think were nearby?
  3. What professions were they? (if you know)
  4. Were you all idling in town, or in combat (or were you using specific skills).
  5. When you crashed, did you see a crash report window or a small dialog box with a Code=(NUMBERS), or did you hard lock and not get any messages at all (and were sent straight to desktop)?
  6. Were you playing in full screen or windowed?
  7. What operating system are you using?
  8. Are you using the 64 or 32 bit client? (We know some folks override to the old sometimes)

I know this is a LOT of questions, but any of these you can answer for us will greatly help as we see if its legendary armor or another issue causing the crashing.

Good day friends! We’re looking into this issue. While we do – if you are encountering this, could you answer the following:

  • What graphic card do you use? (for example, many of you with the NVIDIA 1080 and 1070 are reporting issues. )
  • What in game graphic settings are you using?

Also, there may be an issue with some locations – so if you find a spot where you encounter it – could you include a screenshot with your minimap showing?

Hey guys! The issue with the weapons not changing to Seraph in the Mystic Forge is known. A fix is being looked into, but I cannot provide an eta on when that will be out.

Concerning the PvP vendor armor not stat adjusting either – as Illconceived pointed out – there is a fix being prepped (I verified this with the PvP team as well). I can’t give an eta on when it will be out at this time.

Hey Turon!

We currently have an issue we’re working to address in which your story can get stuck if you disconnect, log to character select or change overflow maps while a story step NPC is talking with you. If you run into this, you will see your story step greyed out in the UI and you’ll not be able to progress.

While a fix is looked into for this you can:
- Go into your story journal and select “Quit This Episode”
- Select any other episode you may have unlocked (or your personal story) and hit “Play Episode”.
- Go back to Episode 4 and select “Play Episode”.

Doing those steps, your will reset the “chapter” you are on to the first step and you will be able to try this again. (A chapter being “Eyes on Lake Doric” or "Sabotage Fort Evennia for example).

Hey Caer,

Did you get disconnected during the part where you were asked to speak with the Examplar? (We’re looking into an issue that if someone logs/disconnects while an NPC for the story is talking that the story step becomes stuck).

Also, as a work around for this bug while we look into it – if you log in and out to character select this may fix the step.

If it does not, you will want to:

  1. Go into your story journal and select “Quit This Episode”
  2. Select any other episode (or your personal story) you may have unlocked and hit “Play Episode”.
  3. Go back to Episode 4 and select “Play Episode”.

This will reset the “chapter” for Sabotage Fort Evennia to the first step and you will be able to try this again.

Hey Pope,

Thank you for the report. We’re looking into a fix that allows Fion to sell those in bulk (guild decorations are not allowed to be sold in bulk, despite the option being visible on the vendor). For now, double check your inventory for the Fragments of Solid Ocean as sometimes the extras go into your inventory, rather than into your guild’s storage when the bulk purchase wasn’t disabled for the decoration.

Also, it appears the chunk of the solid ocean decoration is skipping the assembly and going straight to storage (as are all the introduced fractal decorations). We’re investigating the shenanigans now.

In regards to potentially being charged for decorations but not getting them, you can try to contact CS and they may be able to help (though I cannot promise that). No ETA on fixes for the bugs at this time.

As a followup to the hotfix being officially out – the hotfix today will have addressed:

  • Guild Bounty targets
  • WvW Dolyaks
  • Wargs in Raid Wing 3
  • Creatures from the recently added events in the open world

Further investigative work will still be going on for:

  • Raid Wing 3 – Bosses are being invulnerable when they should not.
  • PvP – Player vs Player is seeing desyncing where players are not where they seem to be.
  • Open World – The icons indicating have been downed do not always appear where the downed player is – or remain on the player after they have been revived.

If folks encounter issues they suspect are caused by the desync issues we’re working on investigating, please let us know. Thank you all again!

Thank you all for your continued patience while the desync issues are being investigated. And thank you for your continued reports here, on reddit and through the [/bug] command window.

We are currently working on putting out a fix that should fix some of the desync issues affecting the different game modes. This fix will address the issue where npcs and creatures were appearing in places they should not have been due to the desync.

Greetings!

Currently we are working on a handful of issues right now where npcs on long paths can end up out of sync between the server and the game client. Some clients will see them in the right place, while others will not. This issue is affecting multiple areas in the game: such as dolyaks in wvw, guild bounty npcs, raid encounters, and the open world events we’ve been putting out the last few releases (to give a few examples).

As a work around for some of the issues: sometimes clients and the server will sync back up when the creature or npc in question is registered as hit, snared or interacted with. So if you see something and can’t hit it – sometimes if you run ahead of them a bit while swinging a sword and busting out some AoE you will tag them and the client will force update their location for you (unfortunately creatures requiring an interact to trigger fighting will not work).

Concerning a fix: any fix that touches so many parts of the game has to be made carefully (as when we rush fixes we sometimes introduce new issues that make things even worse for you guys). So I cannot give an ETA on a fix – the best I can give those encountering this is that we are still working on this issue and folks will be updated when more information is available.

As for this issue: QA did some investigation and it looks like the element that recognizes you are walking into the portal has been shifted a bit higher than intended. If you jump while within the portals it may trigger for you and take you back to LA – otherwise using the suggested work around of using the “leave WvW” button will work.

A fix is being investigated but no eta on when we’ll be able to push it out at this point.

As for the Sloth and Abomination statues – we passed through some fixes today. If you visit your hall, you should find these can be safely removed now. =D
