@Vekthor:
I recommend you select the option so when you click an AoE skill, it auto does it where your mouse isI’m aware. I mentioned it in my post
I tried Grenades and while I can’t deny their Vulnerability stacking is pretty solid, I just can’t get used to being forced to click for each and every attack, everytime, for maximum efficieny. Even with fast AoE targetting option enabled.
Still, every attack requires you to click, even #1. So while it isn’t two clicks, it’s still at least one click and cursor positioning. After a while playing like that I (and my fingers) just got tired.
If I could have a FT P/P build, that would be cool. I have a build set myself, but I am willing to change
(my build: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMMM9cz0oLoGMmlCvM0xGG0VkqmRmk8khk7khA7070c7kIQ70V7owY )The build is good. However, I consider HGH to be essential. Without it you won’t get enough Might stacks.
This is the build I use when I go for Flamethrower: http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMMzz9Mz0MLovMMlovMax0x0VVRqmkq8khk7khA7070c7kIQ70V7owY
You can take out Elixir R and add Elixir S if you prefer. I just like Elixir R’s toolbelt a lot in Dungeons. Keep in mind that changing some traits makes this build also very viable for P/P. Just switch Juggernaut for Coated Bullets, Fireforged Trigger for Hair Trigger, Precise Sights for Rifled Barrels (or not) and Deadly Mixture for Potent Elixir. And switch the Flamethrower skill for Elixir U (I really like with pistols). That might sound like a lot but it really isn’t. You can do it between fights with no trouble, if you think pistols will do better (such as, say, you need to stay far from the boss).
Yeah, I can see how your fingers would get tired XD
Looking at build now….
I like it It removes some of the more unnecessary stuff!
Imma use it now, thanks Also, nice P/P fast trait/skill changing ideas
I will also use that.

Its what I did for my warriors whirlwind, saved me many clicks
And this does help

Thanks for the replies
I can see why Charr would be good for being an engineer, and as always, more replies are thanked.
I think I might make 2 engineers, up to lvl 35, and test out AC story and exp with Explosives engineer (Charr), and FT engineer (Asura), and see which Iike, so I solve two problems at once
But still, more replies are appreciated!
Thanks for the replies
Btw, I will be STRICTLY Pve.
Little to no pvp whatsoever, might do the SLIGHT WvWvW for lvlling if im bored, but probably not
It seems slightly in FTs favor, currently
edit:
Keep this stuff up, currently I have a strategy, but you guys can save me the trouble

I am planning on making an engineer, and have posted a thread about my question on that specific subforum part, but I need to decide the race. I also posted this thread on the charr subforum.
Without further ado, here is the question I have for this subforum.
Why should I be a Asuran engineer? Convince me! I understand most of the lore, but I want to see why some of you guys would support a asura engie over an charr one.
Discuss!
(Thanks in advance.)

So, I am a fairly new engineer. I played a bit of Charr, but only up to lvl 6. I have a lvl 51 charr warrior, and I like it, but im looking for another point of view, for a while.
I have been itching to make one, even though every other person says its heavily UP, but I still need help to figure out a problem.
Should I go Grenades and Bombs, or Flamethrower and Elixers?
I actually have 2 slots, so I can make both, but I would like it if I just make one. Thanks
And, if you tell me which one, a build would be nice, but I can make one myself too.
Thanks in advance, friends.
I would pick Asura, humans are by far too boring. Why be a human if you are one, true, and its just.. meh.
BUT, I favor charr over arrogant runts (asura), boring (humans), tall/dumb (Norn/Norn), and salads (Salads.).
“Charr, said and done.”
+1.
Race: There are enough Humanoid races, how about a Krait, or Squidlike race with an asian cultural influence.
An Underwater Race Starting area would be awesome. With a storyline that is 55% underwater, using the Endless Ocean area on the SW corner of the worldmap and the Islands nearby as the main zones.
This would also give Anet a good excuse to flesh out the Underwater Weapons/Skills/Utilities. MAYBE, add some new underwater only utilities and elites.
YES, but take out asian and make it a Quaggan
Seriously, they should add Quaggans. They play such a little role and they could have so much more potential…
I like the storyline 55% underwater for the QUAGGAN/underwater race :O
Especially if they flesh out underwater combat, currently I dislike it, its kinda clunky and strange. I like the new underwater only utilities and elites, sounds cool :O
So yeah. First, add quaggans, then fix underwater, then add profs. Maybe add profs 2nd, then fix underwater :P
Quaggans shall rule… FOO!
1) Quaggan – IDC what anyone says, Quaggan are awesome. This is just hopeful thinking of course, because its kinda like adding the Murloc as a playable race in WoW, not gonna happen. Also, armor positions might be tough, but maybe use asura animations, because they are the same size. Racial sympathy messes it up too… maybe you can “sympathize” a sylvari? Lol.
2) Tengu – Meh. It would be cool, I dont see myself playing one though.
3) Kodan – If they add some new class that fits, I would totally play a kodan. If not, maybe just make a ranger, or not at all.
I’m a GS user, and I use my Adrenaline basically every 10 seconds with my off-weapon (Hammer).
I like the idea of stances, though something like a variable-strength health regen based on the number of bars consumed could also be a good idea. When I think about adrenaline as a concept, I think about being able to fight beyond normal physical ability, and extending one’s lifespan by consuming adrenaline to regain health feels like it fits that thought process.
Of course, it would have to be balanced, and most likely put on at least a 30 second cooldown. However, it’s SOMEthing extra instead of just an ability.
I meant if you basically use GS primarily you dont usually use adrenaline, I love hammer, I might give it a try… but I wanna keep my longbow too…
Solution: Make thread saying to give warrior another weapon slot! (jk jk XD)
O_O
This is actually very interesting! I like the new ideas for the stances… it seems more fitting then swinging a sword, then after a few hits you somehow get extremely adrenalized and can do a flurry!
This also looks like it will make stances much better then what they are now, but it will make us who dont use adrenaline (namely, all GS users) want to use it, which might hurt our trait with the xtra damage for each lvl of adrenaline…
I am a warrior (duh), and I will focus on Dungeons, and mostly PvE. I will literally NEVER play PvP with my character. For the dungeons, I will be a GS / Rifle Warrior, who deals decent dmg, some defense, and support. I will have all shouts (except elite, because professionals have Standards. Tf2 jokes ftw)… and will mostly use GS. Use rifle for kiting boss mobs, when the situation seems like its getting too heated for melee, and when im getting lower on the ole red bar then I feel comfortable with. Im not gonna really do much Bursting, because GS burst sucks, so ill moreso be doing a lot of 100B from behind the mobs (So few warriors I see do that…) and do lots of whirlwinds. Bladetrail when mobs are coming toward us, so the ranged guys will be a little less threatened. I am currently lvl 36, finished AC Story and EXP. It was amazingly fun!

Please tell me what your thoughts are, tell me what changes you think I should make, and try to refrain from posts like “This build is horrible” and “This is the worst put together build I have seen…”. If you are going to post this (which I hope you dont), please post reasoning and tell me how YOU would fix it.
Thanks in advance, friends.

Warrior is the best in PvE dungeons.
I support this, but its
us and guardians.
Ele AoE’s are also welcome too, though.
My warrior is my main, I love my charr warrior with all my heart.
That said, I love him because he is amazing.
GS utterly DESTROYS any PvE mobs no sweat, and for dungeons (particularly champions and mob spam, and dire situations) the elite skill Battle Standard is freaking amazing. For Great Justice! shout is also extremely useful, literally perma might, no traits needed.
If you want a guy that can take many hits, and deal out tons of damage, and have a few support skills, the warrior is your class
( Btw, this is all PvE, I dislike PvP, but not because warrior is bad at it, I dont know if it is. I just dont like pvp )
Retrace your footsteps to a human
okay i need to go back over there and then….
Retrace your footsteps to a Charr
………………………………………
PARADOXIFY!!!
I’ll have sword/pistol one slot, and Greatsword in the other then
Ok thanks for the help everyone!
I was thinking of switching out GS for sword and pistol, but shoulkittenep staff in the next slot or replace staff with greatsword??
All the High Legions have strayed from their path. Iron is too concerned with peace, and using propaganda to confuse the past (Flame Legion called “traitors”, when they are responsible for turning the Charr into a force to be reckoned with and the retaking of Ascalon). The Flame Legion is too busy with their search for false gods. Ash and Blood simply lack the initiative.
Ash are busy stopping Flame trying to kill everyone, and making sure assassins and spies die before they can get anywhere. I agree, Blood are idiots who lack initiative. I find it amusing that you called the one legion with the most thieves, lacking initiative. I think that’s the one thing they don’t lack.
I think it’s too soon to dismiss Blood. Remember, they have a huge homeland region all to themselves north of Ascalon, and we haven’t heard any mention of their imperator or his actions. While Blood may have a lesser impact in Iron Legion’s homeland of Ascalon, I bet they’re cooking up something big in their own territory.
Historically, Blood hasn’t been known to sit quietly—Balthea Havocbringer, Pyre Fierceshot, and Kalla Scorchrazor were all Bloodies—and they led the rebellions against/overthrow of Flame. For Blood Legion! :P
Agreed, people arent giving Blood enough credit. We fought against the Flame and we beat them, but everyone just talks about those techies and the spies.
Thanks, key that sounds all really awesome. Yeah I was gonna be mostly a shatterer, I agree with the skills so imma change them out. But I do have a question: Time Warp looks bad, in theory. A long cooldown that summons a 10 second area where you and your allies gain quickness. That sounds more like a dungeon skill, to me at least.. but I never played in a dungeon at all XD ( Today might be the day though ). Mass Invis looks like a PvP skill, Moa Morph looked good for those big champion bosses, and if theres no one around and your bored, a veteran. I thought the 7-series golem would be good for overall fighting. But I started with Moa Morph because its an elite skill and be used for those very strong and dangerous enemies. So basically, how is Time Warp useful, or am I underestimating the Quickness?
-snip-
Hey, didnt you post this on my thread on the Charr subforum?
Cool, I still agree xD
Ok… im probably thinking of Phantasm builds then.
Are they about survivability, or damage?
People aren’t awesome enough to fully understand the true epicness of the charr, and the asura. Coincidentally those two are the best races. Pattern? I think so.
I dont mind being an Endangered Charr, when I swing my greatsword I am the most deadly thing on the battlefield.
Also, “Your faith is your weakness, human.”
That sold it for me. Screw being a salad, being a boring kitten sapien, and being a tall large human, be a huge kitten rampaging beast, or a small genius that can be the next Einstein, or better.
the asura were originally going to be more like the skritt when they were making utopia… minus the hive mind ability
How so? The buildings, the inteligence, and/or the body structure?
@ The big post.
Awesome post. It shows all the cons and pros of both the races fighting.
Mostly what I see is that the by far strongest races cough ASURAANDCHARR cough both have the same weaknesses, which is in their own race. Flame legion and Inquest, more quests about them then the Nightmare Court or the Svanir guys or whoever the humans fight.
If there was no civil weaknesses, the fight would be very extreme… I would have to say Charr would win ( I like both of the races a lot, im not biased)
@ Neilos, Dont forget military intel for the Charr (and to be honest the Dredge )
Oh god I love that quote/mission XD
That guy was hilarious.
he is also an unmitigated genius :p
Im planning on using greatsword and staff, which is why I have the trait for greatsword. Ok, I will change the Moa Morph for an Asura racial, and change out Illusions signet for something else, I will keep the Inspiration one for the random buffs though.
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mzmz0c0zMMMTacMMxaMGp9MpcaMack
Im mainly/only gonna be a PvE mesmer. Im new to mesmer, and my highest lvl character is a lvl 33 charr warrior, so I have some BASIC ideas for PvE, and in a few days I will do my first story mode dungeon. When im done with that I will hopefully have a better view, but until then, please rate and/or criticize my build
(edited by EpicFace.8096)
I don’t mean to sound mean, but everybody already knows what Excelsior means.
Not to sound right, but not many people do.
Tryin not to sound right.
And failing.
good thread keep it up,loving reading it
Glad to see im not the only one
;)
I know this is kinda off topic and in the Charr sub-forum, but if asurans and charr do fight to take over the world, not accounting other races, who would win?
And thanks for another awesome reply dude, I appreciate it
Got any cool/funny/awesome facts about the Asura, post em here!
To start it off, I’ll post one:
The common phrase of “Excelsior!” is actually a real word in the Latin language. It means “Higher” or “Above all others”. I dunno, I just found this extremely fitting XD
What I kinda thought of is this:
Asurans and Charr are the most powerful race, lets face it. BUT I noticed something that kinda was pricking at my mind
“If these guys are soooo good, they MUST have a massive weakness…”
Its been under our nose the whole time and we never really talk about it…
Both are fighting eachother internally. Sure, so are the other races, but i have a feeling the fighting of eachother will do these 2 races in. Sadly they could take over the world if they wanted… they are very powerful and my favorites.
I hope this was on topic >_<
I love the realism of the NPCs, I was afk and near some sailors or something and when i came back they were singing something about rum and stuff
Dunno its just really funny XD
Can someone please say the build? (30/0/20/0/20 for example) Because the website wont load for me
This sounds like a really amazing build though O_O
I am VERY happy there is a serious response, thank you for your answer. I agree on basically all of it (glad to see I can drink with my norn friends )
I kinda agree/disagree with the asuran section. I agree they think they are too close to humans and such, but I disagree with the bottom part. The charr dont like magic, but if the user proves themselves then they dont really hold it against them. Agreed on the respect part though. Also I like how the Asurans respect the charr the most of the races, my two favs working together!
I am sure that in this case, the word “mate” is used as in the meaning of “friend”.
That’s the sum of it. You give people an inch and they carve a mile.
“Confidence is ignorance. If you are feeling kitteny then there is something you dont know.” ~Unknown.
If this is the case you are full of confidence, arent you Lucid?
Definition of mate: " Noun:
Each of a pair of birds or other animals.
Verb:
(of animals or birds) Come together for breeding; copulate: “successful males may mate with many females”.
Synonyms:
noun. partner – companion – fellow – friend – pal – chum
verb. couple – pair – marry – match – wed"
For the people of older times, mate was almost always used for the person they are married to. And, oh look! This game takes place in older times, and by animal-like races! What a coincidence.
Love them Ghosts XDD
Yeah wats YMMV?
Agreed on Quaggan and Grawl.
Agreed on Sylvari, Human, and Norn.
Asurans are too bony xP
No I like the Quaggans
Liek my fried Hylek-Legs though XDDDDD
Thats the reason you think? It MIGHT be a contributing factor (( Might, as i suck at maps and Black Citadel is becoming home to me :p )), but I doubt that its the main reason. Still, well thought out thread
I know a lot about the charr I would like to think. But I dont know what their thoughts on the other races are. If you could help clarify, that would be really appreciated, thanks
And charr weaponry don’t blow up all the time or cause a rift to open up to bring in hell from all over the world.
Made me lol a lot.
What charr weaponry DOES do, is blow up enemies all the time, and cause a rift in their enemies bodies with weapons.
I think that if you swap Arcing Slice and 100B, warriors will
1) Lose their, really only good weapon for PvE, axes arent that good
2) Less warriors.
Both of these things would happen, and i would stop playing warrior too most likely.
He was gonna be my main too. (Speaking IF this happens, which it most likely WONT, thank the legions)
I would say Blood and Iron get the most attention. Ash doesnt get a ton of it, but thats commonly how it is. They dont leave you completely in the dark, but they dont tell you a ton either. Blood gets a lot because they are the front line fighters, berserkers, and usually what you think of when you think “Charr”. The second thing you think of is brutal warriors with awesome steampunk swords, and GUNS. While they ride on WAR MACHINES and conquer everything in your path.
The thing you dont think of is that strange cat thing you saw, too big and different, but thats not the topic, the topic is war! Thats when you get stabbed in the back, hear the cackle, and see your allies get shot and slashed down.
An Asura friend? You shouldn’t be playing with your food like that.
Always travel with and Assuran you never know when you might need a snack.
He/she is basically a portable lunch bag. Not very filling or tasty, but it gets the job done. heheh.
To be honest, I always thought the Charr and Asura WERE the smartest. Probably because I liked them the most.
Charr invented GUNS. That in itself is an amazing achievement. Then they made ‘nades and tanks and such.
Asurans are architectural masterminds. They imbue their tech with magic and bam, golems, floating cities. And they just came out of their caverns.
Asurans do need magic to make what they need work, but what they create is utterly amazing.
Charr dont need magic, they use their own skill to make it. They didnt just invent engineering, they ARE engineering in its prime.
Humans, Norn, and Sylvari arent as smart, lets face it. But they arent idiots. I myself dont like them, but they aren’t dumb.
This is just my 2 copper.
Better then playing with the living salad i suppose XD
besides, I prefer norn :P
More filling.
Silvermane id give a 8/10. Sounds really cool but not that scary for charrs
Khallum Feralblade.
Feral because when he enters battle he goes bloodthirsty with his sword (hes a warrior)
So i was a warrior holding my GS, and my asuran friend was holding HIS GS. His GS was (and i compared) about the size of my normal sword.
I just found that extremely hilarious XD
