I hope they put them back Nemesis has the best builds for necro, it’s going to be harder for new players to find them now.
High toughness draws argro in pve so remember that
Tbh, the could fix the signet by simply changing it from damage taken to dealing damage siphons health. Combine that with fixing the amount of blood siphoning in the blood tree it would be decent. But I doubt they will fix either.
A passive damage reduction is nice but doesn’t fit with the necromancer theme since we should use death shroud instead.
Just change the signet to damage dealing and increase the amount siphoned = fine. At least imo.
Basic build copy past if link doesn’t work.
1) Don’t use runes you get more crit bonus if you go ruby orbs.
2) I get near to death because you need to be able to get in and out of DS easily to access life blast. Plus you can regen lifeforce pretty easy.
3) go 10 points into curses for reapers precision or go 10 points into blood for mark of blood on dodge.
Really up to you.

If axe auto-attack ever gets buffed, a well build with dagger/warhorn and axe/focus will be great. It’s probably pretty good right now; it’s just overshadowed by how crazy condition builds are at the moment.
Thats the point you don’t need a auto attack for axe… you auto attack is… drum roll DS #1. Literally I’m not joking.
Focus 4 + Axe 2 Burst, Go into deathshroud and 100% crit your next 4 attacks then drop out and repeat burst again (providing you have axe training for cd).
I hope you redo your glass cannon necro video as well with all the buffs to death shroud I can’t wait to see what you come up with
Hi Nemesis,
I really like your builds
My question is whether this is the build I am looking for if I wanted to be most versatile and useful in general?
I am currently using your conditionmancer build, and its good, but I feel there are not enough enemies in most cases for it to perform optimally.
Also, do parties prefer conditionmancer or a hybrid necro in high level fractals in general?
I like his build just because you can do both, and if you end up in a party with more then one necro you can fill different rolls instead of having 2 condi necros lol. With this build I feel like your taking the best from both builds and squishying them into one amazing build that works for about everything.
Well as long as they get it done, that stuffs been broken far too long :P
It feels to me like they increased the speed of the scepter’s autoattack. But they didn’t say anything in the patch notes so meh.
Anyone else can verify if there was a increase?
I just realized that GW2 already has a perception changing skill. Check this out (sort of like getting drunk in WoW)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stein_of_Cold_Beer
It would be a really easy task for them to add that already perception changing thingie to the skill if they wanted.
Edit: Picture isn’t as clear as I would like. It makes the screen all distorted and wavy.

So what i’m taking away from this so far is that Guardian shield has little to no use in PvE except in a few dungeons and under certain situations. But where it really shines is in PvP.
Alright well I guess that answers my question. Thank you all for the replies.
I played necro for a long time but recently I picked up a guardian and with my Necro I automatically could feel what weapons I really liked and how to use them. But Guardian omg I’m level 60 and still don’t grasp how the hell this class works.
My main problem is with the guardian shield to me it looks like completely useless crap compared to the warrior shield which actually blocks and gives a useful daze. Now for Guardians the only uses I can see is using skill 4 for protection as well as incorporating it into a AH build.
Yet I constantly see level 80 guardians running around with shield which I consider useless. Could some almighty guardian out there please explain why I should even bother using that slab of wood?
Edit: i’m talking from a pve context not pvp.
Agreed after watching the video it seemed very mesmer ish but the idea itself sounded great. If anet is bent on adding a new condition add this one, if not just stick with the original soul eater idea. It will be much more beneficial for necromancers.
On the Dragonbrand I believe server in Wayfayer foothills. There are these Veteran Molten Brawler/Shamans and they are completely bugged. They are oneshoting everyone in sight. You can’t touch them they jump to you and your dead.
Level 15 invincible mobs.
Edit: They just spawn randomly across the map and kill people.

I’ve got it !… Ohhhh… i’m so all over this one… New addition to the initial video coming soon.
Alright way to go Nemesis! I’m looking forward to it!
I always see topics with people having tankier armor sets like Knights mix’d with Soldier etc. So my question is anyone run full Berserker and hows that working out for you? I figure it would be good since we have access to a lot of boons but I’m curious of what other people have to say.
Oh and I curious how workable it is in dungeons.
IMO, all they need to do with shields is swap their skills with the focus skills.
I’ve said over and over again on here it makes no sense to me that the focus is a better shield than a shield.
If they did that I would be soooooo happy
Thanks for the survey link, I voted doubt it will change anets mind though…
Saw this on another forum topic apparently quoted from Anet "Awesome ideas guys. Just wanted you to know we’re watching/listening to your ideas for things that fit GW2.
Keep in mind that we are trying to find a condition that can be used by multiple classes (doesn’t have to be all classes, but we like to keep the condies/boons low in the game so that it’s easy for players to learn) and something that has cool play for the caster, as well as the target.
So, with that in mind, keep the ideas flowing!"
So are you going to change it and come up with a new idea then Nemesis?
Not to question ArenaNet’s intentions… but…
They are adding a skill 5 on Death Shroud for the necromancers in order to make the class more balance i presume, certainly not to imbalance it even further.
The fact that this condition will be shared with other classes makes me… pause a bit. If you have a glass 1 that has more water in it then glass 2, you add water in glass 2 to make it even, then why would you add water in glass 1 again… Of course this is a blunt argument but let’s continue a bit…So far we have…
Bleeding – Inflicts X damage per second. Stacks in intensity.
Blind – Causes the target’s next hit to miss instead. Stacks in duration.
Burning – Inflicts X damage per second. Stacks in duration.
Chilled – Reduces movement speed and skill recharge by 66%. Stacks in duration.
Confusion – Inflicts X damage each time a foe uses skill. Stacks in intensity.
Crippled – Reduces movement speed by 50%. Stacks in duration.
Fear – Causes the target to run directly away from the caster. Stacks in duration.
Immobilized – Immobilizes and prevents dodge. Stacks in duration.
Poison – Inflicts X damage per second. Reduces outgoing heals by 33%. Stacks in duration.
Vulnerability - Increases damage the target takes by 1%. Stacks in intensity.
Weakness - Causes 50% of attacks to be glancing and reduces endurance regeneration by 50%. Stacks in duration. This conditions also have a an opposite in the game in the form of some boon… this conditions can also be achieved by corrupting their opposite boon. The entire game was designed around this boons / conditions variables, all the skills were adjusted for this… they have also tried to incorporate everything you might need into the game at launch.
We have blind, burn, chill… movement speed reduction (cripple), daze aka interrupt, stun… fear… In this setup there isn’t much “unique” stuff left that will not imbalance the game. You can’t increase or decrease condition damage because by default it goes through toughness… you can’t reduce the target’s armor to power damage because we already have vulnerability. Movement related conditions have been covered…
I do not understand their thought process behind this. I also believe that it will have too great of an impact on everything… which, even if positive, i believe it is too hard to calculate the balance of it, while starting at a foundation that is not yet perfectly balanced…
… and my 3rd and final argument: All the in game conditions present so far have multiple way of being applied by the player at any given time. We have more then 1 skill that applies that condition per build per class per player. A new dark theme condition that is only on DS 5… what is up with that ?… Or will they put this condition on other skills as well ? For all classes ?… So much balancing to do then…
If not… and it’s a unique condition on one unique skill, has to be "special"y strong. What are we going to get, agony ?
EDIT: With this being said… i will now drop out of the initiative of adding the DS 5 skill. I still believe my skill was genius for the necromancer, it was just not what they were looking for i believe.
I do not claim to be able to theory craft from the top of my head something that will have that much of an impact on the game. The number of variables that it has to verify and go through, the number of scenarios it has to validate for balance is just too great… and like i said, the game is not 100% balance at the moment, modifying it… i believe is a bad idea for now… but then again i may not be an expert…
This is why none of my suggestions from the past modified the core of the game in any way. It’s simply too hard to calculate all the possible implications of that…
No that’s what I’m saying your idea is genius and easy to implement. I still love it and wish it would get implemented so I don’t want you to drop the idea; that wasn’t my plan when I posted that. I was just hoping that you would somehow modify it a little to make it all-class? if you get what I mean because it would be awesome to see it in game.

I just finished watching your entire video and I have to say I’ve very impressed. You managed to keep it simple yet address some very important issues of necromancer attrition while making it available to any build. You really thought deep into how the class works and came up with a REASONABLE suggestion unlike some people with their crazy fantasy’s.
I hope that you suggestion gets accepted and you have my full support as a necromancer loving player.
Can you create a link to that build? I would be interested in trying it
I linked it earlier in the thread, but here it is again: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Boonway-alternative-Guardian-build.
It doesn’t pigeonhole you into any specific weapons; heck it doesn’t even really pigeonhole you into a specific gear set, though I have a set that I do like greatly. It can even use every single stat of Celestial gear effectively, with at least one 1:1 scaling ratio on condition damage and healing power each.
Alright thanks for the link
I have to disagree with you there, DeathPanel. I’ve been running a non-AH build since beta that’s made parties used to AH guardians ask how what I do is even possible. Looking at it in perspective, I can either get extra personal healing via AH, or….
- 33% uptime on every boon on the game for myself, along with permanent vigor, retaliation, swiftness, and 10-20 stacks of might
- 33% party-wide uptime on Stability
- 100% party-wide uptime on Retaliation
- 66% party-wide uptime on Swiftness
- 5-15 party-wide stacks of Might
- Potential for 100% uptime on Protection in combat, not even dropping off when using other hammer skills or swapping to another weapon
- Ability to swap traits to improved consecrations and spirit weapon duration for anti-projectile work whenever necessary, without a respec
- Near-complete party-wide immunity to everything that can impair movement, as well as damaging conditions
- An extra 6-10% damage most of the time
- 100 extra health per dodgeroll for any ally affected (depending on what AH build you’re comparing to)
The way I see it, that’s better support than AH could provide.
Can you create a link to that build? I would be interested in trying it
I love how this entire topic shifted from Necromancers attrition to P/D Thief… o(<_<)o
You only have two choices for underwater weapons, so there isn’t much choice there. Most likely his underwater weapon weps will mirror his non water wep’s stat wise.
This was well done CHIPS, and I agree for a class that is supposed to be heavily attrition based we doing a pretty poor job. Still that being said necro’s can survive a lot long then most classes when I’m in a dungeon and it’s a party wipe most times I’m the last man standing.
So they’re doing something right, but yes there is room for improvement.
I use Axe/Focus and Staff offhand for utility/aoe since powerbuilds kinda lack, and axe is a great weapon you can do some major dps. I just hit focus 4 stack vuln then burst with axe 2 and my mobs hp bars just drops to zero.
They’ll get to sooner or later, they have been showing necro’s some love with the recent patches. We’ll just have to wait till then but it would be nice if a dev replied to at least confirm it’s still being worked on lol
Ya they are talking about weapon swap, they haven’t said anything yet on DS UI…. They’re probably just busy or too lazy to deal with it right now.
I really wish that they would add a new power type weapon with long range for necromancers. Cause you have to choose between dagger which is way to close up, and staff which does decent but not great dammage in a power build.
I like staff but in PvE unless I’m running a dungeon it almost feels like I have to depend on my Axe/Focus only for dps.
Hehe was thinking if they allowed Necro’s to use great swords then we could use Twilight. That would be pretty sweet xD
Everyone is constantly saying they want new weapons but you have to remember that if a weapon is implemented it would have to be something multiple classes could use. That being said I would love a Scythe, and also I love your Tome/Book idea.
Squishyness (thats prob not even a word) doesn’t matter in the slightest. If your a good enough player you can compensate with skill. Personally I like going glass cannon in my builds. I can compensate for the lack of survivability with skill and not to mention your party will constantly have boons up so that helps with survivability. Toughness is nice but increases your agro so keep that in mind.
What do you guys think? ( Note our black scythe position with respect to the staff )
No it’s a known bug, and a bug report has been submitted already. Personally thought I think this bug is pretty cool since you get a double scythe but meh.
F4 puts the necromancer into a long anime cutscene where he is impervious to damage, gets huge blonde hair, and slowly charges up a super move over 5 episodes that will destroy all life.
Seriously though, these are insanely OP.
You sir have earned my respect, kudos.
Kudos man. I really like this playstyle, and I’ve been trying to theorycraft a good hybrid build for some time now. Seems like we can achieve some pretty great combined DPS, but the cost is what worries me.
I’m assuming you armor is Rampager/Berserker or maybe Knight’s/Rabid.
This, like other builds, shows that the damage is viable, but I’m always concerned with whether a build is survivable.
After falling in love with the Profession and switching to a Necro main after playing a guardian for quite some time, I’m still learning how to play the class. I recognize the difference between wearing heavy and light armor, but I’m still used to hardly ever dying (once I’m familiar with mechanics) in dungeons – especially in Fractals – on my guardian.
I understand not traiting in the toughness and vitality lines for the typical hybrid, and not gearing for any vitality (since our base is the highest), but can you really get away with not gearing for any (or gearing for very little) toughness in PvE dungeons? For example (because of your screenshots), how do you do in terms of staying on your feet in Fractals? Is smart use of DS and dodging enough to keep you on your feet?
I’ve played the Juggermancer and Conditionmancer builds so far, and they’re both very survivable builds, but going from all of that to nothing with these hybrid builds makes me feel like I’ll have my party on constant res-watch… Hopefully that’s not the case.
He’s using Nemesis Ultimate Hybrid Build and yes it’s a very viable build I’m using it myself and love it. The armor would be rampager’s. And yes it has decent survivability despite not having vitality and toughness if you watch his video nemesis runs level 36 fractals with this setup.
link to video/guide check it out if your interesting it’s extremely well done.
Around 41min is where he shows the fractals thingie
(edited by DeathenShada.6397)
I’m not a ranger and frankly I have no idea what your talking about. But from what I grasped your pets are having trouble in fractals. If you don’t want to unbalance pets for the rest of the game why not give them a special buff when they are in fractals only? Dunno if it’s possible but to me that seems like the simplest solution.
Alright i’ve been looking at weapon skins for my necromancer that I want to go crazy with nice endgame gear.
I want Final Rest for my staff and Eye of Rodgourt for my scepter.
But I still have my axe and dagger and right now they’re rocking the nightmare skins but as of now I haven’t found any necromancer skins like there are for staff or scepter.
Anyone know some awesome skins for axe and dagger that would fit a necromancer? Non legendary I dislike those skins.
What gear are you using or did you change it from your previous glass cannon build?
I don’t have final rest yet but if my char has the graphics bug I would actually like it. I mean now you got a double Scythe staff and that looks pretty awesome it reminds me of Hidans Weapon from Naruto. Well sorta lol but it’s still cool having two I think. Unless they modified it so that it looked like CHIP suggested.

Make a level 1 necromancer, then go to the pvp button, enter the mists. And practice various builds and weapons on the dummies.
In this order:
Tank is most expensive, you will need ascended gears.
Hybrid second because you are covering two different styles.
Conditionmancer is cheapest since its one focus only.
That being said hybrid and tank will be funner then a simple conditions build.
Lastly DO NOT BUY YOU EXOTIC GEARS!!!! I made that mistake you will hate the skins and end up farming dungeons for nice skins. Trust me save your money and buy a set of rares and farm dungeons.
Bas hit it right on the head. Axe is a fantasitc weapon, you use another weap for auto attack then switch to axe and focus to burst.
It dropped for me!
take that 0.05% chance! (Underworld server)
Out of curiosity whats your magic find? and were you using magic find foods?
3% , which came from the exotic Karka ring or accessory. No food or such. Believe me magic find is one big scam. It’s just a matter of luck and I got lucky this time.
I have crappy luck so I’ll try the food it’s only 3 silver lol

I was using axe before this patch and loving it. The 10% bonus damage increase just made my year lol not to mention focus got some love <3
Wow….. this is ridiculous… The one place that everyone farms is where it is lol
I’d say the answer is pretty obvious. Without the proper gear your damage will be absolute crap, and that goes for every class in the game. Want to do condition damage well without condition gear well you won’t do very much damage. Want to tank? without high vit/toughness gear you won’t be doing any of that either.
In my opinion the actual build is only like 25% or 20% of the build. Gear is by far the most important part.
I’m not sure but I will warn you. The higher the toughness the more agro you will steal. I have like 2800 toughness on my necro and he is a argro lover….
