It’s from a book, as simple and uncreative as that.
- Ladders
- GvG
- Quaggans and Kodans as playable race!
- Rethinking rewards system for doing dungeons so after I do them once, I want to do them again.
Just do other things, there are tons of stuff to do, this is supposed to be about having fun not about farming karma. Come on! Give them some credit!
/sarcasm off
Least you aren’t paying by the the month right?
You use this argument for every single game you play? Not trying to defend OP, but you sound silly. Skyrim doesn’t have monthly fee and still on release it was buggy as hell, but I don’t have to play monthly fee so what, it doesn’t count?
Is dimnishing affecting WvW? I mean, is it implemented for WvW as well because it may be only my imagination but I’ve noticed that after 3 events I get like 30c. How I’m supposed to afford upgrades for the keeps?
I think since last update it started to occur. It’s really annoying and the only way to turn it off is to shut down game. I don’t know what’s causing it, my audio software and hardware are working perfectly so they can’t cause the problem. In game sound level doesn’t affect it: 100% or 0% is still the same.
If the video is silent and only I can hear it – it’s like modulated beeping sound and it’s really, really annoying.
@Deith… I fail to see your problem then? So you went to a dungeon, you and your team fought together and got thekittenbosskittenin a fun boss battle! What more do you need? you had fun?
We had fun and we have no reason to go back there again, “same joke isn’t funy twice”.
I never said I want epic gear as a reward. Here is your problem, you assume too much, you assume I’m a Wow player because you think I want gear. But in Witcher 2 or Dragon Age they don’t give me epic gear and I still feel rewarded for my efford. You got it now or you’ll still talk about gear?
See, I never said anything about wow, I just talked about gear with bigger numbers, and you come to that conclusion yourself. You know what the main reward for many players, playing games is? It’s fun, you play these games because you enjoy they time you spent on the games! If you need some sort of reward for doing that, again, there is plenty of games out there giving you a reward. This game ain’t fun for you? then go to another. (and both game you bring are single players RPG’s, and Dragon age is loot focused a lot)
It’s fun to kill a boss, what happens after that is dissapointing
@Deith, I’m sorry, but that’s not what I’m trying to say, nor the point I want to make: My point is, we ain’t all agreeing about what’s a good game! sure, if you get your fun with games that use Skinner’s Box to give you “fun”, then that’s fine with me. But, this game ain’t one of these, and we are players that want these kind of game aswell, so please let us have it!
What EXACTLY you lose if the “non-rewarded” players will get their rewards?
If you guys get your “reward” you gear with your numbers on, I loose the ability to “do what I want”, without “farming for the numbers, to do what I want”. That is what I loose, they remove the fun, and replace with with reward…

There is nothing wrong with current dungeon system. If I beat all paths on particular dungeon, I’m not gonna go back there again, there is no reason to do it. I’ve seen the encounter, I killed the boss, I’ve seen the story.
I love how much efford OP put in the post just to hide one simple message: “you’re a WoW kiddie, we’re better than you because we enjoy the game more”.
Every level 80 exotic set shares the same stats, but got different looks. PvE and WvW shares same items (meaning, if you join WvW you don’t have to change your items*). Whemn you join sPvP you got your items replaced and get different ones, only for the sPvP
Just about no one who’s hit level 80 has done all the content. You just hit 80. Go finish the rest of the game (explorable mode dungeons are level 80 content, that is why the top tier sets there are level 80 except for two dungeons) before you start complaining.
This is a vanilla release, and you knew that post-80 content would be lean until future expansions.
I did the dungeons, but I’m not gonna do them again because AN don’t want me to do it again (relating to patch notes)
Kk. Means less speed run spam in the open world, yay!
You’re just plain stupid and try to sound all smart and funny. Speed run arah, good one
It’s not their job to tell me what’s fun and what’s not. If someone enjoys farming, let him do it.

New generation? Guild Wars 1 release: 2005, WoW release: 2004.
- What exactly does rare loot mean? Yellow items or in general rarer loot?
Anything above standard loot, white items in general
- does it also effect loot from nodes?
Hard to check, but I opt it’s not the same thing. Guild have Gathering Bonus and Magic Find bonus as two separate options so it can’t be the same. Or is it?
- does it effect loot from bags?
Hard to tell, but it should.
- does it effect loot from chests?
Again, hard to tell, but it should.
Formula is very simple it’s X + X * MF, where X is the drop rate for a specific item for a specific mob. For example, deer can have 1.0 rate (chance) of dropping yellow item, if you have 100% MF it’s 1.0 + 1.0 * 100% (or * 1.0), which gives you 2.0. It’s a bit simplified but it should give you an image how it works.
100% magic find for 1% drop rate doubles the chance to 2%, and not 101%.
If you have 150% magic find, your 1% drop rate is now 2.5%
(edited by Deith.7596)
Orr, all of it. I hate it.
In case someone don’t understand MF: 100% MF doubles the chance specific mob has to drop item. If it’s 1% for rare, with 100% MF it’s 2%. It’s not 101%.
Oh my god.
What is with all you players out there saying this patch fixed an “abuse” or “exploit”
NO ONE likes running a dungeon and having to spend 2-7 silver ON REPAIRS and then end up getting 80 COPPER – 1 SILVER for a reward!!You’re right. May I suggest you stop dieing?
Cpt. Obvious to the rescue!
It’s called gold sink, same as waypoints. Otherwise gold stops flowing, gems stop flowing, money stops flowing.
- MF is not to drop better items, because every item is the same and you can aquire them other way than drop.
- MF is to drop items with yellow color so you can sell them and get gold
- You don’t need gold because there is nothing to buy with gold because you don’t need anything for progression
Conclusion: you don’t need MF
This game has much to offer at endgame.
I don’t feel like writing an essay to explain what the endgame offers. So, good luck.
So there is something in GW2 endgame, but it’s a secret and only chosen ones see it?
Let’s brake down the content in categories:Dungeons
Did em all, won’t do again, why would I? I get nothing from them.Crafting
Did it all, equipped my guild, bored. And everyone and their mother are crafters anyway.Dynamic events

Did it, it’s awful. No roles + mindless zerg = even more mindless zerg.
No rewards. No personal rewards, no world rewards (these +3% bonuses are kinda nothing). In Aion you sieged an Abyss fortress, captured it and then you had access to that fortress’ instance, for example. No open world PVP, no gank, no fun.
SPVP is all about who can stand in glowing spot longer. I mean really. Even 1v1 tournaments would be more interesting. TEH BESTEST WARR EU ©Exploring 100%
This one is funny – I did 70% just by leveling to 80, so 100% is like +2 more days after that). So what do I do @ lvl 80 (considering I have 3 exotic sets incl. jewelry and all weapons)?
They just gonna say “you rushed everything, it’s your fault” even if it’s not the case.
Kodans and Quaggans as playable race. Shut up and take my money!
Too…many…“do”, can’t understand anything.
They probably buffed Mesmers. >_>
Chill, no character nerf will come for simple reason: You don’t play this game enough to know how to play it.
You don’t read many patch notes do you?
You don’t understand sarcasm do you?
It’s just a visual, it’s not gone, it’ll be back. It happened before.
If you have level 80 exotic gear, there is absolutely no reason to get more gold, it’s useless to have it past that. Do something else, what? I don’t know, “there is plenty of things to do!”
They probably buffed Mesmers. >_>

What’s with the quoting here! Anyway.
Hieronumous: You see, I’m in the group of people here that sees flaws in this perfect game so it’s really hard to think I’m a fanboy. The difference is, I got enough experience so I know that developers ignore the feedback in 9 out of 10 cases, that’s why I said Welcome to game industry. It’s not about the players anymore, at least it’s not for couple of years now. It’s about vision they have and being profitable, that’s all, there is no magic here it’s as simple as that. And whoever thinks that in making games nowadays is about the players, let me ask you this: Why there are less and less new games every year and more and more squels of existing ones. Because players want to see more of the game? Or maybe because it’s easier and cheaper to make a sequel because you don’t have to invent things, you just change them.
@Deith Yes, that is true. Given how few people are complaining it’s doubtful it will change. Also, I doubt they’d worry too much if the people who are complaining leave, since the game seems to have already attracted quite a huge crowd of morons. I don’t think those people will be bothered by anything, just like they weren’t bothered in WoW. I guess it’s no longer about the loyal fans, who have been following the game for a long time, but about the people who can pay the most money, which is the aforementioned morons.
Welcome to game industry
Nice. Insults against fellow players. Stay classy, you two.
Insults? Stay classy? I don’t…I don’t catch your drift…your problem is?

“I want everything in a day”, well I want SOMETHING to do during the day and you cankitten off if you think doing 8 professions is my dreamwork. “Well, the game is new, log out and log in in like 2 months when they add new content” – well, the game isn’t new on the market of mmo and still they make the same mistakes and you try to justify it with dumb arguments.
So you only want to play the game if it gives you decent virtual items?
How laughably trivial and idiotic.
Where in gods name he said somethign about items? Your post is here for no reason and it’s dumb. You came here to show how smart and funny you are and you just failed horribly.
Seems like we’re getting a new patch. For their sake, I hope it fixes all the stupid things they’ve added in the previous one.
In history of games I can think of only very few cases of rollback in patch. It’s not gonna happen.
The best way to describe it is to use Mass Effect analogy. It is fun to go through all of it’s content, but in the end you’re left disappointed because there is something important missing. That’s all.
Bring a friend or wait a few levels and go back and do it.
Downscalling rings a bell?
Is anybody else here horrified by how often words like, “plan”, “decision”, “cost”, “conserve” and “sacrifice” keep coming up about A GAME?
Maybe I’m crazy but… I have a job in my real life where I have to do all of these things to pay the bills. I don’t want to do it in my video games too.
I don’t remember if it was here or in other topic but someone said to me – a game or RL what’s the difference, you have to make decissions and plan things out. He cannot simply understand that after 8h in office the last thing I dream when I turn on my game is to make more decissions and more planning.
I think the intention is that the character for whom the weapon is intended actually crafts the weapon. Not necessarily all the components, etc., but the legendaries are supposed to be a benefit of learning a craft.
Riddle me this. What is the point of implementing a great and in-depth crafting system like what we have, second only to that of EVE’s, simply to have everyone have to be a Weaponsmith anyway?
Why did they let players choose to be armorsmiths and tailors, only to have everyone become a 400 Weaponsmith?
It makes no sense. Unless they are to be only made by players who have 5000 hours sunk in the game grinding enough materials to afford the gold to have one, and level all of the crafting professions to 400 anyway.
Because some people would lose an argument in discussion “I’m level 80 what now?”. If you throw out purpose for doing weaponsmith as an elementalist, that’s a serious strike. Because now they can say – do all the professions because you’ll need them (even if you have no intention in making legendary item), if there is no reason for me to do weaponsmith, well that’s one less so interesting things to do at level 80. Busy work is always the best.

Ok, I see what you’re saying… but… you can level two trades. You can drop a trade for a nominal fee and not lose your progression in that trade and pick up a third one and level it. And quickly, it seems.
I have literary NO use of having weaponsmith as an elementalist, why I have to do it?
Just a warning don’t play portal there’s all kinds of jump puzzles in that but no gear progression yet still tons of replayability with challenge maps. I fear you guys may have an acute aneurism trying to wrap your mind around how such a game could exist.
Portal is a action game with puzzles, GW2 calls itself mmorpg game, you catch my drift or you’ll keep trying to sound smart?
Oh whoops I’m sorry I overlooked the MMORPG section of the Game Genres Manifesto, where it clearly states that all mmo’s existing in the past present or future must adhere to loot based incentives no matter what type of challenge they wish to include.
Now you made it sound like it’s game meant for genre hipsters. The slogan should be “You’re bored with RPG games? What about RPG game that’s not an RPG game because the manifesto is too mainstream for us but we’d like to take some parts of it and ignore the important ones”
For kitten sake can people stop using WoW as an argument? There are TONS of RPG games where you do kitten and get reward for it because you put an efford into a job that’s how RPG games work. Stop thinking that WoW invented loot and rewards for doing hard stuff. You’re just bunch of ignorants with no arguments so you use wow as your leverage and it makes me sick. I’ve never played Wow, but I played almost all rpg games on the market. So what now? This game isn’t an rpg game? Well maybe it’s time for it to stop calling itself an mmoRPG game and start being and FPS in fantasy universe.
And you lvl 80s who raced through everything to get your kitten as big as possible only to go Holy crap there’s nothing to do
How’s it feel to blast through everything with near exploitable means having paid $$$ to shoot through a whole game in under a week or so?
U jelly or mad? I havent been in dungeons before I reached level 80. I explored zones and did WvW so I’m exploit user? And hey, when you reach level 80 and it won’t take you 6 months to do it (because that’s just slowpoke leveling for sake of having an argument) I wonder how witty you’ll still be.
first of all u have a looooooooooooong way till u get ur legendry weapon !
we start with 100% world exploration – that will take u some time specialy at the end !
2nd u need spendd weeks on WvW to get 500 budgets
3rd u need get 200 skill point – mean u need alot of exp .- since now dengeons give u 20k exp instad of 177k exp per run !!
4th u need alot if dungeon run so u could get ur gift of the specipic weapon u need (500 tocken) each run give u 20 ! do the math !
and for the finaleeeee
need toooooonnnns of gold to buy all the math and the “weapon of rage” that probably cost like 70-80 goldif u menge to get all that ! congrats on ur new legendery weapon
He asked if he can for example trade one of the gifts from one character to another (through the bank) and you jump out with some usless junk information.
@OP: It depends, you can transfer the smaller parts like dusts for specific gift but I don’t think you can trade the gift itself (it’s easy to check, just talk to a vendor and see if it’s soulbound or account bound). I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to do it with some parts, so yo u can’t aquire everything on one character and just “trade it” to next.
If it’s your personal story that I got some bad news. As an elementalist you’ll have a hard time in some quests from your personal story. Soloing it will require a lot of running back from checkpoint, sometimes reseting instance and frustration. You can try to get someone from your guild or your friends to help you with it, there difference in difficulty will be insane – in term: you’ll see how much easier is it when someone helps you
Yes, it’s about cost vs reward. Just like in RL you have to ask yourself: is skipping a 5 minute trip walking to the supermarket worth the X dollar I have to spend on gas to go by car?
It’s a video game not a real life, as almost everyone is saying to me – I’m supoused to have fun it.
Ingame or in real life: you can only spend money once. In ANY game. You decide what is worth more: bunnyhopping, converting to gems, buying armor or whatever it is that floats your boat.
But you are wasting it on something that is obviously not worth it to you, and now you are complaining that you don’t have anything left? It’s like the lazy fat dude on the couch who uses his car to ride the single mile to the supermarket because he cannot be bothered to walk, and then complaining about the gas prizes. Don’t want to waste your money? Take a walk. Want to be lazy? Okay, then pay up.
In other games you have to buy mounts to get around, and most of the time, those are not cheap either.
Personaly I don’t have problems with gold, I have it plenty waiting in bank depo and I couldn’t care less. Thing is, I know how to earn gold easy way without sweat, and new players won’t figure it out so easly, I got tons of experience in getting gold from other games, some of new players don’t have it and they can feel punished.
It depends, on one side, level 80s may stop charging for items/materials due to them already having gold they need OR they’ll charge ever more to even up the loss.
In my opinion, both things will happen, so it will even out and nobody will feel the difference. The real difference can make adding new content like they did with mystic forge so butter price from 1c went up to 10c, glob of ectoplasm from 20s to 24 and so on, and so on. The gold isn’t the problem, people won’t buy for more than they can aquire and people won’t sell for more than people can aquire. Items and their availability (drop rate/farm rate or whatnot) define the prices and the market.
Just a warning don’t play portal there’s all kinds of jump puzzles in that but no gear progression yet still tons of replayability with challenge maps. I fear you guys may have an acute aneurism trying to wrap your mind around how such a game could exist.

Elementalist with weapon swaping…I would be a happy, happy man.
Why would you wanna weapon swap from two daggers to two more daggers? :p

I could use some assets from staff: aoe stun, knockback, cripple and snare.
You have to mix it, Orr and Frostgorge, personaly I love Frostgorge, it has much much much better design than Orr (mostly because they don’t have chain-cc mobs). If you don’t like Orr and miss experience, it’s better to join WvW than struggling in Orr. I did that and it was fun and nice introduction to WvW.
@Cazio (quoting broken):
Because there is nothing better than busy work. Get rid of quest back tracking, double or even tripple the busy work in everything else. Well played, well played.
