I don’t know about you, but my understanding is that respect, like trust, has to be earned, not given. Death shroud UI in necro is still broken, pet AI (necro and ranger) is still broken, every class only has several working builds, only 1 or 2 skins for every weapon type for legendary, etc.
This game is far from what I’d call a finished game. Anet has not earned any respect nor trust from me.
There’s a lot of more interesting doT in GW1. For eg.
You gain regen and enemy gets bleed. If the curse is removed, you gain x HP.
You sacrifice 33% of HP, gain regen. When it ends you gain x HP.
Every time enemy attacks, you steal x HP.
Basically, necro was awesome in gw1 because you have total control of your health. You can sac HP for buffs and steal health back. When I play necro in gw1 my health bar goes up and down all the time. It’s madness. I want to see this happen in gw2.
Yeah. I reckon you can randomly put trait points in your thief and still kill people faster than a necro by pushing random number between 1-0.
The reason why thieves get that post and we don’t is simple. They want feedback on thief gameplay and not necromancer. Why I don’t get is why do they focus on the most popular classes? Shouldn’t they be focusing on the less popular ones so people play them?
I stay away from groups in PvE unless they’re a bunch of burst toons. Tagging enemies have never been a problem for me though. Between ground targeting wells and staff with greater marks, I can tag all the enemies I want. When it comes to boss time, I just go to Lich Form and auto-attack 1. When that finishes, I spam DS 1, then spam my wells and staff skills. What else can I do?
@ Dispari: what staff is that? Looks awesome!
What’s the point in having wurms spawning after enemies die?
+1 on OP’s post. I still can’t believe DS UI is still broken. I know it was meant to be our downed state, but you’ve had 3 months, Anet!!!
Wurms are good in dungeons. I don’t know about you guys, but my wurm doesn’t get targeted much, and it has good range. I also like to cast it behind me when I’m with newbies so that when we’re dying, I can just teleport back to safety and regroup.
Clearly nobody at Anet plays necros. Also explains why this class is so kitten kittened.
Hi everybody, I don’t post in this forum often enough but I need to ask you all something:
The whole point in getting exotics and legendaries is to get cool skins, right?
If Anet introduced ascended gear, why do you think that the exotics that you acquired become obselete? Can’t you transmute them into your ascended? Isn’t that what legendaries and exotics are for?
If exotics is for looks and ascended is for stats, why can’t you just have the best of both worlds and transmute the two together?
Most of the maps are really well done. The only ones I don’t really like are the charr ones. Although, the giant war machines are super epic!
Learn to use Death Shroud.
As far as I’m aware, flesh wurm cannot move. Perhaps a link to said youtube video?
My only role in dungeons with my friends is to just apply blind on things, and I have the trait that also apply chill when I blind. So yeah… plague form 2 2 2 2 2!!!
I’d put wells on top of MM, but that’s just my opinion.
Re: lich form, I’d like to alter 2 things:
1). Size. Lich is too big at the moment. I have camera issues when using Lich Form in tight spaces.
2). Gender specific. It looks like a male creature. Either make a female lich for female necros or make another model which looks like a genderless creature.
Oh, and “VaaSSHHooooooooHHHH”
Here’s the scenario:
When underwater, I use 3 minions (Shadow Fiend, Bone Fiend and Bone Minions). Now, most of you know that if you swim on the surface, your minions die. I notice, however, that the jagged horror stays alive and even started running around on the shores for a bit.
My understanding of the mechanics is that when swimming on the surface, it is treated as walking on land, and since I don’t have minions on my utilities normally, they die.
Wouldn’t it be nice if swimming on the surface is treated as swimming and not walking on land? It looks like a really easy fix, since the game can already distinguish between walking and swimming on the surface (evident through animation).
So, bug or working as intended?
All I want is more bug fixes and balancing issues.
OR… you can just equip that signet which gives you 10% faster speed.
Link doesn’t work by the way.
The general consensus is that there are 3 bottom-tier class: ranger, elementalist and necromancer. Depending on your playstyle, any of these classes is the weakest.
Necro: tough as nails (kinda), can’t kill anything bigger than a rat.
Ele: as tough as a bubble. Touch it and it’ll die.
Ranger: yeah well you rangers know what’s wrong with it.
As a necro, I fell your frustration about this patch. We got nothing substantial as well. Just like you guys, we’re still waiting for that minion/pet AI to be working; not working well, just working.
No. I don’t use it as minions. But I need it at 100% otherwise they’ll die BEFORE they reach their target.
Seriously, a lot of Engi and Warrior projectiles are now combo finishers. Necro? Nah, we still only get staff #1… Need more finishers!!!
Trident #4 is fixed. No more sinking things for lulz.
Yep, except that:
1). the minions don’t attack targets
2). Mark of Blood needs an enemy to trigger
3). Bone fiends are ranged
I’ve taken the habit of blowing up my bone minions after each battle so I can summon them at full health at the beginning of the next battle…
Yea I think they did something with it. It also has 100% finisher I think.
I’ve been trying this out for about 5 min, and using well of blood (because the combo field is “light” and easy to see), I always see my projectile accompanied with an orb of light.
Did I miss the memo about this or is this a ninja fix/buff?
So here I am AFK from the game, currently attacking a champion kraitt with my trident auto-attack. At this rate, it’ll take 15 min for the creature to drop dead. Anyway, I don’t know if this is a bug or not, but I’m currently underwater, casting the trident auto-attack on the champion which is NOT underwater, and doing damage. Is this supposed to be possible?
Because:
What’s the point of getting a legendary ship if nobody can see it?
What’s the point of getting a legendary weapon if nobody can see it?
What’s the point of getting a legendary mount if nobody can see it?
I find that Epidemic is not as useful when you have so many AoE’s to begin with. scepter #2 and dagger #5, coupled with wells… you don’t need Epidemic anymore. For PvE, I drop Epidemic and take Spectral Walk instead for faster exploration/running away.
A cap of 8 is not fine by me. I want moar!!! :P I was so happy that we didn’t need a corpse to summon a minion, but I was VERY disappointed that you can only summon one of each.
Think of it this way: if you play a necromancer, you get to know your skills very intimately, unlike a lot of spammable professions (Thieves and warriors). Balance issues are temporary, knowledge on your profession is more permanent.
I generally have 2 condition builds for PvE:
1). Stack a lot of conditions on one mob and epidemic or
2). Use AoE’s (namely wells and marks)
Once I’ve finished all the renown hearts and skill points, I switch to warhorn and spectral walk and perma-swift the rest.
Am I the only one here that thinks that DS skills have no synergy between them at all? Or maybe I need to L2DS?
- is a projectile
- is a gap closer
- is fear
- is AoE life leech
Why do we need a gap closer if our attacks are ranged? Why do we have fear if we have a gap closer and vice versa? Why is our fear only 1 sec and our projectile takes more than 1 sec to cast? What is the purpose of these skills in relation to each other? Why do we have AoE life leech if we don’t have CC? Why is it that when we go to DS mode, people start to gravitate towards us and attack instead of running away in fear?
At the moment, going into DS is not hadouken >> super hadouken; it’s more like hadouken >> Dan’s hadouken.
I'd rather have reanimator disabled until a fix is ready.

… and to make it worse, it’s the very first trait in death trait so you HAVE TO take it if you want the other things in death trait. Though, to be fair, I saw my jagged horror attacking and tanking a mob next to me… for 2 seconds… which gives me just enough time to notice it doing something.
No you’re incorrect, Duleshna. This looks like a bug or something. LF is displayed as a percentage. No matter what your HP pool is, the percentage should be the same since you get LF in percentages (attack X grants you x% of LF).
Then the answer is: not really. Ranger seems to be the best way to do it. Pet tank, you shoot.
Don’t even start with necro minions…
“Chill” guys. These posts are just worsening our “conditions” as necromancers.
Seriously Anet? Taking zero damage (with zero spelt numerically) turns into takinkittenage?
…and Lich Form.
The short answer is yes.
Necros have the advantage of being able to perma-swift (War Horn #5 + Spectral Walk+traits) so as soon as you’re able to do so, do it and just tag all the vistas, POI and Waypoints. Then, gather all the materials and start crafting. I’m about 80% map completion and I have not encountered any creatures that can outrun me except in one area where they cripple me.
As for weapon, staff is the most likely candidate for this sort of thing simply due to the range it provides and skills #3 and #5. If you’re running around and want to lose the trail of mobs following you, casting #3 will AoE chill them and casting #5 will inflict fear.
May I ask what your source of damage is? If it’s conditions via staff then may I suggest using scepter/dagger? Also, why no epidemic? I reckon it is a must for any conditionmancer.
You guys need to calm down. This is obviously a cheeky joke the devs pull on us.
“Invulnerable means you’re not getting hit, working as intended, unfortunate as that might be. (otherwise you could bait people into your spawn in WvW, and just let them generate might before healing and going to town)”
It shouldn’t be like that. Invulnerable should mean that you’re getting hit, but takinkittenage.
Please also take note that it doesn’t work when trying to cross a chasm/hole/what-have-you. Test it on a jumping puzzle.
Staff 1 should be a scythe horizontal swing with cleave.
Or give us a voodoo doll. Who doesn’t like voodoo dolls?
Jagged horror traits:
1). Apply bleed whenever its attack connects.
Too bad it never lives long enough to do so.
2). Blows up upon death if you spec into it.
Too bad it never lives long enough to reach the enemy.
3). +20 toughness when alive.
Too bad it is never alive long enough.
