If your using full berserker gear use Axe and Focus. Use focus 4 to stack vuln then use Axe 2 to burst and you’ll hit like 5-7k hits.

Death Shroud is perfectly fine the way it is, the only thing I would like to see is a improvement to the UI so i’m able to see conditions that are on my character.

Like the other people said you idea is ridiculously OP. Elementalists, Guardians, which I know of have 4 F1 skills you want us to have 8? Besides that being obviously over powered the fact remains that Necromancers are a attrition class and not meant to to do massive amounts of damage. They are meant to survive and wear down their opponents which Death Shroud helps do by providing a life force pool to expand our HP pool.

You would probably like playing a Theif, since you can spam skills without cooldowns and burst enemies down super fast.

You’d want for a hybrid build “Rampager Gear” the Precission, Power, Condition Damage armor. You can supplement the fact that you get no toughness with different runes/get toughness type amulets/rings/neck

Make sure all you gear is exotic type. It can be obtained from running dungeons, karma vendors in Or, or buy it of the TP.

[Suggestion] Scythes

I’d die to have a weapon like that…. unfortunatly it’ll probably never happen since another class would have to use the weapon as well and staff already turn into a scythe when you use it also. There is a Halloween skin that turns your staff into a scythe.

Either way I use this build and I can crit like 3-5k ish. But I can survive about anything, especially.

Edit: Switch out some piece for zerker gear don’t go full Knights if you want more damage.

Armor Knights (Toughness, Precission, Power)

Weapons: Dagger/Dagger (Dag offhand for condition removal before people ask/AoE) and Axe/Focus

30 Points into spite means you’ll get:
300 Power
30% increase in condition duration = means your vulnerability will stay on your target longer allowing for better bursting.
Spite 10: Gives 1 might per life blast goes nicely with Soul Reaping 10 which gives 1 vulnerability so now you get 2% more damage per life blast.
Spite 20: Focus regens faster so now you can stack vulnerability faster as well as heal yourself.
Spite 30: when your enemy is at 50% health you get a 20% damage increase which is nice not much to say here.

Blood:
200Vit will bring your hp pool up to around 20,000 at level 80. Great since now your Deathshroud Pool is larger and you have more survivability.
Blood 5: Free regen @ 90% hp? I’ll take it
Blood 10-20: Vampire abilites provide a constant source of HP add some regen foods like omnomberry pies and you’ll stay near full hp.

Soul Reaping:
20% increased Deathshourd bar (your doing melee damage why not have something that helps you stay alive longer)
20% Crit damage increase (Now when you burst you’ll do even more damage).
Soul 5: Gluttony: increased life force gain is handy
Soul 10: Like I said before 1 might per soul blast + 1 vuln per soul blast now = 2% increase to your dps per attack.
Soul 15: Free protection + anti stun @ 50% hp? uhhh ya when that thief bursts you guess who’s still gonna be alive. Not to mention your lifeforce increases by 3% each time your hit it’s gonna go through the roof.
Soul 20: Locus Swarm = Free swiftness + Damage to enemies around you. So if your dieing not only will this help you get away but the AoE damage you do will also HEAL you thanks to your vampire abilities.

Ok so back to your original question why death shroud if your using dagger.

Like I said Focus 4 + Axe 2 = burst, then switch to Dagger for root + auto attack so why deathshroud.

Well dagger is a melee wep so if you enemy is to far away and you can’t catch up and your axe 2 is on cooldown. Well now you have life blast which hits hell a hard and not to mention increases your damage by 2% per hit.

So in short follow this build and you will have a optimal defense and a great offense, leaving you ready for every situation.

And do yourself a favor and use Axe + Focus once you see it criting for 3-4k per hit you can thank me later. Staff will NOT provide you with the dps you want in PvP or PvE for that matter. When your opponent is running away and you need to kill him quickly staff is not going to save the day it’s gonna be axe and focus.

So I just made a thief because I hear it’s the best bursting class. So as usual when I make a new toon I went into the PvP mists to fiddle around with gear and builds etc.

So basically I traited the first two skill lines to the max. errr wait a sec, it’s basically this build with a few changes

For my wep I used D/D and P/P

I was testing P/P damage and I used the Attack signet, plus haste and spammed unload x2. The golem was dead in like 3-5sec ish I was hitting like 5k damage.

So I tried the same thing with D/D. I activated the signet, then haste and spammed errr Death Bloosm I think it’s called until I ran out of initiative. And my target was well still alive. In fact took me more like 8-10 sec to bring the golem down.

So my question is I though D/D was supposed to be a good bursting build why is pistol doing more or am I just doing something wrong lol

Yup i’m a powemancer and I run knights gear for the toughness it really helps you tank more mobs and survive more hits.

But like someone said above BEWARE if you have the highest toughness of the group those mobs/boss will lock on you like no 2morrow.

The fact this guy is using D/D and Axe/Warhorn means he’s doing a power build. In which case you shouldn’t be using a staff.

If you want a condition build like you said you should be using scepter and staff.

And lastly staff isn’t “needed” I never run staff period and my powermancer still has decent AoE capabilities…

I’m more of a tanky type player so I took knights gear, it’s really up to you what you want do you want more survivability or damage?

I’m criting around 3-4k with knights, if you go zerker I can see you hiting 5-6k ish.

Edit: That reminds me you don’t have to go full zerker or knights if you want a balance feel free to have half the piece zerker and half knights.

I was going dagger off hand just for the cond removal. My only other one is the heal on the 25 sec CD

No desire to run axe in any set up though Dethen.. No offense but it does not appeal to me with the skills and dps..

And your spec is odd as you are taking about the swapping and have all the points in DS.. Sure I am missing something, so be happy to hear what that is with your spec!

Well if you running double dags what else are you going to use in your offhand? Axe + Focus is the only other viable melee dps wep set up. Other then that you have to use staff but isn’t that great since you can’t burst which is needed in WvW and does conditions.

Ok fine i’ll explain it…

P.S Where else would you put you points if not Blood and Soul reaping as a melee dps? Curses is for condition builds, and Death Magic is for minions/condition builds.

P.S.S This build really shines in PvE you will essentially be unkillable I was able to solo a champ boss with this build.

Dagger/Dagger is fine, especially if your running Axe + Focus as well. Dagger 4 gives a condition removal which is really handy in WvW plus a free blind, Dagger 5 is a extra AoE which is nice since you lack AoE capabilities with that build.

Then you can go with Berserker Armor (Prec,Power,Crit) or Knights (Prec, Power, Toughness)

Start off with Axe use focus 5 to chill and slow them, Focus 4 to build vuln, then Axe 2 to burst for nice damage. While axe in on CD switch to dagger and root in place and use dagger 1’s auto attack.

Ya I let my friend try guild wars 2 and he’s a console gamer right. He just stood there spamming skills and he was dieing and loseing hp like crazy. GW2 isn’t like most games you must dodge and move around. No class no matter how well geared can just stand there and soak up the damage.

I was using it in my pvp set in the mists, I was getting 40 per second if I remember right. Either way it’s a nice constant heal that you get in combat. If you have any other regen abilities stacked with regen type foods then all that regen adds up and provides a nice constant heal.

Anything that isn’t a Necro. Necros make good bunkers though, but bunkering (new word?) isn’t much fun imo.

Ya I tried a powermancer build using axe for bursting, it’s ok I wouldn’t say great. lol

So I just got my level 80 Necro fully geared and i’m pretty happy with him so I figured it’s time to start on another class. So I was playing around in the Mists testing gears and builds on Warrior/Elemental/Thief and I’m aiming for a crit/burst build. Which class do you think has the best bursting damage (preferably melee) from a PvE standpoint. Thief I noticed is a bit squishy, the other classes seem to have nice potential as well, but I’m hopping they aren’t as squishy.

I follow a similar vampire build different traits, and I use Knights armor instead. To those who say vampire isn’t viable that’s BS, I can take down almost anything that’s thrown at me and my HP stays nearly always topped up.

If you ever do PvP save your Downed 2 skill the fear for when someone is about to finish you. It can help buy some time by fearing them and interrupting them from killing you.

Life Stealing needs to be better.

All vampiric traits (vampiric, vampiric precision, vampiric master, vampiric rituals) health gain should be affected by healing power and damage affected by power and there… half of the problem is solved.
Also bloodthirst should affect all forms of life siphon.
Transfusion and Deathly Invigoration should also get some love.

The level at which necromancers can heal is currently laughable compared to most other classes.

But I understand Anet’s cautious approach toward this as it can easily turn into something overpowered.

Agreed right now life healing isn’t all that great even if you get all traits, stack it regen foods, and runes. They could use a small boost by scaling with healing power but like you said it could turn ugly if it isn’t done right.

I like Runes of the Thief. Crit and Condition damage are great for any build, and the +10% damage when behind or beside your foe works well with Fears.

I like runes of the doylak Vit/Toughness is great since your alot closer to enemies so that’s good. Also it provides a constant amount of hp Regen per second which is nice.

If it’s worth anything I like the HybridMancer you get a really nice blend of AoE conditions/with some single target burst making you fairly well suited for any environment.

Axe doesn’t really need to be buffed. Make sure to use focus with your axe, use focus 4 (healing one) it applies vuln, then axe 2 = burst. Then switch to a different weapon for auto attack while CD is going on or use (Death Shroud 1 as your auto attack).

Too lazy to explain more if you want a indebt build for bursting and how to properly use a axe since most people don’t know how….

I love this build nemesis i’ve watched all your video’s and your hybrid build it epic for those who don’t want to go pure glass cannon or conditionmancer. But I don’t want my toon to be that squishy and I would gladly lose some damage for more survivability. Any suggestions on how to best do that?

For example I was thinking of changing the build a little bit.

And then I was thinking about changeing the gear a little but keep crit rate at 50 but maybe take away some power/condition and put in more toughness or vit.

If you trait it your build properly switch back and forth between scepter and staff as well as use foods that increase condition duration you can stack 25 bleeds.

You can switch some of your crit to power. The “sweet” spot for crits is 50% once you hit 50 you should stop and invest in something else.

A condition build is very viable for the area’s you mentioned. Condition builds are nice because they have a lot of AoE ability etc. Personally I don’t like condition build when I play condition it feels like my damage is equal to merging on the highway. Damage starts of as crap then you build DoT’s and it’s amazing. But hey it’s preference.

Well Scepter is generally paired with offhand dagger and your second wepon would be a staff making a Condition build. or you use a Axe and Focus, with D/D for a power/burst build.

So putting them both together is probably not the best idea. First you need to decide what build you want before you pick the wep’s because some builds require special weapons to function properly. It’s like taking double daggers, and axe and saying i’m going to be a condition build. It just doesn’t work.

Axe could be buffed a little to make the auto attack or burst more viable, but I noticed people are forgetting you have two weapon sets. Stack up vuln, burst, and SWITCH TO DAGGER poof you have the #1 auto attack for necro’s lol

I believe that life siphon does scale with healing power.

Life Siphon heals for 202 per tick at Lvl 80, and increases by 1 per 25 Healing Power (approx.)

Bobo thats a great point you brought up there. I’d like to make a suggestion then.

@Cerulean if you are indeed going to use this build for WvW I’d suggest you use a dagger offhand with your dagger and pick up Epidemic instead of your wall or something.

Dagger 4 Spreads conditions to your enemies, and epidemic applies vulnerability and spreads conditions to your enemies. So if you can Stack up 25 vulnerabilities on a enemy in WvW then ‘gift’ them to all his friends around you’d be much more suited for that environment.

No you haven’t seen nemesis build then and cerulean’s. Vulnerability can hit a stack of 25 in around 3-4sec with this build.

You can use focus 4, your wall, or your well. You have 3 different skills to stack a large amount off the bat. Not to mention that puting 30 points into the Spite tree gives you a increased condition duration by 30% also if you use

Rare Veggie Pizza[s]
Food
Required Level: 80
Nourishment(1h,30m): +40% condition duration
+70 condition damage
+10 Experience from kills

All that condition duration will stack and last a hell of a lot longer.

As for your build in PvE it doesn’t matter you’ll be ok with any build. I’m guessing your talking about PvP or WvW then? In which case this build is kinda squishy compared to a conditionmancer who gets all that extra range. With this one you basically have to become a warrior/berseker type class but your a light armor class.

So my advice would probably try to increase your survivability with some Knights gear or such. Any toughness you can get will be helpful for you in the long run.

I’m not really going to comment on your build and how you traited it. As far as I’m concerned switching up 2-3 traits and not following the common build isn’t going to screw you over. It’s all about having the better gear. So what I’m trying to say is if you like this build and it works with you no matter what other people say play and enjoy it.

I was looking to increase duration on my vulnerability stacks and I saw this item.

Bowl of Poultry and Leek Soup

Nourishment(30 m):

-36% condition duration
+60 vitality
+10 Experience from kills

Does it increase condition on the target? or does it reduce the time conditions stay on me? Cause in a video I was watching some guy said it increases the duration on the target.

So I was in the Mists PvP area training on some dummies and I had the rune of vampirism in my armor.

(1): +25 Power.
(2): 5% chance to cause your next attack to steal health when hit. (Cooldown: 15s)
(3): +50 Power
(4): Your next attack after using your healing skill steals health.
(5): +90 Power
(6): You become mist when you fall below 10% health. (Cooldown: 60s)

The problem is with number 6, i’m a necromancer so as the fight progressed I went into death shroud and eventually my DS depleted to the 10% mark. So I went into mist form while in DS.

I don’t know if this is the intended game mechanic or a bug but it’s hell of a annoying. Because my HP isn’t below 10% and now I have to wait 60sec in which time I could die. Why is it being wasted on Death Shroud?

One suggestion is don’t invest heavily on the mats that are heavily traded on the trading post like copper ore etc. For one reason it will take for ever and a day to buy and sell the mats since 100,000 other people are also doing it. Also you will make 1 copper profit off each item if your flipping. So basically you’d have to buy like 10,000 ores to make 1g. And by the time you buy and sell them due to the long line up of people 1-2weeks will have past. Thats just my experience..

So if you wanna make profit on the trading post you’ve gotta find some other items to flip other then these common mats that everyone is doing or your screwed.

Edit: I currently have 30g worth of copper ore still waiting to sell on the trading post and it’s been over a week and they still haven’t sold. Just simply cause so many other people are selling at the same price. At this point I really just wanna make my money back, and it feels like a loss if it takes that much time to make 1-2g.

Well like I said Sapphires won’t affect your life siphon (dagger 2). And I didn’t find out how to get the rabids. So maybe use Coral or Chrysocola jewels
