Pretty excited about that API beta that Arenanet just released
. Soon we can see event tracking for stuff like this this live outside of GW2. On another note, I had no idea these bonfires were going.
Well, today I learned something new. This is pretty awesome! I’m looking forward to see what our community will come up with this.
I’m all for more organic, community generated events. I hope Arenanet helps you out.
One handed Hand-to-hand combat gloves or iron knuckles would be pretty cool. Could go with a new class or thief.
Yes, this would be awesome. Let us be able to dye our backpacks!
I am Asian and I think not having Cantha would be a real shame. The lore of Cantha is so rich and we love it. Statistically, SOMEONE will have to take offense at anything you make. The world of Guild Wars 2 isn’t even a true reflection of our modern world so discomfort could be negated there.
What’s up with bonfires in GW2 not hurting you when you stand on them?
I would prefer both guild halls and player housing. It’d make me go from running around Tyria feeling like I have no home to actually feeling like I have a home in Tyria.
Yea! I’d definitely join. It’d be interesting to see how they operate and roleplay as them. It’s like joining Team Rocket or something but more cool and science-y.
If it can’t be permanent, cycle it in often at least!
I am happy to see that titles are more visible now. I like titles because they add flavor to our characters. I feel there are a lot of achievements that could be titles but are not at the moment, for example, slayer achievements. It would be pretty cool to run around being known as the “Bane of spiders” or “Greatsword Master” (but hopefully more creative and flavorful) something fun like that. It’d also make achievements more appealing to get. Will we be getting more title options and will we see past achievements getting title status?
Also, we should be able to optionally hide them but there’s another thread for that (for now, unchecking “show all player names” in options should help).
The pricing is decent in my opinion. Other mmos and games have it about this price or higher.
I like the titles, it can describe the player better than their name can. Just uncheck show all player names in options.
I would really like this also. Custom/private PvP rooms for team/guilds to compete in is a must in this game!
New usable emotes would be nice- sold or not.

Was just listening to the Ravencast. Very entertaining
Thanks for making it!
But… but I thought they were on our side!
I’m sure no major gaming company with high standards would celebrate winning GameSpot PC game of the year beating the likes of Dishonoured, Mass Effect, The Walking Dead and Xcom.
Actually those are all decent games. Dishournered’s probably the worst bang for the buck, but it’s still really fun.
I agree the game is growing solid. Each month we’re getting tons and tons of content. Playerbase wise, it’s leveling out to a normal level. The bandwagoners that imagined this to be the second coming have left. Other people come, others go, then come back, etc. My point is that GW2 had a strong start, the launch spike of users is over, now Anet’s growing the game through updates. I do think they could better promote their game though (the theatrical trailer was nice but it reminds people of WoW too much to help GW2).
I enjoy previewing other players’ armor to see how it would look on me. I do not mind clipping issues and many others would rather see clipping than not being able to preview more armor.
For a seasonal event, it is pretty amazing how much attention to detail went into it all.
I would buy this +1
The music is amazing, same with the holiday spirit throughout the cities! Thanks Arenanet for all the work you’re putting into making this game great
Am I really seeing this?
Two months ago:
“Orr sucks I hate Orr! Terrible place. So many Risen ugh!”
Present day:
“I miss Orr, the content is good with multiple people, where did the game I love go??”
The game needs this! I keep forgetting to take out my minipet when I change zones.
“I feel…. STRONG!”
dead
Yea I am also noticing a decrease in bots. Great job Anet, keep it up!
You’re actually just in time for the Wintersday celebration! The game is NOT dying, it’s actually getting a lot of consistent support from Arenanet. This forum is full of whiners and naysayers. It’s ridiculous really.
This forum is full of whiners and naysayers for a reason.
Game forums are normally pretty bad but the only one that I can think of that compares to this is Diablo 3.
But yes, if you would prefer to play a game where the company spends all their resources on holiday celebrations instead of the actual game then this game is awesome.
Each monthly 1 GB worth of content update IS part of the game, holiday or not. Many game forums have terrible communities full of whiners. They are pretty good games too. For example: Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2, League of Legends, etc. But believe me, those are all wonderful games and will flourish for a long time to come (if the naysayers don’t dissuade others from playing).

Flip dodging is overpowered. Asura are the best!
Ostra everytime I see a negative comment, sure enough it’s you posting it. What is your intention? Must you flood each thread with your negativity?
And to be on topic, I have 3 free trial keys if anyone needs any. I encourage my friends to straight up buy the game.
I feel like player retention is one of the big issues that Arenanet should focus on improving. People thinking about buying the game might be more inclined to do so if they hear their friends are still playing.
Also, there needs to be “underflow servers” so areas that see little player activity feel more lively.
200+ hours here and I’m still loving the game and discovering new things!
Pretty sure these 2 issues will get fixed soon. Arenanet’s working on both of them. Glad to hear you love the game otherwise too!
Well you also get players like me that lurk around but almost never post
When you get a papercut and yell SHAKE IT OFF!
Yes! Please add some sort of sparring system! I have a few friends who would like to 1v1 me for fun!

Esus, there are a lot of people in game that will party up and play with you. However, you’ll have to be proactive and use /say to them when they’re not occupied. It’s like being in a crowded subway or really any other public place, no one’s going to have anything to do with you unless you say hi.
In game: Community is wonderful and awesome to play with. Probably the best game community I’ve been a part of.
On forums: Community whines too much and always sees the negatives.
Bumping this post because players need to see this to understand why Arenanet changed the game as they did recently.

I’m having fun playing with my friends in PvE.
Honestly i love the game. But what anet did was spent the budget on art and graphics and forgot to put anything meaningful into the beautiful world. Bad loot system. You already know. I think a lot of things will be fixed. But i think a lot will not be. Loot being 1.
I just shelved the game till i see them fix everything. Notice how EVERYONE (even haters) say how pretty the game is. And it is! But the content and design is seriously flawed. You’ll get it anet. Just listen to the ppl paying you. B/c only a small fanboy base is calling this game a success.
This game is undeniably a success. Guild Wars 2 has over 2 million copies sold it has over a 90% metacritic rating. The game itself is fantastic but some people just focus on the negatives and miss the positives.
This game is definitely the best mmo out on the market. If you look at it in its entirety: the improved approach to mmo questing, the incredible art direction, the amazing music, the lack of a subscription fee, the breathtaking original fantasy world, the many other good ideas implemented that other mmos have, and the respect that this game has for its players even before they hit 80, Guild Wars 2 is hands down the best mmo you can buy today. I’d even go as far as to call it the best online game you could buy right now, but that might rile some people.
I agree with making a new trailer
One that is actually consistent with the amazing product image that Guild Wars 2 has.
They are still projectiles and others can block them for you if they stand in the way. Or you can duck behind cover.
While I only have around 2 hours to play each day, I am also loving the game, thanks Arenanet!
I’d sure love to have the official Guild Wars 2 trailer actually represent Guild Wars 2.
