I think the feedback on this topic has been clear (ever since it was introduced ages ago):

• It would be bad for the vast majority of people to change the wallet.
• No one would object to adding to the wallet a separate “savings account” — coin that does not show up in TP or vendor windows.

I’m not sure how easy this would be to implement or how much time it would cost customer service to support it (you know people will complain about “missing” money). So it’s possible that ANet has already weighed the pros and cons and decided that the costs overwhelm the benefits.

Again i will state, for clarity, that my suggestion was not to alter/ disable/revert the wallet in any way; merely to add a little saving feature back to the bank.
As for your other feedback: i’m sure that such a feature would not be changed/added and left unannounced. Perhaps a post on the forum, a mention in a blogpost/ listed in patchnotes or an little ingame pop-up (like the tutorial pops) saying “look this is here again”

As far as code goes….will the restriction on removing Gold from banks apply? Will players that want to save up for large purchases be content with having to wait possibly weeks to be able to access their saved Gold?

If the restriction does not apply, how much coding will be necessary to separate one kind of bank from another?

There may be much more involved than it seems on the surface.

Why would the restriction apply?

The gold restriction (on guild banks and mail) is to slow down the transfer of gold between players- to make gold selling and RMT account hacking more cumbersome.

There’s no need to have a gold restriction between a player and their own private bank (that isn’t accessible to anybody else).

I would say that there’s is no need to add extra restrictions to the personal bank, since a stated above there is already a mailing restriction and no other way to transfer gold.

Now i don’t know if it was much work to add these restrictions, but surely they would have a sort of disabling method (if only for the sake of emergencies/ problemfixing back-end).

I don’t think that putting in a separate deposit site on the bank would take months of time for 3 devs or a major overhaul. That objection is silly. The wallet would be untouched. All that would change is the addition of a place (like what a guild bank has) to deposit and withdraw.

3 devs: 1 UI designer (ok they would probably be done in a week) 1 backend dev & 1 QA dev… so 2 mainly,

as i said it all depends on how easy or hard it would be to implement it. they may have done something when switching to the wallet system that would make this a lot harder to implement than any of us know and may require a severe overhaul of the backend systems governing the wallet & bank… or it may be a simple case of adding in 3 lines of code… only Anet will know which is true…

Will this take work to get done? yes, but so does everything else that they plan to do. I don’t think it would be a major time-invested project though.
Looking at it objectively: the bank had the deposit-system before; the bank has had no major overhaul or working changes (Yes the wallet was added, but i believe this is an entirely seperate system) and the guildbanks currently still use a similar system. How hard would it be to add this little feature back in again?
(besides the system in itself will not cause any harm/setbacks to those who decide not to use it. it’s a matter of choice, but i’d like to have a safe option of choice instead of guildbanks or other)

And before people start pointing out: “that’s what the wallet is for.” You don’t run around with your whole fortune in real life either; you store your valuables (liquids & objects) somewhere safe eg. the bank. Gold is money and therefor a liquid valuable, it should have a spot in the bank as in real life.

EDIT: i’m not looking to get the wallet removed, i like that feature. All i want is to have the extra option again of being able to store some gold in the bank.

There are more benefits to this system game wide than there are drawbacks to individual players.

I’ll have you know that i have my “golden”-title, i got it a long time ago; and thanks to this savings-option in the bank. My self-control isn’t a discussion point either. The point is that you don’t run around with all your money on you in real life either. Why can’t we have a simple option to deposit our gold in the bank, when we choose to? If you can stop yourself 100% from impulsiveness, than that’s great for you. But i like the “think it over twice”-option, in form of a run to the bank.

I am completely ambivalent towards suggestions that do not remove the account wallet, but I will show up and denounce those who seek to remove the greatest convenience improvement they have made to this game.

Don’t get me wrong: i’m not asking for the wallet to be removed, at all. All i’m asking for is an additional feature in the bank that allows us to deposit money again; so that these guild & tp-constructs aren’t necessary, as they come with a risk (mainly the guild bank).
The wallet in itself has a lot of usefullness, and i like it very much.

What I would like the wallet/bank to have is

The bank itself to have two deposit lines
1) the line that all your gold automatically goes into and is the line that shows up on your wallet. This is your checking account
2) a separate line that does not show on your wallet. You can move gold between it and your checking account but only when you are at a bank. This is your savings account.

Every bank in the world offers separate saving and checking accounts for the simple reason that for most people it is much easier to save up by putting the gold away separately from their day to day spending account. Right now people are using workarounds such as fake buy orders or putting gold in guild banks because they need this feature. Having a separate savings account in your bank that doesn’t show on your wallet would eliminate the need for these workarounds and allow people to safely save up gold.

This is a very nice suggestion, i could work with that: a seperate savings and checkings account. It would solve a lot of my problems.

@Zaron: The TP method is a good trade off for a bank-gold-function. But i would still like to see a dedicated function in the bank as well. Even though with banker & tp-merchants it would be as easy to retrieve money from one as the other.

@Crimson Clouds: Yes, i’m asking for a way to store money on the bank again. I’m not asking to revert the wallet system, it has it’s usefulness as well. I know that many like the current system, but i like to seperate my gold, so i don’t spend it al in one time. I feel that there should be such a method, so that people have an option of saving something seperately. Once you have the option, it’s your choice if you want to use it or not.

I’m well aware guild banks aren’t being restored. This is exactly why i want the bank function back as well. But I don’t like running around with so much “cash”. Being able to place it back on a bank function would even give some incentive to save up for a nice skin or something; instead of just spending every copper you have.

i like the overal look&feel of the UI; i’m just a bit sad it disbands your existing party. I like playing around with guildies. Maybe you could keep the party also, but display it in a different colour or something?

Support helped me out, it appears to be the reflections that were causing trouble for me.

Edit: from what i can tell, by googling your suggestion, there is no way i can switch to intelHD as i am on an iMac (As a desktop doesn’t have need for battery preservation, since it’s on ac power.) i found a program called “gfxCardStatus” but it appears not to be working on my mac.

since i updated to OS X Yosemite, i have been experiencing severe screen flickering/segmentation. I did not experience this problem in OS X Mavericks. It’s severely segmented as the image below shows & flickers and blocks the camera, when it is moved. It makes playing practically impossible.
Not only that but since i was recently diagnosed as an epileptic it also affects me adversely in that way and irritates me severely.

I love this game and want to keep playing my favorite game. i have been looking into bootcamp as and alternative; but i currently have no means to purchase a legal win-key.

Please look into this? Any suggestions to reduce this visual bug to minimally affect my gameplay are welcome.

Your a royal guard. It’s meant to look intimidating. If guards walked around in frilly shirts they would get wasted quick smart. Watch any fantasy show or read a fantasy book, all royal guards wear heavy armor.

Even so, they’ll have differentiation between casters & heavy-duty front liners. but again i get the concept, i’m just asking that they switch up next time and give something to other weight classes. I mean i haven’t seen a lot medium costumes …

Quite the read, guild master xD but i agree on most of the things. i would love to get some autonomy for the home-servers again.

And if I may add the mac-difficulties and lack of general support to the list? I know they can’t answer everything but this is ridiculous. I can’t figure out, for the life in me, why they made a client for an other system, if they don’t plan on supporting it and generally keep ignoring it. (it’s a mall player-base but it renders revenue as well).
Bugs on mac took even longer to be addressed then the others. They were painstakingly hard-won battles, trying to get some attention on the forum (only to be dumped again).

Will the expansion be released on win & mac at the same time? What about the mac client (will it be supported)? Any news on that?

A lvl 80 sylvari mesmer, with about 50% map comp, story line almost finished & a celestial dye on it. I still regret it (Needless to say i remade my sylvari mesmer, it’s my main now with bolt equipped.).

i’m disappointed about this too :/ i had hoped to get another box on a secondary character play through. i hope it’s a bug.

None of your complaints will be resolved with a magic unicorn “native Mac client.” In fact, such could very well be worse that the current client. The current client, of course, has issues. What does beta software mean to you, anyway?

To be honest, I don’t think this client is even worthy of being called a Beta. There haven’t been any updates to our client either to improve or update it in general (apart from small long overdue bug fixes). The last update dates from over a year ago.
We have a right to ask for better service and a better client.

Now as i stated in an earlier response, I do understand that time and money could probably be used in other perhaps more efficient ways, BUT I still believe we should be able to voice our request for a native, if not then an improved client. If we don’t complain or keep “whining”, as you state it, chances are that we’ll never get decent improvements. We need to speak up, to be heard in the first place!

You have to go talk to a Black Lion Armor Merchant and register all your town clothing (on every single character you have), in order for them to show up again.

Just woke up, I actually expected the update to be implemented by now in all honesty…

I too came online this morning with a bit of hope, but alas, A set-back is a set-back. It’s no ones fault, i just hope we’ll get it fixed on monday or at long last with the patch on tuesday. (It has to, with al the changes, it’s gonna be hell on the TP)

I don’t really have 5 points but there are some fixes needed (and i too think that a native client is probably out of the option, but one can hope i suppose?)

( 0. This suggestion should actually go without saying but i’m saying it: More communication towards the mac users. You don’t have to give updates, just to give an update. But a response every now and then, most certainly with bugs reported, is nice. just to see that we are being heard and people care.
Now with this said it’s only fair i give a big thumbs up to the improvements recently made when it comes to communication. TY for the hard work, Danicia & team.)

1. Random Crashes: i get kicked out, without a warning. i get crash-warnings and don’t crash, WvW crashing on me when things get good, etc. Please look into what is causing these crashes.
2. Performance update: the bottlenecks and the whole picture. like the poster above i have a decent mac (Processor 2,7 GHz Intel Core i5; Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3; Videocard NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB), not pro but decent. i would like to utilize the utilities i have and get a boost in the game. (especially the fsp, which sometimes drops to like 10 in pve events & 4-5 in wvw. Really that’s not even playable)
3. By the gods, FIX THE TP!!! the amount of time i spent restarting my client because of the tp not loading is ridiculous.

In hindsight, let’s not lie about things: The absolute number 1 thing on everyone’s wish list is a native client. But I am realistic and i know it takes time & resources that are probably not there or the team feels that these could be used in different situations. Though in reality it’s probably the only way to fix the more serious errors & grievances.

i came online this morning with some expectations and they’re crushed :/ really, is it so hard to leave a little message if there is delay? i’m disappointed A-net.

If there would be a chance to enter the seraph, they would have to open the other “security orders” as well: The Wardens, The Wolfborn, The Arcane Eye & The Adamant Guard.
It could be implemented based on race: Sylvari get a chance to join the grove’s defense force, charr the adamant guard,… These “security orders” could give quests to secure the hometown & region further.

The majority of [TS] has moved from Underworld to Gandara as well

i don’t suppose they’ll be refunding the booklets bought prior to this change?

So yeah, Underworld could use some active guilds / people, whether they are new players or old comrades from other servers, that’s ok. It would be nice if we could even out the balance and have great fights between competitors, rather then be zerged over. (or wipe the competition in one move).
It is sad to see, that mostly it’s not lack of skill but lack of numbers that do us in.

Beta-tester? Try the mac-client for extra fun & joy. We’ve been beta-testing that thing since it launched! No decent support what-so-ever, endless bugs, updates on fixes you have to figure out for yourself AND in most cases not even a dev of community-response saying “we have seen your complaints and are looking in to it.” Most of our complaints and bugs go by unnoticed.

… so by al means try our buggy excuse for a client for “added fun”.

i would love for some of those armors to become wearable options instead of reworked skins. The Raven shaman one is very beautiful, and it’s sad that it’s not available.

Enjoyed Season 1: Mixed feelings, at the start we could muster a nice force and do something. (i’m not talking about taking an entire map and defend it but we could afford to attack SM once a while) But towards the end of the season when our army started growing smaller, it was barely playable. If we could muster a 30 man zerg, the enemy would run us over with almost 100 guys. Making playing a nice game effectively impossible. Add to that the many people that leave after a zerg-wipe and we were totally reduced to farm-material. Barely holding on to a few towers and camps.
Should we have season 2?: Maybe; if the server could be balanced properly towards the effective number of players. Because, face it, who likes to play WvW when you can’t set a foot outside the safe-zone only to be hit like a truck by a zerg outnumbering you 5 to 1 or more (we were outnumbered the majority of the time)

My suggestion is quite simple actually: a closet to store your cultural gear when you’re not using it.
I have a few sets of cult gear and i love them. But when i try something new (like a new skin, set), i have to store them in the bank, which takes up 6 squares. I do not want to salvage them or anything because it’s a waste of money and well i did buy that set because i like it and intend to use it still.
So a closet where you can store at least 1 set per tier of cultural armor per race, that would be nice.
(i hope it’s a bit clear?)

this is still an issue at Underworld server. It won’t come out of it’s penn. I’vebeen able to lure it on for a little while, but eventually it returns to the penn, it never reaches the Ascalon Settlement.
