I have always liked the Focus to accompany my axe as the offhand. Especially if you are running a cleric build, Focus 4 get you regen and your teammates regen, and Focus 5 strips boons and slows the enemy down. I only play WvW really so thats where my thoughts and experience is coming from.

I think OH Dagger is not just a condition weapon, sure it applies bleeding, however, it also applies weakness which helps reduce damage taken so much when im runnin glass. It also has a nice condition transfer skill that blinds. Add that to Weakening Shroud you can get 100% weakness uptime

This is my hybrid build that i’ve had a lot of success with in WvW, whether its 2v2 1v1 or 1vX

personally i like d/d(w) + a/f
maintaining LF is easier, and you don’t have to take soul marks opening up Near to Death, for even more use of DS.

When i run conditions I like running with Carrion trinkets and Rabid armor. Get pretty good vitality and toughness.
Your traits are fine, but Necros always seem to get focused so just use your DS to absorb damage/ as a defense mechanism. I really like using Plague more than the flesh golem, because you are more tanky, can use it as a “oh crap” button and its very useful aoe. Just try your best to keep your distance and use your AOE fear for when your being focused to relieve some of the pressure.

for WVW i like the Knights armor for a little bit more toughness with mostly zerker trinkets and 2 soldiers, adds to the survivability.
Always gotta have Well of Darkness in your lineup for the stomps when being attacked by more than 1 person.
I run 30/15/0/0/25 i like the fury for when you dont have a lot of LF

well now that the staff marks base radi has been changed i may have to try staff again in this build

I think the chill would be better, it would help us necros with limited mobility to sort of keep up pace

I personally dont like using a staff in a 30/0/10/0/30 build the dps from a dagger/dagger/horn only helps you kill that target faster and enfeebling blood reduces their dps output, which is why I like 30/15/0/0/25. Get fury and enfeebling blood with a quick ds flip. However, I do run knights gear and an equal mix of zerker/pvt trinkets with the ruby orb oh and I run with well of darkness now so that I can stomp people as well as help kill their dps

I run knights armor, zerker weapons, 3 zerker trinkets and 3 PVT trinkets just for a little bit more survivability.
I also run 30/15/0/025 because i like the fury for the DS flip and the Weakening Shroud.

I hope they don’t change it. I love DS flippin for it and the Fury
Definitely helps me take less dmg while im smacking away with my dagger

I run a “hybrid”-ish build.
30/20/10/0/10
3 pieces of knights armor and 3 pieces of rabid armor. Rabid armor has sup. rune of necromancer, knights armor has the ruby orb. trinkets i run 2 PVT, 2 Carrion, and 2 Zerker. It evens out pretty good, conditions to get the below 50% and then DS burst them ^^

Spiteful Talisman doesnt even increase the range of the focus anymore, nor does it reduce CD’s… smh anet.

well your not really doing a whole lot of condition dmg so i dont think the minor trait in curses would be helpful, probably going 20 into SR would be better use. In SR spectral mastery and if you want to keep the staff for range you can grab soul marks too

Could always drop the greater marks and put 5 more in SR, thats the only place i can see you dropping any points honestly that 15 points in SR is pretty vital tho i always try to have at least 15 in SR for the oh kitten moments

I have roughly 800 hours on my necro and I only play necro highest level other than him is 25 >.>, and i personally found conditionmancer to get boring really quick. Effective very effective by all means i do not want anyone to look down upon a conditionmancer, i personally just find the playstyle boring. Once i was all geared and everything I played as conditionmancer for two nights in WvW and got bored.

Don’t be afraid to put odd numbers into your trait lines just for the minor trait.
0/15/0/25/30 is really fun build.

As a necro yes we have a high Health pool, but do not neglect toughness, as you know you played ele and lightarmor well is light lol

well in my build when i’ve built up 25 stacks of bloodlust i switch to staff, and it seems okay without greater marks. If Im going just for targeted wells and just staff only then i go

I run d/d all day in wvw.
I love the traited 25% movement speed when i have it up, immobilized by a stinky ranger? Dagger 4 will change that real quick not only that but you can hit em with dagger 5 first and their dps will drop real quick, fighting a stupid thief? DS 3 to Dagger 3 and bam he’s yours for the taking.

I enjoy 1 PVT and 5 Knights armor. 3 Zerker and 2 PVT accessories.

When rangers entangle me, i enjoy using Dagger 4 and then Dark pact ^^ then bursting them down with my dagger and wells. If i ever see someone 1v1 a ranger i always step in and just attack their pet it makes me giggle

I think the DS1 should be 3/4 or 1/2 cast time. We should be able to get more than 5 shots of with it with fury popped

I run d/d and a/f, once i get my 25 stacks of blood lust i switch to d/f and staff for well bombing, and of course changing some of the traits to fit what i need them to do and utilities.

in your build i would drop signet of the locust. With d/d and quickening thirst you have 25% movement speed, your signet does not stack with this so its kinda of useless, so i would drop that and either use well of darkness (if you find yourself taking too much damage) or Well of Suffering, i prefer suffering. Well of Suffering is a nice combo start into DS4, and if you choose Weakening Shroud you apply bleeds and weakness so you take less dmg all while doing aoe damage and applying vulnerability
Hemophilia in curses seems kind of pointless, i would choose Reaper’s Precision or Weakening Shroud, I prefer reaper’s precision. Although the Weakening Shroud would be nice to keep bleeds while in d/d.
Death Magic i would switch out Dark Armor, you only have two channel skills, DS4 and Dagger2, and pick up Ritual of Protection if you decide to grab a well.
Blood Magic
Since it seems like you are goin for almost a hybrid build i would grab Mark of Evasion, instead of dagger mastery.
DS 2 then rolling into your opponent can keep your bleed stacks up really nice.

Just my two cents

I recommend Knight’s Armor, Necro has a high health pool as is.

I feel like Axe is meant to me used in a primarily DS build.
I use Axe as a main weapon when i want to just DS dance, when DS #4 is on cooldown i DS flip for the 5 second Fury and Axe #2 get some good numbers with it.

Why not leave it open for imagination eh?
But i’ll tell you my traits that i’ve molded into.
And maybe if enough people like it, i will drop some hints ^^

As the title says this is my first necro video.

I have tried lots of builds and this one appeals to me the most.
I know in the clips I switched up a few traits but very slightly not by much.

I highly disagree. This build is very viable with the right gear setup.
I run it in dungeons, sPVP, and WvW.
I have a different trait setup tho

Edit: Okay my setup is a bit different but about the same trait spec points wise.

I wouldnt say its any less effective under 50%.
Just a little before 50% LF is when I back out if it, or start using it defensively.

I like running 30/20/0/20/0. d/d + a/f targeted wells working on perfecting the gearing right now. But im workin towards Knight armor about half way there for a full set

Honestly i would drop 10 points in death magic and stick with greater marks. No need for for the staff recharge rate to be faster especially if your not using fear to do damage with.

If your really concerned about keeping your LF up then change Hemophilia to Reaper’s Precision.

Basically you scepter stack bleeds poisons yadda yadda and hopefully you get a weakness in there with your crit, then you epidemic then BAM! hit em with the well of corruption and then lay down the carpet bomb of staff marks!

Aye, and dont forget to OPEN your attack with Life Blast building Might so your raw and condition damage does more

Yes i know, signet of spite has long CD even with signet reduction.
However, spreading 6 conditions to 1-5 people and mark bombing the kitten out of that place will get you some nice burst dmg along with some good Condition damage and that will scare them away.
And when your signet of spite is on CD you can still spread your conditions via scepter/dagger and epidemic.
Marks doing 10% more dmg already PLUS with the help of Target the Weak you do an additional 12% dmg from the condi’s put on by the signet of spite.
Thats close to adding a quarter of damage that you wouldnt be doing.

I’ve tried both builds and have had success in WvW. Attacking towers, defending keeps, open field battles… just gotta learn how to read and adjusts to certain situations.

From one necro to another necro: Do NOT over extend yourself, keep an eye on your teammates. As a condimancer make sure you always have at least 3-5 teammates visible on your screen in front of you. You are not a bursting thief so do not get tunnel vision and set on killing ONE guy you focus is on the group of enemies.

The tool tip makes it sound like we should get the effect of it just upon casting it, whether we are in it or not.
It would be nice if it worked just upon casting no matter where you cast it cos the protection would be nice for what i like to do. well bomb, run into wells unholy feast, then get crazy with the dagger, then ds 4

And should we necromancers only get the buff when standing “inside” the well?
