To be fair, Superspeed as a GM minor is just a lazy ass fudge factor. Mirage Cloak should just last 1s, and have a native speed effect that is 150% of normal movement speed; and Infinite Horizon should be the minor.

Then you can still retain defensive mobility of the dodge button, and they can properly balance the Ambushes on the assumption that you will have 4 entities executing it, instead of balancing them on the possibility, and shafting anyone who doesn’t take that GM trait.

I don’t understand why so many people are upset over mounts. Fundamentally they are no different from any other mobility mastery we have received so far. They allow you to travel to new places in teh world that are locked behind that mounts’s upgraded ability.

If you don’t like them, then don’t use them. But just because we have mounts doesn’t mean GW2 is a generic MMO

People are upset because anet sold out and became a cookie cutter mmo. They are also not lore friendly and help ruin the immersion. What makes it worse is we don’t have the option of if we don’t like them don’t use them.

I’ve got good news for you! There are lots of single player games where other people’s enjoyment can’t ruin your immersion.

Or if you want a (slightly) more constructive argument, start a NO MOUNTS GoFundMe. If you get to $500,000 maybe you can convince Arenanet to set up a Mounts Disabled server…

Unlike other off hands though, an axe would interact with the Mirage axe trait, especially if the phantom axe had better power scaling. Sure that doesnt help the other off hands but the point is for power mirage to have a reason to use their elite weapon without also making the power ambushes redundant. Sword leap is pretty good except for the clunkiness and the GS really isnt as terrible as its billing. Give it a modified Imagined Burden effect by default (2 stacks might from you, 1 per clone; 2 stacks vuln from you, 1 per clone) and its a solid ambush.

It could also have the novelty of a 4/5 skill set with no phantasm to help Power synergise Mirage a bit more.

The damage is terrible and the cast too long, a small amount of vuln and might isn’t going to fix that.

If they are going to remove our dodge under the pretence that we can carry on attacking then these ambush attacks need to hit like trucks.

Small amounts maybe; but hit a mirror, ambush, cloak, ambush, cloak, ambush with 3 clones out and you have 15 stacks of Might and 15 stacks of Vulnerability. Given that I didn’t even post a duration, if you want more than that then I question your objectivity.

As for the cast time, that’s a problem across the whole Ambush spectrum that needs t be addressed.

GS Ambush should have built in Imagined Burden or similar functionality. Say 3 stacks of Might 5s for your Ambush, 1 Stack 3s for each clone with Infinite Horizon, and the same for Vuln on the main target. Then its a solid skill.

Just wondered what people thought of the idea. It would throw a bone to the Power mesmers without requiring a rebalance of the condi mainhand, and give a bit more flavour to power builds beyond just a trait line and flashy dodge…

For everything im going to say keep in mind that im 90% sure AN will fix clunkyness/Bugs etc.

I dont understand how ppl say bonus dmg after a dodge , forces us to dodge offensively. Its just ; play the game , dodge , deal bonus dmg after dodging.

I originally thought as you do, and I think it has a part to play. The problem, I think, is that an elite specialisation is meant to be a sideways progression; not more powerful, but a different way to play. At present it seems the most effective way to play Mirage is to play core mesmer and press 1 every time you press dodge.

As you have it, Crystal Sands seems extremely strong. It’s basically a 3 evade on demand refresh every 35s with added bonuses. I’d be more inclined to say 20s and 1 charge regardless of how many illusions you have. I also think having the ability to stack up 5s of continuous evades that you can attack through it a little over the top. Make it 2 charges.

With Elusive Mind I’d like to see it trigger on any application of cloak for consistency, but with a 1s ICD on cleanse and ~5-8s ICD on Stun Break.

Leap Ambush for both Sword and Greatsword seems a little dull…

How about if the skills that currently produce a mirror instead gave you an effect called Self Reflection that can be stacked up to 2 times. You can then use F5 to drop a mirror at a 600 range targeted location that will last for 15s and produce a clone when you break it, as well as grant Cloak. This would let the skills grant you a bonus that you can access WHEN you actually want/need it, and WHERE you actually want/need it, instead of the current conflict of spawning defensive things that you have to expose yourself to use.

Mirage doesn’t really help with clone generation. Chrono has 2 traits to retain illusion and thus is an improvement over base Mesmer.

Mirrors should generate clones when the Mesmer shatters the mirror.

It makes those mirrors more attractive and helps the Mirage with clone generation. It strengths the ambush and our shatters at the same time. Giving the Mesmer more options.

It also is very aesthetic with the Mirage theme.. Its a Mesmer running into a mirror…. and the Mesmer splits in two!!! That’s got Mesmer/Mirage all over it!!

Mirage should be spitting out clones like crazy!!!!! The more clones the more the “is that real..” type of feel that the Mirage is supposed to have.

Is this in addition to applying cloak or instead of? I was thinking they ought to generate a clone and restore 50 endurance the Mirage can use when they actually want to evade instead of having a 5s window to use or lose whilst simultaneously massively telling your oppenent HEY IM ABOUT TO DODGE YO!

This was meant to be a beta weekend. By not telling anyone the specifics of your build and why you think its a good spec people are missing, you are both making your opinion a strawman and defeating the purpose of the beta by denying anet the data from the playerbase they are looking for. Its a pretty assinine road to take to be honest…

Was just wondering what people thought if maybe instead of applying Mirage Cloak again, breaking a Mirage Mirror destroyed all your current clones, and spawned the same number of new clones using your current main hand on your current target?

It would make Mirrors much more flavorful, almost certainly be less prone to failure than the axe and utility shadowstep, and allow you to get best value from Ambush skills by ensuring they all use the same one as you, which presumably would be the one you want most.

Thanks for the videos; your build works much better than anything I’ve tried. The bummer is that you are playing an elite spec without using the heal, any utilities or the new weapon. I have the same issue with Renegade where the best option seems to be to run current condi rev with a better trait line…

Mirage is too focused on clones/dodge mechanic with no boosts to phantasms.

Clone focus isn’t bad in itself, but they HAVE to make them more durable and more (direct) damaging; like 100% to both instead of Nomad’s Endurance.

As for phantasms, they get the Superspeed from Infinite Horizon so maybe if Speed of Sand gave 1s Quickness and 4s Alacrity instead and swapped position so Infinite Horizon is the GM Minor, you and the clones could burst better and the phantasms would at least get a reduction on their next attack cooldown.

On a side note the Quickness would also help with Ambush skills that have casts way longer than the evade on Cloak.

Sword is… well it depends if the leap requires a target. If it doesn’t require a target meaning we can dodge leap freely anytime then it’s going to be an insane mobility skill and might make reverse phase retreat redundant. If it requires a target then it is weak. I like that it spawns a clone, I like the synergy with interrupt builds, but where is the damage?

No target needed for it so yes its a great mobility option. With the Daze as well it’s actually a really good Ambush, apart from the fact Daze doesn’t stack so Inifinite Horizon is weaksauce for it. As I’ve said elsewhere Nomad’s Endurance needs to be replaced with a 100% Clone Damage buff.

I think people are forgetting the ambush skills can be traited to activate on illusions, so gs is 470×3×4 with all active illusions +power and crit modifiers.

Clone damage output is around a quarter of the player’s on a Power build, so GS Ambush does about 3k total to a Heavy Golem.

Water field for False Oasis would be pretty cool actually.

I’d rather have it refill the Endurance bar to make it more thematic.

Lot’s of people asking for more clone generation so I’m wondering if each Mirror could last 10s instead of 5s and generate a clone when you use it. I mean it’s a Mirage MIRROR after all…

So much about this elite is extremely fun, but at the end of the day it’s just not strong enough. Nomad’s Endurance needs to go and be replaced by something like a 100% boost to clone damage so the “clones do damage now” idea actually means something.

ICD on Ambushes needs to disappear and the usage window be increased slightly to 2s.

Speed of Sand needs to be stronger; it’s a GM Minor even if it is a Minor. Instead of Superspeed it could give 1s Quickness, with a bonus 5s Alacrity on Phantasms to make up for the fact they can’t Ambush? Alternatively make Infinite Horizon the Minor and Speed of Sand a GM we can choose for the 1s Quickness on Cloak and Phantasm Alacrity buff…

The heal is bad but perhaps if it refreshed your Endurance it would be competitive with other options and fit in with the Mirage theme? Then you could at least buy some time for the pulses to work. A condition cleanse wouldn’t go amiss either in all honesty.

Jaunt is another fun but lacklustre skill, all it really needs is a 50% range boost and beefier damage scaling.

It might not be an option you want to take, but there is an option to run Lemongrass Poultry Soup and Runes of Hoelbrak which will cut 40% off all incoming condi durations. Yes you give up offensive options but it is a hard counter to condi builds and Rev has good enough offense to cover. With the new Renegade Elite there is also a trait for -33% incoming condi damage.

Typically those who didn’t need SR were those who played braindead Condi based builds (to include hybrids). This was supposed to be the patch that buffed power reaper, not nerf them into oblivion.

You literally just got a trait that allows you an extra 270 Power whilst in Shroud, and you think it’s unfair you can’t stay in Shroud as long.

Necros are the whine meta class. Anyone viewing the patch as a whole as anything other than a buff to the class shouldn’t be playing power reaper. This patch makes power reaper dps competitive in raids overnight, opens up new builds with some great synergy for open world and instanced pve, and allows you to trait for permanent swiftness that also acts as a stun break that also happens to remove chill, cripple and immobilize that can be used every 10s.

Do I think the VP nerf was unnecessary, yes. Do I think making it a 3% base as a minor trait would be good for the class, yes. Is it the end of the kittening world for the class, not by a long shot. Get a grip people…

I think changing the skills is risky because of the way they (foolishly) try to balance 3 game modes simultaneously. I think a better option would be to make a new gear set with high Reaper synergy that other classes wouldn’t get as much use out of. The only change I’d really make to skills would be to drop Chilling Scythe to 0.75sec cast time like the rest of the auto-chain.

A 4-stat set with Power/Ferocity major and Condition/Expertise minor would suit a Power Reaper very well. You give up your 30k HP, maintain 100% crit chance, improve your crit damage and increase the strength of your combo fields. For any other class the loss of Precision will make it a whitewash; and a Reaper on its own will not be able to get full use either because you need Fury, Spotter, Banners etc to cap crits…

What is making PvP miserable is the kittening kitten system of progression and grouping. Losing a pip (taking me back to 0 from 4 for the 9th time now) for the attached performance just flat out makes you want to stop playing. And not just PvP but the whole kitten game…
